    Nyarlathotep

It smelled iffy in the imp, so I didn't have high hopes for this. On, it smells....like soapy burnt incense, like when you're trying to scrub out the remains of decades of incense burning from a metal plate. Then there's a weird hit of citrus, which makes it smell like you're scrubbing out the plate with antibacterial handsoap. Definitely not for me. My rating: 1/5

    Tamamo-no-Mae

Copying my comments from the "What's your OMG BPAL oil?" thread because it works for me. My skin turns this to creamy citrus, and it is to DIE for, since thus far most musks I've tried have been so-so or downright horrible, and BPAL citrus is really, really tricky on my skin. (F5 kind of does a bizarre acrid thing, Bakeneko is overtaken by my skin amping the amber musk, Aizen Myoo is sharp sharp sharp....) So finding one that works beautifully is making me REALLY happy. I'm kind of upset I didn't get more than one bottle of this, but I'm psyched that I wasn't warned away from it despite my lack of experience with skin musk. I kid you not, I spent the entirety of the update going back and forth over whether to get this or not...and while I wish I'd had more, I was thisclose to not having any. My rating: 5/5

    Jabberwocky

This really makes me feel like it's cooler than it actually is outside. I'm all sticky with sweat, and yet I feel fresh. The pine is a bit strong, but I think my skin just amps it ever so slightly. The orange wafts through after some time, but mostly it's the scent of a shaded pine tree. My rating: 3/5

What do bottles and labels look like?

I don't havea pic handy but am pretty sure that th 05 sugar skull is the one with a pic of a brown haired girl who has her arm raised. Thanks! I wasn't sure --I've been spoiled by many of the older LEs having years printed on the label, it never occurred to me that they wouldn't be marked after the first incarnation.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Does anyone happen to have any pics of Sugar Skull 04, 05, and 06? I have a bottle of it sans year, and I'm puzzling over whether it is indeed an 05 bottle.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

Wow! O_O How'd you do that? I'm tempted to start tinkering with OOorg's databases, but I've never worked with them before --previously I've only used OO.org's Excel and Word processor to take the place of MSOffice because I switched from my WinXP laptop to an iMac, and didn't want to spend money on a new suite of programs when free alternatives were available. I've currently got a spreadsheet going, but at 30 entries it's already getting hard to manage. Bah.

    Thirteen (13): April 2007

Mine was another bottle that had a separated black mass at the bottom, and streaks on the side. It's very cloudy, but that's all right. Rolling it is fun. Wet on the skin: dark chocolate with herbs. Drydown: Spicy cloved chocolate. Dry: Herby cloves with just a hint of sweetness. This is what I imagine a dangerous, sexy man would wear on his collarbone for sniffies. Pity I don't have any hot, dangerous men to test this on!

    Wilhelmina Murray

Just a smidge of this lovely lovely scent goes a long way. Elegant, slightly chilly, and deliciously feminine. SO happy I got this off a forumite.

    Eat Me

Wet: Strange dazzle of aromas -not sure what pops out first. Dry: A nauseating smell vaguely like sweat. I think this is a testament to different people's likes/dislikes and how scents morph on skin. This lasts and lasts and last...and no amount of scrubbing gets it off me. I've layered something else on top just to try to cover the scent. Well, at least I know foody scents really aren't good for me....

    Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp

Did I get a defective bottle? Or maybe I have a defective body? I don't get ANY mint in this at all --and that was my primary reason for ordering this, since I'm on the prowl for the perfect mint. In the bottle, it's an overwhelming buttery vanilla; the smell lingers in my room for several hours just opening the bottle up for a sniff. A teeny, tiny dab on one lone wrist amps up to buttery death; it's like swimming through a pool of frothed butter and eggs. There is the slimmest, teeniest, faintest hint of coolness that I fervently hope is the mint and not just the draft that occasionally wafts through my room, but it's just a hint of coolness and not really minty freshness at all. I'm going to keep trying this --maybe age will help, maybe a different time of month will help-- in hope that it settles. Otherwise, I might well have to swap or sell this, which sucks as I was looking forward to this scent above all others in my past two orders.

    Holiday Moon

I was lucky enough to snag a half-bottle, and now I'm on the hunt for more because Oh WOW. I can't identify half of what's in here because my nose isn't that well trained and it seems well blended to me, but ooooh, the sensory memories with this. Wet, it smells like my mom, and a childhood spent squished in with various aunts. Dry, it smells like shopping in Kyoto, or maybe slipping through the trendy section of a major department store in Tokyo --it smells like that one glorious summer that makes me wish I could go back. Oh lordy I need more of this. My rating: 5/5

One to Tie, Two to Win

This is SO COOL. I love that I managed to snag a bottle! On me wet, it's like a freshly mowed lawn that has some dandelions as well --all snapped stems and leaves, very sharp and summery. Once dried, a slight hint of something bitter appears. It's like a dandelion that was plucked, blown, and then trampled into the sidewalk --that slight decayed edge of browning green. I like it. Much props to the Lab for this amazingly evocative scent! *cuddles bottle*

    The Red Queen

*sigh* This one disappointed me. I wound up smelling like a furniture shop where most of the furniture isn't even finished yet. Raw wood, sawdust, and lingering wood polish. Alas, not for me.

    Phantom Queen

Very airy florals --very middle-aged, classy lady-ish. Not really for me, but if I ever have a special, subdued event....

    Fire Pig

This is crazy fruity. Really, really fruity. And it seems mostly like I'd been dunked in lychee juice before having a bit of citrus spritzed onto me. Fun, definitely, but a little overwhelming --a teeny smudge of this stuff goes a long, long way. We're talking my room smelling like it for days after I open the bottle. Awesome, though, and I'm happy I pounced on it.

    Darkness

This goes on a lovely dark floral, calms into a sexy dark floral, but then after a couple hours turns to baby power. Dark, sexy baby powder, but baby powder nonetheless. One worth carrying a reapplication for.

    Black Phoenix

This starts out almost cherry and vanilla, then morphs into vanilla with spices or pepper. Strange. I'm undecided as to whether I really like this scent or if it just tickles my occasional fancy.

    Perpetuum Bonum

I put this on the morning after I had a major meltdown about my financial situation. The morning after, things didn't seem so dire but I was still in desperate need of money. I got a gift certificate at work for Administrative Professional's Day, which was sorely needed. I think this works quite well; I didn't have any specific thoughts when I put it on beyond 'please more money.' I should probably give it another go when I have a more specific goal in mind.

    Slobbering Pine

I don't really know how to describe this scent. I'm happy it's not an overwhelming pine, but I have no idea how to place it. Kind of soft, maybe even floral? Except not.... The best I can do is the mental image of going to the woods and being able to identify by scent which trees are girl trees. (And yes, I know trees have no gender, but that's really the only impression I get of this scent. )

    The Great Sword of War

It's taken me three different scents with notes compared in my personal spreadsheet to realize that red musk is completely amped by my skin and completely disliked by my nose. I couldn't smell anything BUT the musk. I wish I could --I'd like to know what the cocoa smells like, or the herbs, or the saffron, or....*sigh* Alas, not for me. I'm going to let the imp sit for a bit and see if maybe aging it helps, though I don't have great expectations for it.
  21. DifferentDances

    Moon Rose

An imp that I ordered that worked well on my skin. The rose is lovely and soft, and makes me feel like an elegant, classy lady with a slight aloofness. I don't know, it's a pretty cool feeling when all I'm wearing is jeans and a t-shirt. Definite bottle-buy for later.
  22. DifferentDances

    Dragon's Heart

I wanted to love this scent. I'm all about dragons, after all. But the red musk overwhelmed the hint of whatever else is in here that I actually liked. Every now and then I'd get a whiff of these different notes that I enjoyed, only to rapidly lose them once more to the red musk. Pppffft. I'll have to try to find other ways to see if I like resins, because I know my skin definitely loves red musk while I hate it.
  23. DifferentDances

    Ultraviolet

Imp: This was a frimp courtesy of the Lab, and in the imp it smelled...strange. Not bad, just not what I expected in a perfume. Wet: Sharp toothpastey smell that made me wince. Drydown: Thankfully, this mellowed out into a light fragrance I really, really enjoyed. I think it's the violet and the mint; clearly I need to hunt down more mint notes.
  24. DifferentDances

    Bewitched

I can't quite single out the notes, though I know what's in it. The dark musk seems to be one that I can actually wear without it drowning out the flirty, sweet, light floral atmosphere of this scent. This was one of my first imps, and is still one of my higher ranked ones. Light and flirty and not overpowering at all!
  25. DifferentDances

    Aizen-Myoo

In the bottle: Yuzu! Yuzu yuzu yuzu... Wet: Sharp mikan and yuzu with a weird alchohol twang. And rinds. Lots of rinds. Dry: Wow, this fades fast. Half an hour later the tea is peeking through, tempering the citrus with an almost 'playdoh' quality (not bad or strong playdoh, just that dampening effect, you know?); I don't think this is going to last too long on my skin...
