    Dungeon Crawl

I'm getting both leather and cherries from this. Something spicy, too (pepper?). A really wonderful scent that I am enjoying quite a lot. As mentioned above, not a lot of throw, but strong close to the skin. Very nice!!

    Alone

Alone. Beth must have called it this because, after putting it on, you hope you're alone due to the screams of pain coming from your lungs!! Burning cinammon made the initial application a painful one, however, after the pain finally subsided, this became a very interesting scent with a strong throw and excellent lasting power. The descriptions above seem to hit it on the nail. This is a dusty cinammon scent that reminds me of quiet, musty buildings, the kind you'd find in the Old West, with dusty, well-traveled floors and cinammon brooms hanging around on rusty hooks. (Did I just write musty, dusty and rusty in the same sentence??) This scent is, oddly enough considering my first reaction to it, quite comforting. It is a dry, Old West blend that last a long time. It might be excellent as a room scent, but that initial wet application is a little bit of a deterent to actually wearing it. Still, a solid 3 of 5 rating.

    Thirteen (13): January 2012

As 13 is my lucky number (turned 13 on Friday the 13th...found a $20 bill on the floor of McDonalds!!), I HAD to try this. I was NOT expecting such a powerful blast of spicy chocolate. It's almost overpowering in the bottle, but tones itself down quite nicely after applied. On drydown, the spicy chocolate is still there, but I get the mossy anise smell as well. Ten hours later, it's still there on the wrists. Subtle spicy chocolate. This is really an amazing blend, one I wasn't sure I'd like when i first sniffed it...and one I've learned to love the longer it's on, and BOY does it stay on a long time!!! I am SO glad I picked this up when I did!!

    Skadi

I received this as a half-decant purchase and I am 100% behind the effort to make this a GC scent, not just ofr Yules. Skadi is gorgeous, and I also get the muskiness after a while. This has been going strong on my wrists now for coming up on 9 hours. The pine, berry, musk combination is enough to drool over...pardon me while I grab a napkin!

    Wolf's Heart

Strong and powerful. I get cinammon and clove and something else spicier (dragon's blood?). I don't get anything floral from this, although that just be my body chemistry amping the spicey notes over everything else. I can say that this is still strong nine hours after applying a small amount to my wrists. Great lasting power makes me feel I can pretty much do anything I need to do (like get through this day, as I am sick as a dog, no pun intended).

Aspen cologne - help me find a smell-alike

Thanks, Scylla! I love Black Forest, but haven't tried Wilde. I'll have to take a look at that (and a sniff)!
  7. Sierra, by Stetson, is an even more addictive & intoxicating scent than Aspen by Coty. This is a scent that almost makes me drool if I sniff it too long (apologize for the TMI image there). Here are the notes: Top notes are aldehydes, artemisia, caraway, juniper berries, green notes, basil and bergamot; Middle notes are carnation, jasmine, caraway, rose, pine tree needles and geranium; Base notes are leather, amber, patchouli, musk, oakmoss and cedar. I will attempt to do a search on the forums, but as there are so many notes to this, I am not sure something like this exists or comes close even in the bpal library. It is the longest lasting cologne I've ever used, staying on me with good throw almost ten hours after originally putting it on (two shots of the atomizer, one on each wrist, not even slathering it!). Woodsy, spicy and not a hint of floral, despite the middle notes, which I guess smooth out the base notes. But, what do I know? Sierra is cheap to purchase at almost any outlet store. If you are out and about, give it a try or send it on to the man in your life. It's a long-lasting, sexy smell. I appreciate any and all comments. Thanks!

Aspen cologne - help me find a smell-alike

Top Notes: Lemon, Bergamot, Mint. Middle Notes: Lavender, Vetiver Base Notes: Oakmoss, Amber. Anyone know if there is something similar to this already in the b-pal library? Thank you in advance.

Aspen cologne - help me find a smell-alike

Okay...found all the details here: http://www.basenotes.net/ID26120140.html Top Notes Lemon, Bergamot, Mint. Middle Notes Lavender, Vetiver Base Notes Oakmoss, Amber. B-Pal...do you have anything like this? Instant bottle buy if you do!!!!
  12. There was a men's cologne that I used to purchase (from Sears maybe? Robinsons-May?) called Aspen. It is a long-lasting woody scent that reminds me of lying down on a bed of pine needles in the middle of a forest. There's a spiciness to it as well. I'm not sure if this cologne still exists, but if it does, I'd still run out and get it at every opportunity. However, I'd LOVE to get a big bottle of this scent from B-Pal. Does anyone else know about this particular cologne and if so, which notes they clearly get from it? I happen to have an affinity for wood scents, so I may be a bit biased.

    Fenris Wolf

Seamus, It seems our tastes are similar. I also liked Villain a great deal and Fenris was one I was hoping to like as well. As it turns out, it reminds me of walking into a shop that sells supernatural and spiritual items, with nag champa and various other scents wafting about. Very pleasant and grounding. I like this scent a lot and will definitely consider it as a larger bottle scent to purchase. Maybe this is a signature Capricorn scent? I'm curious to see if there ever comes a line of TRUE zodiac scents...not just what people THINK should be the scents, but if there is a sign-centric scent, for want of a better phrase. As an Earth sign, I tend to be attraced most to earthy, musky scents. I LOVE pine, cedar and most dark musks (especially if sweetened with a citrus note). I wonder if water signs like wet scents, air signs like ozone and fire signs prefer cinammon and dragon scents. Something to think about I guess... And regarding Fenris Wolf, I agree with your review 100% This is an excellent combination of notes! Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there.

    Death on a Pale Horse

Death on a Pale Horse- In the imp: white musk and sandalwood mostly...no lavender, no citrus, some patchouli but no vertiver, calla lily or lime. Bourbon? Maybe... Wet: Pretty much the same...the patchouli and white musk come out more, mixed with sandalwood, this has a very powdery, feminine aura on my skin. Dry: Johnson's Baby Powder. I can almost FEEL the grittiness of the powder when I smell this on my arm. The white musk and patchouli dominate now, sandalwood just underneath to give it some texture. This is too feminine for me and reminds me of hot, wet, muggy days and the need to keep the spaces between my toes dry...

    Villain

In the imp: heavy on the lavender, mild on the citrus musk...didn't get any obvious lilac or lime from it. wet: hard to describe...I was instantly transported back to childhood, sitting in a smokey bar watching and listening to my dad play his bass with paino and drum set accompaniment. It is, indeed, a masculine scent that reminds me of another day and age...appropriate for "a classic Victorian men's cologne." dry: more citrus musk...evenly blended with the lavender. Not floral at all...in fact, more musky than I would have imagined at first. A keeper, but only for special occassions.
