As a fan of Autumn Fancies (dry grass) and The Avenue (cocoa and spice) I figured this would be right up my alley, and thanks to LavenderCoffee I got to find out 😌 Wet, it smells like cardamom and cocoa- maybe even with a hint of something spicier, since it reminded me of the hot chocolate I made with cocoa, vegan advent calendar chocolates, oat milk, cardamom, and cayenne pepper Dry, the cardamom has faded to the faintest suggestion of spice, the cocoa adds some warmth close to skin, and I can only presume the cozy cool weather impression that reminds me of Autumn Fancies must be the hay. Well worth the effort of acquisition, definitely one of my favourites!

I preface this by saying that I bought Fruit of Paradise early this year, and it got sent to the wrong address, and was lost, perhaps forever. It has been an obsessive journey for me to track down another bottle, probably because I somehow didn't think of signing up to the forums previously, but at last, today, by the grace of Maljen, I have gotten my grubby little paws on a bottle of Fruit of Paradise, 2007. In bottle: whiff of pomegranatey juice. overtones of alcohol-y fumes, and a general feeling of coldness. Dark and heavy and heady, but not particularly juicy or sweet. On me, wet: The fruitiness comes out more now, dark red seeds plump and tart. It's very subtle, though, and sometimes I wonder where the scent has gone. When I do catch the scent, though, it makes my mouth water. On me, dry: It hasn't changed much, I think, although I can smell it clearer than just now. o_O Maybe my nose is wonky. There's not much throw, but this isn't an issue to me, because I'm weird like that. It smells pretty grown-up, in a way. I guess that's because I was expecting/hoping for it to smell like Pokka's pomegranate juice (which I love), and it came out less sweet, less bubbly. I must note that while it smells cold, it isn't the pomegranate that's been chilled, but that it's been sitting around in a cold place (technically you could argue that a fridge IS a cold place, but that's not what I'm trying to evoke here. ) Anyhow, I'm not disappointed by this at all, though I'm also not sure if I'd find it worth the trouble to hunt down another bottle of this.

I just got my Sugar Skull (2008). Wheeeeeeeeee!! Anyhow *coughs*. First whiff I caught was pure candied fruit to me. Sniffing the bottle again gives me overtones of booze. Mmmm, sweet booze. I put some on my wrists immediately, and it still smells like candied fruit. No booze, though, or not much of it. I have my nose to my wrist now, and as it's drying I can smell more of the sugar. A dark, rich, moist muscovado sugar. Maybe candied fruits on a stovetop with a few tablespoons of brown sugar. It's sweet, but not overwhelmingly so, as the fruits lend an edge of tartness to the mix. (I pulled my nose away from my wrists to sniff the bottle again, and it smells like bubblegum. Is bubblegum a fruit? ) ..... *pops bubble wrap that Sugar Skull came in while waiting for it to dry* ..... It's dried down to moist dark brown sugar with a hint of fruitiness now; hurrah! I wanted brown sugar, I got brown sugar. :love!:
