  1. A lively tune is being played nearby; it is syncopated, a disjointed song, but perky and upbeat. As you turn to the next stage, you see the broad back and shaggy hair of the next performer. He is seated on a stool in front of a battered upright piano. Wire pokes out from holes in the back of the decrepit beechwood, and broken pinblocks are scattered on the floor. A bowl of glistening viscera has been plopped on a small end table next to the pianist. You can see that the ivory keys of the piano are smeared with blood. He pounds and tinkles the keys merrily, and laughs to himself. The man turns to the audience, and his unkempt russet hair, feral yellow eyes, wild balbo, and chin curtain beard betray his lycanthropic nature. He smiles widely, innocently, and waves his red-stained, black-clawed paw in a genial welcome. He bellows cheerfully, “Hi there! Make yourself comfortable! Don’t you look absolutely necrolishious! HA! HAHA! I just made that word up!” He laughs again, turns, and resumes playing the piano. The rambling tune picks up pace, and he plays with a showman’s flourish. The song slows as he chats with the audience from over his shoulder. “You know, my ex-girlfriend was a real handful, but really… I’ve never known a woman that was as tender as she was. She was all gushy, and well… to be honest, she just fell to pieces for me. Eventually, things ran their course… three courses, really… and, as they say, nothing lasts forever. But I’ll always have a piece of her, here… close to my heart.” He chuckles, and pats the chest of his patchwork overcoat. In the distance, possibly from Meskhenet’s stage, you hear one of the phantom musicians give Wulric a gratuitous rim shot. Friendly, charming, and cuddly, but possessing one hell of a mean streak: cocoa absolute, French vanilla, birch tar, lavender, bourbon vetiver, wild musk, cardamom husk, clary sage, and cistus. I never smelled the original one, so here goes...this is a decant I got. In decant - Something a little sweet yet sharp. Guessing it is the vetiver.... it is a sharp note to me. On skin - Some note does make it a little "cuddly" But I think it is the darn vetiver that makes it too sharp for me. I am really not detecting much of the other notes. They are there....faintly. Dry down - I get a bit of the lavender out of this. This is in no way a foody blend, for those worried about the cocoa or vanilla notes. This does have a feral kind of scent to it, but lightly dusted with the lavender and sage. Has a medium throw on me, but I think this would be better on a guy!

    Mr. Prenderghast

Sweet cigar smoke, brown wool, Old Furry Touk accord, and a little bit of coffee. Wow...first to review. Ok...do my best!! Wet: All I smell is sweet tobacco...not too strong, but that is all I get at the moment. On Skin: Still sweet pipe tobacco, but a little sharp at the same time. I don't get any coffee out of this. I do get a sense of wool. Dry down: Mellows nicely, but stays true to the above. I think this would be nice on a guy...not me.

    Madagascan Vanilla Rum

A complex single note accord that melds pure bourbon vanilla with the scent of fermented molasses. The scent is dark, thick, sweet, heavy and rich, with a slight spicy smokiness. Wet in bottle: Very yummy rich vanilla...can smell the booze, but it isn't overpowering and very nice! On Skin: Stays the same....but the booze note comes out to play causing the vanilla to hide a bit...still ok!! Few minutes later: Sadly, the booze note (which I was worried about) has gone a bit plastic-y on me. I was holding out hope for this one. Might have to swap/sell away.

Dark Chocolate, Whiskey, and Hazelnut Cream

Saw this scent listed, and it was an instant buy! I was hoping for a box o' chocolate scent like this. Reminds me of the ones that came out... what... over a decade ago? Anyway, sniffing in the bottle, yes!! The dark chocolate and whiskey are the notes I detect first. There is a mild nutty cream to it. On my skin, it is heaven!! RICH dark chocolate and smooth whiskey with the hazelnut cream, I really want a bite of this! This is rich and deep! Foody/gourmand lovers need this ASAP. This is well balanced and not sweet, but foody and grown up! As it dries, it stays rich. The whiskey isn't 'boozy' but it has that edge that keeps the chocolate and hazelnut cream from being overly sweet. I love this! Might need a BU bottle!!!

    Cacao, Black Leather, and Incense

OOh.. this is good. Sniffing in the bottle, I get all the scents... the cacao, leather and incense. It is a nice even blend of all three. On my skin, the leather jumps out first. Heavy BLACK leather! Not a sweet loving suede! After it dries down it mellows out quite a bit. I detect mostly the leather and incense. The cacao is in the background keeping this from being too heavy, which is good. I was nervous it would be a huge in-your-face kind of scent. This is a scent to wear out on the town... not in the office!

    Black Ice Sleeper

Sniffing in the bottle, there is a bitter apple! There is a hint of something perfume-y/cologne-y, but it isn't heavy. I am not a fan of anything like that, but this is beautiful! On my skin, it stays the same. I am not getting any 'ice' from this blend, but maybe it is the light perfume-y part of it and my nose just smells it wrong! This has great throw and amazing wear length. All the way, it stays that bitter apple. I wouldn't say this is a foody scent, but if you like apples and foody scents, you will dig this.

    Pinched With Four Pumpkins

Swapped for this one, VERY glad I did!! Sniffing in the bottle and initially on my skin, I smell pumpkin tea! Cold pumpkin tea. I was worried, but then as is dried, the lovely bark and cinnamon and hint of tobacco come out!! It is a lovely pumpkin-spiced wood on me. I detect a little whiff off coffee in the dry stage, but this is a light scent to me and stays close but it is a perfect autumn scent! I am a foody/gourmand type person and this is wonderful!!

    Sugar Plum Snake Oil

Yep... there is that wonderful Snake Oil we all love and a hint of fruit! Agreed, the plum is sweet and it mingles well with the S.O. After it dries a bit, I get mostly S.O. with a dash of the sugar plum. This, to me, is actually not very sweet on my skin. This is a lovely and fun scent!! Will be interesting to see how this one ages!

    Sugar Plum Snow White

This smells very good in the bottle. I get the sweet purple plum scent along with the Snow White! Applied, the 2 scents mingle more and I get a good balance between the plum and S.W. After a bit, the sugar plum is a little more dominant. As it dries, I am not getting much S.W. from this, but there is a bit there to keep this from going too sweet. Medium throw for me and it is a lovely scent. I think I am more of a fan of the plain Snow White.

    Deep Fried Gingerbread

Had to get this gingerbread scent too. Sniffing, this one is a bit sweeter than my review for Gingerbread Campfire. This one is good! It is a more of a cookie type gingerbread (which I love) and it does smell like it has been fried! Low throw on me and stays close to the skin. This one isn't overly sweet, so anyone worried about that, you don't have anything to fear. A nice gingerbread spice that was fried. Simple as that! It will be interesting to see how this ages.

    Gingerbread Campfire

Just got my BPAL delivered... got 4 bottles. Always hard to pick one first. So I did this one. I am a sucker for gingerbread!! Sniffing in the bottle, it isn't a sweet, cookie-like gingerbread. more like a raw gingerbread, if that makes sense. Not sure what I am smelling. I thought it was going to be smoky, hence the name, but it isn't. On my skin, the gingerbread gets a bit more of a baking type spice, but still not sweet. There is a background note that I think makes it seem like a campfire, but it is almost a plastic smell. A plastic gingerbread. It isn't bad, but it is odd to me. I was hoping it would be more of a cookie like gingerbread with that smoky campfire vibe, but not getting that. Stays close to the skin and not a lot of throw. Not sure this is for me since I am more of a foodie/gourmand lover.

    Beaver Moon 2021

Like above, when I sniff, there is a wonderful, thick syrupy gooey spicy cherry with a bit of chocolate, like how it smells when you bite into a choco covered cherry. I love cherry scents, but also a little leery of it because it can be either WAY too sweet or smell like cough syrup. I think the addition of the chocolate and pumpkin help makes it smell VERY good!! On, the pumpkin spiciness comes out, but isn't overbearing. The chocolate & cherry are there as well. I get a hint of cheesecake, but no crust. A crust-less cheesecake! As it dries, I get cherry & pumpkin. Sounds odd, but the two smell very good together! I really like this!! I bet it will get amazing with age. This is a good one for foody/gourmand lovers like myself!

    Sugar Cookie Snake Oil

Just got this delivered... had to test ASAP! Sniffing in the bottle, it is a little weak. However, on my skin, I get what seems like musk. Maybe after it warms up a bit from the mailbox, it will be different. Interested in other reviews to see if anyone else is getting a musk scent Edit to add, I keep getting musk out of this. I hope there wasn't a mix up with bottles & labels. Woke up this morning and can still smell musk on me from this. I really think I got a mislabeled bottle.. and it makes me sad! I do not like musk and it is all I am smelling. Adding it to my swap/sell page.

    PSL: Pumpkin Snake Latte

HAD to get this scent. I love my Snake Oil and I do have a bottle of Pumpkin Latte that I also love, so heck yeah! Sniffing in the bottle, I can smell both the S.O. and the pumpkin latte! YUM! On my skin, I get an even balance of both scents, oh this is very good! Nice throw for me as well. This is right from the mailbox and it is so good. As we know, this will get better with age as well! Very autumn and cozy!!!

    Razor Blade Candy Apple

Straight from the mailbox.. I can never wait for a new scent to settle! Sniffing in the bottle, sweet apple! Not sugary, but sweet. On my skin, the candy apple is very fun! Mild and sweet. As it dries, I don't get anything metallic that I thought would be a part of the 'razor blade' part but there is something lingering that makes the candy apple a bit unedible, so be wary biting into it!! This has medium throw and isn't sugary sweet, but has a sweet bite to it. If you are a foody/apple scent lover, you will love this! Editing to add, after testing this, trying to figure out what this reminds me of...it is a close relative to the Lab's Poisoned Apple, but with a candy apple!! I am really digging this!

    White Chocolate and Asian Pear

[No additional description provided.] Another sweet win! In the bottle, it is a lovely white choco and pear! On skin - it stays the same... it is a sweet choco/pear. Not overly sweet, but sweet enough for foody lovers! Drydown - the pear comes out a little more in front, but the choco is there. Very light.... fades quick, but it is very nice. *Edited to give better review..... did a proper test!
  17. Our boots and clothes are all in pawn! Go down ye blood red roses, go down! A Little Pirate’s indulgence: rum cupcakes and vanilla ice cream with a hot toddy. Can't compare this to the perfume, since boozy scents seem to not work on me, but I had to try the HG! In bottle: Buttery rum cupcakes! YUM! In damp hair: This is actually quite a light scent... I get the rum and cupcake scent right away! I detect the smallest hint of coconut, but that might just be my brain wanting to connect rum with coconut! I don't get "toddy" out of this, but the vanilla and rum cupcake, YES! Very little throw, but it yummy nonetheless! This, to me, would make a great summery HG.

    Fireplace Cinders

WHOA!! First sniff in the bottle...is a blast of....not sure what I am smelling!! Heavy... very nasal clearing! Could be something like camphor...not sure, but along those lines! On skin - Ok, it does settle into what smells like an almost burned down fire, but there is also something green?? I know that doesn't make sense, but there is something semi aquatic there.... very faint! Surprising low throw on me, but it is more masculine to me. Think this would be better on a guy.
  19.
Popularized by the reality TV show "Real Cultists of Arkham Hills"! Wow....to be first!! Sniff in bottle: a slightly sweet pumpkin-ish, grainy scent. Maybe that is the treacle? On Skin: Don't get any pumpkin or pecan...although there is a sweetness to it, and that grainy scent. Drydown: Stays the same after a few minutes. Not sure if it's for me...even though I am a foodie lover, especially pumpkin scents, but this seems a bit too grainy. Was hoping for more of a pastry scent...might let this settle since I just got it!!
  20. The scent of chicory coffee (au lait!) and sugared pastries. Oh always fun (and pressure) to be first!! Thanks to my Fairy that got this for me!! In the bottle: Very sweet, almost candy-like coffee! So good!! On Skin: Sweet sugary pale coffee. Would thought the chicory would be stronger.....reminds me of Pumpkin Latte minus the pumpkin! Drydown: The coffee note comes out, but pale. I get a sweet yet sharp sugar note if that makes sense. The Au Lait comes out a bit. This is a beautiful scent and I think it will get richer with age! After about 15 minutes: This gets so good....maybe it is the chicory note I am detecting, but it turns to an awesome slightly bitter coffee note with a whiff of the sugar from the pastry to just soften it up!! If you had issues with other coffee scents (too strong or just odd) you will love this!!

    Cinnamon & Leather

Like above, this is mostly a leather scent, but it is so nice! I too get a suede out of it, but it is very soft. If you are a leather fan but don't like too strong of scents or anything cloying, as some can be, this is for you! It stays close to the skin on me and has a medium throw. I don't detect the cinnamon, but yes, I believe it tames the leather. I really love this scent! It is simple and great alone but would make a great layering note!
  22. “Save your slobbering,” said the old woman. “It doesn’t help you at all.” Caramel apples, cardamom cakes, hazelnut cream, and butterscotch. My review is sniffing this right out of the bottle straight from the mailbox. Will edit once I have it in my hair. I get the butterscotch right away before even unwrapping the bubble wrap! Sniffing in the bottle.... it is a big 'ol blast of caramel apples and butterscotch! Being a foody/candy lover, so far, this is great!! I get the feeling that if Sugar Slathered Candy Apple and Candy Corn Coated Candy Apple mingled, this would be the result. A definite relative of the two scents! It's rich and sweet and smells amazing!! Can't wait to try this in my hair tomorrow. Hoping it will have the same strength on as sniffing!! Love this! Editing to add... in my damp hair.... oh boy this is sooo good!! I get full on caramel apples and butterscotch. The cardamom and hazlenut are not very prominent. but I detect a hint. This has a medium throw to me. Get this if you are a foody lover!!!

    Whip Hair Gloss

Agony and ecstasy: black leather and damp red rose. Can't believe I am first....seem other people would have gotten this already! In the bottle - I get roses...just roses. It is a soft rose, nothing too strong, but it's there. I am worried about it because I am not a rose fan, but most of the time, the HG counterpart to perfumes tend to work. On damp hair - Well, I still get rose. It is kind of nice. I am not detecting the leather in it, but it might be just that note that is keeping the rose from being too overbearing. But like most of us, I am sure, notes we don't like tend to be "overpowering" to our noses. Not sure I want to keep this... it is a perfect HG for springtime.... it is light and rosy, but I was hoping for a bit more of the leather to peek out. If you are a fan of light florals and roses, this is for you! Delicate in fact... to me at least.

    Coffee Bean & Caramel

So excited to have this! I love anything coffee scented! Sniffing in the bottle, I get both notes... slightly bitter coffee and sweet caramel! On my skin, it stays the same. This is a yummy blend of both notes. The coffee bean is more dominant, but the caramel is in the background. This stays close to my skin... medium throw. I really love this and I hope it gets richer with age, even though it is very good as is now. This is great alone or to use to layer with another scent!

    Twelve Drummers Drumming Hair Gloss

Recently got a sample of this....I remember when it came out and seeing the notes I thought this is not for me, BUT, oh my goodness... this is a super awesome scent. The leather is just right. Not too strong and not weak. Not getting chrome spikes, but this is a nice, masculine scent that anyone can wear! If you love leather scents, find this. I need to find me a bottle!
