    Dumb Cake

This is the scent of an awkward encounter with a Yule-evoked doppelgänger mate: spectral cologne, blurry herbs, fireplace ash, and a dusting of crumbs. Dorian Dopplegänger! Dumb Cake smells like Dorian on the other side of the looking glass. The spectral cologne note is pretty great—like a luminous Dorian. The blurry herbs and dusting of crumbs are very faint...there's just an edge of something foody here, like white cake and the barest hint of perhaps rosemary? The ash is also spectral—pure grey-white, rather than gritty, sooty black. It's fantastic, and I will enjoy every drop (and endeavor to get some on my husband, because I think this would be amazing on him).

    Gently, Gently Bath Oil

A great, warm hug of relief: snow-dusted carnation and sweet clove. Gently, Gently is just the nicest combination of carnation and clove. Carnation is already a 'spicy floral' to my nose, so the clove really enhances that and brings out the peppery quality in fresh carnations. I don't pick up an overt snow note here, just the sense that these carnations are 'snow-dusted' as in the description. I will likely need more of this. Not only does it make for a beautiful bath, but this would be great for using as a moisturizer and layering with scents like Alice, Eclipses Be, and Clémence.

    Clean the Air

An oil for use when you need to banish sh*tty vibes, the residue of petty arguments, low-level irritations, and the malocchio tossed by rude randos. In some cases, this can be utilized to actively banish certain spirits, but ymmv. This blend contains angelica essential oil, palo santo, Roman chamomile, and camphor oil. The White Window Hair Gloss

Lily of the valley, osmanthus, white oakmoss, silvered orchid and ambergris accord. The White Window HG does smell white, like a white flower extravaganza. Lily of the valley (one of my fave notes), plus osmanthus and orchid—supported by ambergris and oakmoss. If you love white florals, don't miss this! It's really elegant.

    The Queen of Love

O Venus, beauty of the skies, To whom a thousand temples rise, Gaily false in gentle smiles, Full of love-perplexing wiles; O goddess, from my heart remove The wasting cares and pains of love. Red rose petals, benzoin, honey myrtle and ambrette seed. The Queen of Love smells like a classic BPAL, like Persephone or Spellbound, something unified through the prism of red rose. Red rose is the dominant note on me, closely followed by benzoin. The honey myrtle adds both a honeyed and a honeyed floral note, and the ambrette throws a musky blur over everything. It's a resiny (incensey), red rose, musky, honeyed blend, managing to be sexy, comforting, and nostalgic in equal measures. So glad I picked this up, it definitely telegraphs Venus but also love in so many dimensions.
  7. Aged patchouli and ambrette with burgundy pitch, labdanum, orange blossom, gurjum balsam, and white sandalwood. I'll pretty much try anything with patchouli, so this hopped right into my cart. The patch pulls ahead with the ambrette, but it's brightened and softened by the orange blossom and the sandalwood. The balsam gives it a tangy touch that keeps it from being too relaxing and sleepy—make no mistake, this is a sexy spray. But I can also see myself spritzing a room just to be surrounded by its happy, hazy radiance. I think a lot of people will dig the incensy vibe of this atmo spray—it reminds me of some of the wonderful Fred Soll sticks I've burned. Earthy, sensuous, blood pressure-lowering stuff. Like the spray equivalent of a smoky eye done in copper, gold, bronze, and dark brown—smudged a little after a long kiss. Or y'know, a tortoiseshell dildo. One of my favorite atmos yet.

  9. Because nothing says “scrappy indie perfumer with authority-figure issues” like a pachyderm who’s too P.O.’ed to poop. Ambergris accord, Mysore sandalwood, ambrette seed, cypress, nagarmotha, and grey agarwood. God, I really hope someone asks me what I'm wearing when I have this on some time. Constipated Elephant Alchemy Lab is a nuzzle-y soft heap of pale greys and browns, earthy and woodsy and with a vocal hit of ambergris that always smells to me salty, caramelized, and resiny. Wet, I get a terpenic shot of the cypress and nagarmotha, outdoorsy and gently bracing. It quickly shifts to whispering woods, with the agarwood and sandalwood both detectible and the ambrette seed adding something both slightly nutty and gourmand but also amberishly, resiny smooth. The ambergris reinforces this smoothness, filling in the wood's grain with a natural sweetness and a touch of the sea. It's beautiful.

    The Pool of Tears

`I wish I hadn't cried so much!' said Alice, as she swam about, trying to find her way out. `I shall be punished for it now, I suppose, by being drowned in my own tears! That will be a queer thing, to be sure! However, everything is queer to-day.' A sea of salty tears drowning out Alice's light floral perfume. The Pool of Tears on me is a hazy aquatic mingled with a very subtle floral, perhaps carnations? I like the watery floral effect, and it absolutely conjures up Alice's tears. Eventually the aquatic does 'swallow up' the florals on my skin, and the drydown is primarily a fresh, breezy, oceanic smell. Aquatic lovers will definitely enjoy this one!

    Get Your Shit Together

For when you’re feeling out of control, scattered, and overwhelmed. Clove oil and bud, wild orange oil, star anise essential oil, myrtle essential oil, ginger root essential oil, and patchouli root. This small set of oils has been designed for ritual and can also be worn as perfumes because we could all use a helping hand right about now. Get Your Shit Together was created, composed, and consecrated under the healing, calming auspices of Luna. I Died For Beauty

I died for beauty but was scarce Adjusted in the tomb, When one who died for truth was lain In an adjoining room. He questioned softly why I failed? "For beauty," I replied. "And I for truth, the two are one; We brethren are," he said. And so, as kinsmen met a night, We talked between the rooms, Until the moss had reached our lips, And covered up our names. The Venusian splendor of ylang ylang and violet stirred by hyssop, frankincense, and grave loam. Even though I'm a bit wary of ylang ylang in general, I had to buy a bottle of I Died For Beauty because I love Emily Dickinson. I put some on this morning and as I was riding the train, I kept bringing my wrist up to my nose, which is dangerous when you're hanging on for dear life but is a true testament to this blend! Right out of the bottle the ylang ylang was strong, and then I could smell the violet. It's rich and purple but even wet it's not completely overpowering. The resins really work to enbolden the violet but also take the sweet edge off the floral. Lastly I smell the grave loam, which smells like oakmoss to me. As it dries down, the mossy note(s) really emerge---just as in the poem, the moss rises up! The violet and resins together play across like a deep, purpley kind of incense that has a similar feel to me as Gypsy Queen. On my skin, it's in that same deep and complicated floral 'family.' It smells like violets with tiny curls of smoke rising from them or a hazy, dark, mysterious interior space much like a tomb heaped with funereal wreaths. A great capture of the poem, and a surprising lovely blend on my skin, despite the notes which normally aren't so great on me! I'm really happy to have my little bottle.
