wet, this smells like a cleaning product. it morphs into a nondescript cologne scent during the drydown. pass.

    Australian Copperhead (2006)

ughhh, I so badly wish this worked out for me. in the bottle, it is a lovely spicy fruit tea scent. as soon as I applied it to my skin, it all but disappeared. I didn't detect snake oil in it at all. what I could barely smell on my skin was nice - vaguely tart and sweet and creamy - but I have to press my nose to my wrist to detect it. I'm so sad, haha

    Calico Jack

My friend had an imp of this and we both tried it on. My friend's boyfriend thought it smelled like Axe body spray on both of us.

    Miskatonic University v3

I haven't skin-tested the released version of MU but this smells very similar, if not exactly as MUv3 does, after I had it for about a year: hazelnut coffee. when I got the prototype fresh from the lab's etsy site, it smelled exactly like cinnamon toast. when applied, wet and dry, it was cinnamon toast. after 6+ months of aging, it changed to hazelnut coffee (VERY heavy on the hazelnut), wet and dry. it was very strong, and a bit too much for me. swapped.

lovely, lovely, lovely. soft and pretty rose and cream. light and sweet. rose doesn't always work on me but this is one of the few I've tried that works really well. it feels like a close cousin of alice. I'm glad I have a bottle!

    Tweedledum

It's quite tropical and fruity in the imp. Wet, is is juicy mango and fig, and I don't get the patchouli at all. During the drydown, I still smell mango and fig. Dry, I can finally smell the patchouli. I like it! I may have to find myself a bottle

    Ultraviolet

in the imp and freshly applied to the skin: whoa, eucalyptus. It kinda reminds me of being in a sauna, and there's someone in there with you who is smearing really sharply medicinal oils all over themselves, clearing the sinuses of not only themselves but everyone else baking in the sauna. it becomes more mellow during drydown, the eucalyptus recedes and then you get the mint and violet. and neroli. I usually hate violets but this is kept in check by the mint. it definitely has a health spa feel to it at first but it quickly changes to a perfumey, every day "work" kinda scent. I like the dry-down better than it dry (which is all violets and neroli), but I like it enough to keep the imp.

    Inez

when wet, it is a little too sharp and sour smelling (from the amber, cedar, sandalwood) for my taste. During the drydown, the sharpness mellows out and I can smell a little bit of the vanilla. Dry, it is a warm , slightly powdery mix of golden amber and vanilla musk. It is very feminine in a mature, grown up lady-kinda way, and I can see how it would work well on people. not really sure if it suits me, though (sooo not a mature, grown-up lady ).

    Blood Pearl

so far, this is the only BPAL perfume with coconut that doesn't turn to harsh plastic on my skin - the coconut ruined black pearl for me. as for blood pearl, in the bottle, it is sweet and syrupy. on wet, it is still sweet smelling, tinged with salty sea (orris?). dry, it is a great coconut-blood musk mix. dark, yet soft and sweet at the same time. this was a winner for me.

    Boomslang v2

definitely could smell snake oil and milk chocolate together. it is markedly less spicy than the released boomslang, which was seemed to highlight the spices in snake oil, when dry. as for v2 dry, I get a hint of musk. very nice!

    Maiden

a light, very girly scent. smells like crisp white tea and roses on me.
  12. inhumation

    Fae

on wet, it is bright and citrusy from the bergamot. It's slightly commercial-smelling...it reminds me of a really nice fruity/floral lotion. dry, it smells like peach and white musk.
  13. inhumation

    Opuhi

a light, effervescent floral + vanilla. soft, creamy, and girly!
  14. inhumation

    Shanghai

very clean and crisp-smelling. smells just like green tea and lemon verbena. it is nice but very faint on the skin.

    La Petite Mort

I could only smell the myrrh and ylang ylang at first, when still wet. dry, this is a pleasant, sweet scent that lies close to the skin (perhaps the skin musk), and I can't really make out any individual notes. after a couple of hours, there is a soft powdery scent that reminds me of O. I asked my husband what he thought of La Petite Mort, and his response was, "there's something medical about it." weirdo.

    Dance of Death

on wet, there is a soft patchouli that gives it an almost spicy quality. it feels almost sly. as it dries, a earthy sweetness comes out, which smells like a very dark soil, which reminds me a little of the soil note in Jazz Funeral. dry, there is a dry floral scent. this definitely evokes rattling, stomping bones on cemetary grounds with overturned soil and half-dead floral wreaths strewn everywhere, haha.

    Malice

on wet, it smells mostly of myrrh. As it dries, I smell mostly ylang ylang and a touch of patchouli. it definitely has a snarling bite to it, much as you would expect from malice. I don't smell the clove. I shall keep the imp, but there's no need to get a big bottle.

    Kabuki

I loooooove this. Wet, it's all star anise, but when dry, it's this perfect blend of rich dark cherry, red musk, with a hint of black licorice. Red musk sometimes goes a little weird on me during certain times of the month (ha), but I didn't detect it in Kabuki at all. omg why don't I have more money.

    Al Azif

Ah, this is probably my favorite from A Picnic in Arkham that I've tried so far. It is incensey and smells like dark, thick, heavy sweet syrup. The sweetness is almost honey-ish but it probably isn't, as the honey note often turns to powder on my skin. it's really nice. I want a bottle of it.

    Sonnet D'Automne

when applied wet, it smells like dry, dead leaves and the sharpness of amber. as it dries, the dead leaves goes away and is replaced by a masculine cologne scent with the tiniest hint of vanilla. I will pass.

    Faustus

Faustus is mostly frankincense when wet, with slight tinge of cinnamon. It then dries down to a very nauseating smell, which I think is violet. I don't think violet works on me at all.

    Eau de Ghoul

This was exactly like cherry coca-cola on me, from start to finish.
  23. inhumation

    Splatter Comedy

it was exactly that - when freshly wet, it was banana cream pie. it quickly dries down to blood and motor grease and remained that way for hours. swapped.
  24. inhumation

    Haunted

bright and almost citrusy amber when wet; becomes powdery when dry. I didn't get the musk at all.
  25. inhumation

    Obatala

I had an imp of this but had to swap it away because the coconut note (as almost always) turns to plastic after I applied it to my skin. Dry, though, it smelled like coconut-scented shea body butter, the all-natural kind you get at the drugstore.
