    (Not So) Penitent (Mini) Magdalene

This the scent of the most amazing vanilla/spice/incense candle ever! Its what you are trying to find when you go to a high end candle store and sniff all of their vanilla candles only to leave empty handed. This is the smell of church and cookies. Every note mingles together into sheer bliss. Order multiples folks. This will only get better. I foresee many people trying to get this one in the future. Need to get another bottle of this stat! Still loving this. Ordered a backup bottle. :-D

    Mabon 2010

On me this is berry wine, ivy and camomile with Something dry and dusty (sage and myrrh? )in the background. Very much a fall scent. I neither love nor hate it. But it works for they day it was made for.

    Luna Sanguinem

I have to agree with the person who described this as canned ham. It went smoked ham on me as well. It was an immediate scrub off.

    Funnel of Love

Very deep patchouli. Woody and peppery with leather blending everything together. Doesnt change much on the dry down except to get softer.

    The Diamond’s Gong

To me this smells like Streets of Detroit without the depth and grittiness of the musk and myrrh. I love nag champa but I love SoD more than this.

    Incantation

Wow! A vetiver scent that works on me! My main impression is of an overgrown forest With ivy and moss everywhere. Occasional shafts of sunlight Pierce through shadows. This smells very clean, foresty and masculine. I wish i had a guyfriend to slather this on. However i am not adverse to wearing masculine scents from time to time.

    Streets of Detroit

In the bottle this smells like a fresh stick of nag champa incense with something a little gritty and dirty underneath. Wet on skin this smells a bit like the heavy musk thats in Smut with the myrrh giving it a bit of a bite. The nag champa/motor oil gets overpowered. Dry on skin the musk lightens up, the myrrh mellows and the nag champa comes out again and blends beautifully with the musk. Have gotten a few compliments on this one. Definitly a keeper. 5 out of 5 stars!! I now have two backup bottles and am halfway through my first bottle. This is truly a fantastic scent!

    Snow, Glass, Apples

Got SGA yesterday....on me it is Granny Smith apples over Chaste Moon. Gradually the apple scent fades until the chill, powdery scent of Chaste Moon remains. Yum!

    Et Lux Fuit

This is THE summer scent for me! I'm an "amber" girl....almost all amber blends adore my skin (with the exception of The Lion which vanishes.....go figure!) And I also love carnation, ylang ylang, honey and neroli. I finally found a bottle of this at a really decent price (had been longing for it for several months now) and have been wearing it non-stop for about 5 days since I've received it in the mail. My bpal loving best friend commented on the throw and loveliness of it this weekend. Starts out with a heavy lemony-citrus bite (neroli)...which mellows quickly into a soft golden (the amber/honey) , yet spicy floral (carnation)/amber-resin warmth. In a way it reminds me of La Fee Verte which also starts out with a citrusy kick and then mellows. I like Et Lux Fuit more than La Fee Verte though.....Lovely, lovely warm, golden summer scent!

    The Ides of March 2005

I figured someone should review this on the day it was made for! LOL! This is the 2007 version. In the bottle this is sharp lemon peel, bergamot and rosemary. Very, very bright! A few minutes on my skin and the amber amps...YAY! (love amber) but it just softens the bright green top notes. I love bergamot and this combined with the rosemary and lemon (plus a hint of the florals.....iris....nummy!) is the main "green/citrusy-sharp" scent. This is a lovely spring blend! The amber is "caught" by the strong top notes and never goes to baby powder on me. It is strong with amazing throw....no end in sight! I'll have to make sure this is in heavy rotation in my "spring" collection!

    Sapphics

This is warm, spicy, sweet and glowing! On my skin it smells like a close cousin of Snake Charmer. And it lasts a good long time. Another bottle or two for me most definitly! My favorite Lupercalia so far.

    Mr. Ibis

Thought I'd already reviewed this one! The first bottle of Mr. Ibis I got I gave to my sister for Christmas 1) because she is a big Neil Gaiman fan and was very tickled to get a PERFUME based on one of his books (that she happened to be rereading at the time, as well) and 2) because to my nose Mr. Ibis smells identical to her signature scent which is Ambrosia by Song of India (the incense company). But.....I had to go and get another bottle for myself because Mr. Ibis is like no other scent in my collection! Its a clean musk. Not smutty/dirty/boozy like Smut or many of the other Red Musks or heavy musks that bpal does. Its "musk lite". A little bit linen, a little bit vanilla and the refreshing hit of aloe with musk backing and grounding it all without overwhelming the clean, white notes. I really do love this one. And if wearing it didn't make me think of my sister all the time I'd probably snatch it up as my day-to-day scent. Clean and pretty...a bit androgynous, but not in a CK One sorta way...this one can smell feminine or masculine depending on the person wearing it.

    Egg'd Mailbox

I just got a bottle of this...was SOOOOO excited considering the demand for it and the reviews...and the fact that I adore Egg Nog! On me....ICK!!!!!!!I never really understood the descriptor "turns to plastic on me" before now. But Egg'd Mailbox turns to funky plastic on me....WAAAAAA I'll keep it for a bit to see if its hormones or not.....but ewwwww!!

    Hony Mone

On me this is all creamy, sugary honey all the time! (which is great because almond usually takes over and messes things up and jasmine often amps to insane levels). In fact the almond and jasmine notes were the main reason I didn't order a bottle to begin with. The only honey oil I was familiar with was Litha and, though I like Litha, its not usually a go-to scent with me. Luckily I decided to get a decant from someone and immediately fell in love! Initially on the skin it smells a tiny bit "dirty/sweaty" but that fades out really fast and then I just get golden, sugary honey. So glad I could track down a bottle of this!!! YUM!!!! I'll be wearing it alot, I think! Edit....in regards to how this matches up with O ....I was really excited to try O months ago when I first started collecting.....unfortunately the "dirty/sweaty" note that is noticable in Honey Mone the first 10 minutes (for me) is the main lasting smell I get from O :-( So Honey Mone is what I wish O was on me.

    Egg Nog

This was the one 2007 Yule I ordered in bottle form. And SOOOO glad I did! The first couple of times I applied it faded very quickly after about 1/2 hour of smelling exactly like rummy eggnog. But the last few times I've tried it it hangs around longer....I think even a slight aging/settling period is helping tremendously! I wore some to work last week and (as I was worried about the lasting factor and didn't want to take my whole bottle) wore some in a scent locket as well! It lasted through the night (I work graves), and even my co-workers were impressed and agreed that it smelled just like spicy, boozy eggnog! I will treasure my bottle well!

    Heavenly Love & Earthly Love

*sniffs wrist with Heavenly Love and Earthly Love on it* Ommm nomnomnom.....! This one is right up there with Minotaur in terms of resin goodness! While Minotaur is resin grounded by black musk this one is resin grounded by sandalwood and amber.....holy yum! I smell like sweet, sweet incense and my favorite amber. This one is so good an imp of it went into a rollerball bottle to be a go-to-work with me scent!!!

    Mechanical Phoenix

There was a period of time where I wore CK1 alot. This reminds me of that only more metallic and interesting. Its very coloney, but I can really get the idea of metal and gears from it....ozoney and bitter with a bite of something citrusy. It lasts well....though the throw on me isn't too strong. I'll certainly wear this when I'm in a gender ambiguous state of mind!

And There Was A Great Cry In Egypt

Thank you to fountaingirl for gifting this to me ages ago! This is a beautiful resin blend! Much less musky, deep and masculine than my favorite, Minotaur. It is resin-lite! The softness of amber. The woodsy balance of white sandalwood and cypress. The spiritual lift of myrrh and frankincense. The dusty sugar of honey. The spicyness of cardamom and saffron. The sweet feral whiff of red musk. (I'm not too familiar with hyssop so I don't quite know where it fits in.) Its a more feminine version of Schwartzer Mond and Minotaur. A must for resin/wood lovers! It lasts several hours on me, has decent throw, and is definitly a mood lifter, which I desperately need these days!

    Kindly Moon

A very sweet and pretty floral, but not unique enough for me to want to keep or wear. The floral notes blend together well and the vanilla is a nice balancing note. The peach adds a sweetness that keeps this from being JUST florals. Nice, but not for me.

    Peony Moon

Got a frimp of this from a lovely person! It smells like spicy roses! I'm not sure what peonies smell like, but this is like a soft rose with a spicy bite (which I think is the plum blossom) floating on the Asian woods which are a grounding note, but still soft enough not to distract from the floral beauty of the top notes... Love rose-type scents and this is definitly a keeper!

    The Brides of Dracula

How odd.....this was probably the very first BOTTLE I purchased (ebay-as I missed the OotD initially) in the beginning of this year and I STILL haven't reviewed it? LOL! Good thing I decided to revisit my collection tonight! Brides of Dracula is STILL a fabulous scent! I adore musks and amber. And Brides has both but mixed so well with white florals that it is a complex and feminine treasure! The honey also sweetens (heheh) the deal. O is too much honey for me, but here the honey slinks around with the lily and musk...now you smell it now you don't......Darn it! Why did I forget about this one for so long!!!!? Oh yeah....I was seeking out heavier musks and resins....But now I know! Brides of Dracula is the perfect mix of sweet musk/amber/honey and white florals for me! I think it smells even better now than it did almost a year ago....I'm going to be wearing this one a lot in the near future!

    Long Night Moon

Blech! This one hates me! I smell rancid florals and fruits. And I left it on for hours to see if it would morph into something wearable on me....no luck, no morphing....ew! Gift for a friend this decant will be! Happily the other two scents (Saggitarius and Ivanushka) from this update are GOLDEN on me!
  23. bulletslc

    Ivanushka

No pickles here. To me this smells a lot like the old Buck Moon.....Soft, innocent, furry musk. Like burying my nose in my cat's fur....but glossier....like the way a mink pelt looks....deep, sable, brown and oh, so soft! It turns a bit powdery but still retains its musky beauty.....can't wait to smell how this one ages!!!

    Sagittarius 2007

Completely and totally dandelion on me! Sadly it doesn't last very long. Its my sign (Sagg) and I adore it, my co-workers I've tortured into sniffing me adore it....need more!!!!!! This will end up being an atomized one or a scent locket scent.... But c'mon.....pure DANDELION!!!!! Its like being a little kid again!!

    Pirate Moon

Kicks self that self ordered t-shirt for this one but only a decant to wear! (no matter....have a lead on a bottle!) This is a Pirate at his/her ease.....lounging on the beach with a beverage of almost toxic alcohol content...loaded with lime....in the sun...but still wearing his/her leathers.....a very crisp, virile scent with the underlying musk of a long sea voyage. Viva Bonny Jack Sparrow! I love this! And it lasts a goodly time on me! Yay! Bottle just came in and while wearing realized that the Red Musk is really potent in this...but unlike Red Moon where it just took over and became candy....this is still a complex yummy scent even 4 hours after application....with no end in sight (or should that be "smell") The musk and tobacco/leather make a lovely combo and the lime gradually fades out but there is still a titch of citrus keeping this from being TOO sweet!--I think the ambergris and sandalwood also keep this warm without the ultra sweetness too much red musk can bring on.)
