    Goblin

Very creamy coconut patchouli. I not at all a harsh/bitter patchouli - more of a loamy, fresh earth and woods scent. Goblin is so smooth. It's really good. There is a spicy incense note in the background and I think some vanilla as well. This would be a good intro blend for the Patchouli-curious. It also wears really well through out the day.

    The Chilling Cellar

I am convinced there is amber in here somewhere. I get a soft powdery tinge to it every now and then. The top notes are dry aged oak wine barrels. If you have ever been on a winery tour and remember the smell of the big, cold room where they have stacks and stacks of wine filled oak barrels you know what I am talking about. There is also a subtle earthyness. I really like it. If you are worried about the sour wine note it is barely there. This is one of those scents that reminds me how much I love Beth and Bpal. It IS a chilling cellar, I just don't know how Beth does it - amazing.

    The Twisted Oak Tree

So many things going on with this - and it is one of those super well blended releases that makes it hard to pin notes down. Ivy, wet ivy. A whiff of burning/charred wood, green moss, and the perfume of the forest at night. Another amazing creation.

    Crypt Queen

Incense, dusky red fruits, dry ceder. Deliciousness in a bottle. It reminds me of the love child of Mme Moriarty and Monster Bait: Ventriloquist Dummy. Thankfully on me the rose is expressed as duskyness and not pure evil. It blends well with the other florals for more of a antique floral feeling instead of a crazy cat ladies front parlor with dried roses and hairballs. I don't get as much of a fruit feel as some others are reporting and am amping a distinct ceder note - which is probably why the florals are working so well on me. Love it!

You and me both! I wanna see Crypt Queen and her coffin the bottle in the crypt on the trading post site says Crypt Queen. Wouldn't it just be the same bottle?

Gee, I guess I will have to reorder LOL - clearly I have to have a set with new labels. Seconded! I hope we get to see more of her work on future releases. Or that all the work she has done ends up as a blend. Want. More. Good. Omens.

    Thirteen (13): July 2007

Wet - creamy chocolate and an almost boozy fruit note On - easily my favorite of the 13 releases. The chocolate gives way to a spicyness that I am guessing is the ginger, or maybe ginger and clove working together, and a sweet, honeyed fruit note. What I get is an almost weet incense blend that smells wonderful on me. The only downside is that after about an hour and a half it is mostly faded. Will have to try slathering it on and see if that helps it last longer.

    Frumious Bandersnatch

Wet it smells like plums and gunpowder. That metallic tang that smells like it could explode at any minute. But that is only when wet. As it dries down the spicyiness of the carnations come out so that it is a delicious combo of plums and spice. yummy

    Ah'Duno

First off - big thanks to the generosity of Beth and Evon for giving me a chance to try this one. Thanks ladies! This is fun - a floral cinnamon. heehee. Oops! There is also something almost smokey - like bbq smokey - in there. For whatever reason it reminds me of being at a baseball game.

Is it bad that I am actually excited by the idea of having to buy the entire snake pit again just for the new label art?

    Minotaur

A very dark, sexy, scent with an almost Victorian feel to it. I'm picturing a library with a roaring fire, shelves of dark wood lined with books, smoking jackets and brandy snifters. It's that kind of scent. The resins here are gorgeous, and there is a sort of nutty/sarsaparilla thing going on.

    Monster Bait: Ventriloquist Dummy

Caramel covered pencil shavings - yes it does smell as odd as that sounds. I guess I am a total moron for thinking that a blend named after a creepy wooden puppet would smell like anything other than - oh - wood. Dur. For the record ventriloquists dummy's freak me out - and so does this monsterbait. Oh well, can't win them all. It goes on as slightly sweetend wood shavings and pretty much stays there, not a lot of morphing going on. Though there is something to be said for the caramel factor - if it was just a tad sweeter on me I think it would work.

    Monster Bait: Bloody Mary

This is hard for me to wrap my head around as it reminds me of *something* I just can't remember what! Tart, deep red cherries with a hint of liquor drizzled over a perfectly delicious fluffy vanilla cake. It has that hint of cream cheese tang that I got from Underpants but this one isn't making me sneeze (thank goodness). The longer it is on the more the red fruit mellows and the vanilla cake goodness comes forward. There is just a hint of something spicy in there too.

    Poisson d'Avril

This is beautiful - and I don't normally even like florals. It is light and sweet - nothing cloying about this. I think Beth's description of it being "innocent" is a perfect way to describe this. It is dew kissed springtime blooms. There is a green twist to the florals - like fresh cut stems. Just the right amount of throw too - this would definatly draw me in if I smelled it on someone else. Sure they would probably wonder why I was sniffing them, but it would only be because they smelled so good. Am so glad I took a chance on this one. ETA: Just wanted to mention that this has pretty amazing staying power. After 7 hours the little bugger is still going strong - if anything the throw has actually improved.

    Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp

Hello Minty McMintington! Mint squared. Vanilla mintacular. Mint-o-rama. I'm not sure if Beth has a new source for mint lately or what but whatever the case the mint here is perfect. It is like a mintier version of Snowblind - and Snowblind is pretty darn good on it's own. This is both soothing and refreshing. The vanilla isn't so heavy like in the afore mentioned Snowblind - it just sort of wraps around you and snuggles down. I need like 14 more bottles of this.

    Milk Moon 2007

On me this is pure fig drenched in sweetened honey. Just a hint of something like juicy pomegranet in the background. It has really nice throw and the only hint of milk of any kind that I get is when I glue my nose to my wrist and huff. It is lovely and I am sort of surprised by just how richly sweet it is. A little goes a long way with this. In the bottle is is extreamly powerful. I almost shudder to think of the range this puppy would have in a scent locket

    Where is this scent?

Totally off topic but this would be a fun game/contest to do if a BPAL convention does happen. A Sniff Off! You have to identify as many scents as you an b smell alone. That would be so awesome I don't know what the winner would get as they no doubt would have everything already -lol- maybe just the title of Master Sniffer, BPAL addict first class.

    Mama-Ji

Ok - this is just sexy as hell. Spicy, warm, sensual, intimate. I smell really damn good right now. The floral is more of a background binder than an - in your face - sort of thing. Something about the floral almost makes me think carnation. It is really hard to tease out any one scent - it is so well blended.

    Enraged Groundhog Musk

So very confused - were is the cherry? The caramel? The vanilla? The anything other than cinnamon. Is there even cinnamon in here or is it just cardamom I'm smelling? After about 10 minutes the burning started - and I normally don't react to cinnamon. I'd say this groundhog is definatly enraged. I actually had to go and wash this off it burned/itched so much. Very weird for me. But you don't care about the itching It has a lovely dry, cinnamon bark smell, not particurally sweet/foody at all but lovely all the same. To bad I can't wear it!

    Oof (fizzyBOOM)

I dislike writing bad reviews. I usually just won't review it at all but was pretty disappointed with my Oof fizzyboom. I used an Oof in my bath tonight and loath though I am to admit it, I wasn't that impressed with this one. It fizzes like mad, which is fun, but has almost no scent once it hits the water. It is white so there isn't any color which is fine but what I was sad about was that mine didn't seem to have any water softening bits or the like. With some bath bombs my skin is super moisturized afterwords but not tonight. I have a couple of others to try but I won't order Oof again. I feel like such a bitch for writing this

    Temple: Elemental

Elemental is another blend I have been living with for a year. I would say this is good for connecting to the more primal forces of nature. Dark forests tinged with the metallic bloodiness of a long ago battle.
