Astrology

  • Astrological Info
Athiest but always interested in alternative religions and ways of life. Born under Pisces I'm told. I'm a pale freckly redheaded Irish girl born on St. Patty's day!

    Hearth

Hearth has been a household favorite since I got it a few years ago. We try to use it sparingly, especially since a little goes a very long way. My husband wears it and it turns very masculine and tobacco-ey, and on me it stays lighter, with more of the cherry. I am out, and I could just cry Hoping for a re-issue, or that someone has some to sell someday soon!

In the bottle, I also got that "Butterscotch" smell. I wasn't too crazy about that, but as we all know, bottle smell rarely is a good indication of how it wears! Wet it still smelled buttery and sweet, but less so than in the bottle. Dry: it is very nice and smooth. Kind of reminds me of a pina colada! Creamy and vaguely pineapple/coconutty. Makes me think about cruise ships and beaches. Which is fine by me!

    Aglaea

In the bottle: pure sweet peach. Almost like schnapps. Wet: a grown-up peach. It's definitely sweet, but also has that white musk undertone to give it a little more body. Makes me think of peach spritz cookies from the Byrd cookie company! (yummy) dry: it was eaten up by my skin a little bit, but still maintains it's summery, golden charm. This is totally a keeper, and is going on my next Lab order list!

    Hearth

I bought half a 5mL of this one unsniffed because the description captured exactly what I wanted! Initially I was surprised at how sweet it smelled in the bottle. I expected it to be a bit more smokey and less cherry. This one happily mellowed out on my skin, losing some of the brash cherry and turning into the cherry tobacco and maybe some kind of liqour, like amaretto. Hearth definitely makes me think of baking cinnamon bread, a roaring fire, a brandy snifter and some Bing Crosby in the background. After my husband came home, I couldn't get him off of me And now I find him dipping into my horde to dab Hearth onto himself! It wears wonderfully on both of us. Now it's time to explain to him what "LE" means and how he can't go snooping in my horde and slathering on a scent every day.... So I will definitely be acquiring more of Hearth!

    Envy

In the bottle: Minty and almost piney. Hint of herbs in the background. Smells like a linament or salve. First applied: still minty but the herbs are coming out more. Almost a lime hint. Dry: The mint dies down a little and the herbs come forward. Less medicinal and just a clear "green" smell! (I might be influenced by wearing this on St. Patricks Day!) Reminds me of mojitos. Longevity: I have to agree with the others that this one doesn't last very long. About two hours and I needed to reapply. I think I will keep my imp's ear and use it up, but won't plan on buying any more.

    Lughnasadh

My impressions after two testings: Wet I smell honey and something sweet, like red currant or cherry. First put on, I get a sweet almost sandalwoody or nutty scent mixed with maybe vanilla and a touch of spice. The spice picks up a little after a while. During the day I get quick flashes of "honey." It really makes me think of those cinnamon honey-roasted almonds you can get around the holidays! Also reminds me of a honey almond bath bomb I got at Garden Botanika once... This imp will definitely be a keeper, and since it's an LE I guess I'll have to parcel it out for special occasions!

    Ravenous

One of my friends received this and decided it wasn't for her, so she passed a 5ml on to me. I owe her now! I am a big patchouli fan anyway, so I knew this one could be a definite keeper. When I opened it, the first whiff made me think of those orange oil cleaning products. Not neccessarily bad, but very orange-oil powerful. I could barely smell the red patchouli. So I gave it a whirl on my wrists, and once it dried, the orange oil smell mellowed out into a faint hint of orange, and the sultry red patchouli came out. This one reminds me a great deal of Vixen, but it is a little simpler. I also get a faint note of unlit pipe tobacco from it; I think it is the orange that gives me this impression. The husband caught a whiff of this on me this morning when I kissed him goodbye as he left for work. He paused, and took an extra minute, taking in the scent, and declared that it was "really nice," and that he "liked it." (the best descriptions can get from my man!) Thank goodness I have a 5ml vial of this now!

    Vixen

Vixen jumped out at me immediately at the first real-life swap I went to. It had the earthy musky notes that I really love (being a fan of patchouli). It had some "other" quality which made me nab it up. I've worn it a few times, and I can't keep my wrist away from my nose. I love having it on in the cold weather, as it makes me feel cozy and warm. It has a lovely pathcouli base, and makes me think of a musky old library in an old English gentleman's house. Vaguely leathery, and that note that I couldn't put my finger on has turned into tobacco for me. (I think this is the orange and ginger working together) Now when I wear it and feel like I'm standing in the middle of a tobacconists shop. Which for me is good! I love the smell of sweet pipe tobacco (unlit). Vixen has risen to the top of my favorties list, and always puts me in a better mood when I wear it.
