When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

I have not! Lightning does sound like it may be the closest. Jolly Roger has the leather and rum, so it might be different in a good way. Thank you!
  2. Discovered a forgotten imp of this tucked away in my writing desk. It is totally a root beer float with french vanilla ice cream. Mmmm. I've probably had this imp for 4 or 5 years, and it has held up well.

    Fae

The peach is nice and light with this. I haven't tried any other scents with oakmoss, so I can't pick that part out. I'm tempted to buy a bottle of Fae, but there are so many other ones I want, too!

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

I have about half a bottle left of Tempest, but would like to know some similar scents. I have an imp of Hurricane, but it isn't one of my favorites - it's like spicy baby powder to me, if that makes sense!

    Black Forest

This really does smell like the woods near my childhood home. There was a very overgrown empty lot with lots of pine and birch trees right next door, and it was the spot for numerous forts. The woodsy scent here brings me back to drizzly days hiding among the trees.

Have there ever been any Bee themed Scents?

This sounds like it would be an amazing scent! I really like the idea of a piney sweetness.

How long do bottles & imps last?

In my experience, it depends. Citrus dominant scents tend to not age well for me. I had a bottle of Kunstkammer I bought fresh from the lab. When I first purchased it, the blood orange note was incredibly strong and then after only a few years it turned into something unrecognizable. I ended up giving it to a friend who liked the way it had aged. I've had similar experiences with scents that include grapefruit. Some really foody scents tend to not age well to my nose as well. My bottle of Sugar Cookie from 2005 became really mild over time. Resins tend to age the best for me. I have bottles of Urd from 2004-2013 and the longer I let them age, the better they get. I definitely agree that the food scents don't hold up well over time. I've placed 2 orders of BPAL, one in 2009 and another in 2011 (yes, I know I am overdue for another order, just waiting on weenies!). All of the scents from both years are still wonderful, with the exception of Bite Me '11. It's a sugary sweet scent, but I opened it last night and just did not like it at all. It almost smelled like rotten fruit, very sickly sweet. If I get other food related scents, I'd better use them up fast!

    Incantation

Incantation was the first bottle of BPAL I bought! It will always be a favorite. The scent is woodsy, but also has some florals. It's like stumbling upon a patch of wildflowers in the forest after a brief rainshower.

    Calico Jack

I enjoyed this in the imp, it has a woodsy saltiness that is right in line with pirates. I actually like to wear it when I read books with a nautical theme; it seems like I'm in the book!

    Follow Me Boy

All I get from this one is baby powder! It is my least favorite scent. My husband was not a big fan either, he prefers lighter scents.

    The Lady of Shalott

I'm going to be getting a bottle of this one soon! Gardenia is one of my favorite scents.

    Tempest

I really love this one, so I'm sad to see it discontinued. Luckily, I still have quite a bit in my bottle. It's just a fresh, stormy scent.

    Embalming Fluid

I'm really thinking about trying this one. I love lemony scents, so it's probably right up my alley. An imp is probably the way to go, just in case it doesn't work on me.

    Samhain

I got this one in '12, along with Punkie Night & Autumn Coolness. This is my least favorite of the three, something is just too strong for me - maybe the patchouli? I've been out of the BPAL loop for a little while, but I'm looking forward to the upcoming Weenies!

    Autumn Coolness

I put this one on today, since September is finally here, and remembered how much I like it. The scent just seems like I've opened the door to an early fall morning. It's almost like I can smell light filtering through the trees!
