    Nocnitsa

Her scent is that of a lightless fir wood, nighttime air, wet forest mosses and upturned earth. This imp is aged. In the bottle: The most amazing and sweet fir forest comes out to greet me. On my skin: Sweet wet moss! Slightly bitter fir! Sweet nighttime air! And a couple of minutes after... Earth! This scent is nice, although I suspect it would have been sharper when it was new; at this age most of the green sharpness and bite are gone and what remains is the mellow sweetness of it. I am right.. In about half an hour or so it has morphed to a sweet scent that I associate with the lab's berry notes, all greenery gone. Drydown: Sweet, sweet berries. I think my initial assumption was right. I wish I could have ried this oil when it was still young and fresh. I think it would have been amazing.

    Whip

Agony and ecstasy: black leather and damp red rose. This imp is of unknown age ( and probably quite aged). In the bottle: ..Doctor's office? Wait, there is some rose in the background. On my skin: Fresh spring rose! It really smells like fresh real rose from the garden. There is, a couple of minutes in, another note as well, which smells old? Gronding it, must be the leather. It doesn't really smell like leather to me however, more like a cabinet with fresh roses. It is slowly turning (20 mins in? maybe? ) into a wet smell of undecipherable components. Yes it has roses and I am guessing the other note is leather but it just smells like .. wet, reminding me of an actual whip. I can't explain it very well. It still reminds me of something old too, though. Drydown: Something old that I'd find at my grandmother's house?

    Dee

Gave a different imp of Dee a go, since last time it didn't go so well. This imp is of unknown age. In the bottle: Parchment? Tonka? Leather? Whatever it is it smells like a pleasant cologne and it is fresh and delightful. On my skin: Fresh pleasant cologne! I think it is mostly the tonka, or the rosewood. I think I can tell the soft woods in the background but for some reason it smells like a papyrus should smell to me ( not that I've ever smelled one..). A couple of minutes later the soft leather emerges and boy, is it soft and comfortable. I feel like rubbing myself against it. Drydown: It reminds me of my father, clean shaven and wearing his leather jacket. It is a masculine fresh scent, yet at the same time comforting. <3 Verdict: Aging is kind to him. Note to self: Wear when mature.

    Greed

This imp is aged (and gifted, so I am not sure of its exact age). In the bottle: My god this is amazing. It is like smelling the sun in a mossy field. On my skin: Old patchouli decides to come to the fore, but the copal/moss mix is still standing its ground. This patchouli hasn't aged too well because I am getting hints of rotten wood in it, but it works out for now. The amazing golden/yellow scent that I think is the copal is breathtaking in this. The bad side of the aged patchouli also seems to subside after a couple of minutes so only 5 minutes in or less it is an amazing glorious scent of copal, hints of moss entwined with it and I can barely make out the patchouli. After a further few minutes I can feel a mature wood note that comes from the patchouli but this time blends in well instead of being jarring. Drydown: Copal and moss, the best of both. This scent is gold as a colour, make no mistake, and greed as a name suits it well.

    Highwayman

This imp was gifted to me, so I am not sure of its age. In the bottle: Vetiver and leather. On my skin: Vetiver to the fore! It is clouded in leather though and not rogue by itself, like it usually goes. A few minutes in I can smell the vetiver growing in power, shedding the spiciness that kept him before. It has been about half an hour or more and I get a vague hint of spiciness that I think must come from the cinnamon. I can't make out the cinnamon, but I know that spicy feeling if that makes sense. Drydown: Spiciness that must come from the cinnamon and I think a dash of gardenia.

    Faunalia

2013 version. In the bottle: Musky forest! Forest in a church? Church in a forest? On my skin: A citrusy note hat reminds me of lemon is the first to spring up but calms down immediately, enough to reveal some musk and green underneath. I have no idea what any of the notes smell like except musk ( and a generic forest), so I'll be using impressions. I think it is the musk that is wild right now, almost to a leather degree, reminding me of either coyote or casanova ( or both). There is also a sweet resinous note in the background as well as a very faint soft powdery one. About half an hour late it calms down to this musky/slightly smoky/resinous scent that reminds me of the church alone rather than the forest. I don't think I ever got the starlit forest either except in the bottle. Either it is too subtle or too dark and blends in with the resin. Drydown: The very first fresh/citrusy note.

    Horror Unthinkable and Unexpected

In the bottle: Vetiver! And some acccmpanying nutty pleasantness. On my skin: More vetiver! I have come to like and appreciate this alcaline scent. A couple of minutes later I spot a lemony note trying to come out. Neroli maybe? Drydown: Vetiver. :/ It is almost like a single note, I didn't get any of the other lovelies which is a pity because I love oakmoss and myrrh.

    Autumn Fancies

My imp is empty. D: I don't know what happened but... this is sad. Let's try it with the remaining fumes then. In the bottle: Amber with soft dry grass. On my skin: More of the same at the beginning. It is pleasant and nostalgic. Drydown: Same as above. I think the little fume that was left in the bottle was just the dried down form of the scent so I didn't get to experience any of the other stages. Damn, it was so pleasant too.

    Black Ice

Black Ice 2013. In the bottle: Icy vetiver. On my skin: Icy vetiver! I think the icy part is supposed to be the sleet, or the wind ( or maybe both). 2 minutes later: Smoky asphalt! I have a burned tire! Kidding, it's just a hint, but it is not as bad as I thought it might - it actually blends well with the vetiver. Another few minutes later, this scent also evolves into a scent I can't quite explain that reminds me a lot of what Death-fires dancing over tombs morphed into. Is this the vetiver being quirky or something in the sleet? I can't explain. Drydown: Same as death-fires, this scent I can not explain.

    Death-Fires Dancing Over the Tombs

In the bottle: Stone and ice! The ice is minty. On my skin: A very sharp, refreshing scent. The minty iciness is very well done and I can feel a bit of stone underneath in a note that resembles dirt, but not quite. I like the freshness of it, though I am not getting any unholy fires yet. There is an amazing heavier/spicier scent underneath that comes out after a few minutes, but I can't for the life of me describe it or what it smells like. I can only say it reminds me of some specific mini soaps a friend of mine had in her house when I was little. Drydown: This scent that I can't describe, but in all its mellowed glory. It doesn't smell like an unholy fire to me at all, but the result is lovely.

    Krampus

Krampus 2013. In the bottle: Amazingly lovely red musk. On my skin: Red musk! It is bold and quite pleasant in my nose. All this time I thought it reminded me of some church cologne with a lemony hint.. Now I know that it was red musk I was smelling at. It takes a few minutes to mellow down to a comfortable level where it waves hi instead of screaming "RED MUSK" in my face. Drydown: Pure red musk. It was like smelling a single note, I never got a whiff of anything else. It is pleasant, but I expected something more.

    Snow White

I also have "go to sleep little darlings" from this year's yules and I tried it about a week ago. Some reviews said these two were similar so I am curious about it now. Let's see... In the bottle: Yup, they are right. These two smell remarkably similar in the bottle. On my skin: Something happens! A heavier, sweeter scent comes down which I find hard to describe. Something like cozy brown leather/plastic/a hint of something alcaline. It is like the scent couldn't describe in go to sleep little darlings but heavier and amplified. I think it is supposed to be the snow and/or crispy wind scent. I think I smell some faint coconut too. Drydown: The snow/wind scent, much like "go to sleep...", without the sugary veil.
  13. KakashiMorph

    Go to Sleep, Darlings

In the bottle: Something very light and slightly sugary. I think I can smell coconut but there is definitely a winter association. On my skin: Some flower! I don't know what it is but right now it reminds me of casanova. Maybe it's lavender? There is also a very soft cotton-candy feeling sugar scent. I don't get any snow right now. I think I can make out some very faint coconut on my skin now as well but I am very hesitant about it. In a couple of minutes it changes again to a sweeter mellower scent that still has some sugar veil on top of it and otherwise reminds me of a car freshener scent my dad used a long time ago. It really is hard to describe, but it has a similar feeling to the berries in Ondurdis, if that makes sense (better though, because of the sugar goodness). If I had to associate it with an object, I would choose pink cotton candy. Drydown: As more time passes it loses the lightness and slowly turns to a sweet cozy scent with the note I described above and something that feels like well worn brown leather (or perhaps suede) in a very lighter tone, with a faint sprinkle of sugar dust to top it all up. It is comforting, slightly sweet and relaxing.

    Gingerbread Satyr

Gingerbread with red musk, brown musk, civet and ambergris accord, Ceylon cinnamon, black cedar, black moss, and pine tar. In the bottle: Gingerbread. It's like Shub Niggurath omnomnom. On my skin: More gingerbread! Honey, is that you? I don't get any of the greens or musks yet. Some minutes later.. Musk! I smell the red musk while I can't smell the gingerbread at all. That's quite a change. I still get no greens. Drydown: Red musk. Where are the greens?

    The Visionary

In the bottle: I am getting the impression of iced something so I am guessing it is the peat. On my skin:Mmmusks! The red musk with the iced thing again make a wonderful combination. I don't know what heather smells like but I am not picking up any hearth wood yet. A few minutes later it hasn't changed much and I perceive it as a lovely fresh winter scent with the red musk giving it a cozy warmth. Half an hour later, I think it is the peat or the heather but I get a refreshing lemony scent. Drydown: Fresh lemony scent.

    Gingerbread Zombi

Yay, I finally got my hands on some Yule imps; I can begin the testing now! In the bottle: Gingerbread! And maybe some dirt! I want to eat this gingerbread even if it fell on the dirt. On my skin: Gingerbread galore, woohoo. Now I want to eat some. :| The cinnamon in it is lovely and amazing and there is a faint hint of dirt trying to come through. Half an hour later or so I can also smell a bit of the moss, sweetening things up from the rough spicy scent of gingerbread and dirt. Gingerbread zombi is a combination that works in all its aspects so far. The only downside is that it has made me hungry for some real gingerbread. Another quarter of the hour later or so, the gingerbread finally decides to go to the back leaving the hardy moss in its place as the dominant scent. Drydown: Sweet, very mellowed down cinnamony gingerbread with moss. Just lovely. <3

    Shattered

In the bottle: Cough syrup? I think I smell the grapefruit and mint, but altogether it is a somehow sweet and fresh smell that reminds me of cough/fever syrup. On my skin: Champagne, hello. Barely there just keeping it fresh mint hello ( I get the effect of mint on my nose but I can't smell it itself, so there). The grapefruit or the aquatics ( I think the aquatics) are the other thing I can pick up and it blends well. This is so refreshing! After a few minutes the initial mint zing mellows down however and I can now make out the grapefruit with the aquatics mostly. It smells fresh and light and would probably be best worn during the summer. Drydown: Fresh aquatics.

    Darkness

In the bottle: Johnson's and Johnson's indeed! Someone is not playing nice and I'm guessing it's the narcissus. On my skin: Mmmmm the opium comes up in a rush to catch up with bad baby wipes. I can't smell the myrrh right now and I think there is a hint of vetiver? Or is that just the opium playing tricks on me? Probably the opium. In a couple of minutes I can't smell the stupid baby wipes anymore, so I am waiting to see how it unfolds and if I'll get to smell any of my beloved myrrh as well. Another couple of minutes later however, the baby wipes are back. This makes me sad. It's been about... half an hour now? The scent attempts to morph from baby wipes to something cloyingly sweet but it can't get there quite yet. I hope it will. One hour later or so, I have managed to get rid of the wipes completely. I can finally smell pure, dark opium, like in event horizon, although it is also darkened by something else. I can't smell narcissus or myrrh, so I don't know what. There is a hint of smokiness which is, I believe, the lingering myrrh that I didn't get to otherwise notice at all. Drydown: Faint opium, but what a ride it was to get there.

    Placophobia

I love 13 hours and I love the lab's moss so I bought a bottle of this without any imp sniffing first. In the bottle: My beloved moss! It's back again! There is also a dirty note to it which must be the wet stone. I love it already. On my skin: From the very first seconds the moss takes me away on an amazing ride. The dirty rock lies hidden underneath but I am perfectly fine with that. I will just wait to see when it comes out to play. Even a few minutes later the stone doesn't really kick in. Drydown: Moss. But I love moss so that is nice.

    Nephilim

This imp is aged. Also my nose is runny so my sense of smell is somehow diluted. In the bottle: Mmm vetiver green. So, vetiver and cypress, maybe? On my skin: The vetiver immediately comes out to play, strong but rounded. After a minute or so I detect something sweet coming to bubble in the surface that reminds me of berries. Drydown: Hints of vetiver, I think, but mostly berries. Are we sure there are no raspberries in this?

    Jezirat Al Tennyn

This imp is aged. In the bottle: It's my favorite moss!!! And something sweet underneath. It reminds me of ruins, but it must be the moss. And then I accidentally drop in on the desk. I hope it will behave because half of it is in my room's atmosphere now. On my skin: Moss and ...mint? How refreshing! About 10 minutes later the refreshing part subsides and I can now smell the moss more clearly. I have gotten no fire at all so far but I think the minty refreshing part was supposed to be the wind - it might be because my imp is aged though and they are better distinguishable in a fresh batch. I should really stop aging my imps before trying them.. >> Drydown: An hour later I don't get any of the initial notes. Now I get a very faint burning/smoky (incense-y) whiff which must be the fire. Two hours later I only get a vague hint of the pleasant smokiness which is also somehow sweet. I don't know how to describe it except nice.

    Redoul Honey

This imp is aged. In the bottle: Omnomnomnom blackberries! And a honey sweetness! <3 On my skin: The berries are luscious and decadent and the sweet, sweet honey helps boost their fragrance, although it seems to be more dominant in the initial stage than the berries themselves. After a couple of minutes the two blend together in a very delicious foody scent. I also think the berries are red now( raspberries). Ten minutes later, the honey is more prominent again. Drydown: Honeyed berries, very faint.

    Aperotos Eros

This is an aged imp. In the bottle: Spicy and musky and delicious. We're off to a good start! On my skin: Wet wood that is about to start rotting combined with spiciness. I think it's the benzoin that gives the about-to-rot note (not sure what it smells like)? It is certainly one of the resins, I just don't know which one (because I don't know what they smell like). It is pleasant though. I think I can smell some of the bark in the background too. I am not getting any bergamot at all and even though I can smell wooden notes, I can't spot the fir either ( and I know what it smells like). It smells like resinous wood at the moment which is quite pleasing to me. After a few minutes the wooden notes pull slightly back and I am left with a glorious wooden resin scent . Drydown: Resin. Not sure if it's the benzoin or the galbanum ( or a combination of both) but it's nice and resinous.

    Wolfsbane

This imp is aged. In the bottle: The woods are lovely, dark and deep... On my skin: But I have promises to keep.. So, the cedar comes first out to play, accompanied by something that smells like pleasant wood trimmings ( I like the smell of freshly cut wood anyway). I can also smell a hint of vetiver in the background, the sweet alkalinity gently holding the cedar. It's very green, very woody, very pleasant (if you like green scents anyway). It quickly fades away however ( I am guessing because the imp is aged) and leaves a sweet note behind that I can't quite put my finger to. It's like pleasant wood trimmings with something creamy, mostly the creamy note though. Drydown: The same creamy note. It faded fairly quickly though, which is a shame. I think it it had been younger, the cedar would have lasted longer and perhaps the whole throw. I think I should test my imps before aging them!
  25. KakashiMorph

    Blood Kiss

This imp is aged, but I am not sure exactly how old. In the bottle: Cherries! Lustful red cherries sweetened by honey and some vetiver. I want to sink my teeth in it. This is what a luscious vampire should smell like! On my skin: Wanton cherries that are sweetened; while the vetiver gives a lighter note to it, it is sinfully dark. Now I want to sink my teeth on my wrists. There must be honey, clove and musk in there but I am too busy trying to sniff my wrists off to smell them. I can also smell the wine ( I love the lab's wine note!) but it is very faint. A few minutes later the wine comes out to play as well, which makes me even more frisky. Drydown: Not exactly dry yet, but about an hour later I can smell the dark, sweet cherries ( I think they are sweetened by honey) and some wine.. There is also something dark and sensual and raw in the background which might be the clove. And I still am too busy trying to sniff my wrists off in order to try and discern more notes! If it dries completely like this, it will go on the "want a bottle" list. Total drydown update: Cherries and the dark, raw, sensual background scent. I think I now what it is: an incense-like impression of clove with a hint of musk. I am in love.
