    Ligur

Wet: Dark and earthy. First on: Mossy cedar wood. Dry: Bleeh. I was hoping for a stronger opoponax; all I get here is cedar spiciness and a big, dark, heavy moss. Not a fan.

    La Befana

Wet: Pixy stix. First on: ...Kool-aid. Wish I was making this up, folks. Red Kool-aid. Dry: It mellows a little and you can smell the lilies and violet, but mostly it's "candy charcoal" and "holiday sweets", which in my case is apparently flavored sugar powder!

    El Dia de los Reyes

Wet: Rich cocoa. First on: Staying strong with cocoa, maybe a hint of sugar. It's a milky cocoa. Dry: The coffee and cinnamon come out a little, but this is mostly a spicy, sugary holiday Bliss. I love it.

    Dark Delicacies

Wet: Orchid, patchouli, something fairly sweet. First on: Creamy, sweet orchid and patchouli+resin. Maybe a hint of tonka. Pretty amazing. Dry: The orchid is more predominant as it dries down, but it's mostly the same. Sweet with some depth, and creamy.

    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

Wet: Musk and patchouli. First on: Snake Oil. So much so that I'm confused that it isn't, in fact, Snake Oil. Dry: Snake Oil baby powder. So totally disappointed.

    The Unheavenly City

Wet: Mmmm gardenia, rose? and musk! First on: This is gorgeous and I love it already. Sob. Dry: OMG. It's just so gorgeous, I can't get over it. Musky, lush, juicy. Warm and spicy and floral. The gardenia here is amazing. Plus, this is a scent to make a rose lover out of a rose hater! If I could ever get more of this without selling half my limbs, I'd jump at the chance. ADDED 2/21/09: Wet: Floral and musk. First on: Dragon's blood? Creamy, floral, fruity. Dry: Dries down to the same. It's beautiful.

    Titus Andronicus

Wet: Spicy musk and citrus. A little cologne-like. First on: Frankincense and sandalwood are coming out to play with the spicy musk. The neroli and bergamot are a bit drowned out. Dry: It's citrus baby powder. What happened? I want the first on stage back...

    Monster Bait: biggerCritters

To the best of my knowledge, my decant came from a bottle that was sold without the critter. Wet: Vanilla cake! First on: Vanilla cake, gardenia, a bit citrusy. Very froofy and pretty. Dry: The vanillas have a strangely buttery lean, and the citrus is both grapefruit and lemon. The gardenia is barely hanging on; I kind of wish it were more prominent, but alas, it isn't.

    Blue Moon 2007

Wet: Wet, fresh, cucumber and aloe. First on: Slightly woody, but mostly aquatic and watery. Lots of aloe, or at least my skin amps it. A tiny floral hint. This is pretty well-blended, I can't pick out many of the individual notes. Dry: I have never tried the original Blue Moon so I had no expectations on this one. I have to say it's a gorgeous aquatic scent, and that's saying quite a bit as I normally don't care much for aquatics. It's anchored down by some beautiful, ethereal woods. It's a bit herbal, cold, dreamy.

    Gemini 2007

Wet: Interesting! Sweet lavender (is that the benzoin's doing?) and lush orchid, a bit resiny. First on: This is a beautiful, strange blend. Lavender usually evokes "medicine" in my brain, not that it's bad, but not terribly perfume-like either. The orchid and resins are really doing a number on this blend. Sweet -- not sugary -- and exotic. Dry: Dry, this is, excuse my language, fucking gorgeous. I've never met a prettier lavender blend in all my life, and I'm not one to avoid lavender anyway. It's a bit stronger on drydown, but it's pretty much the same scent as first on.

    Bad Luck Woman Blues

Wet: Caramel, vetiver, pepper, moss, a bit smoky. First on: Surprisingly foody, but it's like someone took a lump of caramel and rolled it around in mossy dirt. Strange. A bit discordant. Dry: I dunno, I just can't really get into this. It smells like dirty candy. Meh. Foody + earthy = not playing happily.

    Monster Bait: Ventriloquist Dummy

Wet: Woods, apricot, nutty butterscotch. First on: Woods amp up, with a subtle sweetness in the background. Apricot is all but gone. Dry: Polished wood. Evocative, but I don't want to smell like it.

    Taurus 2007

Wet: Mint, apple blossom, daisies. Unexpectedly herbal. First on: This is just so pretty, and not as floral as I was expecting. The herbal notes really bring it down to earth, and I'm getting a nice light rose, a big daisy, and plenty of apple blossom. Dry: Pretty and subtle, like flowers on a misty spring day. I really like this scent, it's making me smile.

    Stranger in Camp

Wet: Real pine and evergreen. Like being in the great outdoors. A little smoke, and a little cedar. First on: Earthy, dirty trees. In the best way possible. Dry: Dark green. Windy, smoky camping in Oregon. Beautiful; not something I would wear everyday, but I like it very much.

    Lady Luck Blues

Wet: Very sharp iris. *gulp* First on: Soapy rose, soapy iris, something a little sweet. Dry: Soapy rose, iris, tonka. I was hoping for more vanilla, benzoin, and plum. This ain't for me.

    Poisson d'Avril

Wet: Flowery, sweet, a bit overwhelming. Mostly picking up iris and daffodil, I think. First on: Intensely sweet flowers. It's hard for me to pick anything out. I'm still getting a lot of iris, maybe some tulips and rose. Dry: Rose and iris soap. Much more mellow than before, but it went powdery in the process. Eh.

    Aizen-Myoo

Wet: Citrus and ... pine? First on: The pine is really grapefruit or similar, I think, but it does give the vibe of pine. Weird. It's bright, bittersweet, and juicy. Dry: It's throwing pine, or something strange and woody, but I get in close and it's all pretty citrus. Karl commented on it too; he doesn't like it from a distance, but he likes the citrus if he can smell it up close.

    Minotaur

Wet: Whoa, that is some awesomely dark musk-n-myrrh. First on: Deep, dark musk and myrrh, with a bit of benzoin. Not picking up anything else (though I can't say I know for sure what tsori smells like). Dry: Sweet, smoky complex resins. It gets spicy as it dries, but also seems to lose its throw. But, this is gorgeous. A runner up to my favored Priala and Schwarzer Mond.

    Obatala

Wet: Milk! The milk in Milk Moon '07 actually. A vague hint of coconut, but fresh like the actual food, not suntan oil. First on: Same, but with a stronger sense of coconut meat. Overall a bit watery (which makes sense obviously). Dry: Creamy coconut lotion. The particular scent of the milk that I recognize from Milk Moon '07 kind of fades out a bit.

    The Ecstasy of Passion

Wet: Clove, red musk. Incensey. First on: Ambergris and amber are both coming out. Very red, musky and a bit smoky. Dry: It gets much sweeter on the dry-down. The musk mellows, and it's just a lovely sweet and spicy scent now. Very pretty!

    Thirteen (13): April 2007

Wet: Cocoa, catnip and chamomile. Incidentally, my oil is also a pale yellow/clear color. First on: Strangely, not as foody as I was expecting. More like...herbal tea with a hint of creamy chocolate nearby. There is a gentle fruity bloom to it as well. Dry: Clove comes out more, but it's still very much a beautiful herbal tea with a side hint of fruit and chocolate. Not at all what I expected, only the vaguest relation to the original 13 (my first BPAL scent!), but totally gorgeous.

    Golden Priapus

Wet: Vanilla, amber, and a woody background. First on: Juniper and amber amp up, and vanilla takes the backseat. The woods are coming out as well. Dry: I wanted to give this a try, but I have to agree with the description. It is a manly blend, and it's just not really very me. A nice guy blend, though.

    The Ecstasy of True Love

Wet: Juicy peach and patchouli. First on: Same as the bottle, except some spicy carnation comes out. Dry: This is really light on me. Fruity incense.

    Al-Shairan

Wet: Orange and cloves. First on: Strong, medicinal orange. =\ Dry: Blech, this is just strong orange medicine and chapstick!

    Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp

Wet: It smells exactly like Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies, which is both divine and giving me the biggest cookie craving ever. First on: Sweet, smooth mint. I want to say peppermint, but not like candycanes. Perfect vanilla. Dry: Creamy Girl Scout Thin Mints or mint chocolate chip ice cream without any chocolate scent. Or those little butter mints. I'm having the biggest candy craving right now. I love this.
