    India Bouquet

Origins - imp received in a swap. Wet - oh god, anise, curry….this smells incredible!! Dry - anise, fennel, coriander, perhaps a bit of saffron; India Bouquet is the perfect name for this. Foody and exotic. I love Indian food, and I really like this one. Fades too quickly though; within an hour it is gone. I layered one wrist with Snake Oil because I thought they would go nicely together, and it's an incredible combination. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

    Magus

Origins - Imp received in a swap. Wet - I am not sure what galangal smells like, but I am getting high john essence, or at least something I smell in High John the Conqueror, and cedar. Dry - Cedar. I think this confirms that my chemistry overamps cedar, because just as with Cathedral and Kathmandu, it is overwhelming everything else. Two hours in the cedar has mellowed and has finally allowed the frankincense and sandalwood through. On me, this is very similiar to Cathedral, although the cedar mellows out much sooner. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best, this rates a 3.

    Cathedral

Origin - received an imp in a swap Preconceived Notions - I love incense scents and cedar, so I was dying to try this. I wasn't planning on reviewing it right away, but then I got a drop of this on my finger when sniffing the imp, and fell in love! Wet - it smells like Holy Water, or at least it smells like being in church. Dry - incense and cedar. I love this! As a former Catholic school girl, this scent is very familiar to me and Beth has absolutely nailed it. As time passes, the cedar gets stronger and stronger until it becomes overwhelming. I love the smell of cedar, but this is becoming perilously close to the pencil shavings I have seen others describe. I have a feeling cedar is amplified on my skin, because I had a similiar reaction to Kathmandu. I still love it, but not quite as much as I did fresh. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

    Kathmandu

Origins - imp received in a swap. Wet - cedar and something kind of medicinal. Dry - Cedar is the predominant note, but it's a spicy cedar. I smell sandalwood and other spices; I think I smell some cardamom. I really like this a lot, although I would like it better if it had something with a bit of a zip in it, cinnamon perhaps or a dash of patchouli. I will definitely keep the imp, and it will go on my list of possible big bottle purchases. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

    Haunted

Origin - tested at Black Broom Preconceived Notions - I have seen a lot of rave reviews of this scent, and I love both amber and musk, so I was looking forward to trying this out. Wet Baby powder with a touch of dirty diaper. Dry Well thankfully, the dirty diaper smell went away, but it's just a powder on me. Obviously this goes on the list of scents I can't wear. I wonder if it's the black musk? On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best, this rates a 1.

    Laudanum

Origin - tested at Black Broom. Wet - Mmmm…spicy goodness! Nutmeg with sassafras, which smells almost root beery, and yet this isn't a foody smell at all. It's a delicous spiciness. Dry - It doesn't change on me at all when it dries, except that perhaps the myrrh comes out a little stronger. It lasts a long time on my skin, which is a plus. I like this one a lot. So much that I went back and picked up a big bottle of it today. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best, I rate this a 4.

    Mata Hari

Origin - imp received in a swap Wet - Coffee! I smell the coffee bean and something woody underneath; I think it's the mahogany, with a whisper of rose. Dry - the coffee is beginning to fade now, and this is becoming very lovely. Roses, vanilla, mahogany, with quite a bit of throw. I love rose blends and this is an absolutely lovely rose. I don't get any jasmine at all. It also lasts a long time on me. It's a definite keeper, but I don't think I will be getting a big bottle anytime soon. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best, this rates a 3.

    Scherezade

Origin - tested at Black Broom. Wet - I get saffron and spices, but nothing I can really name. Too perfumey for my taste. Dry - it stays pretty true. As time passes the perfuminess goes away and it's a smooth and lovely spice blend. I know it doesn't have any vanilla in it, but it has that creaminess that I associate with vanilla. It's very similar in concept to Snake Oil, only the spices are different and the overall scent is lighter. About an hour in I get the red musk...I was wondering where it was. I like this scent very much, but I don't love it enough for a big bottle. I do need an imp of it though. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best, this rates a 3.

    Xiuhtecuhtli

Wet - Orange and a touch of plumeria. Dry - a ghost of a scent. Sort of smokey, but just barely there. A whisper of orange, of incense and smoke. It's a maddening scent…so tantalizing and yet distant. Just like a ghost, when I think it's gone, it starts coming back, stronger. Smoke, incense and a touch of orange. I really don't know what copal smells like, although I know it's a resin, so that's probably the incense smell. If so, it's delicious!. I will definitely get a big bottle of this. Warm and exotic. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 5.

    Velvet

Wet - Mmmm…creamy cocoa and sandalwood. Dry - Chocolate and myrrh, which smells much better than it sounds. As it dries the cocoa fades into the background, leaving sweetened myrrh. Oh look, the sandalwood is back! It seems like the throw is decidedly cocoa and sandalwood, although on my wrists I get primarily myrrh. I know my skin ate the vanilla...it does that. This is awesome! I might go through the entire imp tonight…I'm definitely going to need a big bottle of this one. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) this rates a 5.

    Black Dahlia

Floral, but not the soft, gentle floral of rose and carnation. No this is volumptous, showy floral. The magnolia is front and center here and you can't miss her. As it dries I get whispers of the rose, amber and possibly the orchid too. A bit too much of a loud floral for me; I seem to prefer loud resins and spices with soft florals mixed in. I still can't decide if I want to hang on to my big bottle or not. I like it, but it's not something I would wear often. Dry - okay about a half hour into this, and I love it. The magnolias have calmed down, and it's a smoky floral. Not too strong, not too light, absolutely perfect. Looks like I am going to be hanging on to my big bottle of this one. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) this rates a 4.

    Sin

Ahhhh…heavenly! In the bottle and wet, this is a luscious blend of spices. Cinnamon is front and center, with the amber, sandalwood and patchouli blending perfectly behind it. As it dries the scent stays true. Spicy, cinnamony and so very sexy. It lasts and lasts. In fact, after my shower this morning, I could still smell a little bit of this. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) this rates a 5.

    Bloodlust

In the bottle - spicy dragon's blood! Wet - dragon's blood, cinnamon, patchouli and something that smells sour. The sour smell is beginning to turn my stomach. It makes me feel "off", discordant, and is effecting me so strongly that I immediately have to wash this off. I have never had a reaction like this to an oil before. Wearing it literally made me feel uncomfortable! On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) this rates a 2. ETA - Okay, this is going off to a new home, but I just had to try it one more time to see if I still had the same reaction. In the bottle - this smells fantastic! Wet - Dragon's blood and vetiver, with just a drop of cinnamon. Dry - Vetiver and more vetiver. Okay, I am not freaking out this time, and it is nice while wet, but dry, it's just too much vetiver for me. ETA2 - I spoke too soon! I am starting to get that discordant, jittery feeling again.

    Sudha Segara

Preconceived notions - Ginger and honey, two of my favorite scents. This is one I am sure I will love. In the bottle - an ethereal milk and honey scent. I adore this! Wet - it's very faint, but I do get a honey scent along with something else, the ambrosia perhaps. Dry - where did it go? This is such a pretty scent but as soon as it dries on me, it's gone. I just wanted to note that I have now tried this three times, at different times of the month, and it makes no difference. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) this rates a 2.

    Queen Mab

The first time I tried this, it was smelled soapy and faded too quickly. Still, I loved the ingredients and wanted to give it a second chance. Wet a lovely, light floral. Dry - wow, I am so glad I tried this again! Everything is so well-blended that I am having a hard time distinguishing notes, but it's exactly what I was expecting it to be, a pretty light floral scent with a smoky undertone. While the majority of my scents are darker and heavier, I have been looking for a light floral to call my own. This is it! There is probably a big bottle of this in my future. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, this rates a 4.

    Dracul

In the bottle, warm and sensuous, but with a bitter astringent top note that is off-putting. Wet - Fir…the top note is fir, and I don't particularly like it. It's a very strong fir, it almost slaps you in the face. Dry - as it dries, the fir fades, leaving tobacco and musk as the predominant notes. But it's not cheap cigarette tobacco, it's rich, fragrant pipe tobacco. I can just barely smell the orange blossom and mint, hiding in the background This is a warm, cozy, masculine smell. Within an hour or maybe less, the fir is completely gone, and the scent becomes even lovelier. Now the clove comes out to play, but very subtly. This is a comfortable, snuggling up in front of the fireplace wearing your sweetie's sweater smell, but with a touch of sexuality too. I would love to smell this on a man, but I like it enough that I am keeping the imp for me, and I might consider a big bottle down the road. Lovely, dark and complex. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) this rates a 4.

    Pele

Wet - a light ginger scent. Dry - a very, very light floral. As it dries, the ginger begins to fade. In fact I can barely smell anything any more. Pretty, but too light for me. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) this rates a 2.

    Gingerbread Poppet

Preconceived notions - I love ginger. I love gingerbread. I had high expectations for Gingerbread Poppet. In the bottle - this smells exactly like gingerbread. Not the spices, but the bread itself. It's perfect! I smell ginger, molasses, cloves, nutmeg and a touch of cinnamon. Wet - the same. Dry - the same! This is perfection! It doesn't change on my skin at all. This is such a warm, comforting scent, and it lasts on my skin for a decent amount of time. As much as I like food scents, I really don't want to wear them, but this is an exception. I can see myself wearing Gingerbreak Poppet regularly. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) this rates a 5.

    Egg Nog

Preconceived notions - I love Egg Nog! I love Egg Nog lattes at Starbucks and I love Egg Nog candles. I bought a big bottle of this off of eBay, unsniffed, because I just knew I would love it. In the bottle - mmmm….delicious! Creamy vanilla, rum, nutmeg...it's absolutely perfect! Wet - rum, nutmeg and....play-doh! Dry - even two hours later the scent of play-doh is overwhelming. I am so disappointed! On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being best) this rates a 2.

    Flame of Desire

Wet - jasmine with a resinous tang. Dry - as it begins drying it takes on an incensy scent. Could be myrrh, but I'm not sure about that. There also might be the tiniest bit of cinnamon, but I can't be sure about that either. After a while, the wood notes come out. The jasmine is still there, but it's muted. This is my absolute favorite scent! It's not as in-your-face sexy as Sin, my other favorite. It's more seductive than sexual. This could easily become my signature scent, except that it probably shouldn't be worn every day. It's absolutely gorgeous and it lasts a long time, without being too strong. Perfection! On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) it rates a 5.

    Mantis

Wet - it smells green. It's something very familiar, but I can't quite place it. Something herbal and I think I smell a tinge of spearmint. Dry-down - here comes the neroli, slipping in sweetly underneath. Dry - sweet, but not in a bad way. Neroli with a touch of amber, almost like O only less creamy. I don't get any patchouli from this at all. A half hour later the scent is nearly gone. Off to slather some more on. In summary, I really like this a lot, and this could almost be the light summery fragrance I am looking for, but it fades much too quickly. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) this rates a 3.

    Cheshire Cat

Preconceived notions - I don't like grapefruit, so I am not expecting to like this. In the bottle - grapefruit. Wet - Yep, that's grapefruit alright, but I am not hating this as much as I was expecting to. No, I don't love it and would never wear it, but it's a nice blend, and the grapefruit isn't as overpowering as I expected it to be. Dry - this is actually very light and pretty. The grapefruit is well balanced by the chamomile. Most of the oils I wear are much heavier than this, but I think I would like to have a pretty, light fragrance like this. But one that doesn't have grapefruit in it. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) this rates a 2.

    Othello

Wet..musk! As it begins to dry, I get a slight tang. And then it's gone. Oh no, not another one my skin eats! Off to reapply. Wet, more rose this time, rose and musk. I love scents that mix rose with something spicy, like rose and sandalwood, which is why I had such high hopes for this one. That tang is back...I am almost getting a headache from this. Odd, on the second application it's much rosier. As it dries the rose begins to overwhelm. It's a light rose, it reminds me of the damask tea rose oil I used to have. It's a very light scent; not strong at all. About an hour in the musk comes back. Now it's a beautiful rose musk blend, but I'm not getting any other notes. I would love this scent if it were stronger on me, but my skin just eats too much of it. I'm still looking for that perfect rose/spice blend. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) this is a 3 .

    Sacred Whore of Babylon

Another oil that smells somewhat familiar, from my old days. Wet, I'm not sure what I am smelling here, except for amber. No wait, it's myrrh. Dry, it sweetens and gets more floral. I definitely smell gardenias. As it dries the gardenia starts to fade, and I get a delicous spicy scent. Is that just a touch of cinnnamon I smell? Yep, that's cinnamon and it's getting stronger. I think I smell clove now too. Yay, I love spicy scents! I like this scent quite a bit, but I don't love it, as I do some of the others. And it does give me a slight headache, never a good sign. I will definitely hang on to the imp, and probably even get a second one, but I don't think a big bottle of this is in my future. On the wicked goddess scale of 1 to 5, (with 5 being best) 4 .
  25. wickedgoddess

    Dragon's Milk

Out of the bottle it smells fantastic; I want to drink it! But like other milky scents it fades to powder very quickly, and my skin eats what is left. Very disappointing. On the wickedgoddess scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best) 2.
