Crisp and mineral first on, slowly morphs into a damp green floral. Rosewater, maybe hyacinth? Softly sparkling.

Murky jasmine. Heady, but dark and creamy. A hint of greenness. Incensey. I get a little bit of rose as it dries, I think white rose.

Lightning Moon: Ylang Ylang and White Apple Lotion
roseus replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Ylang ylang is a note I always have difficulty describing, and even here paired with one other note I am still struggling. I feel like it isn't standing out all that much, but embellishing the apple with a heady, creamy sweetness. The apple is soft and sort of musky. Not very tart, nor very sweet. Very pretty! The throw is pretty low after it settles and I think on it's own it would be safe for office wear, and would compliment but not compete with perfume. I do notice hints of the scent a several hours on, close to the skin. Regarding the lotion itself and the packaging: the lotion is thick but melts into the skin easily and absorbs quickly. The pump works fine but I do wonder if a tub would be better, especially as it empties.- 2 replies

All sweet apple in the bottle but transforms on the skin. Dark, rich, absolutely luscious. The crisp apple remains the core but it is wrapped in a haze of tobacco and labdanum. Just a hint of clove, doesn't push it to autumn candle territory for me. I don't get plum distinctly on my skin, but I get a deep fruity sweetness that feels like red musk underlining the scent.

Foggy is the perfect word for this. Blurred right on the edge of foresty and aquatic. Green sage and fir, a chilly salty ocean fog obscuring it slightly. A bit of sweetness from the amber underneath. Fresh, clean, atmospheric.

Initially this is all chewy fig and almond cream, gourmand and comforting. As it settles in the almond starts to hang back a bit, and I get more of the florals - the jasmine in particular. The fig gets a sheerer, slightly juicier quality to it. It turns from baked good to a gorgeous Mediterranean breeze.

Bright and fresh, silvery cool. I get a lot of the ti leaf and ambergris, it's airy yet damp feeling. I do get a smidge of violet but where violet usually goes super sweet and musty on me this is just a dewy purpleness. I was anticipating a drier, smudgy grey incense but this is gorgeous regardless. "Floral foam" as monocainheresy puts it is a great description

Beautiful smooth, dark teak lifted a bit by the cream and lotus. The teak is a bit spicy. Smells expensive.

Creamy almond and cardamom pastry and warm, sticky fruits. I think @doomsday_discois right and there is fig here. It smells a bit like Cucidati without the citrus and booze notes. Very cozy gourmand.

I'm still getting all my scents into a sheet (about 2/3 there I think) also putting in bottles I've finished but love. So far my top 5 statistically favourite notes: Vanilla (34) Amber (17) Patchouli (17) Musk (16) Rose (13) Sounds bang on so far 😅

Fizzy herbal concoction. I get rosemary, a hint of citrus peel I think (could be the white tea perhaps?) I'm having a hard time pulling it all apart but it is crisp and refreshing. The fizz really holds out on my skin, sometimes fizzy notes like this one fade quickly in the dry down. It doesn't come off as boozy on my skin. As it settles the vanilla base comes out, giving a bit more body to the scent.

I'm getting a different vibe than previous reviewers. Definitely sweet, especially sniffing directly in the bottle. Sprayed into hair it's a rice crispy treat but made with those bougie artisan marshmallows. Sweet, but to me, not cloyingly so. It has an airiness to it. It reminds me a bit of Precious Beauty, something about that sweetened grain vibe.

Crisp breezy white tea, with a creamy musky element I can't quite pin. As it dries down I get a bit of light woodiness, nothing intense like cedar, just giving a bit more backbone to the tea. The rice becomes more apparent as it dries down, I think it was part of that muskiness I was getting fresh on. Settled it's a low, warm airy base for the tea, and it's striking me like specifically basmati rice.

Lush, velvety red rose and amber with a deep, rich red musk. Makes me think of a lavish parlor, gilded and full of velvet and brocade.

I get more sweet breezy clover freshly on, and it gets more grassy as it settles. A gorgeous vibrant green meadow (definitely a Ghibli meadow!) with an undercurrent of Snake Oil. If you are a fan of Green Tree Viper I would say this is a second cousin. Fresh green SO, but obviously no mint.

The coconut is very strong in the bottle and on wet, it's a very (for lack of a better word) fruity coconut- more Obatala than Coconut Meat SN. I gets both the obvious coconut cream smell, and the smell of coconut water. Like how coconut water has that slight faintly bitter greeeness to it? It is very pleasant and true to life, not too sweet and doesn't pull suncreeny on me. As it dries down I get a gorgeous starchy rice note.

Idle Moon: Jasmine Rice and White Musk
roseus replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
This smells reminiscent of my beloved recently departed The Moon Reflected in Every Rice Paddy. The musk is creamy and slightly sweet, not at all a fresh clean white musk. The rice is beautifully starchy-powdery and there is a hint of creamy jasmine. Extremely huffable.- 6 replies

Oud is incredible, I became obsessed when my friend showed me her oud collection, much of it prepared by her mother in Zanzibar. There is a Swamp Oud and Vetiver Root duet currently available - can't speak to the qualities of swamp oud though! Some other scents off the top of my head that might appeal: Hypatia (Rose water and a mineralic, star-dappled blend of white musk, crystalline amber, and sweet oud) and Deuteronomy 10:18 (Hay absolute, patchouli, agarwood, and vetiver), Also be on the lookout for agarwood in descriptions, just another name for oud.

Gorgeous heady orange blossom (maybe a touch of jasmine too?) surrounded by a gorgeous humid, foggy aquatic note. The smell of hot June rain

Hunter’s Moon: Tonka and Fossilized Amber
roseus replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Incredible chewy rich amber, with tonka giving it and extra bit of juice. I have a hard time describing tonka, and here it is unobscured. It's like a dusky, vanilla+. It's a bit nutty-fruity, and has a bit of a woody muskiness. Gorgeous duet!- 1 reply

I agree this has a creamy sort of earl grey vibe, like if a cloud was infused with a white tea earl grey. It feels both creamy and airy at the same time, foggy is a great word for it. This has crazy throw on me, but is gentle enough of a scent that it isn't overwhelming.

Fizzy peach in the imp, more peachy-chocolate on my skin. Which sounds like a strange combination but it is really pretty. The buttery pastry of the pain au chocolate comes out a lot during the wet stage, but dries down to juicy peach and chocolate with a hint of fizzy cherry (and it is behaving on me!).

The vanilla and sandalwood combo is soft- reminding me more of Reapers Gonna Reap than And Though They Are With You. The tobacco is gentle, it is lightly sweet and adds a bit more richness and body to the scent as it settles on my skin. The blackcurrant bud is more prominent earlier in wear adding freshness. It is subtle and refined, a really elegant scent.

Waxy cherry-vanilla in the imp, reminiscent of flavoured lip balm. Almost candy-like. On my skin the cherry is cough syrupy as expected unfortunately. But on my wife it is a gorgeous juicy cherry-rose combo, with that waxy vanilla base. Really pretty!

I agree this is similar to Madrigal, a little deeper and darker. The plum and opium really transform the Snake Oil, I still get that patch-vanilla-incense base but it's not like some variations where it's Snake Oil but with extra embellishments. Sultry and hypnotic.
