    Galloping Dreams Atmosphere Spray

Lavender smoke and golden amber, rushing by like a shadow on the wall. Galloping Dreams is simple and lovely. Grey-purple lavender (smoky in a dusky way) and warm amber work together here to create a very effective sleep/relaxation spray. I sprayed my bed linens last night and slept so well! The amber brings down the herbal pitch of lavender (which can sometimes smell a bit astringent to my nose), so I'm free to spray more heavily than I might otherwise. Some night I'll have to spray this and then wear The Air & The Ether for maximum lavender + amber effect.

    The Spirit Bridegroom

UNCANNY STORY FROM THE ONSET SPIRITUALISTS Wealthy Widow Becomes a Ghost’s Bride The Bangs Sisters, May and Lizzie, Continue to Startle the Peaceful Residents of a Massachusetts Town – the Spirit Bridegroom Charming May Bands and her sister, the great spiritualists, who, when at home, reside in Chicago, have lately startled the natives of Onset, Mass. This statement means more than might appear on the surface when it is added that that little town is almost wholly made up of spiritualists. Thither the Bangs sisters hied themselves some weeks ago to take part in the summer assembly of the eastern societies. They made their headquarters at Happy Home cottage, where they were daily visited by pilgrims in search of friends and relatives long since in the “other world.” Among those visitors was a rich widow from the far west, who wanted to see her lover, who had been a captain in the United States army. The captain, who came from Maryland, died on the eve of his marriage to the rich widow. For a year she has worn widows’ weeds and longed for even a visit from the spirit of her departed lover. Miss Bangs informed her that she could not only produce the captain’s spirit, but that the marriage ceremony that had been cut off by death would be performed in Happy Home cottage. A few days ago an item was given out for publication to the effect that the ceremony had been effectually performed some days before. In speaking of it May Bangs said: “I materialized the form and the lover came out of the cabinet attired in the uniform of an army officer. The premises had been previously examined to prove that there was no mortal about. The materialized spirit asked that the curtains be drawn for a while to shut off the front parlor. The bride wanted him to put on her slipper, and he did. “Only a faint light shone through the room where the minister and others were waiting. He kissed her numerous times. The bride was in a new wedding dress. Then the materialized spirit lover requested that the marriage ceremony be performed, and the request was granted. He placed a ring on her finger. They were together a long time that evening.” – Fort Wayne Sentinel, September 10, 1894 Misted roses and the memory of cologne, salt-wet and bittersweet. The Spirit Groom is gentle rose and salt water on me, like roses and tears. The 'memory of cologne' is very subtle, almost an insinuation more than a note. The first time I tested this, I wasn't sure it would be 'me', despite the lovely rose. But the second time I tested it, it really bloomed on my skin and I found that I kept bringing my wrist to my nose for the watery rose. So I guess this one is a keeper!

    Apple Marshmallow Hair Gloss

Oh my dear gods, Apple Marshmallow HG is even better than I hoped it would be. Poofy, soft, powdered marshmallows collide with tart, ripe apple for a scent that reminds me of autumn and autumn treats. As it mellows in my hair, the apple recedes and takes on a floral characteristic as it falls back—the marshmallow stays pretty true, but the vanilla seems to get stronger. Delicious.

    Lilith's Hair Gloss

Lilith's HG is definitely reminiscent of TKO, but is even softer and more pillowy, less herbal. I get primarily lavender and vanilla, with the white musk and hops in the background making it a little 'fluffier' and 'chewier' than lavender and vanilla would be on their own. The result is a downy lavender cloud of hair gloss that's comforting and pretty.

    Slay!

Slay is amazing and intense. The black patch, red musk, and tobacco start off as a triad of balanced players, with the oudh, amber, and cacao following closely behind. The oudh is definitely present, but at least on me, stays in check due to the strength and saturation of the other notes. This is not for the faint of heart—there would be no blending into the woodwork with this on. The amber comes forward on the drydown and makes this even more wearable. Musky and sexy. Not an everyday scent for me, but so good!

    White Rose Hair Gloss

White rose buds, with vanilla tea, benzoin, orris, coconut meat, and frankincense. I've long been a big fan of White Rose the perfume oil, so was delighted to snag a bottle of White Rose hair gloss. The scent is very true to the perfume oil on me, with orris, frankincense, and benzoin grounding the sweet scent of white roses. The vanilla tea and coconut meat notes are the most subtle to me, although I can pick up on them both. Overall, this plays out like an incense-y, orris-y white rose. The orris is truly great here, one of my favorite applications of that note. So glad to be able to spray this in my hair!

Wander Darkling in the Eternal Space

Wander Darkling in the Eternal Space is so interesting. Wet, it smells like peanut butter, jelly, powder, and vetiver. Then it starts to shift and the vanilla, myrrh, and patch take a front seat, with the ambrette and rose petals pouring in between the cracks. It remains a vintage-reminiscent scent on me, with the vetiver retaining an edge that's nearly animalic. I like it, it's almost like a surprise gourmand. It's already smoothed out with some aging, and I anticipate that it will get even better with more time.

    The Bindle

The Bindle is jasmine incense on me, with smoke and spice complicating but not overwhelming. Agree that this is jasmine-forward, especially in the wet and early drydown stages. Definitely for jasmine lovers, of which I am one. Reminds me more of Peitho than anything else, and Peitho is wonderful so that's a true compliment.

    504 Gateway Time-out

504 Gateway Time-out reminds me of some classic BPAL...maybe Ultraviolet? This is mint, citrus, and a touch of snowy ozone on me, refreshing but also a little discomfiting. If this is a digital dead end, it's a nice one.

    Narr

Narr is sweet almond buttercream with honey and milk, skewing very sweet and foody on my skin. The fig note helps cut it a bit, but it's dessert from the wet stage to drydown. Delicious stuff, but something I'd need to be in the right mood for, as it makes me hungry!

    Pink Fuzzy Handcuffs

Definitely reminiscent of Rose Jam! Pink Fuzzy Handcuffs is one fun scent: sweet pink rose and vanilla, with a decided candy finish. Even with the slight cotton candy edge, I find it very wearable, not too sweet. So glad I picked this up.

Woman Dragging Her Aroused Lover Across a Bridge

Woman Dragging Her Aroused Lover Across a Bridge is rosewood-heavy on me, with oak, ambrette, and hinoki trailing. The amber and smoky vanilla husk sort of flow in around everything else, making this well-blended and without visible seams. It's a very light and sultry wood blend, and it's genuinely surprising how soft and suggestive this is given the notes. On the drydown, it goes a bit caramel, like whipped caramel woods with a hint of something herbal. Really nice.
