Cake, cookies, donuts, baked goods, even Cinnabon

cockaigne is all wine on me, after a slight oat cake smell....

    Western Diamondback

well, snake oil wins. I can't smell anything else other than snake oil....but it is a bit softer, I guess. I love snake oil, but I am a bit disappointed that I can't smell anything but.

    Play-Doh smell -- should I dilute?

chimera smells like play doh on me, but I really like it:) I always loved the smell of play doh.

    Fairy Wine

I think I might have found my Gaiman-based perfume! Finally:) I have gone through Fairy Market, Victoria and Lady Una so far This is warm, delightful fruit and grass--and kind of smells like raspberry bubble gum:) ETA: Upon dry down, I do get a sort of chemical, chlorine undertone. It is very very faint, however, and I am so eager to own a Stardust blend that I can overlook it. I love the bottle artwork and I want to actually be able to keep one and wear it! It also smelled okay with snake oil as I put some Western Diamondback on, too;)
  5. TKO makes me feel safe and cozy and happy...I smile when I put it on, every time. What else...hmm...Dragon's Milk and Dorian are my happy time scents. I love to smell Penny Dreadful, too, it makes me feel grounded and happy. Xiu makes me think of sunshine and summer

    Mr. Nancy

on me, it smells like Body Shop's White Musk, which I used to wear years ago...mixed with a tiny bit of sugar cookies and spice. I like it and might take my imp off the swap page, after trying it again...but I don't see myself reaching for it often. It smells a bit colder than I like to go...

    Depraved

I don't like this on me, one bit. I loved Imp, and patchouli is pretty good on me, normally. But this smells like sweat or pencil shavings on me--maybe it is the black patchouli?

    Eden

... This oil contains the innocence of the Garden, coupled with the Truth and Erudition found in the fruit of the Tree of Evil: fig leaf, fig fruit, honeyed almond milk, toasted coconut and sandalwood. wow--I like this a lot. It smells like Jai Mahal Villainess scrub on me somewhat..or else they combine together very nicely. It isn't my normal preference--I feel more grown-up with this perfume. It smells spicy, like Bastet and such but I can actually wear it without a headache imploding....and a teensy tinsy bit fruity, I guess....I don't smell almonds or coconut or whatever though (thank goodness, because BPAL coconut smells like plastic on me)...I think this is a really well blended scent. I might want a bottle of this someday, when I want to feel like a lady:)

    Asp Viper (2006)

I pretty much only get SNAKE OIL and almond from this...which is nice, because I like Snake Oil...but since I have a bottle of that, I don't think I would buy Asp Viper, even though I like it a bit more than plain Snake Oil.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

shub makes my skin burn baby burn...and turn red. I think Coral Snake might have made me a bit red, but that might ahve just been the swab scraping my lily white skin;)

    Rose Red

Wet, this smells like tea rose and mint. As it dries, the mint drifts away. Then it goes through a few transitions--dusty rosewater (), and finally a creamy rose that is nice, but not as pretty a rose on me as Libra was. I am somewhat relieved. Rose Red is my favorite fairy tale maiden but my bank account isn't loving me right now.

    TKO

I really really like this. In the imp, it didn't smell too impressive. I love lavender, but it didn't smell that great, as far as lavender goes imho. However, on it smelled amazing. Sweet and sugary without being foody. Lavender usually energizes me and this is a lavender for relaxation...this is baby lavender. I need a big fat bottle of this immediately. ETA: sometimes, i get this sage-y turkey dressing undersmell that is surprisingly not upsetting;) I must also state that this delightful scent is a very good anti-depressant and puts a smile on my face every time ETA, again: my mom has been depressed because of my father passing away this summer....and she has restless leg syndrome. So she has some trouble getting to sleep some nights. She was complaining, so I gave her some TKO and she conked out and said she slept really well:) I don't know if the effect was psychological or not, but I am buying her a bottle with my next order. She needs her own--we can't share!

    Embalming Fluid

this smells great on me! It's fresh and clean and reminds me of lemons while not smelling lemony, if that makes sense (scents ha!) The smell reminds me of when I take walks and look at all the greenery--how there are so many shades of green that all compliment each other so well. This is what the color light green should smell like.

    Coral Snake (2006)

This smells absolutely lovely. It's crisp yet juicy apples with an extra kick--crimson and sort of rich and spicy but it doesn't smell of cider to me. My only wish would be for the snake oil to show its head a bit more. The only problem is that my skin eats and it is gone without a trace within minutes. Even in the crooks of my arms, and even the throw from my scent locket doesn't do much. I wish it lasted on me long enough to justify a bottle purchase. I also wish that there was a line of bath products in this scent, or at least a soap!!!

    Shoggoth

Pretty much all I get is Lemongrass...which is pretty but I don't really want to smell like a lemon drop, you know?

Oils To Help with PMS and Periods

lol, when i have pms, I find that just buying bpal makes me feel better! Seriously though, anything mildly foody makes me want to puke when i have a headache or pms. what i can stand is Dorian, though.

    Chimera

I love this--it smells a bit like the dry down that i get from X (see signature!) I think it is the copal, which my skin must love. It also smells sweet but not in that buttercream foodie way...and teensy bit like apricots and playdough, in the best possible way. I am going to HAVE to place an order for this in big bottle form. This is mellow enough where I don't feel like I will overwhelm my students with my fragrance like snake oil or eat me or dragon's milk does.

What do bottles and labels look like?

I loved the Honey Mone label so much...it broke my heart that I didn't really care for the scent--it smelled like Lancome's Tresor on me--- and thus I swapped it and lost viewing my purdy label. I whoever did the artwork does more in that style.

    Oneiroi

all i smell is ylang ylang, which must actually be the jasmine...it's a pretty jasmine but I was hoping for more lavender goodness.

    Recommmendations for Green Scents

I like Dian's Bud and Lady of Shallot when I want to smell fresh and clean....I don't know that they could be described as green but they seem fresh and sunny and nice.

    Chanukkiyah

I don't really like this on me--in the bottle, it smells nice, sort of like Eat Me, but not as foody. But on me, it just smells like a generically scented foody candle. I hate that candle-y smell. The other thing that has that smell on me is Gingerbread Poppet and also, Cockaigne. It sort of makes me feel sick:(
  22. willowtreeling

    Whitechapel

in the bottle, it smells cologne...then on, nicely--like lemon drops or lemon verbena. after a while on me, it smells sweet and pink, like little kid erasers from the eighties...somewhat like Dragon's Milk on me. Maybe it's the lilacs? I dunno, but I like the smell. I am not sure I would wear it often, but I shall keep this impie.
  23. willowtreeling

    Gingerbread Poppet

Awww...I wanted to like this, I really did. However, on me it turned into Cockaigne--a scent that is lovely in a candle and one that I thought I would love on me, but made me somewhat queasy, actually. sort of rich and wine-y. Sigh. I think I shall stick with my Eat Me and shuffle this off to be gifted to some lucky lady (my sis)...
  24. willowtreeling

    Lady Una

It dries down like Tresor on me...which is pretty, but not a scent I will wear a lot--too sweetly perfume-y. This makes me sad, because I think it is the second or third of the Stardust ones that haven't worked on me....

What BPAL scents could represent a mermaid?

I feel like a happy water nymph when i wear Sea of Glass...it is not a wistful watery smell, but a salty grounded happy smell:) A water nymph out in the sunshine, sunning herself on a rock...
