    Hearth

I loved last year's version of Hearth because of the pipe tobacco and cherry, so I was sad to hear this year's version was different. That didn't stop me from buying it of course, but it made me sad. I get really strong butter when it's in the bottle. Almost overpowering actually. Once it's on the skin, it starts off as pure butter. Then the brown sugar comes out and it calms down a little to something very warm. I slowly get nuts and pine, but not smoke. It's a very strong foody scent on my skin, which I love, but I still like the '04 better. I'm definitely keeping the '05 and possibly getting another bottle though. It's still a winner in my book. The '04 version just happens to be my second favourite scent. Edited on 12/18: The more I try this, the less I like it. It's kind of musty and old smelling even though it's a new bottle. I think I'll be trying ti swap this away to get more of the '04 version. Ah well.

    Beaver Moon 2005

Mmm...This is wonderful. In the bottle it's a very warm, cake smell. Spicy and sweet at the same time with a definite hit of cream cheese or cheesecake smells. Once it's on my skin, it smells just like red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. It's so spicy and delicious. I seriously want to gnaw on my own arm, but somehow I'm resisting. I think I'm going to have to scare up another bottle of this. My second one is a gift for someone else.

    Havisham

I got nothing out of Havisham but soap. :/ It smells very strongly of medicinal soap at that. I'm glad I got to try the scent out, but I'm very sad it didn't work on me.

    Lughnasadh

I feel very lucky to get to try this scent out. It's very hard to get ahold of and of course, I have to fall in love with it. That's how it always is. This is a very lovely cinnamon-apple scent with warmth and sweetness to it. It's like mulled wine and I just love it. It kind of reminds me of Lady MacBeth with a slightly more cinnamony base. I'm going to have to try and get more, but until then, I'll cherish my little imp.

    Hearth

Oh Hearth. [sighs happily] This reminds me forcefully of my grandfather's house in the winter where he'd have a fire going and be smoking his pipe. It's one of those scents I'll put on when I need a comforting scent. Something that's not too girly, but not too masculine at the same time. Something that just makes me smile when I catch a whiff of it. Wet it smells like cherries and smoke to me. A hint of tobacco and fire. Complex and lovely. On my skin it becomes smoky and sweet and just lovely. It's got decent throw and lasts a long time. One of my coworkers who never notices what I'm wearing noticed this one and complimented it. Of course, it's because he smokes pipes himself so he recognized the scent, but I'll still take it as a compliment. And this has been rereleased with a bit of a change. I can't wait to try the new Hearth!

    Rose Red

This is so amazingly rose. I can't really add anything that hasn't been said, but wow. It smells exactly like the roses my aunt has in front of her house. I'm not a rose fan personally. I've been buying a lot of Beth's rose scents and passing them onto my mother. However, I'm going to hold onto my imp of this for myself and maybe, just maybe give her the bottle I'm going to buy. Maybe.

    Snow White

I snagged a bottle of this from the lab via Ebay, so I'm pretty certain it's the '04 version. And I'm so very happy to see that it's been rereleased this year as well. In the bottle: Creamy florals. A very light scent with maybe a hint of mint to it. On my skin: Green and milky. It's so *interesting*. I keep sniffing my arm because I can't quite pick out what's making me like it so much. That's not a bad thing of course, but it's definitely keeping me from doing much else. Verdict: This is a definite winner. I'm so glad I got to try it and I'm so glad I'm going to get the opportunity to buy a couple more bottles before it disappears again for another year.

    June Gloom 2004

I was really intrigued by this scent. I love the description and the idea behind it. So I was happy to get an imp of this. In the vial: Lemon pledge. Or dishsoap. Something very fake and unpleasantly lemon. On my skin: Ugh. No change. Still lemon and antiseptic. No sweetness to this at all. Just antiseptic lemons. Verdict: This will be passed on to someone who'll hopefully appreciate it more than I do. I'm glad I got to try it though.

    Mi-Go Brain Canister

In the bottle, this is really hard to pin down. It's got a lot of components that make it hard for me to determine what I'm smelling. It's flowery and fruity, but it's got this undertone of something ... rotting. On the wrists: Rotting flowers. Straight rotting flowers. It only stayed on for about five minutes because it was making me gag. It's been about a month since I tried this and I'm almost ready to try it again since no one wants to take it off my hands. But each time I open the bottle to sniff it, I get the rotting scent again and I just can't do it. Please, won't someone take my Mi-Go?

    Perversion

I got this as a frimp in my Numb order. My best friend loves this one so I cracked it open and slathered it on my wrists. In the bottle: Very Snake Oil to me with a hint of something darker. On the wrists: Snake Oil again with a bit of Snake Charmer actually, but it's got something in it that makes it hard to focus and attacks my sinuses. Drydown: After 10 minutes, the side effects stop and it dries down to something I really, really like, but I'm not willing to spend ten minutes having focusing issues and sharp pain in my sinuses for the really nice drydown. I'll pass this on to Chrissy and stick Snake Oil on when I want this scent.

    Beatrice

I picked this up for my mother, hoping that I could get an imp or two out of it for myself. I'm glad that I got it because I'm oddly charmed by Beatrice. In the bottle: Roses and spice. Definitely an interesting mix that makes me want to sniff more. On the skin: Spicy mostly with a bit of florals. It's not necessarily something I really love on my skin, but it's not offensive. After a bit: It's trying to go soapy and actually does for a little while, but only for about ten minutes or so. Drydown: After that it turns into warm roses with spices and a hint of vanilla. It's soft and warm and I like it a lot. Final thoughts: Definitely going to save an imp or two of this for myself. It's not something I'll wear very often, but it's lovely all the same. I expect Mom is going to love this.

    Numb

I bought this on a whim without reading reviews at all. Since people have started to get their orders, I've been getting more and more nervous. My best friend got an imp of it and couldn't get it away fast enough. So I was nervous. Very nervous. In the bottle: Sharp soap. Detergent and nothing else. Where's the violets? I'd even like some baby powder. On the skin: Omg. Still very sharp detergent scent. I want to wash it off immediately, but I'm going to stick with it. Hour later: Still soap, but slightly softer. If I sniff really hard at my arm, I can *kinda* smell something that could be violets or baby powder. But mostly it's still soap. I washed it off after that because I couldn't handle the smell of soap any longer. *sighs* This will be going into the swap pile to be put out in a couple of months when the flood of Numb slows down.

    Quietude

I've been searching for something that will help with insomnia and decided to test out Quietude. First off, it *works.* I'm instantly calmer and usually fall asleep within 15 or 20 minutes instead of 2-3 hours. This combined with coffee crudea (homeopathic sleep aid) works beautifully. I put a bit on the tip of my nose and a bit on the stuffed animal I sleep with so I can get a whiff later in the night. In the imp: Lavender and citrus. I can't tell what kind of citrus, but the sniff alone makes me calmer. On the skin: Lavender and grapefruit. So relaxing. I haven't actually gotten to a drydown phase with this because I fall asleep. *grins* Since that's what I'm looking for, I'm very, very pleased. I've slept better over the last two weeks since getting the imp than I have in months. Thank you so much, Beth!

    Formula 54

I was lucky enough to get an imp of this from bloodroseflower not long ago. I'd heard about the scent, the rariety of it, and the love for it. I stuck it on the wishlist, but never expected to fullfill that wish. But I got to and I am *so* glad I did. This is warm and sultry and so very feminine. The cherry is there, but it's got this warmth to it from the cloves. And the tobacco just plays so well here. It's very sweet in the vial, but it tones down fast on my skin and just leaves me feeling sexy and powerful. I am definitely going to wear this when I need an extra kick of sexy woman. <g>

    Dead Man's Hand

Whew! Leather and rawhide. It caught me in the back of the throat as soon as I sniffed it. The boy sniffed it and made a face, saying it reminded him of leather car seats sitting in the sun. Which is not so bad, but not what I was hoping for. I put it on me and for some reason, it smelled like Bed of Nails on me. Yes, it was leathery, but there was also a metallic tinge to it that made it impossible for me to wear. It's exactly how it was described, just not something I can wear. *sets aside to swap*

    House of Mirrors

I wanted to love this because I'm a *huge* fan of amber and clean scents, but this went very antiseptic on me just like Sea of Glass did. It smelled wonderful in the bottle, but once it hit my skin, it changed to antiseptic. *sighs* Off to the swap pile to find a woman (or man) of less discriminating tastes.

    Kunstkammer

I got this imp about 3 weeks ago and never really got around to testing it. This morning I needed a pick me up to make it to the airport at 8 am to pick up the boy, so I grabbed Kunstkammer thinking that the blood orange would work. And boy did it! This scent surprised me so much. It's rich and full and ORANGE. But not overwhelming. It's what I had hoped Moxie would be. It perked me right up and kept me going until I had run all my errands and came home to shower before work. In the bottle: Blood oranges. So yummy. On the skin: Blood oranges and something a bit spicy - the pepper most likely. Dry down: A slightly softer orange scent that is richer than the beginning, but still has a nice, gentle throw that makes me feel comfortable and alert. I've already snagged a 5ml of this. I sense I'm going to be the girl in a year begging for another bottle of this. Such a great pick me up scent!

    Kabuki

I bought this for the cherry scent, hoping the anise wouldn't be overpowering. I like the smell of anise, but only in small doses. In the imp this smells like sweet cherries. Totally yummy and exactly what I was hoping for. Sadly, once this hit my skin, the cherries were gone and it was entirely anise. I was running out of the house so it had to stay on. It was just licorice for hours and now it's faded down to licorice and something dusty smelling. *sighs* Off to the swap-pile for Kabuki. I need to go in search of another cherry scent.

    Dragon's Hide

I got this as a frimp from the lab in my very first bpal purchase. I had perused the line, but decided against trying anything because it just sounded too ... spicy, I guess? However, I tried this on and was so pleasantly surprised that I ended up ordering more from the Ars Draconis line. This smells like warm leather on me with a hint of smoky sweetness, like the aftertaste of clove cigarettes. It stays pretty strong on me until about 5 hours where it starts to soften up and becomes a bit powdery almost, but still a pleasant, welcoming smell. I'm so happy that the lab included this imp in my purchase and turned me on to the wonders of Dragon's Blood.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

I wore a combination of Jack and Dragon's Heart today. Very warm and autumn to me. Jack's got the sweet end of it, the pumpkiny, baking cookies smell while Dragon's Heart is more earthy and warm. It's a great combination!

    Thalia

Plumeria, pear and white champagne. I bought this one in a 5ml bottle without smelling it or reading any reviews. I did a search on pear and this popped up. I figured it was worth a shot and stuck it in my CN order. I got the order yesterday and immediately took a deep sniff of this... In the bottle: Flowery with a hint of something fruity. Not really pear, more like white grapes. Wet on the skin: Oh man, this is so *pretty*. A hint of floral, nowhere near what I had expected, with strong pear scents and almost a peach smell as well. Half hour later: Dried to a very crisp, bright fruit scent with a background of flowers. A couple of hours later: I can't stop sniffing my wrists. It's dried into a faint scent that I catch a whiff of every so often. It makes me smile happily. 6 hours later: Still going strong. I'm surprised this has such staying power. It's a faint, soft floral with fruit undertones. This hasn't gone powdery on me at all which usually happens with floral fragrances, even Beth's. I am *so* glad that I got this in a 5ml. It's definitely in my top 5 without fail. I really hope this one sticks around because I will definitely be refilling this one when my bottle runs low.
