lemon pledge and ozone. Dry this ends up as a generic citrus with a hint of pine and ozone. No incense here at all. Nice - but nothting that rocks my world.

My nose wants to like this because it is so ethereal. Unfortunately all I take from this one is some kind of boutique cleaning solution. Too bad...

    Kathmandu

wint-o-green lifesavers in the bottle and wet. Also when wet a gentle sandalwood and cedar. When dry this is quite a calming scent. The cedar take top place and there is a slight anise note there and also a very vague floral (is that the lotus?) If I could get the initial wintergreen to go away I would really like this, but I can still smell it. Don't get me wrong - I love wintergreen - just not as a body scent. Boooooo! Because I really like what is going on with everything else here.

    The Cracked Bell

Ok - who smacked me in the face and split my lip while I was burning incense? That's how I felt when this was wet and also on the drydown. Wet - i get the metallic right away over my mental version of head shop incense. Dry - this scent is DEAD STILL. Like you are frozen in your tracks after hearing a creepy sound in a cemetary, in the middle of the night, when there is no moon, and then all you can hear and feel is silence. I can taste the blood. This one freaks me out a bit. I am wondering how different it will be if I use it as a room scent so it doesn't react with my chemisty. I will have to try that before I commit this one to the swaps because I am not convinced that this is a bad scent for me. It would just have to be used in the proper context. It's lovely in a twisted sort of way.

    Midnight Mass

I'm still on the fence with this one. Wet - I get heavy frankincense (I think) and a slight bit of honey. Dry - the heady incense feel calms down a bit and leaves me with what I can only term as "general liturgical incense" with a burning candle wax kicker. For some reason this makes me think of funeral service incense and not something like Christmas midnight mass. It's not a bad scent - I'm just not sure what occasion I would wear/use it for.

    Anathema

I feel like I am in a hospital room filled with flowers. Wet - lots of honeysuckle and the very crisp smell of the vetivert. Since I have not had the chance to put straight vetivert on my skin I can only assume here that I amp it. This is very clean almost to the point of being clinical. Not at all what I was expecting. As this dries it I get almost equal amounts of the honeysuckle and the vetivert. Like they can't seem to decide who's boss. I also get the feeling that this one is going to fade on me fast. Not an unpleasant scent, in fact, the crispness kind of wakes me up. I'm just not sure that this is one that I would go out of my way for.

    The Sleeper

Holy cow - crypt musk...I knew even before I looked at the notes that this was something that my brain thinks would be the smell of a cemetery, at the end of Fall when all of the flowers are in decay. Oh, and did I mention that it was night as well? and spooky. Wet - lots of sharp rosemary. Dry - this morphs into something strangely beautiful. The lily gets stronger and the floral that I can't identify - that must be the opium poppy is there too. The jasmine seems to appear only when I inhale DEEPLY. Ok- I can't keep my nose away from my wrist - which seems to impede my typing. I'm going through the smell rolodex in my brain to figure out why I know this scent. There is also something warm at the bottom that I guess is the musk. All in all very evocative - but of what I am not sure. But it certainly caused a reaction here. Glad that I have 5ml of this one!

    Mi-Go Brain Canister

I almost didn't even put this one on to test because when I sniffed the bottle it smelled like vomit and bubblegum. Where the hell is my head today? I think I am still feeling the after effects of the Laudanum. But I put it on. Wet - this is actually quite calming. Very well blended in that it is hard to pick out the individual note other than - fruity, flowery and spicy. Yeah - helpful isn't it?! Dry - I find it interesting. I can actually catch the ginger which normally just gets sucked into my skin and disappears. Very fruity with a dash of spice. Wow - this was an awful review. I'll do better with the next one. LOL

    Laudanum

i only have one word for this one - NASTY. It smelled nasty and it gave me the feeling of nasty and the bloody stuff will not let go of my skin. Wet - this was all sassafrass and the nutmeg. Dry it was all sassafrass with some crusty licorice and what I guess was the poppy trying to break through. This gave me a headache and made my mood horrid. I have not had this strong of a reaction to a scent in a long time.

    Hellion

I am totally shocked by my reaction to this one. Fruity and I are not very good friends but this knocked me out! Wet this is juicy, deep dark plum, champaca and a whiff of cinnamon. Dry this throws like mad. It's still very plumy (sp?), the champaca has receeded a bit and the sandalwood DOES smell scorched which I think is really cool. I think the pachouli and must are there but way, way in the background. This baby smells deep red-violet! Really deep. And naughty. I can't decide if I would wear this or not as it is quite heady - but I love it nonetheless.

    Lucretia

gorgeous - just gorgeous. Wet - the amber and violet compete for dominance. And I am such a sucker for violet. I must amp amber something major. There is a slight hint of green spice which is probably the sage. Dry this has a slight powder to it but still retains the amber with the violet sitting right underneath. This one smells like money to me. Old money. Like a dignified, prematurely grey haired woman in blue jeans and a white t-shirt (where the hell that came from I have no idea) with some big honkin antique jewelry. Go figure. This one does make me want to jump the DH though - too bad he is feeling ill and is asleep... Another one for the big bottle list!

    Berenice

in the bottle I kinda freaked out since it smelled like my grandmother's bedroom - and that's not a good thing since the woman was a bit of a freak. I know that isn't too nice to say about one's departed g-ma but this was not a nice woman. Thank goodness this went on completely different. Someone before mentioned drier sheets - wow - right on the mark there. But dry this one is amazing. I was worried that the lily was going to be too powerful - as stargazers kind of take over a room when they are freshly cut. But these play nice with all of the other notes. Strange that I can smell them all. This smells like spring - when the first flowers are beginning to bloom through the remaining snow. Love it. Now I just need to find someone willing to let one of their bottles of this go.......

    The Red Queen

in the imp and wet this one is all about cherries. Huge, ready to burst, ripe cherries. As it dries the wood comes forward - the mahogany mixed with a slight burning wood of some sort- with a hint of what my mind recalls of burning leaves. Now if the cherry would just come back for a while... Dry the cherries are replaced by the current which sits just under the wood. I can't see wearing this one but I will certainly use it as a room scent when I want to remember what Fall feel like.

    Utrennyaya

In the imp and wet this one screams of mint. Not a note that I go out of my way to choose. Dry - this one is a whole other story. The mint fades quickly (thank goodness) leaving an ultra crisp floral that has a slight wet edge. I get almost no rose at all which I find odd since rose is always good with my chemisty. I can bearly eek out the violet. All in all the florals seem to blend together as one here. Also glad the the sandalwood stays way at the bottom I could definitely wear this one daily. Looks like another one for the "buy a bottle" list.

    Zorya

Holy shit batman! This one really took me by surprise. I am generally afraid of jasmine simply because the floral garlands that you hang in front of your buddha image here in Thailand or offer at a spirit house or at a Wat almost always contain jasmine and it is very heady. I can only take it in small doses. Wet this one is mostly musk with flowers that most definitely give you the feel of night. And the jasmine is there but not with force. There is also a faint tinge of smoke lurking in the background. Dry this is one of the most awesome scents. Reminds me of an ultra classy and non-pretentious woman. Someone who is sure of herself and doesn't have to prove ANYTHING to ANYONE. NEED A BOTTLE OF THIS ONE NOW!!!!

    Hunger

ok I amp vanilla way too much. This seems to take the fun out of alot of scents. Not that I don't like vanilla - just that I do not like TOO MUCH vanilla. So wet - this is wicked thick vanilla, very ripe sweet orange and a hint of the black narcissus (so that's what black narcissus smells like!) As it dries the vanilla calms down a bit giving the floral some space. For me this is quite a grounding scent but not enough to merit a full bottle.

    Dragon's Milk

this is the scent equivalent to comfort food for me. Very heavy on the vanilla - like a creme brulee or sugar cookie. But the dragon's blood keeps it from being too foodie. Wet this is all vanilla but on the dry down the dragon's blood comes to the surface. This gives it a nice edge. Perfect for those days when you find yourself counting to 10 way too many times so as not to throttle someone. Good thing I have 5ml of this! I count to 10 ALOT.

    Fire of Love

ugh - I had high hopes for this one. I certainly does not make me want to jump the husband. Boo. I get cedar and pepper on a musky base with a slight burnt edge. And no ginger at all. It's not a bad scent - just not what I had envisioned. It might be better as a room fragrance - at least for me.

    Moon Rose

OMG this is beautiful. Wet this come across as moonflower and delicate fresh, wet cut grass with a hint of the most fragile rose. As it dries down the rose comes forward with the moonflower and greenery playing backup. chaste and pure of spirit - very feminine without being "girly" This is a scent that no one would ever expect me to wear. HA! They are soooooo wrong.

    Black Rose

The most velvety roses ever. There is no question that these are red, red, red - dried blood red. The amber comes up a bit more as this one dries down on me. I will have to wait and see if it ends up overpowering the roses - as they are competing right now. A fantastic, somber scent. I would love to be able to wear this daily but in the horrid heat and humidity here in the tropics of Southeast Asia I am afraid that I might kill someone with it. This one will only come out at night. But definitely a keeper!!!

    The Ghost

Excellent. What a lovely blend of white or pastel florals. The only note that my nose picks up instantly is the ivy. Too cool. The combination of florals seems to alternate here on me. And although I cannot get a true indication of which particular floral is at the front at any time - I can definitely notice the differences. I have a feeling that this one is going to have quite a bit of staying power. I expected this to be much "sadder" on than it it. It has a hint of melancholy but remains hopeful if you know what I mean. Like sending someone to a better place with fond wishes. Ok - I have decided that this one ROCKS!

    Rose Cross

I am sitting in front of a huge box of BPAL (courtesy of some fab members here who have let go of some of their booty on ebay) And since I am a sucker for anything rose - I grabbed this one first. WWAAHHHHHHHHH! Unfortunately, and much to my chagrin this one is medicinal and slightly band-aid-esque on me. Quite strange actually. I usually have very good luck with rose scents and I am mystified as to why this one just doesn't do it for me. It started out as a pale, new rose with the abovementioned hints of first aid and then the rose just poof - disappeared turning into light powder. I am way bummed about this one. Good news is that almost everything else that I have tried today has exceeded my expectations!
