    Snap-Dragon-Fly

This turned really cheap from Walmart holiday candle on me, right down to that zinc core wick smell somewhere...I don't seem to have a lot of luck with baked goods type foodie scents.

    Jezebel

Ordinarily if it has honey in it it works great for me, bpals honey is practically a fixative scent with my chemistry, great throw, lasts forever. However, I think adding the orange blossom (which has been pleasant enough in other scents) turns this into a cloying over scented baby products extravaganza, which is a shame because I think the rose and honey and sandlewood would be delightful, but the honey and orange just turn the whole thing into a stinky cage match on me. I wound up with a bottle of this as part of a group sale, I may try it in a burner, but most likely will wind up in a trade pile.

    Peach II

So far this is most certainly my favorite. The peach scent isn't overpowering other notes and it has a light sweet effervescent scent and yet it is holding to my skin really well. Very refreshing and a perfect summertime scent. I think the citrus adds to it very well. (another of the peach set I'd tried and I can't remember which one it was now vanished almost instantly to my nose I'll have to wear it around someone else and see if they can still smell it even though I can't.)

    Peony Moon

Peony, plum blossom, water reeds and soft Asian woods. In the bottle a gentle weave of soft freshwater aquatic notes and mild floral sweetness. Wet on skin: hello there peony! My mother grew a line of peonies along a fence that was a good 4 feet long as I was growing up. I remember stepping out of the back door and being swamped by the sweet spicy scent. These peonies this perfume do not quite have the spicy bite a I'd remember from childhood but that sweet floral is very much present mellowed a lovely way by the plum blossom. I assume it is the water reads that are adding the soft aquatic note which is also helping to balance the peony. I have not particularly notice the wood fragrance nor am I noticing the green note that usually accompanies peony although you may only get that when you cut the flowers for a bouquet for the kitchen table. This scent remains very stable, but like most fragrances with aquatic notes is a very mild throw on me. I also had to apply rather generously. Regardless, I really like this scent and am glad I picked up a bottle from a forum member. I am hoping that I will see one up again in the future I like this well enough that I would like to get in other bottle. I am trying to branch out a way from my standard incense, musk, and spice type perfumes. I have always shied away from florals because I'd tend to amp them to nauseating levels, but I am learning that Beth and company somehow have the magic touch and can produce florals that I can wear.

    Ozymandias

Desolation. The remnants of an empire, shivering with forgotten glories, a monument to megalomania, sundered power, and colossal loss. Dry desert air, dry and hot, passing over crumbling stone megaliths and plundered golden monuments, bearing a hint of the incense of lost Gods on its winds. spice, incense amd musk....a warm somewhat masculine scent with a tinge of something I can't quite identify,I want to a wine or brandy like note. I like this a lot.

    Follow Me Boy

citrus, jasmine, maybe honeysuckle? some kind of musk, faint green note of some kind...later in drydown develops a strong warm vanilla. The jasmine is a bit strong at first but bearable. I didn't really get any powder until acouple hours into drydown and it was faint. I didn't notice any boys following me though I like it enough to wear from to time

    Pet Magah Bird

Pet Magah Bird Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (BPAL) Yule: The Miskatonic Valley Yuletide Faire (Limited Edition) Status: Limited Every kid wants a pet magah bird! A prism of scent, an explosion of multi-colored feathers: blood orange, black plum, sugar cane, guava, frangipani, coconut, pimento berry, violet, caramel, and pear gack...whoa coconut caramel overload..this may be one of my few "eek wash it off, wash it off!" scents... not sure yet thank god the coconut is backing off...now it's caramel with other notes weaving in but I think the coconut caramel overkoad is rattling mys sense of smell to much to say exactly what, an afterbite of pear perhaps, and the tang of plum...fruit now fading and I've got caramel, faint tinge of coconut and the zing of spicy pimento. pimento, coconut and caramel. I think this bird wikk be flying the coop.

    Lady Lilith

Lady Lilith, Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Climbing rose, vanilla cream, vanilla flower, white tea, mandarin, red and white musks, opium poppy, Parma violet, and opoponax. In the bottle this had a spicy floral scent. However when I put it on my skin all im initially getting in the wet stage is the opoponax, and perhaps a bit of the musk. The florals and vanilla are completely absent. It's a lovely spicy musky scent but I I am really hoping the florals pop up soon. Eventually well into dry down I began to pick up the faint thread of rose and occasionally a tinge of vanilla, but this scent remains primarily a musk and myrrh fragrance for me. I don't know if it is because of how it has aged (I bought this on the forum) or if it is just my body chemistry. I'm really rather disappointed after reading that everyone else got such lovely floral in mandarin notes. I will set this back and try it again in a couple of weeks I am currently on antibiotics and I know in the past that has sometimes made my body chemistry wonky, although I have not noticed it messing up my other regular fragrances.

    Blue Morpho

wet on the skin a very crisp very lightLY floral scent, to me it almost smells like a fresh water aquatic. Oddly enough I can't determine if the floral I'm picking up is the orchid or the lily or the pikake (a note I'm unfamiliar with) it's definitely not honeysuckle, its remaining very stable. Even after a couple of hours this continues to be a very light floral with a fresh water aquatic note . it remains stable to what it was wet in the bottle. It has very little throw even though I slathered in on but it does seem to be lasting well. I like it I just wish it had more throw.

    The Vine

The Vine Lupercalia 2012: Love Poems Bradford pear, honey, and vanilla cream. My My, this is a fairly straightforward an simple perfume but elegant and delightful all the same. In the bottle and wet on skin is the combination of pear the cream notes blended with a light sweetness. I'm not necessarily picking up the honey or vanilla right away and I usually amp honey to a crazy degree. In fact anything with a honey note usually has incredible throw and lasting power on me but I'm not really getting that definitive honey scent here. The pear note is not a sweet foody type but rather that tangy tart crisp kind of pear. In the dry down I began to pick up some of the vanilla blending with the pear. I'm always impressed how Beth and company at the lab can take fragrances that for many other company I would run screaming but bpal blends them so expertly that they turned out magnificent. I don't care for foody type scents, but here is a product that is mostly food scent notes that smells not overly sweet and makes you hungry but rather smells rich even somewhat floral but still retaining the pure essential notes of the fruit and cream and spice. Bpal is about the only place that can get me to where food based scents or certain types of florals because I know there are excellent chance that they will make it work. Well into dry down honey finally comes up slightly in the background so I am hoping this is one of those scents that will last and have delightful throw. The end result seems to be a balance of a honey and milky note interwoven with brief whiffs of the tart tangy pear. The vanilla is a bit hard to separate from the milky note, but I can detect them swapping back and forth if I paid close attention. I'm really glad I got a bottle of this, it's lovely and light for summertime and I have a ceiling if I get the opportunity I would like to pick up another bottle or two for the future.

    Scents for dreaming

Almost all of my dreams are about loved ones or other people who have passed away. They always seem to be that someone is hiding them from me or constantly moving them and I am trying to find them or save them. And the case of my ex husband always nightmares of trying to get away from him or of him trying to confine me.

    Quirkiest, most bizarre oils

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Kali. It has such an odd combination of so many ingredients and they all tend to stand out. I get many comments on it when I wear it. It is a little like the centozin tz-whatever (the however many rabbits Aztec scent) but much more complex.

    Honey and Beeswax scents

Honey for some reason is a component that one in bpal always gives me fantastic throw and lasting power. I'm also a big fan of against idleness and mischief, jezebel, Doc constantine's sassafras strengthener, and there are a couple of others that I can't name right off my head (O mead Moon) and I would love to try the various honey scents in rappicini's garden.

    Honey and Beeswax scents

The sassafras strengthener is quite a bit like against idleness and mischief. I believe it also has hyssop in it. Lovely floral herbal with strong honey.

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

Im amongst those who mourn the loss of shadow witch orchid, I have found that on my skin luna noir is a little bit similar, and another scent that I am mourning the loss of is blood countess. nuit is also another one I'm missing. Actually if you go through my list of beloved fragrances it seems as though have have been discontinued. I know there is something like black orchid? In rappicini's garden and I wonder if it is anything like the shadow orchid was.

    Dilution and Carrier Oils

Coconut fragrances of almost any kind tend set off my asthma issues severely. Granted im talking about the incense and air fresheners suntan oil and even sometimes cooking oil have done this, although it's usually artificial scents or enhanced products. I also have severe reactions to desiccated coconut but we do not know if that was the coconut itself were something that might have been added to it. There have been times in the past where I was able to consume small amount of fresh coconut product (I was unaware of the time or might have avoided) and had no problem, but I am wary of investing in a large jar of probably expensive super refined coconut oil and run the risk of breaking out in a horrible rash or having some other type of problem and the rest being wasted. Do you know if the company you purchase from would be willing to send a sample size for me to try?

    Coyote

In imp amber and musk. wet on skin, similar to scent from imp but with faint green note change that seems like sage but not as strong sort of did ghost of sage. There are also some faint wood tones, I want to say perhaps rosewood. This is very nice it comes out of the imp with all of the notes present and very nicely balanced. I hope it continues this way and does not morph to something odd. If it stays like this I would very much like to own a bottle.

    Eros

Usually Myrrh and I get along well but I have never worn something where myrrh was evidently a primary scent. In the bottle this smelled kind of funky and weird, on skin was pretty much like in the bottle. There was sort of a burnt charry odor that was dominant with a little bit of floral and sweetness beneath. I'm not a big fan of the smoke, burned, gunpowder, cigarette and similar type scents so I was feeling not so great about this one. About 20 minutes into drydown the burnt odor has shifted two more of a strong smoky incense, perhaps the influence of the resins. It is still somewhat of a dominant odor but has become much more pleasant and bearable. Beneath it you can pick up the sweetness of the honey wine and the faint tinge of floral. Not sure that this is something I would wear often but it is interesting to have around as something to wear as a break from my normal patterns. I could see this working well as a winter time fragrance. Probably will not be a regular order from me but not something that I would turn down if someone wanted to pass off an imp or a bottle. It would be put to use.

    Kaidan

Kaidan Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (BPAL) Boom! Studios: Irredeemable (General Catalog) Status: Available Youngest of The Paradigm, when Kaidan recites the ghost stories of Japanese legend, she brings their spectral warriors to life. Rosehip, plum blossom, white sandalwood, jonquil, and amber-laden incense. In the bottle, this has this spicy floral scent. On the skin, the sandalwood and amber incense are dominant, the sandalwood slightly stronger. The florals show up as a faint undertone if you are sniffing right at skin level. During dry down this turns into an amazing scent, I will probably be ordering many more bottles of this. the softness and sweetness of the florals balance perfectly with the white sandalwood and amber incense. Everything balances perfectly and you can pick each individual note, it also has good throw, I hope it has lasting power. I think this has made it into my top 10 fragrances.

    Jezebel

Jezebel Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (BPAL) Ars Amatoria (General Catalog) Status: Available Biblical witch, priestess of Astarte, and general troublemaker. A true role model for today's upwardly mobile Modern Woman. A gloriously decadent blend of honey, roses, orange blossom and sandalwood. as always honey goes amp on my skin and is like a fixative scent, anything with honey lasts for hours and hours with me. I was worried about the rose 9it sometimes goes potpourri with me) but the honey kept it in check at a nice level. the orange blossom is mild but noticeable and the sandalwood is faint but present and grounds this wonderfully so it is not overwhelming sweet floral. I'm really fond of this one!

    Hunger

Evokes sheer, unadulterated carnal lust. An undeniably warm and sensual scent. Black narcissus, orange blossoms, and vanilla. Been wary of trying this scent ever since I saw the fragrance components as there is free imp I frequently receive that has always made me quite me feel rather ill, and it has very similar components.I'm not sure what the differing component is but it is a very strong sweet sickly fragrance. In the imp I simply get a faint tease Of floral and sweetness, nothing like the overwhelming sick syrup scent my mystery nemesis gives me. On skin: this is a very soft and rather mild innocent smelling fragrance wuth a very faint smoky dark undertone that I suspect comes from the narcissis. The vanilla is more of the orchid vanilla type and the orange blossom is quite fresh and very mild. The narcissus simply adds a slightly spicy are warmer note to the other two. All three blend together quite evenly and and make an excellent mild gentle fragrance. So far throw is medium and it seems to me holding up well. It is a very pretty light summer fragrance but I'm not sure it would inspire me to pounce on someone and carnal lust however I can see how it can be quite a tease to wear something was only the tiniest hint of naughty among all that innocence and a fragrance guess it would depend on where you wore it and what you wore it with. This is one of those I wouldn't mind having a bottle on hand amongst the " wear something one I don't have anything in particular in mind" days. It is a nice flexible simple fragrance that is not overwhelming and I don't suspect that it is one of those that would linger overly long our would clash horribly if you needed to change your scent later.

    Languor

An opiate torpor, soporific, trancelike, and sublimely languid. A poet?s morphine dream, a listless journey into a gentle dream and the precipice of intoxicated madness. Paperwhite and black narcissus, three lilies, black poppy and tuberose and a hint of hypnotic opium den haze. in imp, incense and florals on skin, an undertone of incense anchors this scent, its like a rich thick eastern temple incense. Over it I definitely pick up the lillies and tuberose, as well as other floral notes. I'm not to familar with narcissis or poppies, it has been a long time since I've smelled either but I suspect the poppy is responsible fot the slight nip of spiciness and the narcissus brings in the crystalline aquatic notes. As usual, all the notes are well balanced and present. I pre-oiled my perfume spots with unscented neutrogena oil, hopefully this will help the fragrance last a while. reminds me a little of blood countess, which I really miss.

    The Brides of Dracula

The Brides of Dracula Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (BPAL) Halloweenies: The Order of the Dragon (Limited Edition) Status: Limited Unquenchable desire, seething lust, malevolent sexuality, and voracious hunger lurking beneath a shimmering veil of unearthly beauty: gleaming skin musk, honey and white amber, plum blossom, osmanthus, sandalwood, calla lily, and a light, sensual blend of Eastern spices. I picked up this bottle from a fellow forum member and had one heck of a time finding the reviewer site. In the imp it is a swirl of musk and incense with a faint floral note. On the skin it is a very soft blend of musk, incenses, and a faint tinge of floral in which the plum blossom is very dominant. I pick up this sandalwood more strongly from the crook of my elbow than I do from my wrist, perhaps the dry down is slower there. There is a sense of sweetness from the honey but the actual honey note does not seem to be standing out. Well I did not slather with this which I often have to with my dry skin to get a full impression. what I have at the moment is of a very delicate musk and incense with a mild sweet floral notes but not overly perfumey. I think the spice most likely it's tangled into the musk sandalwood and amber notes it accents but does not speak out fully on its own. This is subtle but complex and delicate with a secretive darkness. This scent obviously aged magnificently and I would love to have more bottles The throw has become a tad stronger and I'm hoping there is enough honey in it that it will last all day, bpal honey, even if not a dominent note tends to glue scent to my skin. (I wish I could try the various floral honeys and figure out which ones I could blend to what for that gluing purpose

    Dyan Moon

Dyan Moon Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (BPAL) A Little Lunacy (Limited Edition) Status: Limited amaranth, musk rose, juniper, chaste tree, sweet bay, chamomile, rose mallow, Madonna lily, blue musk, wisteria, and iris. in bottle, very light crisp, sort of an aquatic floral feel. Wet on skin: floral with the spicy twist from the bay. Not sure what chaste tree is supposed to smell like but there might be a very weak wood note, almost like rosewood. I was a little worried about the juniper but it is very well balanced, not overtaking everything else. The wisteria is actually very strong, which I'm loving!! somewhere something in generating a very mild citrus-yet-not-citrus undertone. It's not a lemon note or a grapefruit note or neroli..maybe a little more like yuzu? Not verbena either....just a very faint brightness that tarts up the fragrance to keep the florals from getting to aggressive. final drydown is floral semi freshwater aquatic with a faint warm green note running through it and oddly, the occasional faint whiff of Ivory soap, which I don't mind. I like this rather well, wish I could get my hands on another bottle of it. Doesn't seem to have a lot of staying power though, I really think I need to moisturize my skin before applying scent, it all gets soaked up by how dry my skin is.

    Vampire Tears

Vampire Tears Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (BPAL) Shojo Beat (Limited Edition) Status: Limited this was a purchase from a forumite, not sure of its history but there is something off here...on skin wet getting sort of a smoked wood or burnt smell. tonka gone mental or something maybe? normally I'd expect to get mugged by florals, I amp them, but not really getting a hint. A little into drydown I pick up a little citrus, mostly grapefruit, maybe a tinge of green tea, but no real florals yet, still a lot of slightly scorched wood note. ah, after about a half hour jasmine definitely peeks out, and ginger speaks up. Other florals are lurking, but so far this is really not what I expected. After about 45 minutes the smoke wood note fades to a mild anchoring scent with a mild musk undertone and I wind up with more of what I was expecting, a gingery floral with citrus notes, though I had not expected the ginger to be predominant and the florals weaker, I'd expected the opposite knowing what my skin does but that tonka turned things upside down and it is not an unpleasant surprise. That long work up could be shorter, but I like this gingery citrus floral with a bit of smokey undertone. Ive not read any other reviews on this yet so I'm curious if this was how it ran to begin with or if the aging process and my chemistry worked some kind of hoodoo. edit:long hang time. had my doubts but now wouldn't mind acquiring another bottle.
