In the imp: I can pick out the rosewood, sandalwood, sage, and orris. I am not particularly fond of sage and orris, so I am hoping they won't be prominent on my skin. Wet: Alas, I get a blast of sage at first, but then the rosewood overtakes it. The lemon peel is starting to peek out, and I'm getting the sandalwood, too. I can also smell the lily. It is quickly becoming a predominantly floral blend. The orris has made an appearance, too. Alas, it seems to be getting stronger over time. Dry: Florals and sage accompanied by pale musk and a faint trace of lemon peel. Verdict: Not for me.

In the imp: The ginger note stands out the most to my nose. Patchouli and I aren't generally friends, but this doesn't seem to be screaming patchouli in the imp. Orange blossom can be iffy on me, but it doesn't seem to be bitter in the imp. Something in this reminds me of Snake Oil. I'm not sure if it is the ginger or the patchouli. There is almost a creaminess to this. I expected it to be sharp, but it's not. Maybe this imp has aged a while. Wet: Mostly ginger on me. The patchouli is present, but it is not a dirty, hippie patchouli, and for that, I am grateful. I can't help wondering if this ginger or patchouli note (or both) is found in Snake Oil. The orange blossom starts to emerge more over time, but it isn't turning really bitter or cough syrup-like and stomping all over the other notes. Drying down: I am getting more of the patchouli now, and I think it is what is reminding me of Snake Oil. (Or maybe it really is both the ginger and the patchouli...). The orange blossom is stronger now, but it still isn't being problematic on my skin. Dry: Reminiscent of Snake Oil. The ginger and the patchouli are the main players on my skin. The orange blossom is light in the background. Verdict: I would never have expected this to work on me from the notes, but it does. I won't be grabbing a bottle of this because it reminds me of Snake Oil, and I prefer Snake Oil (especially with its vanilla note). However, I am glad I gave this one a chance.

The scent of Irish coffee, dusty tomes and polished oakwood halls. No reviews for this one yet!? I suppose I should remedy that! I have tried several of the BPTP candles, and so far, this is the one with the best throw. It's one of those candles that you will get a whiff of as you are walking by, even when it is not lit. When it is lit, the scent has decent throw. I can smell it across the room. I have never tried the perfume oil, so I cannot compare the candle to the perfume. That said, the candle is a very sweet coffee blend. I don't really get much of the 'oakwood halls' from it. I really like the scent, and the boy loves it! He thinks I should buy four of these at a time. I bought one for my mum for her birthday, and she really likes it as well! This is one of the best BPTP candles I have tried thus far. I will definitely be ordering more in the future! *edited over a year later to add* Miskatonic University is my most repurchased candle, because it is the boy's favorite scent, and because of its throw. This candle will scent half of my apartment, so it wins the award for BPTP Candle With Most Throw. Since writing my initial review, I have purchased a bottle of the perfume oil for the boy. It also has huge throw, and though I don't really get much of the oakwood halls when he wears it, I notice the dusty tomes more in the perfume oil than the candle.

I burned this candle a few times before writing this review. Jötunheimr has a very masculine scent. It is predominantly a pine scent accompanied by a harsh snow note, and I swear there is a stone note in this representing the toothy mountain peaks, too. The scent befits the home of the giants (particularly those of the frost variety). At first, I thought it had moderate throw, which is why I decided to burn this one a few times before writing my review. When I burned it last night, I didn't really notice it much when I was sitting in the same room with it. However, when I left the room for a bit, I noticed that I could smell the cold, forest-y scent when I was walking down the hallway. So this one has good throw, but it does not get the award for BPTP candle with the most throw. Miskatonic University still holds that crown.

In the bottle, I mostly smell lilies, followed by the snow note (which is not a sweet snow note) and the sugarcane. In my hair, the lilies still dominate, and while they are strong at first, they quickly calm down. The snow note is second in prominence, and I can't help wondering if there is a bit of pine in the snow note. The sugarcane note really is just a dusting. Much later in the day, I mainly get lilies and the dusting of sugarcane. Most of the snow has melted. The next morning, the lily note remains, but it is rather faint. Verdict: I was really hoping this would be sweeter than it is, because I love sugary florals. I don't dislike it, but I also don't feel like I need a whole bottle of this one.

In the bottle: Frooooooost. If I inhale really deeply, I can smell a bit of vanilla sandalwood in the background, but it is hidden beneath all of the frost. Wet: A minty, bright, ozone-y frost note reigns. The vanilla sandalwood note is very faint and seems to be content with hiding in the background. Dry: The frost note is still the most prominent. The sandalwood has emerged now, along with the vanilla, but the vanilla note is faint and stays very close to the skin. Verdict: I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet. I don't dislike it, but I was really hoping to get more vanilla sandalwood from this. I think I will hang onto this for a while to see if the vanilla comes out more with time. *edit* After two years of aging, the vanilla part of the sandalwood has come out more, but there's still a long winter to get through before it arrives.

This one is very festive! The champagne note stands out the most to my nose (in the bottle and once it has been sprayed). The mint note is definitely candy-like. I like this one, but the scent doesn't seem to stick around for very long. I will keep my bottle, but I don't need a back-up.

I am so glad this became a thing! I swapped my bottle of Rose Red 2005 away because I have a lot of rose scents, and I just wasn't reaching for that one. However, hair gloss is a different story! When I first sprayed this into my damp hair, it was like I had dived into a huge pile of rose petals. It was strong, and I smelled more red rose than greenery. The fresh, sharp quality of the rose calms down over time. Although the scent wasn't nearly as prominent by the end of the day, I was still getting wafts of the scent when I woke up the next morning. I thought that one bottle of this would suffice, but I think I am going to need a back-up bottle. This is going to go nicely with all of my rose scents!

I chose this as my one Weenie candle (instead of going for Pumpkin Spice Everything, which I already have in hair gloss form), and it did not disappoint! This is a sweet pumpkin note (but not a buttery pumpkin) without the spices that usually accompany pumpkin notes. The tobacco complements it really well. The candle has decent throw, too!

In the imp: Very fruity and sweet. Reminds me of blue raspberry blow pops. Wet: I definitely get the plum and black currant, but I'm also getting something that reminds me of bubblegum (or something candy-like). I don't know if it is blue raspberry blow pops or something else, but it definitely reminds me of some type of candy from my childhood. I thought I didn't like plum, but I'm actually enjoying this. Maybe I haven't liked the other perfumes with plum notes that I've tried due to the other notes that have accompanied it. Dry: I get a bit more of the wine and black currant now, but it still reminds me of candy! Verdict: I don't typically like fruity scents, but this one is nice!

2007 version. In the decant: The description matches perfectly. This is a voluptuous red rose. Wet: Yep, a very haughty red rose. It isn't as sharp as Rose Red, which is more of a fresh rose note with more greenery. This is a haughty rose with large, velvety petals. Dry: Same, but softer now. Much later: Ah, I definitely get the 'thorns' now. This was tagged with 'red amber' on the Lab's website (even though the note wasn't listed in the description), and now I know why! Rose and amber! Verdict: I enjoyed this one a lot more than Rose Red. I don't feel the need to hunt down a bottle of it, but I may grab one if it returns in a future Yule update.

I tested this one when its discontinuation was announced in October, and I forgot to post my review here! This one is sweet pea dominant on me, with the pale musk and the sage giving it a clean feel. Sage isn't always kind to me, but it isn't an issue here. This one is nice, but I didn't feel the need to get a bottle of it before it went away (because I already own the Lab's Sweet Pea SN).

In the imp: The powdery orris note is the strongest note in the imp, followed by the blood musk. Wet: The blood musk note is stronger on my skin, but the orris is still pretty strong to my nose. While I do smell the coconut, it isn't as prominent as the other two notes. It's mainly musky orris. Dry: Super musky orris. I am pretty sure the blood musk note has something cherry-like in it, and the orris reminds me of baby powder... so it's like musky baby powder on me. Much later: Now I smell like musky violets. D: Verdict: Definitely not for me.
-
In the imp: The oud is the strongest note, followed by the white sandalwood. Wet: Oud and white sandalwood dominate. I'm also getting the musk. I am not getting much white tea leaf or beeswax, sadly. Dry: It's very much the same, only not as in-your-face now. The oud still dominates, followed by the white sandalwood note. The resins didn't really let the beeswax or tea leaf emerge on my skin. Verdict: This is way too masculine for me. *edit* I think I am getting patchouli from this now. It isn't a listed note, and it may just be this particular type of oud that reminds me of an earthy patchouli, but still... I wasn't expecting it!

2014 version. In the decant: Lots of sugar (brown and caramelized) with some fruitiness. Wet: I get more of the candied fruit on my skin, but the sugar is definitely present. The sugar smells very warm and seems to be getting stronger over time. I mostly get brown and caramelized sugar from this. Dry: Mostly brown sugar (with a little bit of candied fruit). Verdict: I like this one! It's very warm and comforting. I'm not sure I need a full bottle of it, but I may try to track down a partial some time in the future.

In the decant: Lily (or some strong white floral), some kind of citrus fruit (perhaps lime or grapefruit), and perhaps some ozone. The lily stands out the most to my nose. Wet: Lime and lily (or another strong white floral) seem to be the dominant notes at first, but then the ozone note emerges and seems to become more prominent over time. Dry: The white floral is really strong now, and it is starting to give me a headache. I don't really get any citrus from this any more. It's mostly floral with some ozone. Verdict: Not for me. It started giving me a headache and making me feel nauseated. I've tried washing it off twice, and it won't seem to budge.

I am testing this one on my skin (as opposed to using it in the bath). In the decant: Spicy pumpkin with some creaminess from the cream cheese note. There is a hint of graham cracker crust. Wet: The spicy pumpkin note dominates. The cheesecake aspect seems to be confined to the background. The brown sugar starts to come out more the longer this sits on my skin, but the spiced pumpkin still reigns. Dry: The spices have calmed down significantly, and the cheesecake has emerged a lot more, so it is creamier now. I'm also getting more of the graham cracker and brown sugar during this phase. Verdict: I like this, and I will definitely keep my decant. However, I don't feel the urge to spring for a bottle right now (because I already ordered the other three Weenie bath oils, and I have a feeling that the Trading Post's Yules will be my doom). If this bath oil happens to make its way onto Etsy some time in the future, and I happen to have the funds, I may get a bottle of this one then.

Clove and lemon. The clove is pretty strong on my skin, and the lemon note is like an actual lemon (with peel included) instead of lemongrass or lemon verbana. I really like this, and I plan on getting a bottle once I use up my imp.

Black Clove, Tobacco Flower and Grave Soil Hair Gloss
doomsday_disco replied to Lycanthrope's topic in Hair
In the decant: Mostly clove with some dirt. In my hair: The clove dominates. I thought that the dirt would be pretty strong (and that's why I went for a decant instead of a bottle). While it is certainly present, it's actually rather soft. The tobacco flower note seems to emerge more over time. The scent was still in my hair when I woke up this morning, and when I took a shower, I was immersed in a cloud of clove/tobacco/soil awesomeness. Verdict: I LOVE THIS. I will definitely be ordering a bottle before it goes away. -
In the decant: More gingerbread than Zombi. It's gingerbread with a bit of dirt. Wet: The gingerbread dominates. It is really strong, and there is only a hint of the Zombi part of the scent. Dry: Still mostly gingerbread spices on me, with just a hint of Zombi to suggest that there is something not quite right about the gingerbread. Verdict: I am glad that I was able to try this one! I like it, but I don't feel the need to try and hunt down a bottle at this time. ETA: I did end up hunting down a bottle of this after all. I regret nothing.

In the bottle: Mainly sweet pumpkin and spices. The pumpkin cream note reminds me of the pumpkin in Alice in the Pumpkin Patch. Wet: Pumpkin with a lot of ginger milk and cardamom. I really hope this one doesn't end up burning my skin like Autumn Cider did! The spices seem to be getting stronger as this sits on my skin. The black tea note is present, but it is lingering in the background. Dry: Okay, I'm getting a lot of the black tea note now. It is on the verge of turning into licorice but hasn't actually done so yet. The spices are still present, but they have calmed down significantly, and the pumpkin note is more like the pumpkin cream in the description (as opposed to just full-on pumpkin). The tea isn't on the verge of turning into licorice now. It definitely reads as black tea to my nose. Verdict: I was hoping this would be like a pumpkin chai latte. It's not, but it's still nice. It is creamy and comforting, and I'm glad that I have a bottle. *edit* I ended up swapping this one. I am not sure if it's me amping the ginger milk or cardamom or what, but this would eventually end up being curry-like on me, sadly.

In the bottle: Orange and tobacco. Wet: The orange dominates, followed by the tobacco. The orange is a realistic orange and the note seems to include the peel. I'm not getting much hay at this point, and I consider that to be a good thing. Dry: This stays really close to the skin now. The orange is still there, but it isn't as prominent as it was before. The hay note has emerged, lending a bit of warmth and sweetness to the scent. I was worried about the hay note, but it really works here! It's mainly tobacco and hay now. Verdict: Like, but not love. I will be holding onto my bottle, though.

2014 version. In the bottle: This isn't like cider at all. It's like a spiced fruit punch. The apple note in this reminds me of the Trading Post's Harvest Festival atmosphere spray (which also smelled like punch). The orange note is quite prominent. Wet: Yep, spicy fruit punch. The apple note is quite prominent at first, but the spices become stronger, along with the orange note. The spices are starting to burn my skin. There is a huge red circle on my skin (although this was lightly applied). I get more orange and spices than apple now, but the apple note is still present. Dry: Very spicy fruit punch. Verdict: I was hoping that this one would work for me, but alas, my skin is too sensitive to handle the spices in this one. I will either swap my bottle or give it to a family member.

In the bottle: The notes that are standing out to my nose are the patchouli, sandalwood, and tobacco notes. The patchouli note is a deep, 'chewy' patch (for lack of a better term) that doesn't smell hippie-like at all. The ambergris is present but not as prominent as it was yesterday (when it arrived – I decided to let it sit for a day before testing it since it is so cold outside). The vanilla cream note is lingering in the background, adding a bit of sweetness to the blend. Wet: The sandalwood is the dominant note at first, followed by the patchouli and tobacco. I am getting the ambergris and benzoin notes as well. After a few minutes, the vanilla cream note makes an appearance. The ambergris note starts to become more prominent over time, and I think I may be smelling the immortelle note as well, but I'm not familiar with that note, so I can't be sure. Dry: What I believe to be the immortelle note (I'm getting a floral note) mixed with the ambergris, the smokiness of the tobacco, and just a hint of vanilla. *edit* Several hours later, the vanilla comes out more, and the combination of vanilla, immortelle, and ambergris is somewhat reminiscent of Lyonesse (which has a different vanilla and floral note). Verdict: I waffled on this one at first because I was worried about the patchouli, but couldn't resist the vanilla, benzoin, tobacco, and artwork. I am glad that I took a chance on this one because the patchouli note wasn't problematic at all. I am going to hold onto my bottle. I can't wait to see how it ages!

No, not all of the old scents can be found in the "In Memoriam" section of the website. The website is fairly new (it went live last November), so there are many scents from previous updates that cannot be found in the "In Memoriam" section of the website. However, there is a section for discontinued scents in the reviews section of this forum, and you can also search for old limited edition scents in the reviews section of this forum as well. The Lilith scents that are currently available for purchase on the website will definitely be moved to the "In Memoriam" section when they are no longer available. Indeed, we cannot always depend on a limited edition scent being restocked. Although scents are listed as available until a certain date, sometimes there is a component issue, and the Lab isn't able to make any more of the scent. This happened with a few of this year's Lupercalia scents.
