    Quincey Morris

Mmmm... I smell soft leather, cedar, and juicy pear. It's masculine, but the pear adds a certain sweetness that makes it wearable for me too. Very unusual, and very well done! I'll keep my decant and test it further to decide about a possible bottle.

    Dr. John Seward

On me, this was smoky and also syrupy sweet, almost nauseatingly so. It sounds like a wonderful blend, but these notes are just not playing nicely on my skin. Too bad.

    Count Dracula

Mmm, sexy woody spiciness. I was a little bit scared of the black patchouli, but it's superbly blended and does not take over. I love the ginger and clove...mmm. I need a bottle for me...and one for my husband.

    Lucy Westenra

I must be the only person that Lucy just didn't agree with. On me, she is mostly rose, although she smells absolutely divine in the bottle. Citrusy, creamy, floral, and very feminine. But alas, my skin chemistry hates the roses. I'll have to swap away my decant.

    The Bloody Sword

I was expecting this to be very dark and masculine, but it's surprisingly sweet and pleasant. It does have something faintly metallic about it, but it's a very smooth blend, with no note really dominating. Another unexpected winner--I might need a bottle and will definitely keep my decant until I decide.

    Carfax Abbey

I didn't think I'd like this at all, but I got a full set of decants and am in the process of testing all of them--and I've decided that this is one of my favorites! It is a soft, dry, dusty wood and incense smell on me. It behaves really well on my skin, not becoming too strong, masculine, or off-smelling as cedary notes tend to do sometimes. I may need a bottle, and may also need to test it on the husband and see if he needs one too. Great job, Beth!

    The Carpathian Mountains

Mountain air and the scent of crisp snow blanketing the mountain’s flora: Scottish fir, beech, cembra and mugho pine, rhododendron, currant, honeysuckle, raspberry leaf, dwarf juniper, sedge, meadow grass, snowdrop, rose bay, lily of the valley, starwort, lichen and mosses. I did get an initial blast of wintergreen from this, but it faded rapidly into a really beautiful scent reminding me of fresh, cold mountain air and greenery. I really like it, but there are several snowy/outdoor scents that I like better and are in the GC, so I probably won't be getting a bottle. Edited for spelling.

    The Castle

I can't quite tell what this actually smells like. But it is definitely a dark, foreboding scent, perfectly evocative of its concept. I can smell nothing foody, piney, woody, etc.--just old and dark. Don't know if that makes sense. Anyway, while I really appreciate how this blend captures a mood and brings literature to life, I can't say that I personally like the smell on my skin.

    White Moon

This is a very refined, soft, creamy floral. It's light and stays close to the skin, and it's really quite beautiful. I can't pick out the individual floral notes, but thankfully, none of them turn soapy on my skin. I'm glad to have this and will probably keep one of the two bottles I ordered.

    The Brides of Dracula

I was expecting more honey and spice out of this, but I smell no honey and only a hint of spice. It's mostly a floral musk to my nose, and it smells a little bit powdery, but not in a bad way. It's extremely well blended, and surprisingly soft and feminine. I don't usually wear florals, but this might have to go into my next order--for now, I'll keep my decant and see how it works out.

    Wilhelmina Murray

Ack...rose and I just don't get along. I don't even smell any of the other notes, because my skin is just turning the rose to soap. I'll be passing my decant along to a more loving home.

    Samhainophobia

I found Samhainophobia to be very similar to Samhain, but it doesn't have the same sweetness. The spices and patchouli are there, though, and the vetiver doesn't overpower them. I actually like this one more than I thought I would, and am thinking I might actually like it a little bit better than Samhain. I'm undecided about a bottle, but may keep my decant and ponder a bit.

    Pumpkin Queen

I ADORE the queen! She is buttery (but not buttery like Jack), sweet, fruity, and slightly spicy. This is seriously one of the best scents I have ever encountered, and I just want to bathe in it. Unfortunately, it lasts about 15 minutes on my skin. I will have to play with lotions, spritzes for my clothes, scent lockets, etc. to make this work for me, because now that I've smelled it, I'm determined to find a way to wear it. It really is that good. Excellent job, Beth.

    Samhain

Samhain 06: I agree that this year's Samhain is much sweeter and fruitier than last year's, but it still has the bite of patchouli and pine. The patchouli is actually a bit sharp for my taste, but I am reasonably certain that will calm down with age. Overall, I'm very happy that I slipped a bottle of this into my latest order. It's a good one!

    All Saints'

On me, this one is soap, soap, and more soap. If you like florals, it might be lovely, but I honestly smell no incense at all in this.

    Dia de los Muertos

I'm wondering if I even have the same scent as some of the other reviewers... I smell fruit and powder and not much else. My skin eats it up, so that all the scent is gone within 15 minutes. I had high hopes for this one, but alas, it's a no-go for me.

    Sugar Skull

Sugar Skull 2006 is very dark and sweet, and the comparison to maple syrup is accurate. It's a strong scent with lots of throw, but I'm just not as crazy about it as I am about lots of other sweet BPAL scents, so I'll be finding a new home for the decant I have.

    Devil's Night

Mmm, sweet smoky sugary musk. It doesn't smell boozy at all, which is fine with me! It's very warm-smelling, and perfect for autumn. I may have to sneak a bottle in with my next order. Oh, and this is the 2006 version I'm testing.

    All Souls

Hmmm...where's the cake? All I smell is a light, sweet incense. It's nice enough but not what I was expecting.

    Punkie Night

This is a nice, warm, non-spicy apple cider scent. I prefer the complexity of Harvest Moon '06 as an apple scent, and since I have a few bottles of that, I'll be passing on this one. Still, it's very well-done and perfect for the fall.

    Creepy

This is a strong, buttery caramel scent. No apple to be found anywhere. It's very sweet and definitely smells edible, but it doesn't work well as a perfume, at least for me. It would probably make a good room scent, except I think it might make me too hungry!

    Delphi

I usually love any BPAL blend with honey, but this doesn't work for me at all. It turns soapy and dusty and slightly herbal, and it's really strong. Too strong. I could have sworn there was some kind of rose in here, because the soapiness often results from rose scents mixing with my skin chemistry, but here it will have to remain a mystery, because I will not be wearing this ever again.

    Bliss

Yumyumyumyumyum! Milk chocolate, with a hint of almond and vanilla. It's just delicious, and it makes me want to lick my wrist. I shall be adding it to the big bottle list ASAP.

    Treat #1

I was a little bit scared when people were comparing Treat #1 to Watermelon Jolly Ranchers, because--hmm, fakey, chemically nastiness anyone? But luckily, this Treat smells oh so much better than that! I smell sweet watermelon and sugar balanced out by tart lime. It's delicious, fun, and girly, and definitely makes me think of pink, crystalline candy. It's not something I'd wear every day, but I am very glad to have it.

    Kumari Kandam

This reminds me of both Cloister Graveyard in the Snow and Death of the Grave-Digger, although it does not smell identical to either. It is less minty than CGITS and less earthy than DOTGD, and as others have mentioned, it does have more of a "slushy" feel, rather than icy. I'm not really smelling the florals as much as others have, but maybe that's just because they're blended so well. This is absolutely gorgeous, and I must get a bottle with my next order. Bravo!
