    The Perilous Parlor

In imp and wet it's pear with a touch of vanilla. As this cools, it flip flops so vanilla is dominant and the pear is much softer. There's a bit of that dusty ruddy smell too. Mmmm... <3

    Hecate

This is very calming and clean on me. I don't tend towards linen smells (toooo clean unless we're talking Winding sheet). This does have a bit of powder + floral essence to it. I can't deny that. However it's almost like almond flowers...? Hecate is the limit of "clean" in my book. I love it!

    Al Azif

This does have a sweet buttery element to it. However I'm surprised to see that the majority did not pull arabian musk out of the mix? That seems to be what I smell the most in imp and wet. After it burned off a bit, I smelled some spice too.

    Blood Countess

Hmm In imp and first wet, this is strong floral fruit. Think the density of rose flavored turkish delight> add a fruit roll up around it and eat. Interesting morpher the way the sweetness subsides, rose dominates for a millisecond and then the lilac comes out and sweetens. The process struck me with a fear that the rose would take over and kill it. This didn't happen and the end product is beautiful.

    Megaera

This works wonderfully on me. In imp and first applied, this does sparkle a bit because the fruit is quite strong. It of course mellowed after a few minutes and the bergamont came out strongly. The orris root isn't powdery. I think the bergamont is balancing that. Amber is warming each element and allowing them to get along. Drydown: the juicy fruit has burned off (thankfully) and the end product is a sweet syrupy amber and orris mix. Pretty much what you would expect, reading the description.

    Lurid

I kind a didn't know what to expect with this one and like others I'm still baffled by it! Currant lavender and ozone are what hit me upfront..it's strange, murky, stimulating and relaxing. Ugh! Uhm. can't compute. Confused. But I like it!

    Snake Oil

On first whiff I said.. this is what all the hype is about? Uh oh.. is my nose broken from too many tests? The in imp and wet part scared me because I have a history of not getting along with the lab's vanilla. I think my skin makes enough vanilla stink on it's own and when provided competition from an outside source, sprays the intruder like a skunk. Anyways, it mellowed down and became a lovely spicy vanilla concoction. It's growing on me... Uh oh.. I guess now I'll be dreaming of aged bottles like the majority of bpal'ers now.

Purpley is right! Right out of the imp you can smell this one coming.. Strong throw! This is morgause's brazen sister!

    Josie

Josie is a show stopper and really makes me curious about all the other District girls... Don't plan on layering this one! There's a nice duality about the magnolia and peaches but I can't smell anything else I've tested today.. that's fine with me. I stink good. I guess that's an ideal quality /attractive for a uuhh "woman of the night"? the magnolia balances any possible jolly rancher squelch from the peaches. This is my new "man trap" scent! hahahah

    Hunger

As soon as I applied this it was instantaneous love. I found the way to wear bpal vanilla! The key to the lock has been found! This mellows to a mouth watering amber on my skin. Very inviting and not suffocatingly sweet by any means. Thanks to BuxomM for sending this to me!

    Bayou

This scent doesn't pull any tricks. Exactly how it's described. Slightly salty however? Kinda calico jack-ish aquatic. I've been trying to break out of my scent constraints (aka violet, aquatics, and rose hatred therapy). I can't decide if Bayou is my boundary or if I can't stick with it. This may go up for swaps but I want to see how it goes wearing this in slightly warmer weather...

    Hollywood Babylon

This is growing on me in a sick twisted big girl that likes to dress up in babydoll dresses way. I can't really say I like the initial burst of strawberry and cherry, but as I hang in there these mellow. The throw is pretty small so I had to reapply a few times to really get it to stick. But whoa when it did I smell frikkin goooood. Funny, the previous description of strawberry shortcake dolls in a new age shop... that's exactly what I like about it!

    Seraglio

Similar to the previous poster, this gives me an astringent cleaner smell. The almond is not working with the rose, on my skin. My first impression was a hairspray or styling mould that I can't place. The rose has a dreaded tea rose essence for me. This will unfortunately need to go up for swappings.

    Regan

Frimp from the lab.. thanks! This is a very floaty head in the clouds summertime scent for me. I'll also be reserving it for those rare grouchy winter days (can't be too at odds with cold weather if you choose to live in Maine..hahaha) has a purity/innocence about it. Like Alice had a sister from Hawaii. the orchid vanille is light and soft. I don't remember what stephanotis smells like but I remember buying it for people when they were in a bad mood! Sure it's adding a fresher floral essence to this. Not bad!

    Hellcat

I can say that this has great throw, right out of the imp. Has that Eat Me cakey smell. Up close there's actually a glazed orange note when first applied? Could be the booze butterscotch and honey mead mix tricking my nose. This settles down quickly to a yummy viscous sweetness. Kinda like a tame Cockaigne..

    On Darkness

I really like this. Seems pretty perfect for me! This goes on really thick, like I spread corn syrup on my arm. The black poppy and thick black incense gives me that dragons blood feeling. I can't really detect the lavender all that much but I'm sure it's contributing here! Color impression is a thick purple to brownish green. Kinda like an oak moss's fruity floral cousin?

    Perle von Mauren

I wore this Monday with a beautiful vintage piece from the 40's. Man I felt awesome! I was floating around with my head in the clouds all day. My impression of this is sweet flowers drenched in cream then covered in sugar. Like if you ate a sugared pansy with a dollop of buttercream frosting. I can't really say this is a baby powder smell. Just really creamy with a color impression of opaque white or medium soft pink. So, I'm more of an earthy, dirty, honey drenched wonton type of scent person. I'll wear this on days I feel like "playing pious". hahahahaa.. No one would question my character with this wafting around me!

    Sir Hugh Ockram's Winding Sheet

I received this as part of a super generous swappers giftie set. I read the description and was puzzled as to how it would play out.. this isn't bad for a linen scent. Considering I collect vintage clothing, I've become fond of the smell of musty fabric. However this smells better than that. Like if I wore my favorite vintage piece with some elegant perfume and hung it back up without dry-cleaning so I could preserve the memory of when it was last worn. Surprisingly enough, the element that takes forefront on drydown is the hyssop. Enablers! Now I have yet another scent to go hunting for. hahaha Thanks!

    Iambe

I have to say thank you again to the bpal swapper that so generously added a ton of my wishlist scents!! This is another that is perpetually in my queue for next order however always got bumped in favor of something bright and shiny. Now I feel guilty about bumping it so frequently because it really is beautiful. the amber is actually the most prevalent in the imp and first wet. however the rose gardenia and gladiola have enough oomph to push through. this is very beautiful and refreshing. reminds me of mid to late spring. Neither of the 3 flowers dominate. Surprising! The blend gives an appley essence to an untrained nose! Now I'm itching for Maine's wildflower season..come ooonn lupines! Get on it!

    Niflheim

Not as dark, aquatic, and musky as I had anticipated! Ok, confession. this reminds me of when I first started dating this kid and our friend asked us to watch her house while she was off in italy. She's very sweet and loved both of us so was happy to foster our new relationship. We were in the honeymoon phase and got to play house for a couple weeks. She had some products in the house that were identical to this! Hence, this reminds me of PBRs, BBQs, the sound of traffic, the summer breeze wafting through the house, frequent refreshing showers with something of the same scent as this, and new love! Oh and motor oil and bicycles. hahahahaa

    Calico Jack

I'm holding back from making pirate jokes. Those should only be tossed around on act like a pirate day. This is reminiscent of a gautilier scent..bay rum, salt spray, kelp. yes it's there! Mmmmmemmmoriesssss... Does it make me want to run down the street to the ocean with high waters and a stripey shirt? Maybe. Am I getting punchy after a long week andwith many bpals ruminating in and pickling my brain? Definitely. This scent is exactly how I would have pictured it, ideally. I feared that the kelp would have been a touch rotten but nope! Nice and seaweed salad grade fresh.

    Shroud

I'm very appreciative to the person that sent me this discon scent! It is like a soft veil of woods and florals. Very light and flowing. I really don't have anything bad to say about it! It's very neutral and not much throw but I think it's great for summer mornings, sipping some iced coffee and getting amped for the day, while your surroundings are still quiet and the air is cool.

    Incantation

When I smelled this in imp and initially wet, it smelled like yummy thai food? Am I nuts? Anyways, warmed up it is definitely dark brown warm deep vetivert. The woods are very strong however this is well balanced. Used in small amounts this could be very facinating on the right person.

    Haunted

Wow. very impressed by the simplicity.. yet how alluring it smells to me! The combination strikes me as nutty, warm, and soporific. Very strong bursts of musk when wet and in imp, however like another poster stated, this becomes golden on drydown.

    The Isles of Demons

Has the lab's signature tropical lily smell and deep equatorial woods and smell. I can see why this might get overlooked as the description is a little cryptic and doesn't really elude to how lovely it really is. This is sensual and intoxicating! Sugar Sweet, floral and lush green without being sharp.
