    Doc Constantine (2006)

The more I wear this scent, the more I like it. On me, it's mostly leahter/cedar. It's not really what I would choose for a "sexy" scent for myself, but on the right guy it would be fabulous.

    Treat #2

Mmm...stupid orange! Go away! Seriously, if it wasn't for the orange, I'd be utterly smitten. On me, it's leans towards the coconut and fig. I love coconut. This scent tends to lean towards the "sunblock" side of coconut, though. Maybe a little cocoa too. There's something odd about the "texture". It's kind of like a marshmellow if that makes any sense (like Arcana's Haint to me). Definately complex and yummy. I think it'll grow on me.

    Hunter Moon 2004

I wasn't sure if would like this when I first sniffed it. I think I was smelling the leaves. It had a men's cologne feel to it. No wine or smoke on me. I've had it on about 2 hours now and it's settled down into a deep, yet gentle animal musk. I still prefer Coyote, but this isn't bad. Definately a guy's scent though. (Which of course means I'll wear it anyway!)

    Job Interview Recommendations

I say wear whatever makes you feel confident! Maybe keep in mind which ones you get the most compliments on. For me, it's Spooky. I wouldn't want to wear something too powerful like Black Opal (or Opium by YSL) because I wouldn't want to distract the interviewer or make them think I was trying too hard to look mature.

    Typhon

A fearsome creature from Greek lore. Typhon was born from the marriage of Earth and Hell, and is said to be so terrible in aspect that even the gods themselves flee from his venomous gaze. Our own blend of Earth and Hell: red patchouli, sandalwood, black musk and vetiver. Ressurected Version: I tried some on at will-call last night because I've been contemplating buying a bottle for a while. This is definately an earthy, dark scent, but there's also something smokey about it. Just a little smoke. It had decent lasting power and throw, but it's not a "pretty" perfume. That's for sure! I thought it was great, but I already own a couple of smokey scents, so I don't think I would wear it enough to make a full bottle worthwhile.

    Werewolf scents?

And Wolf Moon is back! May I also suggest Coyote? It certainly has an animal quality to it.

    What scents are masculine? Gender-neutral?

Yes! Villian is fabulous for a man. As I mentioned in my review, it smelled like the Old Spice shaving cream (old school style!) my dad used to use. It's a nice gentleman's scent. Very classy...in a Lucius Malfoy kind of way! I also reccomend Coyote for something a little more rugged and less formal than Villian. Funny, cause I happen to be wearing it right now. It's a nice, masculine scent without having overpowering throw that might turn a guy off. Good for daily wear.
  8. From my personal experience... Mme. Moriarty: Similar base, but fruitier. Heavy on the plum. Snake Charmer: Um...how to describe this? Somewhere between Snake Oil and Mme. Moriarty. A little fruitier, but not too fruity. Good luck getting your hands on some though. Vixen: Snake Oil with some kind of citrus-cleanser start. At least to me. Vixen on me was nasty at first, then transformed into a slightly less potent Snake Oil after a short while. Maybe it would work better on you.
  9. From my experience, nothing BPAL smells like Heavenly. Just buy more of it. I guess I'd have to agree with others on Black Opal being maybe vaguely somewhat like it. Very elegant and a little powdery. Snake Oil doesn't really resemble it, but it's a good staple in any person's BPAL collection.

    What's the best coconut blend?

Obatala, I agree is a good choice. Tarot: The Star had no coconut and actually smelled horrid on me. Spooky is my favorite for coconut though. As for Creepy, it's truly coconut rum, not just plain coconut. There is a difference.
  11. The scents with the most throw are the ones you hate.

    Searching for the Perfect Vanilla?

I still think Underpants was the best vanilla, but only after I wore it for a good hour or two for the butterrum to fade. Very smooth and creamy. I have yet to find a vanilla so creamy since.

    The Star

Pfft...mint coconut my ass. In the imp (very kindly swapped to me) this reminded me immediately of an herbal heat pad I have. The mint sticks in your nose and there are soft herbs behind it. Shortly after putting it on, I still got that "hangs with you mintiness" followed by "OMG YUCK WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!" X_X It's like fried fish or something. I want to smell my wrist to identify it, but every time I do I get grossed out. I think this will be a strictly anointing oil only.

    Nyarlathotep

Brooding, yet electric: the scent of buried secrets, roiling nightmares, the essence of the Crawling Chaos, the Father of Knives and Locusts, the Hunter in the Dark. This is the blackest of ritual incenses charged with flashes of ozone. This is blackest incence and ozone? Really? I smell like Irish Spring. It's that happy-fresh-soap sent. Very comforting and clean, but not at all like the description.

    Vixen

I have to agree that Vixen is reminiscent of Snake Oil. When I first put it on, I went, "Uck!" cause of...well I'm not sure. Maybe it was the ginger, but it was this citrus-cleanser nastiness. Fortunately, it didn't last and after drydown is turned into a slightly softer, more powdery version on Snake Oil (which I do adore). I guess this is one to try if Snake Oil is too potent for you. But since I already have 2 bottles of Snake Oil, I don't think I'll need an actual bottle of Vixen.
  16. If you like 13 (Oct. 2006 version), you'll like The Body Shop's Amorito.
  17. Yeah. The Reaper and the Flowers has white rose I believe. I love it in the imp, but it goes soapy on me there too. I do enjoy mixing some Rose Red with carrier oil and putting them in a lamp ring. Makes my apartment smell goreous. I just wish I could replicate that on my skin. I do use a scent locket regularly...but it's just not the same...you know?
  18. I have horrible luck with rose. I love fresh rose (I adore Rose Red), but it ALWAYS goes soapy on my skin. Seance almost didn't...but it does. Does anyone else have this problem who has found a solution? Could it just be a BPAL roses thing?

    Krampus

Huh? I thought Krampus was almost exactly how it's described. I tried this at will-call and at first it was very woody, but quickly mellowed out to a leather/wood blend. Not too dusty. I didn't even remember there was musk in there.

    Black Lily

Wow...I don't care for florals, but this is just lovely. Fresh, dark, femenine. It doesn't get soapy or cloying. This is definately a "dignified lady" kind of scent to be worn on a special occasion. It teeters on the edge of being an "old lady" scent, but doesn't quite go over it. The only downside to it is that it fades on my skin very quickly and becomes rather muted. I'd have to call it, "High class and elegant rather than sexy."

    Thirteen (13): October 2006

First impression: Orange soap. I had to let this dry for a while and wait it out. It reminded me of another perfume, but I couldn't figure it out till now. It smells almost identical to a combo of Body Shop perfumes I wear together (Altaro + Amorito), but maybe a hair fruitier. 13 definately becomes a rather indescribeable scent. As stated earlier, it's not quite fruity, or foody, or floral. It lands somewhere in between all that. *sniffs again* Definately a warm, comfort kind of scent. Good for fall/winter. Could be worn in the daytime. It's not really sexy enough to be a date scent. This would also work on a guy or even a child. /end rambling

    Coffee notes?

*Does the Miskatonic University tap-dance.* I love it because it has a coffee note, but it's not harsh at all. It's very smoothed out with the Irish cream note.
  23. Dorian is a very sugary tea. The Castle smells a lot like green tea ice cream once it dries. I got some Pit & The Pendulum (sorry, but it's not sold by BPAL anymore) that has a faintly black tea undertone. Um...shoot what was it? I think Ravenous? I reviewed one somewhere that smelled like orange spice tea. And Snow Moon reminds me of a mint medly tea. For something non-BPAL (please don't stone me!) I find that Arcana's "Mutiny" smells VERY similar to Lapsang Suchong tea. Great on my skin...not so much in an oilburner...and it's not for everyone.

    Villain

Villain makes me smell like my dad too! It smells very similar to this mug of Old Spice solid shaving cream he used to use. I loved to sit in the bathroom while he whipped up some shaving cream and put on his "clown face." Ah memories. This is definately a masculine scent, but still very soft and spicy. I never would have guessed Villain would smell like Old Spice based on the description. Glad I got a frimp. I'd buy a bottle for my dad, but I somehow doubt he would wear it.

    Coyote

Fascinating...this is a very animalistic scent. I'm surprise at how much I'm liking this. It's very warm and musky, but it's so soft. It's like...if musk were tea, this is how it would smell. Sometimes musk is overbearing, but it's very gentle in Coyote. It has this quality that smells like an animal, but I'm not really sure how, and not in a bad way either. I would absolutely adore this scent on a guy. It's strong and manly, yet not overpoweringly nauseating like some colognes. "Strong enough for a man, gentle enough for a woman"? In my opinion, Coyote has a lot of potential to be a "sex scent" for those of us who cringe at honey and musks.
