    Coin Trick

Coin Trick smells like...shampoo? Not in a bad way, but as I was testing this and trying to pin the scent down, all I could say to my boyfriend is "it smells commercial...but not in a bad way!" A few seconds later I realized that it smells like shampoo. Again, not in a bad way! But that's totally what this reminds me of. Something bright and fresh, easily accessible, and very unisex to my nose. I like it a lot just because it's so different to anything else I have, but I don't know know yet if I'll seek out more than the decant I have.

    Le Rideau Cramoisi

This is one of my favorites from this year's Lupers. To my nose, it's soft, smooth, honeyed nag champa with a subtle, barely there kiss of leather, which is how leather should be, at least IMHO. It's just a lovely scent all around. A little head-shoppy, yeah--okay, maybe more than a little--but that's how I like it.

    The Fainting Couch Atmosphere Spray

Oh! There IS a review thread for this! Took me long enough to find it! I got a goblin squirt of this a while back. The only thing that I can say about it is that it's all sweet pea and violet to my nose! I can smell the rose other people are getting as well, but it's not too strong or overpowering. Very pretty!

The scent of a sexy vampire...

It's a little hard to get a hold of, but my vote would be for Ecstasy of Passion! The notes are "bourbon vanilla, red musk, galbanum, ambergris, sweet clove, petitgrain, and golden amber," and it always makes me think of goth clubs, vampires, and all things spooky and macabre. It's usually my oil of choice when I'm going out on the town in my black vinyl, velvet or lace.

    St. Lucia v8

This is a basket full of gingerbread, clove and cinnamon goodness, with a touch of something creamy in there too, perhaps vanilla. I love this! And now that it's been swapped to me I will be keeping it forever and ever.

    White Rose

I rarely ever go for rose blends because they often go horribly wrong on me, but I'm really glad I sprang for the Unity set. White Rose is not offensive on me at all - in fact, it's smooth, creamy, feminine, delicate and pretty. I love it! I never thought I'd say that about a rose blend! I think what really makes the difference here are the supporting notes, especially the coconut. They all keep the rose from beating me over the head and going all old-lady-musty. I'm so glad this worked on me, because it's an amazing scent.

    Strawberry Moon 2009

Well, I was expecting to love Strawberry Moon 09 just as much as everyone else, but sadly things didn't work out that way. It's definitely an awesome scent, but it is not as candy-ish strawberry as I was hoping. It's actually smells more like a strawberry patch with light florals and leafy greens. I'm not the biggest fan of herbal, "green" scents, so I've already swapped this one away. My boyfriend doesn't like it much on me and I don't think I'd wear it much besides, even though I can appreciate the artistry that went into this scent and its lovely complexity.

    Bat of Good Death

I couldn't say it any better than the first two reviewers! This is, oddly, a comforting, relaxing sort of blend despite its resinous properties. Perhaps it's the coconut? Whatever it is, all the notes here are in perfect harmony. I don't think this scent warrants a bottle purchase, but I will still hold onto my decant and enjoy!

    Bat of Longevity

In the decant: Wow! Strong lavender. Very herbal. On my skin: I can smell the peach coming out, which tempers the lavender and other herbs nicely. Not getting any amber yet or else I just can't pick it out. Overall, sniffing it straight from the decant is a bit off-putting, but on the skin it morphs into something rather lovely and delicate. It's becoming all sweet peach and soft lavender. Each time I sniff it I like it more and more, which isn't something I would have expected from reading the scent description alone! Even though I love peach and amber, I would have expected the herbal notes to overwhelm the blend entirely. It doesn't seem to be the case right now, however. I'm not sure this is something I want to have a bottle of, but I will definitely be keeping my decant, I think! A few more generous tests will help me decide whether or not a bottle is needed.

    White Chocolate, Marshmallow, and Coconut

To me, this smells EXACTLY like the Irish coffee I make. Definitely chocolate in there, but where are the marshmallow and coconut? I'm not getting them, just coffee, chocolate and Irish cream. It smells nice but I'm NOT sure I want to walk around reeking like liquor. I'll try it a few more times before reaching a definite verdict.

    Pumpkin IV (2008)

This is amazing. It smells like what I hoped The Illustrated Woman would be, with the addition of a sneaky little pumpkin in there.

    Graveyard Dirt

... This is the scent of pure graveyard dust, spattered with grave loam and dusted lightly with tombstone moss. Yes, this is definitely very spot-on. Smells EXACTLY like moist dirt. Unfortunately, that's not something I want to smell like. BLECH. Get it off! So no, definitely not for me, but, once again, I'm stunned by Beth's blending abilities.

    Huesos De Santo

This is SO GOOD. When I put this on, the first thing I was reminded of was Zarita, the Doll Girl (another scent I love), except this is like her sweeter, less sociopathic sister, without all of that strong, potent in-your-face sugar. Definitely smells like a freshly-baked, VERY edible white cake with thick, orange, buttercream frosting.

    Mead Moon

Two words: BABY POWDER. My heart is broken.

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

In the Schwarzer Mond review thread, someone mentioned that it smells like what Angel would wear. I have to agree.

    La Primavera

In the bottle: Soft florals jump out at me. Very pretty! On skin: I smell the leaves first, that's how green the scent starts out. But what I'm getting right now is a generic floral scent, and nothing is really wooing me right now. I'll come back to this one later, when I'm not testing out three other perfumes at the same time.

    Schwarzer Mond

I never had a chance to try the original SM, but after hearing rave reviews about it, I knew I had to order a bottle when it was recently re-released. In the bottle: Whoa! Spicy, black musk. Very dark and very heavy. Reminds me of nothingness - just empty, black space that stretches on forever. On skin: Wow. WOW. Wowiiiieeeeee. This is like NOTHING I've ever smelled before. Jumpin' Jesus! I'm not sure how to be articulate about what I smell here because I'm really NOT SURE what I smell here! But it's really complex, dark and mysterious. There is something really dirty and filthy about this too, and not necessarily in a bad way, but in a way that might make me nervous to wear this out in public. I'm not sure whether or not this works on me yet. It all depends on the dry-down.

    Snow, Glass, Apples

My first thought when I unwrapped the bottle was, "Oh my god, a cobalt bottle!" It's lovely! First sniff: Oh yeah, I definitely can't add much that everyone else hasn't already mentioned - tart, cold, juicy apples, just waiting to be bitten into. This is a basket of red and green apples, perhaps with a sprig or two of mint nearby, miraculously growing in winter and pushing out of the snow. The scent makes me think of taking a bite of one of those apples with the cold chill of winter in your nose, the mint fragrant in the frosty air. On skin: Apples with a razor-sharp edge. Be careful biting into it - there might be a razor hidden inside. Didn't your parents warn you about this every Halloween? The minty cold edge is definitely still here, but it's not quite as prominent as it is in the bottle. The apples definitely reign supreme here. This is really a unique, one-of-a-kind scent. "Sexy vampire apples" indeed!

Chaos Theory IV: Edge of Chaos

DCCCXXI (821) In the bottle - Oh wow, this is a tough one to pin down. I smell something floral and something sharp, slightly stinging, and sweet, but not too astringent. Apple or orange, maybe? I'm not quite sure what the floral edge smells like to me. I'm not good at identifying different floral scents as I don't wear too many of them. On skin - I think I might smell something slightly grassy here too. This smells like springtime in the country to me - fresh, crisp fruit, sweet, blooming flowers, freshly-cut grass. I can't pin down the floral influence exactly but it is not too overwhelming - it is nicely tempered by the other notes. I definitely smell some sweet orange here - not a soft, mellow orange, but an in-your-face orange, like the scent you get when you split a whole one down the middle. Overall, I think I'd categorize this as a "sweet, fruity floral." A definite springtime/summer scent!

    Nanshe

I've been thinking about a particularly vivid dream I had last night ever since I woke up, and just now I remembered that I slathered Nanshe on before I went to sleep! The dream I had last night was honestly one of the most vivid, memorable dreams I've had in a while. And you know the funny thing? One of my co-workers was a big part of my dream, and in it, we were talking and I could really feel a close, intimate connection between the two of us. Well, when I woke up, I opened an email from said co-worker who was literally pouring his heart out to me! It was so weird, and it just came out of nowhere. I think I'll be wearing this blend often before sleep, just to see if I get similar results again. I don't know if the oil had much to do with this strange coincidence, but it seems like it certainly might have! As for the scent, it is very lemony, like a cleaning product, but not unpleasant enough to keep me from wearing it before bed. I wouldn't wear it out in public though, if that tells you anything.

    Cytherea

Oh my god, this is GORGEOUS! With sandalwood, amber, patchouli, and vanilla, it's hard to go wrong with my skin chemistry. From my first sniff of Cytherea from the bottle, she made me swoon, and the dry-down is just as lovely. This scent is very complex; the layers compliment each other perfectly, IMO. I love this scent! *cradles Cytherea close*

    Pickled Imp

Om nom nom nom nom!!!! *happily gnaws away at wrist* Pickled Imp is spicy, foody heaven on me! Clove, vanilla, and cinnamon are three of my very favorite notes, and they all work together beautifully to envelop me in a scented cloud of bliss. I don't really get any hints of the pine sap, which is fine by me, but I may be overlooking it because I'm so in love with the other notes here. I have to be careful when I'm sniffing this one - I pressed my nose up against my wrist to take a deep huff and now there's a smidge of Pickled Imp on my nose that's burning a wee bit. Ah well...it hurts so good!

    L'Heure Verte

I had high hopes for this one but the blasted rose comes in and ruins things for me AGAIN! I should have known better than to order three of the new CD scents with rose in them, but I never learn. This smells sweet and sugary in the bottle, not overpoweringly so, but in a nicely subtle way. On my skin, everything but the rose water disappears. Woe is me. This one will have to find a new home.
  24. ForeverLastcXs

    Marguerite

This is very strong, heady rose on me. All rose, all the time. Rose goes sour and sharp and old lady on me, so this is another blend that I'll have to pass on.

    Gwyneth

I seem to have had much the same reaction as slave1. Most scents with rose in them tend to amp the rose like crazy. This one isn't TOO bad, but the rose dominates the other notes here and, unfortunately, this one just isn't for me. It is a very pretty floral in the bottle, however.
