    D'Anjou Pear

Bottle (Imp): Oooh, it smells just like a pear. I want to take a bite. Just On: Oooh, I just opened a jar of pears that were freshly preserved, and this is IT. I already love this almost as much as my Raspberry SN. An hour or two later: Rats, it's fading, but it still smells like I've spilled a bit of pear juice on me. I have to curb the urge to lick my wrist. Around 6 hours: It's getting pretty faded, but with my wrist glued to my nose, I can still smell it. Of course, it's hard to type, and do other things, but oh this is a wonderful scent. 12 hours: It finally got to where I can't smell it. I think I might cry about that. Overall: I love this, it is so freakin beautiful. Sometimes I just want to sob that I've mossed out on so many of these beautiful scents because I didn't discover BPAL earlier. But then again, there's a bright side to that, as I've had so many people swap generously with me so that I could try these. Always looking for that silver lining. I may have to go buy pears at 2 am. After reading other reviews: I agree with what has been said, though I think of it as fresh canned pears (not the store bought kind, the ones you do yourself in your kitchen so they are perfection when opened. Yet another SN that amazes me.

    Vanilla Bean

Bottle (Imp): It really smells like a vanilla bean. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this is pretty close, I guess. Just On: This is a creamy, smooth vanilla. Not something you can just taste the way it is, but still it does seem like it could be edible. An hour or two later: Still a smooth and creamy vanilla, which is as it should be. It's already starting to fade though. Around 6 hours: It's faded to a very light creamy bit of vanilla bean scent. I can't think of anything to compare this to, it does smell like vanilla bean. I'm glad I got to try this one. 12 hours: It faded away to nothing, and I am sad about that. Overall: This is a very nice scent. It's creamy, lush, and soft, but not foody, or cloying. After reading other reviews: Aha, it was that vanilla that I was smelling in Dana O'Shee! No wonder it smelled familiar.

    Raspberry

Bottle (Imp): Raspberries. It's like I took raspberries and squished them, and am smelling the juices. Just On: Oooh, I smell like I have just smeared raspberries on my skin, without the inevitable staining. This is a very true scent, and very lovely. An hour or two later: Oh I am in love with this. I adore raspberries, so I'm totally loving things scent. I'm so glad this didn't do what Honey did to me. Around 6 hours: I can still smell raspberries, and I still love it. 12 hours: Still sweet, and still calling my name as one of my very favorites. Overall: This has moved right up into my top five, let alone my top ten. I love, love, LOVE this. I couldn't smell more like raspberries if I had smashed severeal dozen into my bath. I so so wish this was available now. After reading other reviews: I mourn this one's passing as well.

    Coffee Bean

Bottle (Imp): Smells like coffee. (Duh <g>) Just On: This doesn't smell like brewed coffee, it smells like the actual beans. It's not ground beans either. It really smells like coffee beans. An hour or two later: Coffee, but certainly not sweet coffee. Around 6 hours: It smells like brewes coffee as it's just starting to get a bit stale 12 hours: Stale coffee. The kind that a spoon will stand striaght up in. Not necessarily a bad thing in my book. Overall: It smells like coffee all the way through, and even goes through stages as coffee would. Again I am amazed at how Beth captures things so freaking amazingly. After reading other reviews: I concur. <g>

    The Apothecary

Bottle (Imp): This is another nice fresh breezy scent. Just On: It's herby, and possibly has some kind of tea in it. An hour or two later: This is a bit sharp. Around 6 hours: The sharpness has faded, and it's much easier on the nose now. I can't really identify anything specific in it. 12 hours: It's all gone. Overall: I like it okay, but am not enamored of it to the point of seeking more. After reading other reviews: I certainly didn't get anything citrus out of this one. It's probably going to get traded away.

    Jailbait

Bottle (Imp): This smells like bubblegum! I love it already, I just hope it works on me. Just On: Going on I get the strong bubblegum smell. It reminds me of Carefree sugar free bubble gum, or maybe Trident bubblegum. I am so loving this. The Mate, several feet away says, "I smell bubblegum." An hour or two later: There's more spice now, and not as much bubblegum. I can't tell what scent the spiciness is, but I do like it muchly. This may hit the top ten list quickly. Around 6 hours: This still smells like spiced bubblegum, and I really really like it. 12 hours: There's less bubblegum, and more spiciness to it now, and it's faded a fair amount. This is *so* a keeper. Overall: I adore this, and it's very much in my top ten now. It smells very true to the imp almost all the way through, with the bubblegum fading and the spices coming out more as the day progresses. After reading other reviews: I never really got the floral part of this, which is fine in my book. I am so going to have to get a bottle of this scent.

    The Ides of March 2005

Bottle (Imp): This smells fresh and breezy with some mintiness. Not really sweet, but almost a hint of sweetness. Just On: No more sweetness, but definitely fresh, clean, and like a very early spring breeze. The minty thing I thought I smelled is gone. An hour or two later: NO mint at all, I might have been imagining it. I get some breeziness, a bit like a dryer sheet. Around 6 hours: Dryer sheet freshness. This is not a bad thing, I like a lot of dryer sheets. 12 hours: It's super faded, so the barest hint is there if I really try to find it. Overall: I rather like it, but I'm not sure I'd wear it enough to justify keeping it. After reading other reviews: I didn't really get any cologne-y-ness from it, and it was pretty nice. It had okay staying power, and I liked the minty part. However, I think this one will head to swaps, because there are so many I want more.

    Bacchanalia

Bottle (Imp): Smells like fresh breezes going through a forest almost. It's very separated, so I've had to roll it a LOT to mix it back up. Just On: Less freshness, more of a bandaid smell coming on. Kinda scary, it might not work on me, but I've never washed an oil off yet, and I'm not starting now. Maybe it will dry down to something nice. An hour or two later: I'm getting a hint of urine/musk smell that isn't agreeing with me. Like a bandaid that has had urine dripped on it. Ugh. Looking like this one isn't going to like me a bit. Around 6 hours: Yep, it's pee-soaked bandaids. Starting to fade just a bit, but I'm so not going to be able to wear this. 12 hours: Now, I finally get a bit of a musky powder nice smell, but I'm not sure it was worth the wait. I wonder if this would work on The Mate. Overall: If it were to go to the musky powder smell right away, I could live with that. Unfortunately, it goes through a lot else first. After reading other reviews: I never got any grapes out of this. Why do I always lose the fruit and keep the civet? I'm gonna pout. This one has to go find a new home.

    Dead Man's Hand

Bottle (Imp): Oooh, this smells like a tack room, as I've been told. I don't sense anything but leather in this, much stronger than my initial leather scent from De Sade. Just On: Oh, this IS leather in a bottle! A leather store, tack room, saddle shop kind of leather smell. I'm hooked. An hour or two later: Though it has faded some, I can still smell nothing but leather. Around 6 hours: A faded scent of leather. I can see this layering beautifully with a lot of other scents. I really like this one a LOT. 12 hours: Still that last bit of leather scent, and I really like it. I'm *so* glad I got to try this. Overall: I love the smell of leather, so I love this scent. Yet another example of Beth's creative genius. How does she bottle these scents so perfectly? After reading other reviews: Yes, this is leather, and I love it. I wish I had five bottles of it. The only thing I can wish for now is something that actually smells like horses (this is the tack room, I want the horse!).

    Cerberus

Bottle (Imp): Some sweetness, maybe a little spice here. Just On: Yes, there's a hint of some kind of spice, and the sweetness is nice, but mild. It smells like candy of some sort, but not overly sweet. As I'm trying it on, The Mate comments that from across the room it almost smells like nail polish remover. An hour or two later: I did detect a hint of the acetone scent he meant for a bit, but it's faded and just barely there now. Covering it up is a sweet, mildly spicy scent that I'm really liking. Around 6 hours: This tickles the back of my nose, and I can't decide if it's in a good way or a bad way. Still some of the spicy sweet scent I was getting before. 12 hours: Now it's more of a sweetness and spicy scent again, leaning heavily to the sweet side. Overall: I like this scent, but I don't know that I would have wanted a big bottle of it. I'll keep the imp around unless I can find a *really* wanted imp to swap for. After reading other reviews: I didn't really get chocolate, and I certainly didn't get fig, although maybe my mind was playing tricks, and the sweetness was the fig. I'm guessing the cubeb is the spicy thing I'm getting. I really didn't get any citrus, or juniper either.
  11. OriginalWacky

    De Sade

Bottle (Imp): For some reason, I am smelling NOTHING in the imp. Just On: I'm starting to smell the faintest hint of leather. I rather like it, it's like I'm standing downwind a ways from somebody who has cured leather. I suspect since it's SO light, it will fade fast. An hour or two later: The barest hint of leather. This is really fading quickly, which is a little sad, since I think I might like it. Around 6 hours: I can get a hint of leather if I stick my nose right against my skin and inhale very deeply, but other than that, it's gone. 12 hours: It's all gone. Overall: This is very faint, and hard to smell from the beginning, but I think I might like it. I will have to give it another shot and see how it goes. I got the same thing. I may have to try this in another swap someday when I get the chance. After reading other reviews: Wow, I guess I'm the only person who didn't get anything strong out of this one. It was just so weak that I never really could enjoy it, and therefore I swapped it away.

    Love Me

Bottle (Imp): This smells animalistic. No sweetness, no flowers, just like animals, but not in a bad way. Perhaps it's dragon's blood? We'll see what happens when I put it on. Just On: Ooh, sharp! I'm guessing dragon's blood is dominant here. It's kind of smoky too, not like a huge fire, more like a tiny little campfire. It's tingly on my skin, but not in a bad way. An hour or two later: There is the barest hint of something sweet under that first scent (I'm still thinking something musky, or otherwise animal-like, like dragon's blood). I wish the sweet would come out to play. Around 6 hours: It's softened a bit, into something like a little incense, with something smoky, and the dragon's blood (I think that's what it is). 12 hours: It was mostly gone by 12 hours, but I was sweaty. Overall: This doesn't reaslly smell like my kind of perfume, but I think the effect is the one it should be. Let's just say that I went to bed with this on, and The Mate woke me up in a very *special* way a couple hours later. After a couple hours (Whoa baby!), we drifted off to sleep still tangled up together (I'm sure that's TMI). I'd have to conclude that I should buy a 5 ML of this, just for that, whether it likes my skin or not! After reading other reviews: Oh, this is SO not fair! I LOVE sweet, vanilla, cinnamon scents, and I got NONE of those out of this! However, I'd have to say that the, er, night time activities that occurred when I wore this were WELL worth it. Swapping the imp, and saving to get a 5 ml.

    The Tower

Bottle (Imp): It's kind of sharp-ish, and a little bit burn-y, if that makes sense. Like a bit of smoke, but *right* after the fire is out, and something sharp as well. Just On: It smells a lot like it did in the imp, and then it starts to change just a little bit, to a little more molten kinda smell. An hour or two later: This is still pretty acrid to my nose. It's rather unpleasant, but seems to capture the meaning of the card well, so I'm not complaining. Perhaps this would be better used in meditating upon the card. Around 6 hours: I have some kind of bandaid thing going on here, and it smells like burnt bandaids, which is a little worse than the usual bandaids on me. This is certainly not one I'm going to be wearing a whole lot. 12 hours: It's mostly gone, just some vestiges of burnt bandaid left over, and nothing else. Overall: Well, this has some note in it that really disagrees with me, so it's going to get swapped away. Preferably for another tarot oil, I'm really into trying them all. It does actually fit the card in my own mind (until it turns yucky with my skin), and is yet another example of Beth's amazing talent. After reading other reviews: I got NO sweetness out of this one at all, but I got the burning thing. I have to say, brimstone sounds like a good way to describe it in the imp. I wonder if it's the vetiver that is giving me the bandaids scent. My skin apparently hates SOMEthing, and that might be it.

    The Fool

Bottle (Imp): Wow, minty. Just On: I am getting all minty out of this. An hour or two later: It's fairly faded and minty still. Around 6 hours: Not much left at all, but maybe a hint of mint. 12 hours: It is gone now, and I think I liked it. Overall: I didn't really get anything but mint out of it, and I liked it. I'd buy a big bottle of this. After reading other reviews: Pennyroyal must be the minty thing I'm getting. This goes on the list for a purchase at some point. I really didn't get fruit out of it, but that was okay in this case, it was quite nice anyway.
  15. OriginalWacky

    Ice Queen

Bottle (Imp): Oooh, this smells a bit like the air before it snows. Just On: Very crisp clean scent of oncoming snow. An hour or two later: Very icy scent of crisp clean air. Around 6 hours: It's pretty much the same. I like this more than I expected I would. 12 hours: I still have a little bit of this on, and I still think it smells like winter air. Overall: I like it, but I'm ready to swap it off for something sweeter. I'd buy it if it came out again. After reading other reviews: I didn't really get the pine or tree scents out of this at all. I guess the mint might be what seemed cold, but it wasn't an obvious mint, like crushing a mint plant or anything.
  16. OriginalWacky

    Snow White

Bottle (Imp): I'm getting faint flowers and that's about it on this one. Just On: Flowers and something sweet. I'm thinking a bit of coconut? It's not cloyingly floral, but I can smell them. An hour or two later: Hmmm, coconuts, flowers, and plastic. Darn it. Around 6 hours: It's pretty faded, but I can still smell plastic coconuts and flowers. 12 hours: I'm left with the barest hint of plastic. Overall: Well, I got that plastic thing again, which I get with a few notes. At least it wasn't cat pee. I doubt I'll hang on to this one. After reading other reviews: Boy, I certainly wish I'd gotten what some of the more enthusiastic Snow White lovers got out of this! Since I got mostly plastic, it got swapped away.
  17. OriginalWacky

    Samhain

Bottle (Imp): It smells woodsy, with a hint of mulled wine, and some smoke. Just On: Ooh, much more smoky right away. A tart wine-y smell with it. Almost a hint of antiseptic scent, but not in a really bad way. An hour or two later: I guess it almost smells a bit like mulled wine, a faint whiff of smoke, and some kind of antiseptic. I sort of like it, but at the same time I'm not sure. Around 6 hours: The antiseptic scent seems to be gone, leaving mulled wine while sitting by a campfire. 12 hours: There's a little smoke and stale wine left on me, but it's mostly gone. Overall: This is a pretty nice scent all the way through. It does turn stale at the very end, but that's not a big issue for me. After reading other reviews: I guess I fall in line with a lot of other folks who really like this one. I did swap it, because I'm trying to get my hands on so much more, but I'd take it if I could get it again.
  18. OriginalWacky

    Graveyard Dirt

Bottle (Imp): It smells exactly like dirt. I would expect something that smells like this to be dark brown. Just On: Whoa, I smell like freshly turned dirt. For real. If I were to smell that scent with my eyes closed, I would be surprised to open them and not find myself near some loamy dirt. I can't smell anything else, just the dirt (not that that is surprising). An hour or two later: Now there is an almost herby smell to this, but it's still more dirt than anything. It has faded more than I'd like. Around 6 hours: It's pretty much gone, just a hint of the dirt smell left. This has wonderful possibilities for ritual. 12 hours: It left, but it was gooood while it lasted. I'm not sure about smelling like this though. Overall: Beth bottled dirt. That's freaking amazing. After reading other reviews: Like many others, this blew me away totally. It's incredible. It's amazing.
  19. OriginalWacky

    Storm Moon

Bottle (Imp): This smells like fresh summer rain (and a little like dryer sheets, which isn't bad). It's like the air during a thunderstorm, charged with the lightning. I can almost hear the thunder. Just On: It's a little more like dryer sheets, and I like it. This is the scent of a storm, and the name really fits it. An hour or two later: Ahhhh, I feel like I'm standing out on the porch during a rain storm. This is another incredible blend, and smells so much like it's name that I keep smelling it. I'm not sure if I want to smell like a storm, but I'm not going to give this one up unless it's a really good trade. Around 6 hours: Now we've dried way down into almost totally dryer sheet scent. It's not something I hate or anything, I rather like some dryer sheets. 12 hours: All that is left is some dryer sheet. Overall: This totally lives up to it's name. Even when it turns to a dryer sheet scent, I do like it, but I'm not so sure I want to smell like dryer sheets on a regular basis. I'm a little up in the air about whether or not I will keep this. After reading other reviews: The touch of floral obviously didn't take over, so that was good. I'm guessing I can smell the ozone, which is probably what reminds me of a thunderstorm. I think that the wet scent is what gives me the dryer sheet thing. I did swap this, but it was pretty good, so I wouldn't complain at having more.

    Pink Moon 2005

Bottle (Imp): Smells sweet and flowery. Not cloyingly flowery, just pleasant flowers. And the sweetness is nice. Just On: More flowers than sweet, and hints of herbal scents. But the sweetness is there, and I like this so far. It's fairly mild, and I perceive it as quite feminine. An hour or two later: These are mild and sweet flowers. I wish I was amping up the sweet part, but these flowers are livable, so this isn't all bad. No plastic or cloying scent to this, which is nice. I definitely feel this is a feminine scent. Around 6 hours: The flowers have amped up more, so although the scent is faded, it's more flowers than it was before. I was so hoping this would work on me, since I did see people saying it was sweet, but apparently I'm drumming up the flowers out of this, and not liking it quite so much. I think I can smell the lunar oils, and those aren't too bad though. 12 hours: It's almost totally gone, but I can catch a hint of flowers if I try. It sounds good on paper, but on my skin it seems to come down to flowers. Overall: Well, it was a good purchase, but I don't think I'll be keeping this imp. I'm glad I got to try it, and just as glad I didn't spend a lot of money on it. After reading other reviews: I certainly didn't get any sweetness out of this one. If I had, the flowers might have been fine with me, but the flowers were so strong that anything else was drowned out, and I'm grieving that. This went off to the swaps, to somebody who can wear it.

    Hexennacht (2005, 2016, 2019)

Bottle (Imp): There's a sharpness to this that I can't figure out. It overpowers any other possible scents, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. We shall see what my skin does to it. Just On: Uh oh. I'm detecting a plastic-y sharp note that's almost reminiscent of a dirty bathroom. This could be bad. I might think there was a leathery scent to this, but that's not quite it. An hour or two later: Plastic rules this scent at this point. I'm going to have to look and compare to see what it is that is doing that, and start thinking about avoiding those scents on my skin. Around 6 hours: It's still plastic-y, but also a bit . I don't know that I'll be wearing this one. 12 hours: If it weren't plastic, I might have a clue what it smelled like, but it stayed plastic right up to the end. Overall: Well this one started out plastic, and ended up the same way, so I don't foresee using it. It's probably off to the swaps. After reading other reviews: Apparently, I am the only person who absolutely cannot wear this. It just never turned to anything but plastic on me, and it certainly wasn't pleasant. Hunter Moon is okay on me, and Samhain was NICE, but this hates my guts with the fire of a thousand burning suns. Ah well, swappy swappy.

    Beltane 2005-06

Bottle (Imp): This smells like spicy flowers to me. On second sniff, more flowers, but still not overpowering. Just On: Wow, it turns almost immediately to all flowers. Still not overpowering, but I'm a little unsure about flowers only on me. I can't identify any specific flowers, my nose is still pretty untrained, and these are blended very well. An hour or two later: It's a lot of flowers, and a lot of flowers. Something has turned to plastic, but that's not the dominating scent, so it's flowers in plastic. Around 6 hours: Flowers. And too many flowers for me to really enjoy this scent. I love the idea, but I don't think it's going to work for me. 12 hours: It's dried way way down to faded musty florals, and I don't care for it much. Overall: If you love flowers, this is probably an awesome scent for you. I don't love them, so this goes off to swap. If it had stayed spicy flowers, I might have liked it a lot more. I'm very glad I got to try this though, and it was a worthy purchase, so I'm happy. After reading other reviews: Yup, it's floral, just like everyone says. Too bad it doesn't work for me, as I tend to amp up or twist florals into something acky.

    Black Phoenix

Bottle (Imp): This smells absolutely WONDERFUL. It's very sweet smelling, but completely foody. I have the feeling I am going to love this one. Just On: Whoa, this is toothachingly sweet, and I LOVE it. As it goes onto my skin, it starts to morph slightly, but it's still very sweet. An hour or two later: This has faded from the sweetness to an almost sweet bandaid smell. Fresh bandaids, not gross old icky ones, but still bandaids. Around 6 hours: Still have the sweet bandaid thing going on. If this won't work on my skin, I may wind up with a really nice smelling room. 12 hours: It's a skin scent, very mild sweetness, and a little tiny hint of incense in it now. Overall: It started out very lovely, went through a few hours of sorta ickiness, and then faded out to a lovely skin scent. I think this is a good scent locket or room scent one. Maybe even a parfum spray. After reading other reviews: I'm going to guess that the sweetness is the almond coming out on me. I can't figure out what caused the bandaid thing though. I did swap this away, but only because I really really wanted to try something else. I might consider a big bottle of this even if it doesn't work on me, as I love love love the scent when I don't put it on.
  24. OriginalWacky

    Dublin

Bottle (Imp): Pine and fresh breezes. Just On: All pine. I don't do pine on my skin well. I like the scent well enough, but do not want to smell like it. An hour or two later: Totally pine. Around 6 hours: Still pretty pine, but fading. 12 hours: Very faded pine. Overall: I like pine, but not for perfume, so it's off to swaps with this one. After reading other reviews: I didn't get sweetness, or florals from this at all. All I got was pine, pine, and more pine, which is just not something I can wear and enjoy. (I have a deathly hatred of pine sol, and while this does NOT smell like that, it's still pine, and not something I can justify keeping when there are so many others I love.)
  25. OriginalWacky

    Tombstone

Bottle (Imp): This actually smells like the Old West to me. There's sand, just a bare hint of something green, and maybe a little bit of leather? Just On: The sand sort of fades, and the leather comes forward. There is still a hint of green. There's something sweet just on the very edge of this, like smelling something baking from miles away. An hour or two later: Leather, the barest hint of sand and gunpowder, and dry heat. Around 6 hours: It's pretty faded, so it's hard to tell what's left. 12 hours: It went totally away now, so I can't smell it anymore. Overall: I like this, though I'm not sure if it's the scent for me. I may have to try it on The Mate and see how it works. I might consider trading a scent I don't like for this, but I'm not sure I'd buy a big bottle. After reading other reviews: I got almost NO vanilla out of this, which is rather sad, because I adore vanilla. I also didn't really get sassafrass. If this works on The Mate, it's a keeper, if not, then it may just get swapped.
