    Materialisation

My skin chemistry (or maybe just my nose) is way different on this one. I actually get a subtle tobacco note somehow when this is first applied. Some more of the floral and tropical notes come out a it dries but this never reads strongly tropical on me like other scents have done. It feels almost like a vintage study room transported into a coconut grove. Surprisingly the honeysuckle doesn't amp much on me.

    Schönperchten

In the beginning the mint and lavender take turns wafting up, but eventually they start to blend - the amber and bourbon round things out and make them a bit softer. I don't get the powdery note some others have which is nice because I do sometimes have that happen with ambers. A fairly unique scent that I'm not sure how to categorize, but pleasant.

    Goblin Stampede

This is yummy! I somehow end up with a slighty fruity note in this? The cardamon and coffee are very strong at first but then die down some and some of the other spices come out to play. This turns into a very warm and pleasant scent. Perfect for these colder months. It does fade but had decent wear length on me.

    Caressing the Wild Rabbit

First whiff definitely made me think of White Rabbit from the Mad Tea Party collection only this is less creamy. I'm actually surprised by how 'green' this scent is for me. Slightly soapy on my skin but I can tell this would be amazing on others. Most a green but somewhat soft floral on me.
  5. It's been a while since I did reviews and I'm a little worried that my sniffer is broken but here goes! Straight on, before putting my nose close to it, I get a very strong scent of bubblegum? Up close the bubblegum fades a bit and I get a floral pine. The pine and bubblegum do fade with time and it becomes more and more of a sweet floral.

    Cat Chasing Butterflies

First sniff was a bit acrid/bitter but faded quickly. What I assume is the peach blossom, smells similar to neroli to me. I get whiffs of the almond but not as strong as I hoped. and I don't find this milk at all which I was hoping for. Near the end it gets a bit powdery. Very interesting scent and not at all like I was expecting. I would recommend trying it though especially to neroli fans.

    Kamisuki Hair Gloss

Definitely more than a drop of Strawberry. I don't really get the cherry blossom but the white tea does tamper the strawberry some - keeping it extra light and airy. It's a fairly youthful summery scent.

    Braving the Ice

There's definitely yummy buttery cookie in this....but there's also a note that just kind of keeps 'hovering' over the cookie smells and I can't place it (even when looking at the notes). It's not bad but I can't see myself reaching for this even with the yummy cookie note.

Kitten with Shamisen Daydreams of a Phallus Palanquin

First on, this is very distinct pear and rice milk notes. I couldn't really smell the musk and the other two weren't really blending although they were both lovely single notes. However, after about 5-10 minutes this morphed. This is a really light and beautiful scent. Really ethereal without being too flightly if that makes sense. The pear gives it a tinkling shining quality but the soft milk really ground it - makes it slightly more of being a 'skin scent'. The white musk came out as well and is a good bridge between the other two notes. This is just really really pretty and it doesn't fade quickly like some of the lighter scents often do on me. Definitely a keeper for me although I think it will just be for special occasions.
  10. I've sadly been away from BPAL for a while but I finally got a new job (with a raise) and I've really missed all the excitement that goes on here. I know that BPAL thrives a lot off of limited editions but I'd really like to build up my 'base' of scents that theoretically will be replaceable when I use them up. So what GC scents in the past 1-2 years have you fallen for? And why? (Thank you!)

    Vasakasajja

Dressed seductively and sumptuously, reclining in a bed strewn with glorious, sensual blooms, she awaits the arrival of her lover. Her breath is quick with anticipation, and her cheeks are flushed with passion: skin musk, wild orchid, champaca flower, amaranth, tonka bean, and French vanilla. Oh how I hate being first! First of all, I have to say that I don't know what half the notes smell like so I'm just going to go off my own personal description... This is a sweet scent. The vanilla is fairly strong on me and I definitely can pick out the skin musk in the back. There's a hint of ripe fruit just ready to be bitten into, combined with a floral...not a white floral but still pretty light. There's a youthful element to the scent, this is a girl waiting for her first love to come along. Not fully experienced but not naive either. A sensual youthful scent, sweet but musky. I think I may be falling in love with it!...second bottle?

Unveil The Grace In Thine Eyes

Warm. This is definitely a warm scent. A bit creamy, even a hint of wood? A dash of cologne. Interesting. Evocative but hard for me to place.

    Serotine Bat

For me it's definitely heavy on the bourbon vanilla. I'm not great at picking out the notes beyond that. At moments it feels almost burnt (but not in a bad way) and otherwise just very foodie. It's a tad heavier than I expected.

    Jingu

Sakura, white orchid, mandarin, bamboo, red sandalwood, plum blossom, and lilac. This is really really pretty. There's nothing I can say I dislike about it, but I can tell that it's not one I'll reach for so I'm going to pass it on. It's fairly close to the skin, and so lovely. Light florals, and and almost watery feel. I almost feel like I'm floating down a river on my back with the trees around me shedding their blossoms...very girly, and very pretty.

    Vixen

This is definitely a warm sexy scent. There's definitely patchouli in the forefront, but the bakcground is orange blossom and what feels like vanilla. I personally don't really enjoy wearing patchouli, but of all the scents containing it, this is one of the ones I like the best. There's definitely a deceptively innocent edge to this but that coquette has a much darker side - truly perfect for itself namesake, a vixen.

    Quaeris Quot Mihi Basiationes

This actually felt a bit citrus-y at first, but softened a bit. Definitely a nice lush honey. Very bright, very lovely. Not sure I'd get through a bottle, but enjoying this decant.

    A Thought from Propertius

This was not at all what I expected. As someone mentioned earlier, my brain also seems to be reading the cayenne as cinnamon. It's kind of one note and I don't really get any honey or apricot.

    Delight and Consternation

I LOVE this scent. It's quite a morpher on me but I enjoy all it's stages. It's start of really foody-cocoa-custard on me, and it even reminded me of my beloved orange 13. Later it turns into a really seductive skin musk. Beautiful!

    A Sudden Invitation

I'm not actually entirely sure why I added this to my decant list...it's very not my style, lol. I think I thought that since it was last, the wood would be the subtlest note. I'm really not a fan of wearing wood notes, and of course this is 98% agarwood on me. I get NO mint or plum. I amp wood like crazy so it's not terribly surprising. However it does make a lovely incense-wood scent if that's what you're into. It also somehow manages to pull off that combo without feeling musty which a lot of them do to my nose.

    The Sound of Insects

This is such an interesting scent. The most predominant note on me is definitely the lime. There is a brief moment of creaminess too that sort of reminded me of my beloved Goldenrod Crab Spider but it faded quickly leaving a drier and slightly more acidic feel. It's interesting and I like it. I'm enjoying these slightly more tropical scents that have started to peak out lately.

    Solar Phoenix

This is not at all what I was imagining - but I really like it! It's a lot lighter than expected, and therefore fades relatively quickly, but it's gorgeous until it's gone. It's definitely chamomile, and I think it's a sort of tea element that makes it feel like. There's definitely some light heliotrope in this (a note I LOVE!). I get some of the bay laurel. I oddly don't get the pineapple even though it seems most people do. It's a light but sunny scent.

    Lunar Phoenix

I can't pick out any individual notes in this. In the far background is a really lovely sort of aquatic floral. Really pleasant. But the foreground is...well, not pleasant. A little herbal, a little bitter. I'm not really sure what's going on and it's not the worst thing I've ever put on but I can't say I'm enjoying it.

    Leather Phoenix

I got a little sniffie of this as a surprise in a recent package! I'm not a leather girl so I went in purely for the experience, not because I thought it would work on me. At first it's all leather SN on me. I tend to amp leather like crazy. But it does calm down a bit and begin to blend. Honestly this smells a bit tobacco-musty. Maybe something Sherlock's room would smell like. Leather couch, pipe tobacco, some antique dust...it's oddly comforting even if it's not a scent I would ever go for myself.

    Midwinter's Eve Candle

This is my first candle as well! A lovely (requested) gift from my mother! It's so lovely. Definitely the labs plum note which I adore. I get whiffs every now and then of something warm/creamy but that just might be from the soy lol. Some light floral but mostly bright juicy plum!

    Juke Joint

I got a sniffie of this and my nose is picking up something completely different. It smells like wood to me, moist wood? Wormwood? Some booze in there but not sugar or mint. Bizarre.
