    Cherry blossom

I couldn't find a post covering this - apologies if this is a duplicate. I love the cherry blossom note in Kyoto, but haven't tried many blends which contain this. Anyone got a favourite cherry blossom blend they could point me towards? Many thanks!

    Medicine, medicinal notes

Hemlock - it's eucalyptus/menthol herbyness in the good way!

Can I use BPAL to train my nose?

Blood Amber is another good two-note blend.

    Vechernyaya

First time I tried this, I had some weird olfactory version of a blind spot with it. I could smell literally nothing from it. A friend could (so it wasn't the imp), so I gave it to her. A few months later it was frimped in a lab order. Retrying, and the blind spot has gone and I am so pleased it has, because this is wonderful. Slightly - and surprisingly as the notes made me expect something heavy - ethereal with musks that remind me of Evening Cicadas, this is the scent for a woman who is powerful and intelligent but doesn't need to push it in your face, and a little reserved and distant. This will be a great general office wear scent! I'll definitely finish up the imp, and would consider a bottle.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

My first thought was Tamora: 'Amber, heliotrope, golden sandalwood, peach blossom and vanilla bean' - no musk, but many other notes in common. I've never tried Burberry for comparison, however, so that could be well off!

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Casanova is, on me at least, very reminiscent of Guerlain's Jicky, if slightly more masculine. They have several notes in common, so should hopefully be a similarity between them for others!

    fizzy, sorta carbonated, sparkling blends?

Velvet Tiki might be worth a look; it was an LE from earlier this year.

    Midwinter's Eve

I was kindly frimped an imp of the '04 version of this in a forum sale. This makes me think of the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker. The plum is a lovely candy-sweet, and the flowers just in the background keep it from becoming cloying. I love this - I hope it makes a comeback this year!
  9. Candy Phoenix and O are both sweet without being buttery. Candy Phoenix is gorgeous, it's fruity and amazing.

    The Best Mint Blends

When I saw your topic title Envy was exactly what I was about to suggest! For me it only holds that sort of scent for about an hour then dries down to a more generic herbal soap smell, but a teensy reapplication brings the mintyness back. As it's GC it's well worth a shot

    Cherry blossom

The Lantern Ghost of Oiwa sounds amazing, and I'll definitely be out to try that one! The Spell of Amorous Love also sounds amazing, and I'll try and get hold of some of it. Aizen-Myoo didn't really work for me unfortunately. It's a shame cherry blossom is such an uncommon note, but now I have a few things I know I want to try. Thanks a lot, everyone

    Silk Road

I spent all day feeling like a chicken tikka masala, and not in a good way. Spicy scents are clearly not for me; off to a better home!

    Djinn

Last night where I live was the annual 'light lots of bonfires' night. When I stepped out of the house today, the air smelt exactly like Djinn. As an execution of a concept it's amazing, but it's not something I want to smell of, so I'll be swapping this.

    Strangler Fig

I was a little dubious about this one, because the fig is generally something that can go weird on me. In this one it stays good, and the green plant smell puts me in mind of a garden just after the rain. This is a great, fresh, waking-up scent. Might not be a bottle, but I'll definitely use up the imp and am glad I was frimped it!

    Veil

At first, this is beautiful - a gorgeous, light floral, and for just a moment I think I've found my perfect floral. Alas, ten minutes in and violet's 'Note of Death' qualities kick in, and the whole thing morphs into the scent of something you'd find going mouldy in a shed. Off to swaps, sadly.

The scent of a sexy vampire...

My first thought was LE Midnight Kiss (Eternal desire, unquenchable passion: red musk, cocoa absolute, Nepalese amber, red sandalwood, aged patchouli, nicotiana, and blood wine) which should be easy enough to get hold of still.

    Antique Lace

I got this as a frimp, and honestly expected to hate it. I'm not into florals much, and stale linen and old perfume didn't exactly sound appealing! I try everything once though, so I gave it a shot. Instant love. It's soft, creamy, floral but in the best possible way. It can be comforting, sexy and everything inbetween. Throw is moderate and wear length is incredible - I've applied in the morning and woken up the next day and can still smell it faintly - which makes it perfect for everyday wear. This is a floral for people who hate florals! I'm so glad I was frimped this; I'd never have tried it otherwise and I now have a bottle.

    All about plum!

I'd rec Bensiabel (Plum juice, lilac, leather, and a smattering of herbs); I love leather and lavender, and the plum just makes this even more gorgeous.

    Give me caramel!

Might seem an odd one, but the current LE Sugar Cookie smells very butterscotch to me. I thought it was just me, but a few people said the same when I wore it today, so might be worth trying if that's what you're after - it's delicious.

    Recommending a BPAL pumpkin blend...

Pumpkin IV 2008 would definitely work well on a man; it's got a great woodsy side to it.

    Brisingamen

I bought a full 5ml of this untried in my very first order from the Lab - I just had a good feeling about it! And luckily my instinct was so right. The amber is beautiful, soft and warm, and the apple blossom and myrtle give it a lovely hint of floral, without it ever really becoming a floral perfume. It lasts very well and has a good throw without beating people over the head with scent. This is one I always get at least one 'oh, that smells amazing!' every time I wear it. It's the one I'll turn to on feminine, girlie days.
