Absolutely gorgeous. Bright floral sandalwood that has my wrist glued to my nose. I've really loved the various iterations of sandalwood incense perfumes (such as Challenge of the Ascetic and Mystery of the Giant Testicles on a Brothel Visitor), they all manage to be quite different. This one is the bright beautiful one of the bunch. Showy but still elegant. I don't know how to describe it, but I'm glad I was able to find a secondhand bottle, and hope it comes back in stock soon.

Dead Leaves, Marshmallow, and Pistachio Cream

This one is very good. Mostly soft sweetness and pistachio cream with a hint of something bringing it into more sophisticated territory. The Dead Leaves note here is thankfully not the bell pepper one that I get from many other leaf blends. The downside is that the throw is very low on me. It seems to last well but is so quiet (and also not really the type of scent that I usually reach for) that I'm debating whether I need more than my decant.

    Rose-Tinted Mirror

Rose is one of the notes I usually do not like (violet too). I took a chance on this one anyways because of the description. No regrets. It is rose, but it is gentle and sweet honeyed rose. It's beautiful and comforting.

Smells to Work Out To - 30 Day Challenge

I've had a few workouts over the past few weeks but didn't check in! despite that, I appreciate all of you. @Madame Mew for the kind words the last time I posted and giving me hope that this lingering injury can be addressed, @Amazonia for checking in on how things are, @VetchVesper for starting this thread and encouraging everyone, and all of the rest of you, working out and enjoying BPAL! Yesterday I did a 3 mile run for the first time in two weeks and it felt good to get out there, and my BPAL of choice was Destructive Vagina of the Fox Spirit, which I am obsessed with since obtaining one from my BPAL fairy godmother. It isn't really a coffee scent other than at the start but more of a resiny oudh scent. Nag Champa is often too sharp for me but here the scent is so smooth and so beautiful. The oudh reminds me of Unicorn and Ram, which I adore, but with more oomph, more sharpness, but not in a bad way. What can I say, it's intoxicating.

    The Choirs of Angels

I don't know how to describe this except in terms of feel. It's golden, softly sweet, and ethereal. I can't really pick out the lavender and the bergamot and neroli are simply adding to the warmth and depth. It's a stunningly beautiful scent.

    Arlecchina

Sadly, this one didn't work for me, as it reminds me too strongly of grape juice. There is some leather lurking there and other notes that might deepen this and make it into something beautiful for others, I just can't break the grape juice association.

    Lan Yueliang

This is beautiful. And despite the notes, it ends up being a "deep" scent to me rather than a high-pitched one. It's sophisticated and deep and a little mysterious. Maybe more unisex than feminine. I dig it.

    Thrills and Junk Food

I get the notes exactly as described. A blast of fruit punch, blue cotton candy, and then salty pretzels. I like it, but salt has started amping on my skin (including in blends that used to work well, so it's not just this or recent salt notes), which means no bottle upgrade for me, but if these notes are happy notes for you, I would recommend!

    Velut Luna Statu Variabilis

I loved the initial wet stage of spicy carnation with something extra - deep and sophisticated, but the blend quickly morphed into a cousin of Red Benzoin, Ylang Ylang, and Tobacco, which just didn't work on me. Something about the Red Benzoin or Ylang ylang, or combo thereof, went sharp and slightly bitter and hurt my nose. The same qualities are here (along with those same notes), and a little extra indole. Sadly, not for me, even though my eyes lit up when I first applied. But fans of the Red Benzoin trio should take note!

    Waiting

Okay, something about this called to me and I almost blind bottled, but I downgraded to a decant while agonizing over my must-have list. I should have gone for it, because it is *delicious*. It goes on with an immediate blast of coffee, but doesn't go barnyard the way coffee sometimes does. Then there's pumpkin and spicy gingerbread and slightly doughy (but not too doughy) waffles, except nothing is too much, it all mixes into something positively delectable. After never buying any pumpkin scents, I went and bought a bunch off the secondhand market and felt like I had more pumpkin than I need in my lifetime, but this is one I'm going to be happy to add. The Liliths this year have been out of the world, and this one is another in the must-have list. No chocolate on me, which is good, as chocolate tends to go funky. ETA: I think at the very end of the day the deep drydown has hints of barnyard or bitterness, which is something, for example, Guatemalan Coffee Bean SN did on my skin, but overall it's so well blended and everything harmonizes and it was so worth it. Did not happen the second time though, although I do prefer the initial stages to the deep drydown, it's still good, just faint after a while. ETA2: Waiting is just SO GOOD. It might be the best pumpkin scent I've tried and by that I mean the pumpkin is there but not the star. It's such a perfect blend of coffee, dough, pumpkin, spice, without being too strong or sharp in any direction. Every time I apply it I am amazed.

    The Witch/Strega

This won't be very descriptive, but here's what I'm getting: it's a quiet, skin-close blend. The rose is undetectable to me, which is a good thing, the leather is also behaving very well, the oud is not bathroom cleaner oudh, I think it's mainly the black beeswax I am getting right now after some smoke and leather in the wet stage (not bbq smoke). It reminds me of something.. I think Loved to Death, but without the strong anise note (not sure what it was that came off that way to me as anise is not listed) that really turned me off of LTD. There's a shadow of that anise note here too but it is much less prominent. The jury is still out on this one: I definitely don't dislike it, but I don't know how I feel about it yet either. Will retest!

    Papyrus, Cardamom & Balsam

This is a bit sour on me -- I think the briney note that torikitty mentions. I am a huge fan of cardamom (as in Hay Moon '20) and was curious how this would compare to I Wish I Were Your Mirror, which has some of the same notes. A hint of sadomasochism in Ancient Egypt: lily water, myrrh, and cardamom with southernwood, cassia, white sand, papyrus reeds, and frankincense. I prefer Mirror though, as it has a mild sweet creaminess that isn't present in this trio. Without sweetness, I'm not getting much of the cardamom either here. Will edit if my impressions change, but not an upgrade for me at the moment.

Looking for Beeswax Recommendations That Don't Have Honey

It's new but I'm very excited about Endless Corridors, the new LE from the halloween collection: A flicker of beeswax and candle smoke casting distorted shadows on a blackened panel of vetiver. No official reviews yet but someone posted a good impression in the Weenies thread!

    Breakfast, Or Something

This was just GUAVA when it first arrived, but this time around I'm picking up hints of the cotton candy and a milk/cream note reminiscent of Dies Patribus. It's a very pretty fruity sweet blend.

    Boop

This is one of my favorites from the Liliths I blind bottled, which is saying a lot because I had a great hit rate this year. It's really beautiful. The minute I put it on my eyes rolled back in my head. It's very much a cousin of the Skin Musk, Cream, and Honey Dust trio, but I like this better. There's almost a berry or citrus quality at the start, the lavender is very well-behaved (which has been true of all the Liliths I tried this year), the patchouli is not at all biting or dank (honestly, I don't know where it is in this blend, but I guess white patchouli is very smooth and mild), it all comes together in this beautiful blend that I just can't do justice to, except to say that it's a must-try.

Smells to Work Out To - 30 Day Challenge

@Madame Mew Dragon's Milk is so delightful! I need to wear it more often. Good reminder to try it for a work-out. The hair gloss is so good too. I made it out for a 3-mile run yesterday, wearing my new-to-me Red Amber and Oudh. It was worth the hunt! No barnyard or restroom cleaner oudh in this one, it's a very sparkly blend. Sophisticated, sparkly, sensual, warm. I really love it. Getting back into running has felt great, though my shoulder isn't happy (but I have a new doctor, so we'll see). Hope I can keep it up! Thanks to this thread and all contributors for the inspiration.

    Perfectly Normal Childhood

This is delicious. There's a slightly tangy aspect to this, maybe like a lemon meringue, but not a biting or sharp citrus note. It's just a tangy, yummy vanilla cake batter scent.

Smells to Work Out To - 30 Day Challenge

You all are inspiring! I made it out for another 2 mile run yesterday. Scent of choice was The Mystery of Giant Testicles on a Brothel Visitor. Beeswax, sandalwood incense, ti leaf, roasted nuts, and bamboo. This was a favorite but lately it's going overly salty on my skin (not aging, I only got it a couple months ago and it was good then.. but skin is not acting nicely lately). Hopefully it goes back to being creamy goodness with a hint of salt.

    Mama Gein

This smells far better than I would have imagined (especially given the extra creepy inspiration). A friend sent me a tester or else I wouldn't have tried it, but I'm contemplating a bottle. It smells like a rich, heady, almost intoxicating powder scent with sweetness. No clean soapiness here. Hopefully other reviews can better articulate what this scent is doing, but it's good!

Smells to Work Out To - 30 Day Challenge

My second appearance in this thread! Thank you for all the welcomes the last time I posted! I am trying to get back on the wagon, and made it out for a 2-mile run yesterday, which felt great. The scent I chose to run with was A Demon and Her Unholy Basketball, one of the recent Liliths. Sadly, although it was one of the ones that I was most excited for, it's one of the few misses for me, there is a bitter, almost grainy bread note that gets in the way of my enjoyment. I suspect it's the brimstone note but it could be something to do with pumpkin sugar. But the run was great and I'm hoping to make it a more consistent thing

    Aoede, Melete, Mneme

This is a very buttery cream scent to my nose. It's not overly sweet and I struggle to detect caramel. There's something almost bread-like about the scent, but nothing bitter--maybe like a very rich bread pudding? Someone in the Liliths thread asked how it compares to Underpants. To me, there are some similar elements, but this is lower-pitched and much more foodie/buttery than Underpants. I quite like it though it is more foodie than I would normally go for. It captures the beautiful, deep quality of Lilith's singing that served as the inspiration.

You Get What Anybody Gets-You Get a Lifetime

Well, I'll agree that when wet, it is an awful bathroom cleaner type of smell. Like a public bathroom that smells like it was cleaned but the funk is *just* barely hiding under the industrial strength cleaner or something. I don't get a poop smell, thankfully, but the wet stage is not fun. And that wet stage lasts for about an hour. But when it finally settles on the skin, it becomes this beautiful wood smell, but not a hint of pine or cedar or oak or mahogany. This is a golden wood smell, like the essence of sun and ancient tree. It's not sweet but it's not masculine in a DUDE way, either. I just smell beautiful, but the throw is pretty low, I have to get my nose right against my arm to smell it.. but when I do, I love it. My 5 year old loved the drydown as well. I do not get fig, though maybe it was in the bathroom cleaner mix, but I'm fine with that. I don't get champaca either. All good things. So, oudh.. Despite the scary wet stage, I might need a bottle of this one after all. ETA: I apparently don't know what champaca smells like but I do like it in recent blends, so it may be prominent here after all.

Smells to Work Out To - 30 Day Challenge

Thanks! And I am totally team Hay Moon '20 and totally get wanting to live in it. It's such a beautiful, comforting scent and my favorite release this year (so far). You Get a Lifetime really tests ones limits with the oudh at the start, but I'm definitely going to retest. Despite the wet stage it might be worth a bottle. I also just love the name. Though I'm trying not to hoard things for the sake of hoarding them.. Dreams Shape the World, also part of the Sandman collection, has a beautiful oudhy lavender too that I like and might upgrade for a sleep scent. For workouts I think something like Dorian would be lovely, but I'm constantly testing new things as I buy my way through the pandemic (just BPAL)..

Smells to Work Out To - 30 Day Challenge

All, I am following this exercise and your discussions with much joy, but haven't posted because my capacity to work out right now is very limited. I was, however, inspired by y'all to get on the treadmill and walk a mile on Saturday night. I was wearing an assortment of scents as I do nearly daily, but particularly You Get What Anybody Gets - You Get a Lifetime. Which, by the way, was not very nice for the first hour before settling into something alluringly woody without being pine or cedar. I'll try to post whenever I can get a workout in--currently limited by working too much and a lingering shoulder injury that has flared up pretty badly recently. At the start of the lockdown I was running a lot outside which felt great, but work was slower and my shoulder was less of a problem then. Would like to get back into a regular workout schedule though..

    Mattie Silks

In the bottle and wet it smells like Sprite. Vanilla amber makes itself known, maybe a hint of something salty. I can't find rose (a good thing in my opinion) or leather. I am a little surprised I like this (honestly.. do not even recall getting it, but apparently I did back in the day!), but I don't know that I would reach for it very often. Edited to add: As it dries down even further the fizz dissipates and it becomes a beautiful vanilla amber scent. Really very nice and more my style without the Sprite fizziness.
