    Ace of Pentacles

Bottle (Imp): This is very herby and a little spicy. Maybe some kind of evergreen? Just On: Spicy herbs. I'm thinking patchouli, but I've no clue if I'm even close. An hour or two later: It's already pretty faded, but I can still smell a bit of it. Around 6 hours: It's kind of turned to a body odor thing, but not so terrible as some others. 12 hours: It's pretty well all gone. Overall: This is a nice scent, but not one that jumps out and grabs me by the nose, so to speak. I don't know that I'd actually order a bottle of this, but might like to have an imp around. After reading other reviews: Well well, pine and patchouli, I had some of it right. I wasn't getting the oakmoss, or the earthy parts.

    Lughnasadh

Bottle (Imp): Apple cider. I LIKE. Just On: Mulled apple cider. I LOVE. An hour or two later: Spiced mulled apple cider, and it's Ggorgeous! Around 6 hours: Now it's faded down to more of the spices, with the apple cider fading into the background. It's beautiful. 12 hours: It's still smelling so beautifully mildly spiced, and the apple is there, but faded to the back. This just hit my top five, in nothing flat. Overall: I really really reallyreally love this scent. If this comes out again, I'll SO be buying a few bottles. After reading other reviews: I didn't get any fruits besides apple in this, and that was cider to boot, which is different than just smelling apples. It's beautiful at all stages of drying down, and I'm going to hoard this one.

    Cold Moon

Bottle (Imp): It smells like cold air. Just On: Smells like cold air with a barest hint of sweetness in it. An hour or two later: It smells like the air before it snows, chilly but not frozen. Around 6 hours: It's pretty faded now, so I can't really tell what it smells like. 12 hours: It's pretty well gone now, though I can smell the barest hint on me, as if a lone snowflake had landed on my arm. Overall: This is a very nicely done scent, and I'm as impressed as I have been with all the lunacy blends. It's mixed well, because I can't pick out ANY notes, and it truly lives up to its name. After reading other reviews: I didn't really smell the flowers in this one. Which is probably good, as my skin tend to warp flowers into something awful. I can see the comparisons to Ice Queen, but haven't sniffed Blue Moon, so I don't know how it compares to that. I certainly didn't get as much sweetness as many more folks have gotten.

    Kweku Anansi

Bottle (Imp): This is really sharp and herby. I'm thinking peppercorn scent. Just On: Sharp, herby, and the slightest hint of sweetness. It's not the fresh green herbs out in the sunshine, but rather the kind of herbs you have to go deep into the dark forest to find. An hour or two later: It's mellowed down on the sharpness, and is more herby, and maybe a tiny bit flowery. Still something rather dark. Around 6 hours: It's kind of like soapy herbs now. That's all I can really get and that's if I get close and smiff hard. 12 hours: All gone. Overall: This is a really interesting blend, and I'm fascinated by it, but I don't think I'll be wearing it enough to justify keeping even an imp around. I wonder how it would smell on The Mate? We'll see if I can sneak up on him. After reading other reviews: I didn't really get the wood notes, more like dark herbs, and then the pepper thing. I did enjoy it a bit, since the pepper didn't overtake me to the point of making me feel ill (I have a mental thing against pepper). I'll probably swap it, but only because I don't think I can love it to it's full potential.

    Tiger Lily

Bottle (Imp): I can barely smell it, but I *think* I smell a flower. Just On: Okay, there is a flower there, but this is so faint that I can barely smell it. Don't want to bury my nose in it while it's wet or I'll have a wet nose, but I just can't really smell it very much. An hour or two later: Oh, there is the flower. Something else is mixed in there, but I have no idea what. Around 6 hours: Yep, it's flowery. Not in a really bad way, but not exactly something I want to wear a lot. It's a beautiful blend, just not my style, ya know? It has lasted fairly well though. 12 hours: It went bye bye now. Overall: As this isn't my style, it's hard to enthuse about it greatly, but it is a very nice scent, that doesn't fit my style. After reading other reviews: I really wasn't able to smell the honey in this one at all, or if so, I certainly coudn't identify it.

    Desdemona

Bottle (Imp): That is *really* fresh. Very flowery as well. Just On: Watery, fresh, a tiny hint of flowers. An hour or two later: Definitely some softer flowers, nothing sharp. It's fresh and pretty. Around 6 hours: The flowers and water have combined to make pretty dryer sheets, and it's not quite so fresh, but this isn't a bad thing. It's a pleasant scent, but not really my type. 12 hours: It's alllll gone. Overall: It was pretty nice while it lasted, but like many others, not quite my type of scent. After reading other reviews: I didn't get soap or powder out of this one.
  7. OriginalWacky

    Thunderbird

Bottle (Imp): It's fresh and breezy. Just On: I get the fresh and breezy, and a hint of flowers. An hour or two later: It's still fresh and breezy, and the flowers aren't very noticeable. Around 6 hours: The flowers have gone away now, and it's just fresh and breezy, but in a slightly different way now. 12 hours: It's almost totally gone, and I have a bare hint of breezy now. Overall: It's nice enough, but I'm glad I saved my money for other scents that I love. On the right person, this is probably heaven on earth. After reading other reviews: What a shock, ozone and thuinder being called fresh and breezy <g>. A thunderstorm over flowers is a very apt description. I never got any kind of fruit, citrus or otherwise out of it at all.

    The Moon

Bottle (Imp): I'm having trouble deciding how to describe this scent. There's a hint of something ick lurking there, and some freshness, and maybe a bit of herbs. Just On: Okay, I get some herbs, and that ick thing is probably a scent that doesn't work on me, as it's much stronger now. Probably my mind telling me that it won't work, as opposed to actually being an ick thing. Maybe there is evergreen or pine in here doing this. I know those are ones I don't particularly care for. An hour or two later: The ick part mellows out and fades to the background, and mixes with the rest to make a very pleasant scent. It's got a tiny bit of sweetness, not much. It smells a little stale, but I think that's my skin, not the oil. Around 6 hours: It's starting to fade, and though I can still smell the staleness on me, it's pretty pleasant. It's like sitting out under a waning moon. 12 hours: It's almost gone now, and pretty much smells the same was it has through the last several hours. Overall: The stale thing is hard to describe. It's almost like a nostalgia thing for the full moon, once it's waning. It's not that it's really stale, it's just that the memroy of it is strong, and what's left is this wistful remembrance of how vivid and bright it was, and the remembrance is bittersweet. Once past that first ick thing that goes away pretty fast, it's a lovely scent. I could see buying a bigger bottle of this. After reading other reviews: I didn't get jasmine out of it, but someone mentioned pine, and I think I could find that. I do like it though, and as it starts to fade, it's such a wistful scent, and I feel this huge rush of nostalgia, but not for anything in particular.

    Pulse Points

Bottle (Imp): Oh, I really like this. NO clue what's in it. Just On: Still, no idea what is in this, but it's very attractive. Wood maybe? An hour or two later: I can smell some sweetness, maybe a sweet flower of some kind? Around 6 hours: It's a little sweeter now, and fading down a fair amount. 12 hours: It went away a couple hours ago, but I enjoyed it while it was here. Overall: This was such a pleasant frimp in a swap, and I'm so so happy that I got to try it. It isn't one that leapt into my top ten right away, but I imagine that it might creep up there slowly. After reading other reviews: Well, it's good to know that civet CAN work on me! And apparently the worse others get from civet, the better it works on me, because this seems like one that a lot of folks can't use at all, and yet it was gorgeous on me. What a lovely thing to find out, as I was rather frightened of civet in other things, but apparently it does work in some cases on me. Yes!!

    Ingenue

Bottle (Imp): Oh this is sweet, with something else to it. Just On: Mmm, this is pretty decent. It's not really sweet anymore, it immediately changes to something with a little bite to it. An hour or two later: Sweet, flowers, and the bite has mellowed. Maybe there is something woody in here? Around 6 hours: I like the flowers in this, they are a tiny bit sweet, and very pleasant to my nose. 12 hours: It finally faded down to a soapy powder, which is pretty decent. I'm really not a flower girl, but this is pretty nice all in all. Overall: I can wear this, but I think it would be more loved in another home, especially since I have so many others that I adore. After reading other reviews: Ok, so the sweet is the melon most likely, and I see the flowers. It's up on the auction block, as I need some funds, but it is a lovely scent, and would eventually get used around here.

    Juju

Bottle (Imp): This is a little sharp, got a little bite, and has a hint of the antiseptic smell to it. Probably perfect for some spellwork. Just On: Wood, and the little bit of sharp, and not really antiseptic anymore. I can certainly see this as being a good focus oil for some spellwork. An hour or two later: It mellows down to a nice woody scent. Around 6 hours: It's woody, and pretty. 12 hours: There's only a tiny hint of sharp wood left now. Overall: It doesn't start out perfect, but it morphs through the day as a very nice blend. I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep this around for some workings. After reading other reviews: Wow, I didn't really get any flowers out of this, and I think I'm the only one to get woodsy as well. I think it's patchouli that does the antideptic thing on my skin, but it's not such a bad thing really. I'll be trying this out for workings, and see hwat happens from there.

    Bruja

Bottle (Imp): Fresh and breezy. Crisp. Just On: Same as imp, but maybe a flower of some kind there, or some kind of floraly herb. An hour or two later: This starts to move from the crisp and fresh area towards being more sweet. So it's crisp, clean, sweet, and fresh. Around 6 hours: The crisp fresh scent has faded down into a mildly sweet skin scent. 12 hours: It smells like me, only sweeter. Overall: I guess it's not a surprise, since I'm a witchy kinda gal that this would turn to a skin scent on me. I like the way it smells, and I want to bury my nose in it and just sniff away all day. After reading other reviews: Okay, the flower must be the lily, and I wonder if myrrh is crisp to my nose. I'm fairly sure the amber is what turned this sweet, and into a skin scent.

Your Best-Bet "Must Try" Enabling Scents

Well, I guess if I were picking out a pack for somebody, as long as they had no restrictions on anything, I'd pick these: Blood. It's incensy, kinda musky, and a fairly heavy scent. Tiger Lily. It's honeyed lilies, what a nice flowery scent to try. Not too heavy, but really super light either. Swank. It's cool, not too sweet, boozy, and mature. The Apothecary. It's green, herby, and fairly light. Undertow. It's an aquatic, not terribly light, and smells much like a real lake. Bliss. Gotta include a good food scent, and chocolate is usually a hit. I'm sure I could come up with many more, but that would probably be the ones I'd start with for somebody who doesn't know what they'd like or not like, so they can look for which of these they like, and try more in that category.

    Kathmandu

Bottle (Imp): Hmm. Breezy, and a hint of antiseptic. It's actually kinda nice. Just On: My skin amps up the antiseptic scent, but it's still pretty pleasant. That must be benzoin. An hour or two later: Yeah, antiseptic. I guess I probably wouldn't wear this, but I certainly am enjoying the olfactory memories. Around 6 hours: Now my skin has made this go kinda sour. I guess my skin just HATES the idea of me enjoying certain scents. 12 hours: It pretty much is gone now. Overall: I think I would be more likely to use this as a room scent. It's a pretty scent, but my skin turns it sour, and then it doesn't like me so much. I guess you can't win them all. After reading other reviews: I think if the sandalwood and cedar had come forward more, this might have worked on my skin, but they just weren't in the forefront. I certainly didn't get the root beer smell, which might have been really nice.

    Tempest

Bottle (Imp): Oooh, fresh air, and breezes after the rain. Just On: Yup, it smells like the air after a rain, that hint of sweet, and the freshness, and just pleasant in general. An hour or two later: Yeah, fresh air after the rain, and a hint of dryer sheet. Around 6 hours: Pretty much the same as right above, but faded. 12 hours: Hints of breeziness, but mostly gone. Overall: This is a little bit like Storm Moon, in that air scent, but this is the air of a storm over a lake, when it's pretty much done raining, and the flowers from shore start to perk up again. After reading other reviews: I really don't get any citrus out of this one like others did. And I wasn't getting ocean, but rather a large lake.

    Midwinter's Eve

Bottle (Imp): Ooooh plum. Sugar plums even. Just On: Oooh, this is sweet, and I'm liking it. Sugared plums is all I'm getting, and I will NOT complain a bit. An hour or two later: Oh so sweet, and hard candy? Super sweet rock candy to be exact. I LOVE that. Around 6 hours: Still a bit of the rock candy smell (I LOVE that), and something else wants to peek out. 12 hours: Yummy yummy yummy, but starting to fade. Overall: Absolutely this is jumping up in the favorite area. I adore the sweet sweet scents, and my skin seems to love this one as well. If this comes out again, I am so buying some. I love, love, love this, and the sweetness lasts a long time on me. As in, 24 hours later, I was still smelling some of it. Yes! After reading other reviews: "Mixing up jello" is a pretty good description. I'm in love with this one.

    Oisin

Bottle (Imp): I can't really smell it. Maybe kind of glassy? Just On: Oh there it is. Windy. That's what I think of. And it starts smelling a little bit like fresh and breezy dryer sheets. My skin is so weird. An hour or two later: It's pretty faded, and it's mostly nice smelling dryer sheets. Around 6 hours: This is almost totally gone, but I guess it's still windy dryer sheets. Did I mention that I LIKE dryer sheets? 12 hours: Gone, gone, and gone. Overall: I think I might like it, but it faded pretty quickly. I guess I should try it again, but at least I have a fair idea of how it smells now. After reading other reviews: I'm guessing that the musk is what my skin turns to dryer sheets, which isn't all that bad, as I rather like them. The Irish blossoms are something I'm not familiar with, so I don't know if I found them in here or not. This was very well blended (like so many). I can't really say that I found this dead sexy as so many others did, but I enjoyed it, and would slap some on The Mate once in a while.

    Wings of Azrael

Bottle (Imp): I have NO idea what I expected, but somehow this is pretty close. It's kind of fresh, breezy, sweet, and herby all rolled up and blended very well. Just On: I can't quite put my finger (nose?) on what I'm smelling, but I rather like it. An hour or two later: Is this ? It's pretty neat. Not sure it's a scent I'd wear a lot, but I'm glad I'm trying it. Around 6 hours: This is blended very well, but it smells kind of like a sweet breeze. Maybe herbs on a breeze, some kind of sweet herbs, and a hint of flowers. 12 hours: Still the same pretty blend. My skin actually likes this one. And it seems to like me. Overall: I can see ordering this one, because I really do like it. I'm so glad I got a sample to try. After reading other reviews: Apparently I don't amp up violet, which is good. I agree that this is a fascinating scent in general. It doesn't get powdery, and doesn't go stale. What a beautiful mixture of scents this is.
  19. OriginalWacky

    Undertow

Bottle (Imp): Is that a minty thing going on here? Maybe it's pennyroyal? It's sweeter than I expected. Just On: Yeah, it smells minty, and watery (hmm, guess that would be aquatic). There's also an undercurrent of murkiness. An hour or two later: Mint and slightly murky water. This is pretty neat. The sweetness has faded. Around 6 hours: Wow, this is water that isn't stagnant, but has been standing a bit. It's not necessarily murky, but there is a hint of that in it. I could stand near the pond at my grandpa's farm, and it would smell a LOT like this. 12 hours: The last vestiges of that water. Overall: I do like this scent. I can't get over how Beth creates these scents that smell JUST like something in my life, and so dead on. How does she bottle something like the smell of not stagnant but still and almost murky pond water? After reading other reviews: I didn't get a lot of juniper, which is probably good, as it isn't one of my favorite scents. I did get the mint at first, and I certainly got the 'mud', as the water scent I had was muddy, a bit.

    Lady MacBeth

Bottle (Imp): This smells a little sweet, and sour. Just On: Putting it on, it immediately adds a bit of soapiness to the sweet/sour thing. An hour or two later: It's more sweet than sour now, and not quite as soapy (mind you, I don't mind the soap smell in certain scents). Around 6 hours: There's pretty much no sour left, and the soapiness is less enough to be barely noticeable as well. It's not sweet quite like candy, but it is sweet. 12 hours: It's pretty much gone now. Overall: I'm not so sure that this will work on my skin, but it's a very pretty scent nonetheless. After reading other reviews: Okay, so the sweet/sour thing is the combo of things, which is nice enough. I with it had lasted longer on me.
  21. OriginalWacky

    Wrath

Bottle (Imp): The oil is red, and it smells a little bit fiery. Just On: Ooh. Is that pepper? Not very much of it. And cinnamon. An hour or two later: Cinnamon with a hint of pepper. I like it more than I thought I would, which is wonderful. Around 6 hours: Cinnamon, and something a tiny bit sweet. It's pretty faded too. 12 hours: It's gone. Overall: Obviously, still gone <g>. I like it. It's spicy without being stupid, and hot without burning. I was tempted to lick my wrist. After reading other reviews: I have to agree with those who said this was RED. I didn't get nearly enough pepper to bother me, and it was a beautiful scent all the time it lasted (which wasn't long enough).
  22. OriginalWacky

    Tamora

Bottle (Imp): Really really sweet, with a bare hint of flowers. Just On: This smells like something really sweet, but I'm not quite sure what. Untrained nose and all, so I don't usually pick out notes very well. I think there is some kind of very mild flower scent as well, but I'm not sure. An hour or two later: It's not really morphing so much as maturing into a beautiful sweet scent that I'm adoring. Around 6 hours: It's getting pretty faded, but it's still the same sweet beautiful smell that I am loving. 12 hours: Just barely can smell the sweet goodness, and I think this just hit the top of my lists, or very close to it. Definitely in the top twenty at least. Overall: This has to go on the big bottle list. I've traded the imp for others I wanted, but I'll be ordering this as soon as I can afford to. After reading other reviews: I really didn't sense the amber and sandalwood, and I'm guessing the heliotrop is the faint flowers that I get. It stays very sweet on me all the way through, but so blended that I couldn't really pick out notes. This is a huge hit with me, and it's moved way up on my list.
  23. OriginalWacky

    Cheshire Cat

Bottle (Imp): This smells very citrusy in the imp. A little like the lemon in lemon pledge, but without the pledge part of the smell, if that makes any sense. It's beautiful. Just On: This goes on very lcitrusy, and my skin adds a hint of the pledge smell to it. Go figure, my skin would ruin something that I want to like. Maybe the beautiful scent will come out in a while. An hour or two later: There's still a little bit of the yuck my skin brings to this, but I don't think it's going to interfere with my wearing this one. It smells lemony wonderful to me. Around 6 hours: My skin decided to play nice! It smells lcitrusy beautiful now! I think there might be something sweet going on with it, like honey or vanilla, and maybe something floral underneath. I'm so loving it right now. 12 hours: At the end, I was getting a hint of soapiness, so I bet there were flowers in this, but I liked it anyway. This would be an awesome room scent (since my skin doesn't play nice at first). Overall: I really like it. I could see ordering more, especially to use for scenting clothes, a locket, or my room. After reading other reviews: Okay, I can see the grapefruit is the main thing I smelled, and I suppose the red currant is what gave me sweetness. Must be the lavendar that gave me the flowery part. I have to say I'm sad this is discontinued, but not as sad as if it were, say, Tamora. Yet again, Beth captures something with a scent that most people can't capture with a video camera and detailed directions.
  24. OriginalWacky

    The Emperor

Bottle (Imp): This smells very soapy to me. That's about all I am getting out of the imp. Just On: Wow. Really soapy flowers. I'm not sure this will work on me at all. An hour or two later: *CoughChoke* This is really really flowery and soapy. I can tell this is going down the road, because I don't think I can last through this part if it does get better. Around 6 hours: Still no better, though it is fading. I have yet to wash a BPAL scent off, but this would be well into the running if I were to do so. 12 hours: It's almost gone, and good riddance in this case. I don't much care for the smell of soapy shaving cream. Overall: I'm sorry to say, this was not an impressive scent for me in the least. However, if I wanted to make soap, this might just be a wonderful scent to use, and might make a really nice gift for someone. After reading other reviews: I didn't get woodsy, herbal, or citrus out of this. Just soapiness. Darn.
  25. OriginalWacky

    Sweet Almond

Bottle (Imp): So THAT is the cherry smell everybody talks about. I never get this out of blends, so I must suck it up fast or something. Just On: Really strong cherry smell, like maraschino cherries. An hour or two later: Good Gods, it's almost gone. No wonder I never smell this in other blends. It seems I really *do* suck this in and leave the rest. Around 6 hours: Oh yes, this is completely MIA now. 12 hours: Nothing left at all. Overall: I think I would really like this, but it really seems to get slurped up by my skin, leaving nothing at all. This might be a good scent for a locket. After reading other reviews: Wow, I didn't get marzipan out of this, nor did it remind me of Dana O'Shee (which is probably because my skin ate it all so fast).
