    Aries 2007

Guh! This smells not good straight from the bottle. Kind of like a hot tire. I dab some on, and will not sniff it again till it dries! Later, it is peppery and dry. Even later, the dragon's blood appears. Oh, this was worth the wait! Spicy dragon's blood! Reminds me of Dragon's Milk. There is still a little weirdness going on, though. Less tire and more plastic, but I only get little whiffs of it. What is that?

    Pink Moon 2007

Oh, I love carnation. I have such high hopes for you, Pink Moon! Aaand, I love you. So soft and sweet and pretty and perfect. You make me feel young and girly.

    The Ides of March 2005

2007 version I've been wanting to try this since it was first released. I'm happy I get to try this even if it's not the first version. Wet - green and bitter, almost medicinal. Sharp and astringent, but not unpleasant. This isn't perfumey, but I would wear it when I want something fresh and clean.

    New Orleans

Yup, this is straight-up honeysuckle on me. It's very lovely, but I'm not a huge fan of straight florals. I'll keep the imp though, if only because I'm going to NOLA later this year. I'll have to wear it at least once while I'm there!

I'm not surprised this reminds some people of a department store perfume - it smells very commercial. Not in a bad way at all, just that I can see it appealing to many people. This is very green and fresh. Herbal and fruity. Bright and clean. Slightly aquatic (or is it salty?) This would be great on a hot summer night!

    Bien Loin D'Ici

I usually love the red musk blends, and this is no exception, although it was touch-and-go in the beginning. I have been wearing BPAL long enough to know not to judge a scent in the first few minutes. I also love honey, but have burned by it turning sour on me, but not all the time. Wet, this is worrisome, a little too sharp. A little to musky. Dry, this is spicy and sexy. I detect a note that I can't identify that makes this unlike any of the other red musk blends I've tried. Dunno what it is - slightly powdery and sweet, and a little perfumy. I like this more and more the longer it stays on my skin.

    Croquet

This is a near perfect scent. Just the right blend of fruity and floral, and clean enough to border on soapy. It starts out citrusy - I can pick out the grapefruit distinctly. As it dries the musks mellow it out and it turns a little herbal (clean). This actually reminds me of summer more than spring, I'm not sure why. It's gorgeous and uplifting. Love it!

    The Dodo

Yeah, when this is wet, it's almost offensive. A very strong cinnamony plastic. But wait! If you wait a little bit the plastic goes away, and turns a little more earthy and incensy. I never get any sugar or mango - this is not a sweet or fruity blend AT ALL. It's spicy and warm with just a hint of musk. Not a fave, but I'll pull it out every now and again.

    Queen Alice

Yum! This is nothing like Alice. This starts out super sweet, like Sugar Skull, with a touch of wine. I really like this stage, but it only lasts for a few minutes. After this dries a bit I definitely get clove. It becomes the most lovely creamy slightly floral clove. I love.

    Oborot

I did NOT like this at first. Wet, this is painfully piercing and florally medicinal. Gah! I'm glad I didn't wash it off. After it dries, the salty woods prevail! It's bitter and green, but rounder and earthy. I can't pick out individual notes, but then I'm not really good at that anyway. This is more masculine than many, but still wearable. It's fading fast. Which is too bad because I like it more and more the longer it's on my skin. I can smell the sap now, and it's a little powdery but not at all in a bad way. It just gets softer. I like this much more than I thought I would!

    Crow Moon

Huh. This starts out very grassy and summery, then quickly changes to a wintery scent. Icy, minty and a little coconut? And buttery? What the heck are the notes again? A little while later this is pretty much butter mints with the barest touch of floral. It's light and quite lovely. Cool and pretty.

    Fire Pig

Wow! This is yelling at me. Very strongly FRUITY and CLEAN. Strong and sharp - this is one of the only BPALs to actually make me sneeze! That bamboo note is pretty powerful in the beginning. As it dries it softens a tiny bit, but remains tart and juicy. It's not soapy, but I would love soap like this - refreshing and clean. It's also on the more commercial/mainstream side of Beth's creations. This will be loved by many!

    Mr. Nancy

From the beginning, Mr Nancy smells exactly like the description: sugar, rum, tobacco and lime. I can distinctly pick out each note. As it dries it does turn a little maple syrupy. This is one of those warm and comforting scents that borders on the masculine side. I really like it.

    Boomslang

Boomslang is definitely the most Snake Oily of the entire Pit. The cocoa bomb hits you first, and it's rich and warm and very brown. This phase doesn't last very long, though. After only a few minutes, this is straight-up Snake Oil. I actually like it less than good ol' SO - it's somehow lacking something (how descriptive). Once the cocoa is gone, it really loses it's roundness and richness. Bummer.
