  1. You definitely need a little mister bottle of STFU to spray around the office. As I was reading your description of her, I couldn't help thinking of that Toby character from Seinfeld who worked with Elaine and laughed like a hyena and everyone felt sorry for her when her pinky toe got cut off and she ended up getting the promotion Elaine wanted.

ETA: Oh yeah, is she by chance the revolting co-worker who talks while she's eating and sprays bits of food all over the place?

 A few years ago, a lobbyist called me up and asked me how I could stand to work with "her." He also said she was like a character on Seinfeld and that she was entirely over the top, all the time.

And yes, she is the smacker who sprays food. One of my friends told me he observed her smacking her lips the other day, and she wasn't even eating. :D

This week she has been obsessing that she needs to get a pedicure before she goes on vacation. Everyone has been harassing me to suggest to her that she needs to get a French pedicure, because she'll be on vacation and I won't have to see it. :rantrave:

  2. I know a guy who inherited his father's collection of license plates. His dad collected for many years, and had A LOT of plates from every state and countries around the world. My friend has a display in his office of his favorite plate from each state (some are very vintage) and several favorites from other countries. They are way cool.

  3. Amen to your comment about Lieberman. He sounds like a bitter, whiny old poopy-pants today.

ETA: Has anyone seen ShriekingViolet's new avatar? It's great! :rantrave:

That's too bad that Rusty's candidate lost -- whenever I worked on a campaign for a losing candidate, I always referred to it as working on yet another "noble losing effort." And heck, being involved very directly in the democratic process is always a good, almost exhilarating thing.

Finally, believe it or not, since I'm such a fussy thing about feet, but I think the idea of a little flower painted on the big toenail is cute and festive. It's eye-catching in a sassy sort of way, and I enjoy that.

  4. :rantrave: Dawndie, I think you have it! Now whenever I see some sort of toenail painting atrocity, I'm going to start out by saying ARGH BLARGH! That is probably what Andy was yelling about at the end of "Ocean's 11" and we didn't understand that it was the official Cuban protest that someone has French manicured, and not Cuban manicured nails!

(BTW, Antimony -- I love Cuban manicured fingernails. They are very retro and exotic. I even like French manicured fingernails, but they aren't as hot and Latin.)

  5. :shakes head:

I'm sorry.... I .... was going to post something about.... um, toenails? And maybe polish? Or... something?

But I keep getting mental flashes of hairy, incredibly tanned middle aged Italian men in Speedoes... and then my brain shuts down.

The only thing that would be more catatonia-inducing is an incredibly tanned, middle-aged man in a Speedo, and he has :rantrave: French manicured toenails.

  6. Blue-tipped toenails sound more revolting than the speedo. :rantrave: I saw a guy the other day with nasty, chipped dark blue metallic sort of polish on his toenails. At first I thought it was some sort of toenail necrosis or something and when I realized it was polish, I was like wtf? because it was so hideous.

"Toenail necrosis" might be a helluva name for a blue-black nail polish color!

  7. I've wondered that about Austin City Limits myself -- most of the time it's 2 acts, but are they taped one after the other?

Ooh, your order sounds good. Oh! And did you see the description for Les Bijoux: skin musk and honey? As in: SMUT-O-RAMA???

I always gotten the impression that each act was filmed on a different day, with a different auidence, but I can't imagine that audience for Jamie was there just to see him, because they weren't young enough or funky enough and them seemed to be sitting in a mute stupor. Who can hold still to his rave version of "I Could Have Danced All Night?" That song would seem to be the antidote to torpor, but not with that crowd -- the producers needed to check for pulses!

I did see Le Bijoux, and since that's a GC scent, I'm going to try an imp before I consider a bottle, because the rose and apple worry me a bit. I amp those two scents like crazy, and I'm way cautious about them. Of the ones that I ordered, the one that immediately struck me as a must-have was Cockaige -- milk, honey, sweet cakes and wine. Love all those scents! A bit like the Monster Baits, it seemed. And I love the wine in Urd and Wanda, and I'm intrigued by how it will smell with the sweetness and milk. I wonder if the wine in this will be red wine or white wine? I can hardly wait! Woo-hoo, I better stop talking about that scent, I'm going to work myself into a lather and need a cold shower!!! :rantrave:

  8. There's a lot of things in the world to complain about besides the price of perfume, especially when a great little company like BPAL had such a difficult time with moving and relocation. I'm simply greatful that they're still in business, much less cranking out such wonderful updates. I just don't understand what's wrong with some people, and I'm staying away from that thread because I'd probably want to post some cranky old lady rant about all the ungreatful bitching going on about price increases!

But my response was to go in and order three bottles from the update right away, and happily pay the new prices!

  9. Dawndie, I remember that show! I also remember one tiny little scene in another show, where Jim ran into a vending machine, looked at it in astonishment, and said: "Oh, I'm here..."

And Gracie, don't apologize for not commenting very often, for usually by the time I'm done writing, even I think it's too odd for comment. (Is it any wonder I adored Reverend Jim??)

And now, in a non sequitur, a rerun of "Law and Order: SVU" is on, and damn, I love Ice-T.

  10. I have a good friend who felt the same way about her dad. I say "felt," because her dad died a couple of years ago. What I used to say to her, and it's applicable to you, is that it's terrible that a when a father causes such anguish in a child's life. And that they (the fathers) are too stupid or blind to realize that they have a really great daughter and they're missing out on a lot.

But even with all the words in the world, it still stinks to have a parent like that. to you.

  11. A friend of mine works in a flower shop and I swear she once told me that they call that nasty funky vase water "weenus" or something that more or less sounded like that.

ETA: mullet bait=old milwaukee beer+any britney spears or jessica simpson fragrance

Update on the Panties on Fire blend: Underpants takes over Bengal after 6 hours!

Moral of the story: Never underestimate the power of a good pair of undies!

  12. "Mullet-Bait"? :)

    :) I think I need a combo that would be "Mullet-Repellent!"

If I picked the two scents that really didn't work on me at all, and layered them, it would be "Sacred Whore of Babylon" and "Paris." So when I ran into mullets, I would become the "Scared Whore of Paree" and the mullets would run from the stale, murky flower pot water smell!

BTW, I meant to type "Scared" and not "Sacred" in that last fragrance combo, because it would, in fact, be a really scary combination!
