Wet in bottle - Lilac, lily of the valley, white ginger, and green tea. This is more feminine than I expected. Wet on skin - My wrist is amping the white ginger and green tea, while the lilac and lily of the valley are there, but in the background. Feminine and sweet without being too cloying. Dry on skin - There is a period during the first 2 hours of drydown where it smells powdery and soapy. After that two hours the white ginger and lily of the valley come back... confusing! I will be putting this up for sale/swap.

    L'Heure Verte

Wet in bottle - Rose water, lilac blossoms and a very faint tinge of absinthe and opium. More floral than I expected. Wet on skin - roses, lilac and opium smoke. I was hoping for more of a wormwood/absinthe smell. Let's check back for the dry down! Dry on skin - Aw man, this has turned into rose baby powder. No opium, no absinthe, no sugar, no lilac. Bummer!

    Gunpowder

Wet in bottle - Hay, molasses, maple oats and a tinge of wood and musk. This is powerful and rich. Wet on skin - Carrots, apples, maple oats and a musky, woody background. Surprisingly foodie with the maple/carrot/apple. Dry on skin - Maple oats, wood and musk. The apple and carrots are completely gone. The maple is very strong, surprisingly. I'm not sure if I want to smell like "horse treats" as someone mentioned upthread. I will give this more time to age.

    Hand of Glory

Wet in bottle - Beeswax, sandalwood, leather and nutmeg. Surprisingly dark and yummy at the same time. Wet on skin - Beeswax is very strong and sweet, but pleasant, along with nutmeg, leather and sandalwood. I'm surprised this is so sweet on me. There is the faintest undertone of oak bark. Dry on skin - Very beeswaxy-honey and nutmeg. It dries down to a sweet honey finish. Throw was decent for the first 3 hours of use or so. Definitely a unique and interesting scent.

    Fearful Pleasure

Wet in bottle - Dried orange, cider, apples and oakmoss. A very evocative and rich autumn scent! Wet on skin - Cider, apples and dried orange peels. This smells like warm, spiced apple cider! It reminds me of Vermont. Dry on skin - The warm, spiced apple cider is still primary, but some more of the wood and oakmoss have come back. I never conceived of a scent that would resemble this, but it smells delicious, crisp and autumnal.

    John Barleycorn

Wet in bottle - Wow, barley, whiskey, beer and a sort of musky burnt caramel smell. Very manly. Wet on skin - whiskey and barley. There is still the faint sweet undertone that must come from the barley. Surprisingly yummy. Dry on skin - Darn, the sweetish barley has turned soapy and powdery on me. Shoot! This had some great potential. I think I'll put it away for a bit and try it again in a little while.

    Earth Rat

Wet in bottle - Candied melon, bamboo, pine resin, plum blossom, but the candied melon is very strong. Wet on skin - Candied melon and plum blossom with peony. I hope the melon fades a bit! This reminds me some of Tanuki, as it shares many similar notes. Dry on skin - This has mellowed beautifully, the melon has faded and is a mere memory. It has a sweet peony/plum blossom scent with the lychee, citrus and a little bit of the pine resin. Yummy and fresh. I think this would be a perfect scent for summer! It's definitely more of a fruity/floral.

    Who are the authorized resellers?

So I placed an order for the BPAL stuff listed on Amazon.com and it shipped very fast! It only took 4 days from order to receive! The package shipped from the Trading Post, not the Lab, so I got some frimps plus a goblin squirt of Queen's Croquet Ground. Yummy! I definitely recommend this method for anyone wanting something GC in a jiff.

    Sticky Pillowcase

Wet in bottle - All that candy and then some - strawberry, blue sugar and candy corn are the most prevalent. The lint element keeps it from being sickly sweet, however. Wet on skin - Sugary marshmallow, strawberry, blue sugar and the linty undertone. Dry on skin - Sugary candies and strawberry. The lint adds a very faint sour note in a red wine sort of way. Its foodie and pleasant.

Chaos Theory IV: Edge of Chaos

CMLXI Wet in bottle - There’s a strong element of green peppers and chili spice, but something white and floral as well as the smell of grass and hay. Wet on skin - Green peppers, grass and an aquatic/white floral note note freshness. Dry on skin- Green peppers, grass, aquatic notes and white florals. Light and fun. Totally unique.

    Snake Oil

Wet in bottle - Spices, vanilla... could be sandalwood in there and a tiny bit of frankincense. Mmmm it smells delicious. Wet on skin - Spicy and evocative. My skin does not amp the vanilla as much. I could huff this all day. Dry on skin - This smells like the incense you smell at buddhist temples, with vanilla and sweet market spices. Yummy! I can’t wait for it to age!

    Antique Lace

Wet in bottle - Sweet, aged linens, a sweet, high white floral. Sugary and delicate. Wet on skin - My skin seems to be amping the linens and florals, without as much of the sweet. I’m cool with that. Dry on skin - The sweetness has faded some, with linens taking the forefront on my skin. The imp I tried first had a longer lasting sweetness, so I wonder if it will sweeten with age. Sweet and wistful--I love it.

    Zorya

Wet in imp - Musk, midnight flowers and primrose. Wet on skin - The primose is really amped, with jasmine and the musk. To me this smells like a more tradition, “mature” perfume. Dry on skin - The jasmine and musk have blended nicely together, with the other flowers adding a pleasant overtone. The rose is very mild, so the mature feeling is diluted and this has become a pleasant floral.

    Twenty-One

Wet in imp - This does have the faint smell of a martini, but it’s also freshly aquatic and almost has a very, very faint citrus scent. Wet on skin - I can really smell bitters all of a sudden, with that martini-esque scent underneath. It’s a gin martini, btw. Dry on skin - Yumm, gin martini, bitters with a dark citrus tinge. This is fresh without being too citrus-y or too aquatic.

    Hecate

Wet in imp - This smells like Amaretto musk. Wet on skin - A dark, musky almond. Dry on skin - Musky dark almond. Very little throw.
  16. gingiemay

    Yew-Trees

Piercingly sweet berries over evergreen boughs, deepened by the tree’s sacred wood. Wet in imp - Evergreen, woody, with forest berries, not sweet. Wet on skin - Evergreen wood and forest berries. Dry on skin - An interesting woody scent with the hint of sharp berries and evergreens. This is sort of manly.

    The Temptation

Wet in imp - Roses, lilies, peach blossom and musk. Wet on skin - Lilies and peach blossom, very faint roses and musk. This smells very floral and pleasant. Dry on skin - Just lillies and peach blossom, almost no roses. Very faint musk. Sweet and floral.

    Centzon Totochtin

The Four Hundred divine rabbits of the Aztec pantheon that preside over parties and drunkenness. Bittersweet Mexican cocoa with rum, red wine, and a scent redolent of sacrificial blood. Wet in imp - Cocoa, rum, red wine and a faint bloody tang. Wet on skin - Cocoa and red wine! Very faint rum/blood. Dry on skin - Cocoa, rum, a bloody tang and a faint red wine. Even with the cocoa, this is a more "masculine" scent to me.

    Queen Alice

Wet in imp - Carnation, cider and wine. A really unique combination. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. Wet on skin - The wine-cider notes are really coming out. There’s a smoky sweetness too that could be treacle. Dry on skin - Really interesting. I get the carnation, wine, cider and treacle. I think I will keep this imp and wear it around to make a final judgment.

    Depraved

Wet in imp - Urrrgh, I’m just not a patchouli person. This was a lab frimp, so I thought I’d give it a try... but I can’t. I get a very faint apricot from the imp, but it’s overwhelmingly a dirt/patchouli mixture. Trade!

    Obatala

Wet in imp - Wow, this really smells like coconut meat (not like fake coconut) milk and shea butter with a fresh aquatic undertone. Wet on skin - Mostly coconut milk and shea butter, but I’m pleasant surprised by how realistic this smells, and not like sunscreen. Dry on skin - Yum... milky coconut with an underlying aquatic freshness. This smells just like summer in Hawaii... the coconut is so delicious and not like sunscreen at all! Keep imp!

    Cairo

Wet in imp - This smells like a lemon-y citronella thing happening. It’s not as incense-y as I thought it would be. Wet on skin - Still lemon/citronella. Dry on skin - Still lemon and citronella, but it's less harsh. I don't know if it smells like Egypt per se, but it does smell sort of mysterious.

    Herbert West

Wet in imp - A bright, fresh, aftershave-y scent with the sweetness of embalming fluid. Wet on skin - Smells very fresh and commercial. Dry on skin - To me this smells like a masculine cologne you could get at the department store. It smells quite good, but just very commercial and generic. Since I am single and do not have a boy on which to test fragrances, this goes in the FS/Swap pile. (I think this is the same imp that skepticism got from Valerie )

    Eris

Wet in imp - Definitely wet fruits and mimosa, plus a strange sour note that must be the floral and spices. Wet on skin - This smells almost like watermelon bubble gum, but I’m still getting that funny sour foral/spice smell. Dry on skin - I think this would smell good with just the wet fruits/mimosa notes, but that sour element is still there, and not in a Sour Patch Kids kind of way. Pass.
