    A Golden Idol

Vetivert strikes again! I love all the notes in this one otherwise, but I just cannot get past the vetivert.

    The Spanish Dance

I am any and all cocoa notes, so I don't know what I was thinking even trying this. It's straight chocolate on me, with a spicy background.

    Sugar Plum Fairy

in the bottle: a sweet sugared candy, but not overly sweet. Along the lines of Black Pearl on me, maybe just a touch too sweet for everyday wear.

    Mother Ginger

in the bottle: a light and fizzy ginger ale! pleasantly surprising, given the description. Fits right in with the Champagne series for Yule 2010.

The Second of the Three Spirits

in the bottle: a strong, heady foodie scent, all currants and booze and spicey-ness.

    The Waltz of the Flowers

in the bottle: a light, mostly "white" floral with a little something more...whoever said this smells like a real flower was spot on. There's a depth to this scent that reminds me of Peacock Queen (though the scent itself is completely different). VERY pretty and something any floral-lover should try, but ultimately not for me.

    The Waltz of the Snowflakes

in the bottle: the vanilla and mint of Tokyo Stomp without the oreo cookie! I'm tempted to get this if only to layer it against something so I can recreate my love!

    The Kingdom of Sweets

in the bottle: ultrasweet and fruity, but not heavy like many foodie scents tend to be, definitely like melted jellybeans!

    The Arabian Dance

sniffed in the bottle: the softest leather suede (calfskin or lambskin, the kind you want to rub against your face, its so soft) with a hint of tobacco.

    Doll's Eye Infused Honey

Wet, this smells like a crisp white floral, I can just get the faintest whiff of honey in the background. This dries off to a slightly powder-y, sweet honey--very pretty, but wholly unremarkable.

    Lurid

I predominantly get what I think must be the black currant--its sweet, heavy, honey and amber-y. If I sniff closely, I can get just the barest hint of ozone, and I can sense the lavendar in the background, but this is all heavy amber, almost a little musky on me, like O's older, darker cousin. I like it, but I think it might just be a little too rich for me. I can see this working really well as a men's scent!

    Seraphim

This starts off straight white flowers--generic and definitely not my style (think Queen of Hearts, The Reaper and the Flowers...a lot of BPAL "white" or light florals start off like this for me). After dry-down, however, the rose comes out to temper the white lily/wisteria absolutely beautifully. This is a soft rose, almost powder-y and it doesn't scream omg!floral. The more it dries, the more the sandalwood comes out to play with the rose. It's a subtle, beautiful scent, maybe bottle worthy! For me, this is a lazy-date kind of scent, where you both are only half-dressed at a fancy restaurant and people think you're crazy, but everything is just perfect because you're with each other. It's a soft, romantic floral without trying too hard, the shabby-chic of roses.

    The Peacock Queen

I honestly can't believe I haven't reviewed this scent--I just spent the past five minutes searching and researching the forums for my review. ^^;; I love this scent--its possibly my favorite BPAL ever. The rose is unlike any other I've experienced. It's very fresh, and not at all typically "floral", I almost wouldn't even call it a floral at all. There's something almost deep and liquid-y about it, with just the slightest floral backnote. I just adore this scent, I don't know how to describe it.
  14. bumping this as summer comes along! I'm going camping in a week and would love to hear more about what people have used!! I've already got my imp of Mad Hatter packed

    Buck Moon

Buck moon is like taking a deep breath of cool, nighttime air that's clean and refreshing, with an undernote of warm vanilla musk. A really gorgeous scent! It's a bit too cool for me, but that underlying warmth is soooo good I just might try to hunt down a bottle. EDIT: A retest of this, aged, umpfh it is so good. This is a super soft skin musk--what I wish all musks would smell like, with a light, herbal and aqualline note, nothing overpowering. The listed notes all appear for me, but the description is not at all the vibe I get from this scent, it is all soft, deep, and slightly magical--something Morgan le Fay would wear, if I had to make some kind of imagery. As it dries, the aqualline notes disappear, turning it into a soft, slightly powdery musk that smells almost velvety soft with a delicate floral/forest-y background. After a few minutes, it becomes a warm, delicate skin musk scent. Very sweet without being foody, with the herbal notes fading into a slightly spicey, pine-y background that is more masculine than anything else I get from this scent--still beautiful.I don't even know how to encapsulate this scent--I've read all the reviews and find myself nodding along to each one, but none of them capture the sense of Buck Moon completely for me!

    Agapē

I get crisp, fresh apples and very creamy, sweet vanilla and sweet pea from this. I'm not sure how much I like it yet--the creaminess of the vanilla is a little overpowering and too sweet for me. Fortunately, this mellows down into a more subtle, pretty cream-tropic-fruity scent reminiscent of Lampades on me. I don't know if it's worth keeping the bottle for me, but it certainly is lovely! EDIT: On second try, wet this scent is overpoweringly sugary-sweet candy. As it dries, the sweetness mellows out and becomes more creamy and the apple and other fruits come out a bit, but still too sweet for my tastes, alas!

    Jabberwocky

Jabberwocky is a little unexpected for me. After dry down, its slightly pine-y and eucalyptus-y, I don't get any orange. It is not strong however, and actually really soothing and reminiscent of lavender for me. Very pretty and soothing and mind-clearning, but not for me. Will definitely keep the imp though as a mood-booster!

    Glowing Vulva at Ryogoku Bridge

Incredibly gorgeous: creamy and soft and sweet. I am going to treasure and ration this as best I can!

    Hollywood Babylon

At first, this was far to sweet and sticky, I could barely stand it. After drydown, however, this morphed into a beautiful musky vanilla, sweetened by the strawberry and cherry. Absolutely lovely! I actually tried this on one wrist and Glowing Vulva on the other, and its a near dead ringer for me (thankfully, because I love GV, but no way can I afford it!) edit: retest--cherry is waaaay too strong, like cough syrup.

    Embalming Fluid

This is a really refreshing, light lemon, almost like lemon ice tea. Its gorgeous and soft and pretty. I'm not sure if I want it as a skin scent, but I do want to spray my entire house with the stuff.

    Persephone

Wet, this is all rose, heady and strong. Later, the pomegranate comes out, giving it a warm fruity scent. Very pretty, but just too floral for me. It's juicy, like some have mentioned, but the rose is still too strong for my liking.

    Osun

Wet, this is very sweet and fruity, absolutely delicious! As it drys however, it takes on a strangely...dank? smell, like a washcloth that's been wet too long. Dry, its a dark honey, not too sweet and very deep. Pretty, but not a keeper.
  23. Veronica

    Utrennyaya

Wet, this is MINT! As it dries, the mint tones down and soft florals come out to play, very pretty! By full drydown, its hardly minty, just very crisp fresh flowers. Pretty, but not for me.

    White Rabbit

Mmmm this was my first bottle purchase, and I just finished it yesterday! It reminds me of Dorian--tea is definitely the dominant note here, but much sweeter and less musky, there's a certain sweetness to the scent from the honey and vanilla that balances out the tea and makes it YUM.

    Wings of Azrael

Definitely a warm base of myrrh, with floral top notes. Very pretty and warm, not sure if I want to keep this yet--it's very pretty and I like it a lot, but I'm not sure how much I'll be wearing this.
