    Pumpkin Spice Everything

There is pumpkin in this -more pumpkin flesh than buttery - with lots of spice. The cinnamon seems dominant and is rounded out by nutmeg & ginger. It's a nice scent, and I love the name since I go crazy for pumpkin spice everything in the fall. But I think I enjoy my BPAL pumpkin spice more when its blended with other notes, like all the numbered Pumpkin Patch blends.

    Devils Night Wedding 2016

This one might be a bit hard to find, as it was a limited edition from 2007. The first time I smelled it, I was reminded of Black No 1 because it smells like burning leaves. The Death of Autumn: Dark amber, dead leaves, khus, saffron, bitter clove, chrysanthemum, camellia, galangal, and a drop of oud.

    Milk and Cream Notes

I can't think of anything that is just strawberry plus milk/cream, but here's some past LE's that may be helpful: BEAVER MOON 2007: For your pleasure and amusement, we present this year's incarnation of Beaver Moon: wild cherry with vanilla cream accord, and a hint of strawberry. This has a very creamy, almost cheesecake-type base, with more cherry than strawberry. BEAVER MOON 2010: Here we go with the double entendres again! Strawberry and peach cheesecake, heavy on the sticky glaze. This is less creamy than the 2007 version with lots of sweet strawberry/peach sugar. L'ESSENCE DE L'ENGOUEMENT: French vanilla, pink candies, strawberry sugar, and orange blossom. This is a sweet vanilla/strawberry scent with just a little orange blossom. WHITE CHOCOLATE AND STRAWBERRY (Box of Chocolates 2009) If white chocolate works on you, this is a very yummy and simple scent. WHITE CHOCOLATE, STRAWBERRY, AND WHITE PEPPER TRUFFLE (Box of Chocolates 2010) This was similar to the previous year's chocolate, but with a sweeter strawberry and lots of white pepper.

Anise, Aniseed, Licorice, Liquorice, Fennel, Ouzo?

One of my favourite licorice scents is available as part of the Lab's Gris Grimly collection: Hideous Heart: A macabre Valentine: wild black cherries, licorice root, and cinnamon. My other favourites are past LE's from the Trading Post, but you may be able to find them in the sales section: LICORICE BATS: Black licorice with cacao nibs and anise. Black Pumpkin Floss: Pumpkin candyfloss spiked with black licorice, black currant, and smoked maple. ETA: Here's one more from the General Catalog: Kyoto: A gentle, soothing blend of cherry blossom, white sandalwood and star anise.

    The Best Mint Blends

Both have a very similar bright, chilly, and sweet peppermint note. Lick It Now is very sugary with a hint of vanilla. Peppermint Creams has a base of vanilla cream with a hint of marzipan.

    The Best Mint Blends

I wore both of those scents today. The mint faded out fast on both. Lick It Now lasted, in total, about an hour on my wrist. Peppermint Creams lasted about six hours.

    Lick It Now

This 2013 version has lots and lots of sugar, quite a bit of peppermint, and just the tiniest amount of vanilla in the drydown. I think there's more than just white sugar in this mix, I thought I detected some spun sugar-cotton candy briefly in the wet stage. This is quite yummy, although not a favourite of the Lick It series, nor my favourite peppermint scent of this year's Yules (that would be Unmentionable Peppermint Creams). But I will happily hang onto my decant.

    Mother Shub's Unmentionable Peppermint Creams

This has lots of sweet, zingy peppermint, like the Lick It series, over a lovely vanilla-cream note with the tiniest hint of marzipan. The throw is light but the wear-length seems pretty go so far. I adore peppermint scents, so I'm very happy with this and considering a bottle in my future.

    The Garden in Winter

This starts off lots of poppies and primrose, then a hint of lily, then finally a soft white rose (like the one in Phasmophobia) with the faintest hint of snow in the drydown. The snow is a bit powdery, and not at all minty or evergreen-ish or eucalyptus/menthol. This is quite a lovely scent, I'm very happy with my decant.

    The recurring Yules

I have tried every single Lick It EXCEPT this year's (my decants haven't arrived yet). But I don't have all of them available for skin test. So I'll do my best to remember each one: Lick It 2005: What else could possibly be more lickable at Yuletide? This is a candy cane perfume, minty, sweet and sugared. This one is a pretty even blend of peppermint, vanilla, and sugar. Lick It Again 2006: Every holiday season should be full of lewd suggestions and filthy double entendres, right? This is a new take on last year's Lick It -- a peppermint candy cane with an extra jolt of sugar. From what I recall, this had a lot of sugar, quite a bit of vanilla, and not too much peppermint. Lick It One More Time 2007: Every holiday season should be full of lewd suggestions and filthy double entendres, right? This is a new take on Lick It and Lick It Again -- a peppermint candy cane with a flash of vanilla and an extra jolt of sugar. I remember this one had a LOT of vanilla, quite a bit of sugar, and just a little peppermint. Lick It Like You Mean It 2008: Every holiday season should be full of lewd suggestions and filthy double entendres, right? Lick it in earnest! Lick it with vigor! Peppermint candy cane with an extra jolt of sugar. This is one of my two favourite versions of the whole series. It's very similar to the original Lick It, but has a light skin musk in addition to the sweet notes. Lick It Till It's Sticky 2009: The stickiest thing you shouldn't lick this winter. Peppermint candy cane with an extra jolt of sugar. This is the only one in the series I did not like. It had the traditional notes, plus some kind of weird menthol top note. LICK IT VIGOROUSLY 2010: What else could possibly be more lickable at Yuletide? This is a candy cane perfume, minty, sweet and sugared. This one reminded me of the original Lick It, but with an extra note of peppermint. LICK IT DISCREETLY 2011: This year’s minty double ententre! A sticky, chilly peppermint candy cane with sweet vanilla and an extra jolt of sugar. This version was the most sugary and sweetest of the group. LICK IT SOFTLY 2012: This year's minty double ententre! A sticky, sweet peppermint candy cane with a copious dusting of vanilla. This is my other favourite version. The sugar and peppermint are on the light side, the vanilla is really dominant in this version, much more so than the 2007 version. It also has a bit more wear-length than any of the previous versions.

    Pumpkin Ice Cream Bath Oil

I used this in the bath this morning and believe me, I didn't want to leave my tub. This is SO delicious. The scent is very similar to last year's Pumpkin V (2012) perfume, pumpkin with lots of vanilla and a hint of spice. Pumpkin Ice Cream is a bit sweeter and less spicy than last year's Pumpkin Pie bath oil, and a bit more vanilla-ish than the Marshmallow Pumpkin bath oil of several years ago. Like all the Lab's bath oils, it's moisturizing without being greasy, and it scented my tub (and bathroom, and me!) beautifully.

    Lavina

This starts off with the two mints, one very sweet like the Lick It scents and the other more herbal, like garden mint. Underneath all the mint I can pick out green tea and a bit of neroli. This dries down to a dark fruity blend, somewhat similar to Alice's Evidence, with a hint of mint. The throw seems to be moderate-to-light. I am a huge fan of minty scents, and I like fruit too, so I am very much enjoying this scent so far.

    Pumpkin S'mores Atmosphere Spray

This is quite nice and yummy, but not as exciting as I had hoped for. I get a little pumpkin at first spray, but otherwise it's mostly spiced graham crackers and brown sugar. No chocolate or marshmallow that I can detect, and the smoke note is quite light and well-balanced. The throw and staying power seems to be on the moderate side.
  14. TheIceMaiden

    Ooky

This starts off lots of almond and a very sweet, rich buttercream frosting note. As it dries, I get a pumpkin bread/cake sort of scent. I don't get lemon, and the marzipan is more almond extract than actual marzipan (like in A Game Called Yes and No). Even so, this is delicious...it's like biting into a pumpkin cupcake with almond frosting. The throw is moderate to light, and it fades rather quickly.
  15. Hopefully Gingerbread Poppet will come back with the Yules this year: GINGERBREAD POPPET Warm, cozy gingerbread spiced with nutmeg, clove and cinnamon. Here are two Yules from a few years ago that you may be able to find in Sales: THE WALTZ OF THE FLOWERS White musk, Madonna lily, jasmine sambac, ylang ylang, bourbon vanilla, and clove. This is very floral, but has a lovely vanilla-clove base. GROßVATER TANZ The evening’s celebration winds down with a traditional German folk song: rice porridge, candied fruits, heavy cream, powdered clove, and Lebkuchen. This has a very strong clove note, plus notes of cookies and other sweets. It's one of my favourite Yules. My all-time favourite foody clove is Kourabiedes, but it's almost impossible to find now.

    Harvest Moon 2013

This starts off with a bitter, earthy, gritty sort of leaf smell, like leaves that are starting to rot. It reminds me of the leaf note in October and The Death of Autumn. The bitterness fades out quickly on me and I get a much subtler leaf note combined with a soft red rose. The rose smells like a combination of tea rose and The Peacock Queen on me, it's very pretty. The drydown smells a lot like patchouli to me, and patchouli is not my friend. So, alas, I think I'm going to have to pass on this.

    Alice in the Pumpkin Patch

Invidia's review is perfect. if Alice had fallen down the rabbit hole in October, this would be the scent of her Mad Tea Party. The pumpkin note in this is delicious, like pumpkin pie without traditional spice notes or butter. In the early stages, there's a hint of Alice's tea mingling with the pumpkin. The carnation spice comes out in the drydown. This is a light, close to the skin scent. Alice is one of my favourite scents so I'm very happy she visited the Pumpkin Patch this year.

    Theme in Yellow

Theme in Yellow smells like this - freshly carved pumpkins lit by beeswax candles and a hint of smoke. The pumpkin is neither buttery nor spiced, the beeswax is honey-sweet, and the smoke is just a hint in the background. The throw is moderate-to-light and the wearlength seems about average.
  19. TheIceMaiden

    Phasmophobia

This starts off with lots of calla lily with a little dusty white sandalwood. At this stage it reminds me of The Atrocious Attic (minus that scent's lavender note) and Lush's Ghost/Lily Savon soap. The white rose comes in next, with the iced wine faintly in the background. The white amber comes in during the drydown and it mingles beautifully with the rose. I was very much looking forward to this scent, and it doesn't disappoint at all. The throw is moderate and so far it's lasted quite a few hours on my wrists. This classic ghost photo comes to mind when I smell this. I absolutely adore this scent, and plan to get a full bottle sometime soon.

    Blue Lollipops

Yes, this is a blue lollipop - slightly tart blueberry, sugar, maybe a little vanilla on the drydown. It's a very light, close to the skin scent (although it does get a bit stronger as it dries), but it lasts for hours. Very adorable!
  21. TheIceMaiden

    Fern Frost

This is lovely and simple, fern and a light minty-slush scent. The only scent with fern I've tried before is Pontarlier and this is similar, but less potent. This is a lovely scent and softer than most of the evergreen-snow Yule scents.
  22. TheIceMaiden

    The Other Hot Chocolate

This starts off dark and milk chocolate cocoa powders, with a faint, sinister musty-dusty smell. The dust fades quick and it's now cocoa with marshmallows - not fluffy marshmallows, but the little dried ones that come in packets of hot chocolate powder. The drydown is pure milk chocolate, similar (but not identical) to Bliss. This is a very yummy scent, but it stays close to the skin and only lasts a couple of hours. I really like it and will probably get a bottle eventually.

    Sweet Winter Berry Ale

If this had been sold on its own, I probably wouldn't have purchased it because although I like drinking ale, its not something I'd want to smell like. This, however, smells like fizzy berry (raspberry perhaps?) soda! The fizziness reminds me both of Geek Goth and Polynesian Pop. There might be a drop of mint in here too. This is really good, a pleasant surprise for me.

    Love

This is quite beautiful and probably my favourite of the April Fool's update. There's a lot of sugared rose from beginning to end, and it is similar to Hope. There's some strawberry in the wet stage too, with the vanilla and marshmallow in the background. Love is love!

    Uncle Brian

When I got my decants on Monday, this smelled like all sour merlot, all the time, and I was heartbroken. I decided to try it again today and it's wonderful! This starts off with a sweet, creamy mix of lime and orange with a hearty dose of cotton candy. As it dries, I do get the occasional brief whiff of the merlot, still slightly sour but not overwhelming. I get some raspberry, then it dries down to a cotton candy ice cream sort of scent. The throw is pretty light, but this lasts for a few hours. I am definitely hanging onto my decant to see how this ages (and if the merlot behaves) in the next month or so before I decide on a bottle.
