    September Midnight

I hated this at first. I was expecting more pomegranate. After my initial try I flung it into the swap pile. Last night I got it out again thinking I didn't really give this scent a fair try. I'm not sure a week made that much difference or if my nose was broken when I first tried this. But crap I really love this now. I am amping the amber and thankfully it did not turn into powder on me. The pomegranate is there only not very strong and the chypre is holding everything together and giving this an earthy balance and keeping the whole thing from being too sweet. I really can only get ONE weenie this year. Unfortunately my list of only 4 possibilities have grown now to five.

A World Where There Are Octobers

This is for sure dry crunchy yellow leaves. Only it is very strong to my nose. There is something medicinal lurking in the back ground that is putting me off this scent. No matter how much I want to love this...I just can't. That medicinal smell is ruining this for me.

    Dark Pumpkin Mead

DARK PUMPKIN MEAD Thick, heady pumpkin mead sweetened with clover honey and a hint of maple. This is really amazing smelling. I usually hate maple. Like loath it to the extreme. It only ever reminds me of pancakes and I really hate pancakes. Dark Pumpkin Mead however does not smell like maple at all to me. Actually I smell Pumpkin (buttery sweet pumpkin), vanilla, honey, a slight barely there booze note and cinnamon and maybe a bit of clove. Yay this is a keeper. I am getting the big bottle. This smells so.....fall

    Ooky

OOKY 2013's Ridiculous Halloweenie! Less spooky than Spooky, and nowhere near as creepy as Creepy, this is the scent of lightly spiced pumpkin candies, decorated with thick marzipan, sweetened with buttercream, an decorated with a touch of lemon zest. At first I got dreamy butter cream. It smelled so realistic that it seriously made me want cupcakes. mmmmmmmm But then after about an hour all I was left with was spices. No butter cream. Mainly I was picking up cinnamon. It's not that I hate cinnamon because I don't, it's just I wanted the butter cream to stick around longer. Sorry little ooky but I have to swap you out.

    Werepuppy

WEREPUPPY My little girl has caught her fair share of sniffles and sneezes in the past sixteen months, and some time ago it was brought to my attention that these illnesses seem to, without fail, occur right around the full moon. Coincidence? A fuzzy brown honey-dusted musk covering freshly-washed baby skin and a howl of milk breath. In the background, there's the barest hint of upturned soil and dew-covered squished stems from a trampled flowerbed. I have wanted to try this FOREVER! So I finally purchased a bottle from the forum unsniffed and just hoped for the best. I love it when a plan works out. This is just an adorable scent. I do smell the milk and the baby skin. I can even sort of pick up on the flower bed (sort of, it's not strong at all and comes and goes) This reminds me very much of some Burt Bees bath soak I used to have (as other posters have mentioned). It's a very comforting scent for sure. It lasts a reasonable amount of time and the art work on the bottle is very cute. It does sort of remind me of a puppy but only in the best possible way. My pup (Well she isn't a baby anymore but still) has a spot on the top of her head. It's super soft and silky and she sort of smells like Werepuppy there. She is a pitbull and doesn't have much hair and for the most part smells more of musk than...dog. As soon as I realized that her spot on her head (where I give her kisses) smelled like this all I could say was ...awwwwww When my husband asked what that smell was I was wearing I told him the name. He was even like...awwww. I also noticed I had to say Werepuppy in a sort of baby voice. Everything thing about this scent is adorable.

    Regina Erebi

The Queen of Hell: pomegranate, spear mint, black mulberry, and myrrh. Sniffie from a forum purchase, but with enough oil to still test on my skin. mmmmmmm...this smells lovely. Mainly I get Pomegranate and Mulberry and Myrrh. I have not picked up on much mint. There is also something like black pepper lurking around the edges of this scent. It reminds me very much of B&BW or Brambleberry's Midnight Pomegranate. Only BPAL version is so much more complex and longer lasting. Very pretty and very dark. Too bad this is a LE..I would not mind getting my hands on a big bottle.

    The Hell-Gate Of Ireland

Smoldering brimstone, bitter labdanum, clove, black musk, and copper-colored feathers. Clove and smoke. Wonderful dark smoke. Wet it is mainly clove and musky smokiness that I love Dry: there is a metallic note here........and a rusty metallic note as well. This is a strange little scent, but I love it. I won’t be in the mood for it as often as I am my other scents but I am considering a big bottle.

    Samhainophobia

Big bottle for sure. This has made me rethink my loathing of vetiver. Recently some of my new favorites have had this note in them. I guess when vetiver is bad it is very bad and when it's good it's earthy beautiful smoke-ish green. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I also think I have found a scent that both MR. and I can share. He has his and I have mine but none of them are good on both of us. Samhainophobia is great on us both. On him it takes on a much darker quality with the patchouli coming up front and center and on me I pick up on honey and lots of clove.

    The Chicken-Legged Hut

Sadly this does not work on my skin chemistry. I get lots of dry hay and some kitchen spices. It almost smells a bit like a chicken or something has been roasted in the background. It's the smell that is left over after the spices and things have been cooked into the meat. I am also getting a sort of floral..ish..something. Wait lol I went and read some reviews to see if anyone else was picking up on the floral and what that could possibly be. A few people said it sort of smelled like a freshly cleaned kitchen. YUP that's it. Clean kitchen, like dishwashing liquid. It's just really not working for me. It doesn't stink. It doesn't smell terrible or headache inducing...it's just nothing at all that I would ever wear.

    Nevar

Decant from the wonderful Mellifluous Someone above me said that Nevar reminds them of light purple smoke, someone else said it reminds them of purple incense. I agree with both statements. The plum isn’t showing itself enough for my taste. I'm not real sure what opium would smell like but I am getting the smoke from the incense and violet. Vetiver is a death note for me usually, and thankfully it is behaving itself in this scent. Usually Violet hates me, but it is very nice in this blend. It also lasts a while on my skin. I could still smell it this morning, only faintly.

    Mania

This is a very grown up strawberry smell. To me I am not picking up any candy resemblances and if I am...It’s very very little. At first Mania reminded me a bit of cough syrup mixed with Smut. On the dry down it changed for the better from cough syrup to a strawberry musky deep scent. It's pleasant and not too over powering. I'm not picking up any grapefruit, maybe I am...and this is why the strawberry isn't registering as candy strawberry as most strawberry tends to smell to me. ?? Mania would be perfect for summer. Staying power was average but the throw was very good. On my list of maybe's for a big bottle

    Gingerbread Poppet

Warm, cozy gingerbread spiced with nutmeg, clove and cinnamon. 2010 version I never really get to use the word poppet enough. I love that word. My Great Aunt used to call us kids poppet or moppets. Such a silly word. Poppet Gingerbread poppet smells like gingerbread. As another reviewer said, I can also smell icing as well. On my skin the cinnamon comes out right to the front. For awhile cinnamon is all my nose can pick up. After a bit it goes back to sweet warm Christmas gingerbread. Great...now I want gingerbread. I really need to stop loving foodie scents because they make me want to eat refined sugar and flour. This lasts about 7 hours on me which is pretty great as far as I am concerned. It has really far reaching throw too. When the weather gets colder this will probably be my go to scent. I also think I will try this in my oil burner as well.

    Boo

Boo 2009 Now this is good! I am picking up on the billows of spun sugar. Wet it smells like sugar and on my skin it smells like warm sugar. Not 'cooked" like caramel...this has a warm slightly brown quality to it. It's very yummy only I can't put my finger on what treat this would smell like. I am getting the cream. No white cotton but that's okay with me! Boo is really great. Throw like crazy and good staying power. I put this on a few hours before bed last night. I woke up smelling it. It wasn't on my skin any longer but my pillow smelled like it. There is a drawback to wearing this however. Last night when I put it on all I could think about was eating sugar cookies. If there was anything sweet in the house, I would have caved in and ate it, diet be damned. Someone suggested to me that Boo would be very marshmallow smelling. I can see that sort of. To me it's more of a melty marshmallow smell if anything, but yet that’s almost grasping because marshmallow doesn't come to my mind really when I smell Boo. The search for marshmallow continues. As for my bottle of Boo 2009, it’s a keeper. No need for a back up as I will only be wearing this every once in a blue moon, but I like this enough to keep my bottle.

The First of the Three Spirits

This reminds me very much of Mouses Long and Sad Tale. I know sweat pea is not listed in the notes but I think I am picking it up. On my skin I get Amber and Vanilla mainly with a floral note circling the scent, and a very sweet pea note too. I'm not picking up much musk. It's there, only it's not hording the spotlight. mmmmmmmm...I really do like this. After a few hours the vanilla and amber are still going strong. The throw is okay...not terribly strong and this lasts about 5 hours on my skin. This is a pretty enough scent to wear any time of year but I think it would be perfect for summer. While it is similar to Mouses Long and Sad Tale, I prefer this one to it. This is more complex and deep. Its really very very pretty and girlie. It's a keeper and I think I need to find a back up bottle. http://www.bpal.org/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/wub2.gif

    Temple Viper

Wonderful aged Snake oil with hints if grape kool aide, frankincense and resins. I know that sounds strange but this works. It's not my favorite. I think so far I just prefer my snake oil as is without anything added to it, but this is really nice. No need for a big bottle for me, but I will get lots of wears out of this decant.

    Samhain

Samhain 2009 The art on the bottle is very adorable. 2 circa 1890? Ladies decked out in some sort of bat costumes? (maybe it’s cockroach costumes…or aliens…they could be aliens) and a pervy guy looking at them. He may not be a perv...but he gives off the creeper vibe. Maybe it's the moustache. This is a very wonderful scent. At first it's all apple cider. After a bit on my skin fir needles and clove come out very strong. I'm not picking out much pumpkin. I was hoping for more pumpkin. I can also get whiffs of smoke and leaves. ohhh when the leaves show up it's just beautiful. I am getting a bit of beeswax and honey too. I'm also getting a slight boozy note too. Hmmm..yes..this reminds me of a cool fall night in the country. Not so much Halloween but fall in general. It's cold enough for farmers to start burning their brush piles and everybody has apple somethings baking in the ovens. wow. This is really taking me places. I am so glad this isn't foodie. I was scared it would be. It has pretty good staying power. It’s been on about 5 hours and still going strong. It has very good throw, a few people have already commented on it. I hope 2013 smells like this.. WIN!

    No. 93 Engine

This should have been a shoe in. We should have been blown away by this. Motors and gears, beeswax, metal, steam, resins!! This should have been his perfect scent. And the funny thing is that it is his perfect scent only it smells too much like him... I know I won't be able to articulate this to well. Due to my husband’s job and his natural skin chemistry... this smells almost exactly the way he smells normally. Only No. 93 has more of a motor oil smell that comes off as chemical. His skin just ate this one right up I think I will age the imp and break it out in about 6 months and see if it helps. On me..it smelled too masculine for me to ever pull it off.

    Golden Priapus

Oh my my my I have a huge thing for vanilla. I wear vanilla, my house smells like vanilla, I even found some vanilla smelling laundry detergent and even though it does a terrible job I am still using it because it's vanilla. I have a slight obsession with vanilla yall. Got this imp for husband to see if we may have found his guy vanilla. He put it on...then everything turned a bit foggy...then we wound up in bed... It's that good people! It lasted a good deal on him and this has excellent throw. And it makes you want to have sex. In the afternoon. So get a bottle and have more sex. okay okay...we didn't immediately go to bed. But it really does smell that good on him. We need lots more of this. Soooo does this make me a vanilla slut or something? Oh yeah…forgot to mention that we could smell the other notes yaddayadda…rosewood, pine, amber VANILLA!! Basically it’s a juniper/pine vanilla. Very man vanilla. Very very man vanilla.

    The Emathides

Gleaming eyes, screeching voices, glistening wings: black amber, black orchid, black currant, olive blossom, wood violet, lavender, blue musk, rose attar, and cedar. Decant imp Wet: very sweet. It's almost like there is a sugar note lurking in the back of this. Lots of floral and no cedar yet. On my skin: Hello Amber. Amber and I get along really well so I guess that is why it showed up so quickly. That sugar note is back too and very strong. I am picking up on lavender as well as other floral notes. This is not so bad. Cedar finally made her appearance and while usually I hate cedar she is playing very well in this scent. She gives a sort of earthy vibe to this that levels all the sweetness out. OMG I LOVE THIS!!! A few hours in: This has really awesome staying power and I have already gotten two compliments. Of course this has to be crazy limited edition and probably no real hope of me scoring a bottle. Why do we always want what we can't have? I will cling to this imp like a zombie survivor clings to a baseball bat. Maybe one day this little gem will come back. This is seriously one hell of a scent. I am totally in love with it. Oh also over the course of several hours this scent just gets stronger on me. It's so strong and pretty. I wonder is this is because this is a really aged imp? I want a big bottle

    Dark Delicacies

I have no idea how old this decant is Wet: Well...nothing is jumping out at me. I am getting a darker floral smell but that is about it at this stage. Dry on my skin: More floral, a bit of a sweet coconut meat smell and some earthy resins I guess that's the patchouli. I’m not getting any tonka and that's making me sad. This blend does need a creamy thing to make it more me friendly. It's okay. It's not anything I would want a big bottle of. It could have been so much more but sadly my decant left a lot to be desired. It was just underwhelming and not something I would wear, I do need to restate that my decant could be a million years old for all I know. So maybe the aging process wasn't a friend to this little decant? We will never know. Sadly to the swap pile this little imp must go.

    Smut

Smut is amazing I have no idea what year this decant I just got is from but WOW! This smells like honey on me. Well honey and wine. It's a deep golden honey just dripping out of the hive, Or the smell of honeycomb, the kind you eat wax and all. It's yummy. To me this reminds me a lot of O. It's very sweet and boozy but there is also musk there holding all of this together and keeping it from being too sweet. Where O tends to be a bit too sweet, Smut is just right. Also, sometimes O can turn into powder on me especially on really humid days. Smut doesn't do that (probably because no amber is listed in the notes ) The Wine/grape thing is lovely. It's not all grape all the time like some wine scents on me. This is blended really well. Ohhhh I love it so much! I prefer Smut to O and I hope we get another chance to buy this at Lupercalia because I need lots and lots of bottles. This had hubby's attention for sure. He kept grabbing my wrist and smelling it on the way home. Actually for most of the ride he just had my wrist permanently placed under his nose. Yeah we need lots of bottles. I will treasure my little imp until I can score some big bottles.

    Dia de los Muertos

Decant imp from off site. I have no idea what year this is from. I got a "lot" of LE imps Wet: The liquid is very yellow. Ohhhh I love this!! It smells floral but not a traditional floral. This is very sweet. It almost seems like I am picking up grape. I smell maybe a foodie hint laying in the back ground. I am also picking out some resins and some smoke. Dry: It is sort of turning into a lilac smell on me. So now I have a grape-ish, lilac-ish, bakery thing going on. It's odd to say the least. I am picking up on chocolate too. What a unique little scent. It is also sort of giving me a headache. It's very strong and the staying power is pretty good with excellent throw. Only thing is my husband hates it. He says that it smells just like a cleaned truck stop bathroom. He is right..I can sort of see that. I don't guess a big bottle is in my future. Besides the headache and the truck stop bathroom similarity...this was pretty. I mean yeah I can see the truck stop thing but Dia de los Muertos is so much prettier than that. It really is. Swap pile

    Boomslang

I snagged a decanted imp Wet: This is snake oil. Only more dark and heavy. On my skin: The labs chocolate note usually likes me. This does not I don't think. This note smells like sour saliva. Behind the chocolate messiness is a soft creamy....something. It's not the vanilla from snake oil. It's something all of it's own. It's sort of circling the scent and rounding it out. Ohhhhh but that chocolate note is awful on me. Oh good grief I hope it calms down. Snake oil is still there it's very strong like snake oil always is. A few hours later... This is not so bad. The chocolate went powdery and that was a major improvement. Now Boomslang smells more like a lovely aged snake oil. Nice throw and decent staying power. I'm glad I got the chance to try it. I'm not sure I would ever need a full bottle but I do like my imp decant. Once the chocolate calms her ass down, this is really very nice.

    Tamora

Amber, heliotrope, golden sandalwood, peach blossom and vanilla bean Frimp from the lab: Someone said this reminded them of sweet pipe tobacco and I agree. Wet: Peach but not your normal peach. It does not smell of fresh peaches. Maybe cooked peaches sort of like peach cobbler (I suspect the “cobbler” I am smelling is the heliotrope). I was hoping for ripe sweet peach. Of course this is PEACH BLOSSOM not PEACHES…sooo.. The vanilla is here as is the sandalwood. I think I am picking up on the amber only slightly. After dry down it’s very nice. All the scents are well blended and it’s getting harder and harder to pick out singular notes (Other than Vanilla because I amp it). I am also picking up on a floral-ish, resin-sih smell. It does smell a bit like tobacco. It’s pretty and very easy to wear. It’s not too strong so this would be a good work scent and I can see myself wearing this in the summer. The staying power was not too good. It only lasted a few hours on me tops. The throw on me was pretty low. Peach is one of my favorite smells. I am torn about getting a bottle. A part of me says “get it you know you would wear it” and the other part is telling me to hold off for a true PEACH smell. I don’t know what I will do. I do know Tamora is nice. It’s bottle worthy if you looking for a peach-ish blend and don’t mind the lack of real peach smell. I may get a bottle of this with my summer order. I would wear this…and that’s what it’s about... right.

    BPAL Scents with Lemon notes

Haunted smelled like lemonish powder to me. Others have said they thought of lemon cheesecake. And it's GC so you can get it at anytime.
