I normally don't like the smell of melons, but this was a frimp and I love every Mad Tea Party scent I've tried, so... This is the freshest scent I've worn in a long, long time. It doesn't smell exactly melon-y or necessarily fruit-y. It's like what you would imagine water smelled like if you had only seen pictures of it. It's clean and crisp and a perfect summer or spring scent!

I love most of the lab's apple blends so this one was a must-have. The Hesperides was my favorite apple blend when it was still around, and Sjofn is really similar in the bottle and on the first application. It's much sweeter, though--like candied apples instead of one you pluck off a branch. When it dries the woodiness comes out, but the apples are still very strong. Almost too strong, thanks to how my skin amps apple like crazy. I'm going to let it age, because I think if the woods get bolder as the blend gets older, this will be a beautiful scent.

Orange blossom is my favorite scent, so I got this hoping it would be heavy on the orange blossom. Once it dries, it's apricot with a touch of honey and pink pepper, instead. I can't smell any orange blossom, and the white musk sort of comes and goes. It smells lovely! It's not what I was hoping for but I'm really glad I got a full bottle anyway. It's like a deeper version of Katharina, which is my favorite GC blend. Pandy is a summer scent where Katharina is for spring.

I used to have a 2005 bottle. I sold it because I first got it during a rough time in my life, and every time I put it on after that it put me right back in those darker moments. But that was eight years ago! I wanted to try Snow White and "train" my brain to associate it with better things. 2012 smells just like I remember. And at first that was a bad thing. It mellows much faster than 2005 did, and the "crisp" note isn't as distracting as I remember it being. I'm glad I bought a bottle again, this scent is too lovely to write off.

Katharina went on soft. I thought it disappeared, and then twenty minutes later a soft, beautiful scent, everywhere. I rarely go from imp to "must have a bottle" in one try, but this is an exception. I need a bottle.

This was one of my favorite scents. The first time I tried it I got apple and wood and it was gorgeous. My bottle smelled much sweeter and was heavier on the apple, and I didn't like it as well, but after some aging it has gone similar to the wood-apple scent I loved. I'm sad it's discontinued, GC discontinued bottles seem harder to track down than LE's.

I bought this when it first came out and loved it, though I remember it being heavy on florals. I tried it on today on a whim, and after aging for almost 7 years it's mostly apricot--but very clean apricot--with a little trickle of starfruit, and honey, and this beautiful orchid note. If I breathe it in and close my eyes I can imagine being in the park on a cool, early spring morning. I don't like aging my bottles much because they tend not to last on my skin long, and 13 is definitely softer than I remember. But it's beautiful and rounded out, and I'm so glad I still have it after all this time.

Anise, Aniseed, Licorice, Liquorice, Fennel, Ouzo?
Frills replied to Reaver's topic in Recommendations
I'm looking for scents that are pretty dominantly black licorice-smelling. I have Pink Mood and love it, but it's aged and doesn't last very long and the cherry blossom is stronger than when I first got it. (And I know black licorice is not a very common favorite scent so if you have some that sound like they may work and you have them for sale, feel free to link me to your sales!) -
This is a libertine's celebration of decadence, debauchery, and sexual freedom: orange blossom, ambergris, orris root, white rose, lemon balm, jonquil, carrot seed, and benzoin. I love this wet. It's light, complex, girly, something I could see myself wearing regularly. I forgot it has rose in it, and once it's dried on my skin that's all I smell. Augh skin chemistry, whyyy?

This scent is beautiful. It's Christmas in a perfume. I worried it'd smell too much like a candle at first but after it's warmed on my skin it smells like pumpkin pie and berries and just the faintest touch of Christmas tree. It's not really foody, though; it just smells warm and homey. Going to be wearing this on Christmas Eve, for sure.

This is mint, and a hint of woods. But if you let it dry and forget you've got it on your arm (as I did) you catch wafts of the real scent of snow--watery, crisp, fresh, so cold it can make your nose hurt. In a good way. And it's also got a touch of mint. Sort of like being outdoors, building a snowman, then going inside to have a candy cane. I think I like this one--I usually have a love-hate relationship with the snow blends.

I tried this fresh, so I'm sure it'll change a bit, but it's like a sweeter, Christmas version of Vixen. It reminds me of being in a snowy field on Christmas Day, smelling the clementines my grandmother always brings, and the faint smell of warm homes. It makes me happy just smelling it. Love this blend. So glad I went ahead and got a bottle.

I got this and The Apple of Sodom to try, because I was in an apple mood. This is gorgeous on my skin. Warm, almost magical, clean, beautiful. I had the imp a total of two days before I realized I needed a bottle.

Anise works really well on me. Instead of turning to liquorice it becomes a nice, spicy depth to other notes, and it's the same here. At first it's BLACK JELLY BEAN SCENT, but after it dries, it's mostly cherry blossom with anise as a background. Cherry blossom is a fairly sharp scent on its own, reminds me of soap, so I'm glad the anise is there to temper it (and after a few hours, the vanilla makes it a little sweeter). I hope the vanilla comes out a bit more as it ages, but I suspect it'll age beautifully. Love this scent, and I'm so glad it works on me!

This has been different every time I've applied it. The first time, it was all berry all the time with just a touch of warmth (probably from the candles). The second time, it smelled exactly like a Christmas store I've been to--so I'm guessing the spices include cinnamon. The third time, it was gorgeous. To die for. Exactly what the description sounds like minus the snow. Definitely keeping this one, although I may have to pick and choose where I wear it to carefully.

This is amazing. Puppies have this indescribable, warm-skin-soft-fur scent that seems to go away when they get older. And this scent has that in faint whiffs. I didn't think that was possible. Mostly, it smells like grass and sweet flowers and I think there's some apple blossom in there? Something as sweet as apple? I don't even know but it's delicious. And then, when I turn my head, sometimes I smell soft puppy on top of it all and it's just...guh it reminds me of being a kid, romping in the back yard with my Sheltie puppy. This bottle is truly worth every cent.

Until it dries, this made me nervous--but once it dries it's myrrh and nutmeg and vanilla blended together so well it's almost distracting. This scent is unisex--not cologney enough for my brother, not feminine enough for my mother, but a perfect balance in between. It lasts for hours, too. I LOVE this.

At first it smells like Love's Philosophy, without the balsam note. Then it mellows to linen and cream, which is a lot more complex and clean than it sounds. It seems to be the same cream note that's in Zarita (which I am thrilled about! Most creams don't work on me), which is sweet and warm but not foody at all. A few hours later it smells just like Peeps marshmallows. So basically, it has a long run being not-foody and then turns into Easter. I love it! I was half-hoping this could act as a replacement for Plastic Pink Flamingo when my bottle of Flamingo is gone, but they're really different even at the final marshmallow note. Boo is a lot sweeter but I really like it. It's got great throw, too; not too much and not too little.

At first, this has a weird kitchen-spice smell on top of iris and orange blossom. I got this mostly for the orange blossom, so I was disappointed...but then after I put it on for ten minutes the spice goes away and it's fresh, sweet, and happy with a depth lurking underneath. Mostly, though, it's sugared orange blossom with a hint of iris. I don't smell any carnation. This fits the bottle art, and I'm kind of disappointed that I like it so much. Now I need a full bottle instead of my partial.

I bought Aqua's Pink Sugar a few years ago because I want something that smells "pink" and sugary. Pink Sugar gave me a headache, and so when BPAL came out with something that sounded similar I knew I had to try it. Plus, I love flamingos. This is PERFECT. It's definitely marshmallow from start to finish, but the dandelion sap keeps it from becoming single-note or bland, or headache inducing. It smells like the very end of summer and it is absolutely delicious. You get a soft blend between marshmallow fluff and fresh grass with dandelions, so it's not too foody. The bottle art is adorable, too.

This is Snake Oil (the one perfume besides Lolita Lempicka I always, always get a compliment on when I wear)...but better. Snake Oil turns really sharp and bitter towards the end, which always makes me hesitate to wear it again. Snake Charmer stays rich and balanced and smooth the whole way through. It makes me want to go clubbing

When I went to see my brother in New Jersey, one of our friends bought me a limited edition candle called, simply, Vanilla-Sandalwood. And it smelled so amazing. It was warm and spicy and vanilla and not foody (I like some foody scents but I really LOVE faint incense notes, which this had). There wasn't any waxy, commercial-candle scent to it at all. I burned out the last of it a few weeks ago, but I kept the pretty little jar it came in so that I could still catch whiffs of how good it smelled, and I poked around vanilla/sandalwood perfume combinations just hoping I would find one that smelled even a little bit like it. But this? This perfume IS that scent. I'm so happy! It smells amazing. I'm going to need another bottle as backup, I think. Just in case. In the bottle: Smells like Love's Philosophy, so I'm betting that's the cream. Wet: I actually didn't like it wet very much. It smelled like teak, and more teak, and teak as a backdrop. Dry: Sweet amber, a touch of cream, blended with that faint spicy-woody scent. That delicious, elusive scent I've been hunting down for two years.

I got these for chakra work, so most of my review will be about that. I started with this one because I've been feeling very conflicted lately, and I've had a lot of trouble balancing three specific chakras, the heart being one of them. I put this oil over my chakra points (focusing on my heart) and then on my wrists, just to be sure I'd get the full scent. While meditating it was much easier to focus and my attention was definitely drawn to the unbalanced heart chakra. After I was done meditating I felt much calmer, and I feel much more on balance now. It definitely made it easier and more relaxing to meditate. Scent-wise, I honestly don't remember any notes specifically; it brought to mind a very soft rosey-pink color, though, and it was very calming. I'd recommend this to anyone.

...so good. That could sum it up. There's not a phase I dislike. It makes me kind of introverted, though, because it smells so good I'll just get lost smelling it and thinking about things

This works amazing on me. In the bottle it reminds me a lot of Mr. Nancy, minus the lime; or Haloa; or maybe even Beaver Moon. Sort of a creamy, cheesecake scent. Once it hits my skin, though, it turns vanilla and--yeah, that wintergreen scent people were talking about. Which wouldn't bother me, but it fades in about three seconds flat, anyway. Then it's just creamy vanilla and oh man it's so good. It's not a fake scent at all on me, just very soft vanilla with a touch of saffron.
