    Xiuhtecuhtli

In the imp: This honestly just smells like something I would spray on my stove to get rid of kitchen grease and 99% of household germs. A tropicalish floral, very harsh smelling. Wet: The resins are starting to come out a bit, but yeah, still mostly an astringent floral. Dry: Tropical flowers, maybe a bit of incense and orange, but overall a pretty nasty and artificial smelling scent tbh

    Womb Furie

(I'm reviewing the 2012 version.) In the imp: Snake oil with a strong honey note, shockingly. Wet: Pretty much just like Snake Oil - which is fine, as I love Snake Oil. Dry: Maybe a bit like Snake Oil but with a slightly sweeter, floral edge? Not hugely different, but lovely all the same.

    The Witch's Repast

In the imp: Berries (that'll be the kvass, I take it)/wine with yeasty bread. Made me awfully peckish. Wet: This really does smell just like crusty bread and fruity booze. Intensely foody. Dry: A mix of berries, wine, and honey. Not bad, but I was hoping for more bread and meat in the dry stages.

    Wings of Azrael

In the imp: Ooh, violet! Very fresh and pretty. Wet: The cypress and juniper are coming out. I also get something a bit spicy that reminds me of bay - I guess that must be the cajeput? Dry: I actually really like this one. It's an interesting mic of sweetness (the myrrh), freshness (the florals), sharpness (the juniper and cyress) and spice (cajeput). I'll be keeping my imp about.

    Wicked

A paean to all the Wicked Queens, Evil Stepmothers, and other misunderstood villainesses throughout history and lore. Lends an aura of majesty, refinement, strength, and a deep, brooding malice. A sophisticated, womanly scent: rich myrrh and jasmine draped in the subtlest rose. In the imp: Lovely myrrh with a floral edge. Wet: Jasmine and myrrh. Not sure how well they go together, tbh - it's vaguely toilet-spray-y. Dry: The myrrh is wonderful, but it just doesn't seem to go with the florals that well. Pass.

    Whitechapel

It's funny what different scents can mean to different people - if I were to make a Whitechapel, it'd be "Bangladeshi spices being gradually overtaken by the creeping musk of gentrification". Sigh. I wish I could afford London. But anyway: In the imp: Lime and manliness. Wet: Lime gummy lollies. Dry: Smells a bit like ambergirs, eep! Thus, a less than gentlemanly mix of lime and sweaty man armpit :/

    White Rabbit

In the imp: Cirtusy, pepper-y clean-ness. Wet: Pepper, citrus and the lab's tea note, which is pretty much anise on me. Dry: This is so faint on me that it's hard to say, but I think I mostly get citrus (so, Earl Grey tea?) but it might actually be the linen note? I get some spices and sweetness too, but overall it's pretty meh.

    Water Dragon

In the imp: A sharp, not particularly sweet, cirtus. Wet: Oh, gorgeous. A tangy and light citrus with hints of pine and resin. Dry: A lovely mixture of pine and sweet fruity things. Alas! It is naught but a memory after a few hours.

    Voodoo Lily

In the imp: Ooh, this is lovely. A spiciness quite reminiscent of The Lion. Wet: The spice is almost foody, and I do get the Coke comparison. It's a gorgeous spice innyhoo, mixed with hints of floral and something vaguely citrusy. Dry: It's like The Lion got together with a sexy-ass flower. GLORIOUS.

    Vixen

In the imp: Sweet, almost chocolatey patchouli. Wet: PATCHOULI!!! PATCHOULI!!! Dry: Dried into a sweet and fruity patchouli thing. Hmmm, pass.

    Viola

In the imp: Seems to be mostly myrrh and rose, with a hint of orange. Wet: Quite similar to Belle Epooque, in the combination of citrus and lily/other sweet things. Dry: A really nice, though faint, mix of rose, myrrh and other pretty notes.

    The Vine

In the imp: Okay, so there's these lollies here in NZ called Fruitbursts, and they have a banana flavour which is universally agreed to be foul and disgusting (some people who live in the land of the twilight mad disagree, but they are WRONG and quite possibly DANGEROUS)... yeah, this smells just like banana-flavoured Fruitbursts. Wet: While the artificial banana is still present, it's much nicer on my skin. The honey and cream come out, and the pear note becomes much more true. Dry: A lovely mix of fresh pear, sweet honey, and cream. I really do like it, but alas, it's too faint on me to make it bottle-worthy.

    Vicomte de Valmont

In the imp: Good lord that's manly. Possibly getting some orange blossom and mint. Wet: The orange is lovely, and I'm getting some herbal notes too. Dry: A nice mix orange blosson, herby notes, and INTENSE MASCULINITY. Far, far too manly for me, but would be amazing on the right dude.

    Veritas

In the bottle: Sweet and spicy. Frankincense dominant. Wet: Carnations, chamomile and frankincense. Lovely. Dry: A gorgeous spicy frankincense blend.

    Velvet

In the imp: Veeery dark chocolate and sandalwood. Brings patchouli to mind. Wet: Still quite dark chocolate, but the sweetness and spices are kicking up a bit. Dry: A nice enough mix of chocolate, woods and spices. A bit intense for me, though it did mellow nicely after a few hours.

    Valentine of Rome

In the imp: This just smells like Christmas in a way I can't really describe. Sweet frankincense is the dominant note. Wet: Frankincense and blood, which is pretty much identical to clove. Dry: On me this is really just frankincense and clove, which is fine by me as they're two of my favourite notes. So glad I got a bottle!

    Urd

In the imp: Mostly grape, something a bit smoky in the background. Wet: Patchouli kicking in like whoa. Kinda gross, ngl. Dry: Patchouli and grape with a bit of incense? I was hoping for something like Gaueko, but this just doesn't seem to work on me.

    Two, Five & Seven

In the imp: Rose. Effervescent and almost fruity. Wet: Rose, with a hint of grass coming through. Dry: Yeah, this is like rose lemonade (which needs to be invented, if it isn't already). It's nice enough, but won't usurp London as my go-to rose scent.

    Tea

Hahaha, I love how he's all like "hehehe, time for a sip." I hope it wasn't too hot, or that shit could get dangerous. Anyway... In the imp: Verbena and a teensy bit of star anise. Wet: Pretty much pure verbena. Dry: Verbena dominant, but I do get some sweet anise. It's nice enough, but I was hoping for more, well, tea.

    Tattered Lace

In the imp: I can't pick out any individual notes, but it's a complex scent, both bitter and sweet. Wet: Vanilla in the background with a greenish, slightly bitter note dominating (cognac, perhaps?). Dry: A booozy vanilla. Not bad, and I do like the concept, but too sweet for me.

    MVJBA: Summer Summoning Spectacular

In the imp: This smells just like McDonald's hotcakes with the butter and syrup on... omg... I LOVE PANCAKES. Wet: Pancakes and coffee and incense and grass. GLORIOUS. Dry: A sort of grassy incensey smell... WITH PANCAKES. As you can probably tell, my default state is barely containing the urge to eat my body weight in pancakes, so this proabably isn't the best perfume for my health... BUT I DON'T CARE, I MUST HAVE A BOTTLE OF THIS!
  22. whitsunweddings

    The Steeple

In the imp: Sweet and kind of murky. Wet: Murky, herbal sweet cologne. Dry: Kind of like Shadwell, but with more of a foresty sweetness vibe. An odd one.
  23. whitsunweddings

    Sri Lanka

In the imp: PATCHOULI Lanka. Wet: Cedar and sweet incense. This is pretty much identical to Kathmandu. Dry: Like Kathmandu, but with a patchouli kick. I prefer Kathmandu, which also has the benefit of not being discontinued! (she said, dickishly.)
  24. whitsunweddings

    Squirting Cucumber

Yikes! A spurt of wet, grassy greenness. In the imp: More grass than cucumber. Pretty and green-smelling. Wet: And now it's mostly cucumber. A very green scent. Dry: Cucumber with a slight grassy edge. This could very easily veer off into Dove deoderant territory, but thankfully it never does. Nice!

    Sprinklecake

In the imp: Intensely sweet cake icing smell. Oy, it makes my teech ache. Wet: SO SWEET. Butter, icing, but also kinda like lemonade? Dry: This doesn't seem to work on my skin. It's kind of cakey, but the vaguely citrusy/artificial sweetener note dominates. I gave my cat a cuddle not long after putting this on, and when I sniffed him later he smelled just like delicious cakey things. So yeah. It's not you, Sprinklecake, it's me.
