It's been a long time since I signed up for a swap, but this one reached out and grabbed me, since I was just looking at some jewelry I should part with earlier today. Is commenting here enough to sign up? I'm in Wisconsin, near Milwaukee.

Yep, all you need to do is post your interest and your state here. Once we've reached any sort of critical mass, I'll rearrange the order and reach out to whomever is first on the list. Thanks for joining!

  2. It is January, therefore it is time for me to yet again set free the large flat-rate box hiding under my bed.

You know what that means - or perhaps you do not.

What am I talking about, you ask?

This is a round robin swap for all things jewelry - necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, broaches/pins/buttons, watches, glasses/mask chains...you know the drill, made of just about any material you can adorn yourself with. If you have serious questions about what constitutes jewelry, let me know. Pretty sure there are some hair doo-dads in there as well.

What exactly is a round robin swap, you might also ask?

I take the heavy large flat rate box and send to the first recipient, who will indulge their magpie tendencies, contribute a similar number of items from their own stash, and send on to the next person, and so on.

    The main rules are:

    * please keep the box for no more than 10 days -

if you are ill or have any signs of illness please let me know and I'll shuffle the order around (if you already have the box, let me know and we'll extend the time until you are well)

    * be generous - items don't have to be 1:1 (i.e., if you take two necklaces, you don't need to put in two necklaces, but try to put in at least as many items as you take)

    * please do not put in extras like candy or incense or sniffies or tea - there's plenty to go through with just the jewelry and adjacent items and the box is super heavy (also, incense gives me migraines, so that's my own bias)

    * for this round I am going to do a pull of items that I've seen multiple times now and create a "last chance" bag - these are things that will be coming out of the box before the next round, so if you want them, take them; last chance items do not count toward your replacement balance - PLEASE TAKE THEM

Unfortunately, this swap is US only because it would take a small fortune to ship otherwise.

Sound fun after all of that admin stuff? Then sign your fabulous self up!

ALSO when you sign up, please tell me the state where you live - given longer than usual shipping times and a higher rate of loss, rather than going in sign-up order, I am going to try to roughly organize based on geographic proximity, working out from Virginia, out to the west coast. If anyone joins late, they will be slotted in on the home trip back to VA.

Participants (limit 10)(* has the box):

    Thuy (DMV)

    tdgnika (WI)

    neptuneanblues (TX)

    Greenwoodtree (OR)

  3. While we are in the post-holiday lull, just wanted to give folks a heads up to keep eyes open for the return of the jewelry round robin soon (like within hours)

    AND

The eventual return of the Spring Cleaning Swap which I really really want to do, but probably won't open until March or so.

  4. So, I realize that with Switch Witch just starting folks may be overwhelmed,  but is there still interest in a 13 nights swap this year?

We would need to get started this week, if so. I really shouldn't host, but I would be happy to assist if someone does want to take it on, because it is my absolute favorite swap of the year.

  5. Would anyone be interested in a lighting round of something small and finite for end of summer/back to school? For my lighting rounds, I just draw names, no attempts at close matching.

I'm itchy for something and have maybe just enough capacity to manage 15 participants who solemnly swear they will make good.

  6. I have not heard anything about a spring Switch Witch at the mod level, but to be fair, y'all usually know before me.

Re Spring Cleaning, I would love to participate,  but definitely cannot run it. Other than the occasional round robin, I think my hosting days are over for the foreseeable future.  Work is just too much right now.

Speaking of round robins, though,  I do need to get the jewelry box back in flight soon.

We have a Natural Grocers here too!  (First one I'd ever seen and the only place I can find that carries Toum around here.)

@Em-  would this count against a swap for a year so the organizer could only have two other swaps at same time?  (year long birthday card swap)  Or could it be an informal thing?

Generally, card swaps count against the total, but if someone with an extensive proven track record of successfully running swaps were to take this on, I would be willing to make an exception to the 3 swaps rule.

Kiddie valentines!  I used to love collecting my kiddie valentines in a paper bag to open on valentines day. With treats! sticks of gum, tea, stickers?!?!?  OK, maybe i am a weirdo. ha, ha.

Many many years ago someone ran a swap where we made valentines boxes for someone and sent an assortment of goodies, which was super fun.

  9. I ordered this one knowing that I really like Alice, though its a little on the floral-sweet side for me, that I should by rights LOVE Scherezade, as I love all of the notes and particularly red musk (one of my fave notes), but it tends to feel a little dry to me, and that while I'm not sure I've tried Rakshasa, I like sandalwood and some patchoulis.

Y'all, this is amazing. It doesn't read head shoppy AT ALL to me, which I note mainly because it clearly does to some people and I don't want it to scare people off. I tend to really amp red musk and that is by far the predominant note on my skin, but the milk and honey and Earl Gray tea-ness from the Alice are just enough to give the musk that sultry smoothness I associate with my fave red musk blends and the spices and saffron play super well with the florals from Alice and Rakshasa.
