    London Smoke

Tobacco flower always smells like perfumey white floral and soap to me, and I strongly get that scent here. Weirdly, I don't smell any tea at all, but it is musky, and something here reminds me of gritty tobacco and hazy white smoke after a while. Clean, smoky, perfumey floral.

    A Pause in One's Studies

The ink in this smells more chemical and sharp than usual, and it's weird mixed with the powdery amber, cream, and powdery, sweet florals. Something about the whole thing comes off as unpleasantly sour (the citrusy white tea and ink?) and slightly soapy on my skin. I love scents like Pomegranate Ink, but I'm not loving inky florals with soap and powder. As it dries down, there's a little smokiness to the ink that starts to remind me of incense, but I still dislike the powdery and soapy tones.

    Battledore and Shuttlecock

Battledore is so strange. It's intensely sour to me, very soapy in a harsh way, with creamy lily undertones. The peony milk and lilac are nowhere to be found. There's an electric green, sour feel from the tea (I often find that bpal's green and white tea notes smell more like citrus than tea) and then soap and lily. I dislike this one strongly.

    Horreur Choco-Tique

A grape popsicle and a fudgesicle melting together with a drizzle of honey. It's very sweet & strong, and most of the notes don't show up on my skin, so it's not as complex as I thought it would be.

    Erotes' Valentine

The buttercream smells like the best buttercream frosting. Buttery vanilla with a whipped, airy quality to it. It doesn't smell like store bought frosting or sickeningly sweet. The rose is persistent on me, as it always is, but it smells like I've plucked the petals off a fresh, dewy, red rose and mixed them into this heavenly buttercream. The dark musk doesn't come out for me at all, but the suede is a barely there whisper of soft leather underneath the buttercream and rose that makes me want to lean in and smell this more deeply. I keep thinking that this could be a girly version of Quincey Morris. It smells very romantic. I've been hating on rose and vanilla rose scents pretty hard lately, but this is one that I actually love.

    Penetralia

This is such an odd yet enjoyable fragrance. It reminds me of watermelon candy, but wrapped in a super creamy, vanilla taffy-ish scent with creamy, cool, white petals and green stems all around. Not overly sweet at all, but also not super green or aggressively anything. It smells like natural spring flowers, stems and all, that somehow also smell of juicy watermelon candy and lots of cream. Pink, creamy, fresh flowers and stems, but also candy. I will at least be keeping my decant of this one. It doesn't remind me of any other fragrance, and it feels very spring and joyful. It gives me a feeling of a cool breeze on the same day that there is warm sunshine.

    A Cluster of Red Chrysanthemums

Cloying grape candy, intensely perfumey/ sharp / musky floral with a soapy undertone, and a whiff of incense smoke. I had to scrub this off, as the fruity grape was so overly sweet that it was making me ill, and I don't like this type of floral at all. Nothing about this reminds me of guava.

    The Sixth Veil

Sprite with a splash of gin (more gin with its juniper-y tones as it dries down), a sliver of orange, a sprig of rosemary, and creamy lilies. It's refreshing, crisp, and clean, but a little too clean and starchy for me after a while. It goes from smelling like a drink to something more dry, like a drink spilled over clean, heavy linen.

    Discarded Weapons

The champaca throws this one off for me because it has a hazy, dry, scratchy incense smoke that lays over everything and bothers me (and I usually like champaca). A slightly buttery, nutty, warm rice note with a hint of almond lingers underneath the champaca. In the drydown, I smell a hint of fruity fig every once in a while, and maybe some creaminess from the coconut, but there's no noticeable coconut smell to my nose. Has a pale, washed out quality to it where I find it hard to pinpoint exact notes. I definitely wanted more fig than this delivers, and it's too smoky and sharp for my tastes.

    The Crimson

The Crimson is such a pleasant scent, and it's one that I would love my husband to wear (warm, cuddly woods and sweet resin scents are his jam). On first application, the apple slices burst forward and smell like cutting into a juicy, green apple. Then the clove spice starts to creep in and the apple turns into a fresh rose scent. An hour in, however, I just get the wood & labdanum, and something that smells like vanilla. The wood note is warm, cozy, and easy to wear, the amber gives a sweetly resinous base, and then something is quite sweet (like a vanilla amber). This is what I wanted Kiseru to be (though aged Kiseru finally came into its own for me).

The Serpent in the Opium Poppies

I rarely enjoy opium/poppy notes, but I love this blend. The plum cognac is amazing, the touch of resinous, dark gold amber/labdanum works so well with it, the Snake Oil is sexy and red musky, and the opium poppy is a barely there, juicy floral that I would have guessed was black orchid as it dries down. The blend is funky and sort of mentholic for the first 5 minutes, but then it blooms into perfection. The plum cognac is really strong on me, and it's a deep, rich, lightly sweet plum that feels silky and grownup (not a sugarplum or sour plum, and doesn't smell alcoholic). It reminds me of Kilian's plum liquor scents, but this is definitely a bpal with the Snake Oil and resinous tones. I'm surprised that other people aren't getting much SO or plum because they're the strongest notes on my skin.

Couple Engaged in Intimate Acts as the Man Pours Tea

Jasmine tea is one of the greatest pleasures in life for me, but I like my tea with no sugar, no cream, and nothing else added at all. I think it's the same for me with jasmine tea fragrances. I find the vanilla and yuzu distracting, and the vanilla is actually the strongest note on me, though I get no smoke from it. Very sweet vanilla (almost reminiscent of beeswax somehow) with whiffs of warm rice, citrusy yuzu, and jasmine. Within an hour, I can barely smell this at all, and it's light from the start.

    Scarlet Blossoms

I love bpal's "wild plum" note but this is all cherry, honey/beeswax, and white tea to my nose. Waxy, sweet honey with a cherry note that I don't like for the first half hour-ish (then the cherry disappears) and a citrusy white tea. I surprisingly don't get any musk, amber, plum or floral. It's a very quiet beeswax scent that sticks close and only lasts about an hour on me.

    UNF

I agree that this has a watery, aquatic vibe. It's fruity in a nondescript way to me, like Juicy Fruit gum, even a little powdery. Juicy Fruit gum floating in a glass of water, sort of pale and washed out. The patchouli and pink pepper add a little funkiness way in the background that reminds me of a whiff of weed. I'm not sure why I ordered this one and not Aces Wild.

    The Dark Chocolate Rider

Lots of sweet myrrh/opoponax - very syrupy sweet, honeyed, resinous scent - with a smoky, ashy tobacco that reminds me of vetiver. I can smell a hint of chocolate at first, and I wish it stuck around, because it's very smooth and lovely, but the drydown is all opoponax and ashy tobacco on me. No leather to be found. I'm also surprised at how light and close to the skin this fragrance is. It has almost no throw on me and I can't smell it after about an hour.

    The Ruby Chocolate Rider

I love ruby chocolate and have eaten a lot of it, lol. The best ruby chocolate is like mellow, creamy, not overly sweetened white chocolate infused with a tart, red, raspberry-ish flavor profile. I definitely think that this smells like ruby chocolate tastes, and the base of red musk, moss, and leather is amazing with it. It leans animalic from the musk and leather, and smells very sensual to me, while the chocolate provides the scent with a lovely, creamy sweetness, and the red berries meld into the red musk and make it slightly more tangy. It makes me feel like I should be a fairy tale princess picking raspberries in the woods under the watchful eye of a leather-clad man with a pet bear. It reminds me of Tezcatlipoca as well, but this is more creamy and red with a pop of fruitiness, where Tezcatlipoca is a dark cocoa and leather. The Ruby Chocolate Rider is on my list to full size. I really enjoy it.

    Findom

Finally, a conversation hearts fragrance that fits my lifestyle (I'm as Taurus as it gets, what can I say). I love most of the Lab's butterscotch fragrances but I wasn't sure about the vanilla mint with butterscotch. I agree that the butterscotch is very syrupy and sweet, which I enjoy, and the vanilla mint is more of a bracing peppermint than anything vanilla-y. Peppermint candies mixed with butterscotch candies. The first time that I wore this, it was 50/50 butterscotch & peppermint, but with a little age, I find that the butterscotch is much stronger than the mint in the drydown. I also get a warm caramel coffee type of vibe from this. Lasts about 6 hours on me before it starts to disappear. Very sweet and very butterscotch.

    On Marriage

The red currant is tart, sour, and acidic, similar to cranberry. Then there's baby powdery orris. I can't really pick out vanilla, creaminess, or much sweetness. Sour red currant and powder. I don't like how powdery this turns on my skin.

    Pumpkin Blood

Cherry cough syrup and pumpkin spice. The myrrh and dragon's blood don't make it past the cherry and spice. The 2024 pumpkins were all kind of a let down for me. This one doesn't remind me of Blood at all, and I was hoping for fresh pumpkin pulp and only get generic spice.

    Ruins of Karnstein

Something in this goes aggressively soapy on my skin, paired with an ashy, harsh smokiness between the vetiver and oud. There's a mossy, pine-y green scent as well, but it's mostly woodsmoke, ash, and soap. I don't care for this blend at all.

    Stoned Bunny Blow Mold

I cannot smell any of the weed note in this either. It has one of the strongest rice milk notes I've ever tried, though. I haven't had good luck with the blow mold scents but I couldn't resist rice milk and marshmallow. The rice milk is surprisingly the strongest note, sweetened lightly by the marshmallow, giving off a cool toned, super creamy, slightly sweet, vanilla-y scent. It also smells a little buttery, which I like. Starts off creamy and lotion-y and settles into a sweeter vibe as it dries down. I don't love the plastic and powdery, dusty, slightly animalic amber, though. I find myself wishing that it were just the rice milk and marshmallow because the other notes smell off in an otherwise gourmand and creamy fragrance. That said, while I don't love the plasticy tone of the blow mold scents, it does really make me think of Easter in this blend. Specifically, this reminds me of a plastic Easter basket filled with plasticy, fake grass, Peeps, and good white chocolate. Then the amber throws me off. I can't decide if this is ultimately wearable for me or if it falls into the category of an atmospheric curiosity that I'll sniff every once in a while and never actually wear.

    Death Moon 2025

Strong opium poppy (harsh, 80s white floral and aldehyde scent here) and strong jasmine scented soap. Some dry wafts of incense smoke. Bergamot blossom adds a little lemon dish soap. It's all way too sharp, harsh, and soapy for me. I was hoping for strong sugared absinthe but I don't get that at all. This was a scrubber for me because it started to give me a headache, so I only made it through the first half hour.

    Revenant Rhythm

2025 Revenant Rhythm isn't the same as OG Banshee Beat or OG Revenant Rhythm to my nose. I hoarded both of the originals back in the day, so it's still one of my most worn bpal fragrances today. The patchouli in this feels different - darker and more of a deep, earthy, damp, black earth patchouli than a gourmand/cocoa leaning patchouli. The vanilla reminds me of toasted marshmallows, and I get an undertone of cinnamon as well. I also find that this has a stronger whiff of menthol than the previous two versions, at least for the first half hour, and then it calms down. This doesn't remind me of Mugler's Angel but it does remind me of LUSH's Blue Skies fragrance (black patchouli, cinnamon leaf, and frankincense). If someone put this on me without telling me the name, I wouldn't pick up on it being Banshee Beat or Revenant Rhythm because the notes are different enough, and something in this is cinnamon-y on my skin. All that said, I still absolutely love this scent. It's just Revenant Rhythm adjacent to me rather than being a direct copy.

    Four and Twenty Blackbirds

Monster Bait: Closet, is that you? Four & Twenty Blackbirds is blackberry pie filling, the most lovely, rich, vanilla cream cheese frosting, and a hint of spicy-green weed note (like the way tomato leaf is green and spicy). It's like the edibles version of MB: Closet, and I love it. After a half hour, I can smell the "rye puff pastry crust," and it adds a warm, cuddly, golden undertone to the scent. I feel like I can smell the unusual spiciness of caraway mingling with the weed note, but I could be imagining that. Blackberry pie filling, vanilla, pie crust, and a hint of weed. This is even better than I was hoping it would be ❤️.

    Contest of Flowers

I've nearly gone through my decant of Contest of Flowers: Iris, and will definitely full bottle it. Every time I wear this, I think of fairies (actually, the mischievous Sylphs in Final Fantasy XIV, lol) finding a white highland cow and covering it with flowers and feeding it nothing but strawberries and sugar dusted fairy flowers, and then this is what its milk would smell like. Fresh, ripe strawberries and lightly sugared, magical flowers steeped in milk. After about a half hour, the lightly spicy carnation and milkiness reminds me very much of aged Alice, if Alice were made into a strawberry milk. It's creamy, dreamy, delicately sweet, and so perfect for me for spring.
