  1. What new scents from the update are calling your name?: I'm not ohmygoshmustgetnow about any of them, but these ones do pique my interest: APEROTOS EROS WHOSO LIST TO HUNT I have easy access to Asian candies, tropical fruits(mangosteen, mango, durian, jackfruit) flavored biscuits/chips/snacks, dried tropical fruits, Japanese/korean/taiwanese cosmetics brands and music/CDs. Is there anything you will like from Singapore or Asia in general? Nothing really comes to mind, but I always love little surprises I can't usually find. Do you play any musical instruments? Which ones? If not, are there any you'd like to learn? What styles of music do you play, and are you interested in learning any different styles? I used to play in the youth symphony and bands when I was younger. Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Oboe. But certainly not in fifteen years or so, now. I've always wanted to take up strings, but have neither the time nor the money. My favorite of all of the them is the stand up bass. However, if I were to pick one up, it would more than likely be the cello. Are you partial to any kind of comedy? I'm not a huge comedy fan in general. But when I do, I tend towards darker humor. I do adore Mr. Izzard. What did you do for the 4th and/or the holiday weekend? I worked, then came home and hid out with the kitty kat. Partials, samples, sniffies? I adore partials and sniffies, and the like. I have to say, though, that imps do tend to get lost (although I love them, too). Have you read anything by China Mieville, Neil Gaiman or Charles de Lint? If so, what? Like/dislike...?? blush. no... But I would love to get introduced to Gaiman. And I'm a huge Philip K Dick and Arthur C. Clarke fan, so Mieville seems right up my alley. And I'm curious about Charles de Lint. Mystery of Grace seems intriguing. Other than books/cds/dvds are there any "things" that you collect or symbols which you have an affinity for? Not so much a collector, per se, but I really enjoy spirals and ravens. And images of vintage typewriters. Well, I do collect those, but that's another thing entirely. Do you like musicals? What have you seen? What do you want to see? Any you'd like to own? I adore musicals. Have Seen: Wicked, Spamalot, Phantom, Le Mis, and a bunch of other small productions I can't think of off the top of my head. Want to see: Kicking myself for never getting the opportunity to see Rent. Want to see Hair and Mama Mia! Like to own: I own Rent, would also enjoy seeing Mama Mia. What are your thoughts on J.R.R. Tolkein? Yes, please. Would love to actually read anything. Somehow managed to miss them all as a child. If you answered that you would like recipes, are there any national or ethnic cuisines you prefer or don't prefer? I'll eat just about anything. Although, I am a cooking novice, so complicated recipes are probably best saved for people who won't botch them up... What's your favorite summer activity? Burning Man. I spend my summer getting ready for it. I go every year, and its a big 'family' reunion of sorts. Would you like a recipe booklet (homemade) for homemade smoothies and shakes? That would be lovely, but I don't own a blender, so maybe not so useful... What's your favorite vacation spot? In a car, roadtripping to anywhere. Would you like anything nostalgic? Things you loved from their childhood or maybe things you've always loved that were from a time before your own? Nothing really comes to mind here. You'd think there would at least be something, but I can't really think of any. What styles of jewelry do you like? Bold and funky? Delicate and dainty? Short necklaces, long ones, chokers? Bracelets or anklets? Let's see... Right now (and quite frequently), I'm wearing two bracelets: a silver bracelet made out of a single cut and twisted bike spoke that I've had since '96 or so, and a black rubber tube that meets up with a sterling silver bar clasp. And a large, round, hammered pewter pendant that hangs from a silver wire hoop necklace. I like to mix things up occasionally, but that's pretty typical. Silver over gold, but I do like brass steampunky stuff. Adore it, in fact. Nothing small and petite and dainty really gets worn, because I tend to break them. I always break them. I like necklaces that tend to sit at my collarbones or so, but I frequently adjust things to hang from leather or wire to make them more sturdy. Bracelets are great, but since I work at Lush, my hands and arms are always in water. And I'm a boot-wearing gal, so anklets are pretty useless to me. I'd probably shorten one to turn it into a bracelet. Does my witchee like hats, a floppy summer sun hat or something more stylish? Would you like a hand knit cap or hat? Yes, please. I adore hats. I'm big on fedoras, actually. My favorite is a black and white pinstripe that I modded with leather and pheasant feathers that I take out to the playa with me every year. But I'm also looking for a good, breathable, black, cowgirl hat. What kind of shopper are you? Do you make a budget? Planner, or compulsive? Do you like to buy what's new, special offers, only the usual? I used to be crazy impulsive, but times have changed. Quite dramatically. Now, I think about things for a long time and decide what I really need versus what I want. Non-melting candies....what are your favorites? I do like hard candies, but coffee, tea, or 'warmer' flavors, as opposed to saccharine-ey sweet candies. But don't let that stop you. I'll eat just about anything... What are you happiest about (besides SW)? What makes you feel good this summer? Any summer? I'm finally starting to find my footing again. I have a job that makes me happy, and where I am doing well. I'm learning to weld and work with metal and fire. I'm making friends. I don't cry anymore. <--- THIS makes me extremely happy. For the first time in a really long time, I fell at 'home' Do you like coffee and/or wine? Yes to both. Reds vs. Whites (which are extremely icky to my tastes), and darker blends vs. lights for coffee. I take my coffees dark (think aged sumatra) with creme, no sugar. What are your thought on World Market? Never lived by one. Don't know. I hear they have good stuff. I'd really like one of those large tea balls that can fit a bath bomb in them. Actually, a regular tea ball would be highly useful, as well. If you are a dog lover, or gigantic dog nerd like I am, would you like any breed-related items from this site? If so, which breed(s)? This is a cats-only household. Opie, she does not like the dogs. A witch wants to cheer you up. What are we cheering you up from? In other words, what are the most pressing problems you're facing right now? As I mentioned further up, I'm feeling pretty good these days. The happiest I've been in a really long time. Finding oneself and forging your own way (after abuse, and then another failed relationship) is an incredibly powerful thing. The small stuffs, they just don't get to me anymore. But, if I have to pick, not being able to find transportation to shlep myself and all my gear and structures out to the playa (Burning Man) this year, has me a little on edge. But I'm a big believer in manifesting what you need, so I have faith that I will find help in the large community down here. *Fingers Crossed* Who out there is equally challenged and would appreciate icons/banners as witchy gifts? Actually, I just learned how to make icons, and have wasted all of today doing so, so I'm pretty good on that front. Lip balm? I think I'm pretty set for lip balms. Besides, one of the advantages of working for lush is that I can just swipe some from the testers. Can you tell I'm not even remotely a germophobe? It's totally okay to smoosh up your face and make "ewww" noises here if you feel so inclined. Have you any desire to read Hannibal? Can't say that I do. But I probably would. If your witch goes to Convergence (or is bestest friends with someone, same thing), is there anything you'd love to have? I'm ridiculously out of the loop. Where would I find said info? But I'd be happy to try anything anyone thought I should... Are you freaking out over any of the discontinued scents, dear fellow Witches? Fortunately, no. For those candy loving witchees. Are there any 3 that u love and would like more of? And, are there any 3 that u just cannot stand and would not like any of? I'm a pretty big candy eater. Although chocolate more than candy. And stuff with nuts and toffee and honeys, and creamier stuffs, more than the super-sweet hard candy types. But I do like stuff like werther's or tea-flavored hard candies and the like. Not a big licorice eater or stuff with licorice flavoring, though. Oh, and I adore Mary Janes. Do you have an electric stove, and would you like a bowl and tarts to use the residual heat (and for extra safety)? Gas here. Wait, that sounded funny. I have a gas stove. Electric stoves weird me out a wee bit. What is your favorite classic fairy tale or children's story ? Where the Wild Things are. Alice in Wonderland. What of the summer update (Egyptian, Lawn Ornaments, etc.) appeals most to you? I'm not super tempted by these. With all this talk of chocolate, do you prefer milk or dark? Oh, definitely dark. And definitely no white. What's that one thing you keep meaning to get but keep forgetting or passing over? Socks. I need knee-high boot socks like nobody's business. Do you like coconut? Yes, actually. I really do like coconut, but more to eat than to smell. And I'm talking about raw or spicy coconut, moreso than coconut candies and such. Puddin' posts ebay sales of older stuff every now and then - what of the current lot are you dying for? I always check 'em out, but I try not to pay too much attention, since they always get a little out of hand. Do you tweet? Nope. Drives me kinda crazy actually. I actually blog, so I find the tweets kinda strange, but I usually check 'em out anyway. What kind of mythology are you interested in? In general, not so much. Although, I do have a thing for classic allegorical tales. Which flavors are you interested to try from the Chocolate Research Facility? Ohmygosh. Nomnomnom. I really love dark chocolates (not a white choc fan, and milks are okay), and stuff with liquors and nuts (although, not necessarily together - but that's good, too) Do you wear makeup or nail polish? Need brushes, containers, storage, mani/pedi supplies? What colors and brands do you like? I do. I'm absolutely set on brushes and containers and such. I recently discovered the magic that is mineral make-up, and I'm a big fan on cream shadows and red lipsticks. I like darker colors (purples, greens, greys, and whatnot). And nails. I love polish. I'm a reds kinda girl. All shads from bright to so dark its barely red, but I don't really do other colors. And I only do my toes. Do you like shiney hanging porch decorations like windchimes or those things that spin and swirl in the wind? I do. But I'm an apartment dweller in a really urban environment. So, no real porch time to enjoy them. Alas... Hair adornments? Ooh, yes! I love the old-style pin-up flowers and whatnots. Also little bejeweled thingies on bobby pins. Vintagey. They're lots of fun. Is there any infomercial product you're dying to try even though you know it probably sucks? I used to really want a sham-wow! But now, that I'm carless, can't say I'm still too into those thingies. And I'm actually getting sleep now, so I don't see a whole lot of them. Oh, wait. Yes, there's one. But its totally laughable... The little fold-down sit-up thingie. What are your favorite websites (besides this one, and the online shops you listed in your questionnaire)? Hmm, I'm totally a lj junkie. And etsy, too. Oh, and wikipedia. That's the most amazing site ever! If you could make your perfect scent (or at least most desired at the moment!) what would be in it? Oh, definitely sandalwood. And probably vetiver, too. With a dash of warm vanilla or tonka. Mmm, yes. That sounds just about perfect! So would anyone like to receive some original, or very much loved recipes from his/her witch? Okay, I confess. I don't cook. I can't cook. It's really, really sad. If anyone has recipes for food that requires 2-3 ingredients max, and is super easy to make (i.e. idiot proof), I'd be really excited. I really want to learn to cook. I mean, isn't it a wee bit tragic to be in one's 30s and still subsisting on salad, sandwiches, and pasta? I'm pretty sure it is.... sigh. List things you DO NOT need any more of: Hmm, since moving and completely starting from scratch, there's not much I don't need any more of. Oh, except for glassware. I have enough glasses to drink from. Otherwise, I think that's it. Is there something that would offend you if you received it in your mail/gift/email)? (as in profanity, a bad words in an email/card/music ... or a card or something with a scantily dressed man/woman pictured on it, crude/immature humor tshirts, etc ...) Nope, not really. I'm down with crass, inappropriate, and downright naughty. Unless, of course, you felt inclined to send anything racist, homophobic, misogynist, or anything of that ilk. Otherwise, sure. Why not? What do you like to snack on? I adore savory pastries, but I like pastries in general. Nuts. Cheese. Ice cream. Chips. And just to even it out (I'm not a total junk food junkie), I love fruit, yoghurt, cereal. What is the color scheme you use most when you decorate? Bedroom: Red, black and white. Lots of texture and patterns. Bathroom: Red, charcoal grey, black, with white and cream accents. Living Room: Black and grey, with eggplant and purple furniture. If you have music or DVD's on your wishlist, do you mind getting a burned copy? How about if it is original packaging but previously used? Or do you only want it new? Ooh, I'm totally down with burned stuff or used stuff. There's not much I don't want to try. Not so much into top-40 stuff, though. Who is your favorite artist? What are some of your favorite pieces of their work? I adore Mark Rothko. Large, bold, color panels. I also have a lot of art done by friends hanging throughout my house. Are you a candles person, incense person, or just a BPTP spritzer for room scents? I'm very much a candle person. Not really into incense. And I haven't tried any of the BPTP sprays, but would like to. How are you doing for BPAL storage? Need any boxes? I make and collect boxes, so I'm good. But I always find uses for boxes, so they're always welcome. I have little boxes all over. Is there any place you've visited where you feel like you left your heart there? The bay area. I liked it so much, I moved here. What one item would you just love to have that is made by a Switch Witch? I would adore anything made by a switch witch! But I have to admit a certain fondness for the steampunk / clockwork jewelery made by cyrenemyst. I have quite a few pieces on my wl, as inspiration to save my fundage. Is your abode a palace covered in fur, a disaster area ,or a neat freaks delight? Oh, definitely the first two. I'm still trying to get a vacuum, and with a long haired kitkat with what appears to have taken shedding to a whole new level, I have fur in places one didn't think it could accumulate. And now, due to the crazy schedule, the house is just... bad. Ugh. Good thing I have some days off. Are there any phobias you have that you absolutely, positively, do NOT want anything from your witch referencing? Clowns. Clowns are creepy. Mimes are pretty creepy, too. Are you a good witch or a bad witch? I'm a good witch. But after seeing Wicked, I think I'd much rather be a bad witch. Glinda was a tool. What kind of a car do you drive and would you want something you could use in your car? Rear view mirror charms, steering wheel covers (a new thinkg for the knitters ), car blessing medicine bags My car blew up on my move down here. In fact, it's still sitting somewhere outside Fresno. Sad, since I'm still paying for it. Or, supposed to still be paying for it. Ugh. I'm sure some of you remember that whole debaucle. Oh, well. The bay area is really public transportation friendly, and all the walking has been really good for me. Are you interested in Tarot or Tarot art? Yes, very much so. But I don't really have an understanding of it. I love getting my chart and cards read, and I would love to just sit down and do my own readings, but I haven't the faintest idea how. What would you think of soap samples/shampoo bar samples? (I believe the latter can be used as soap if you are not shampoo bar inclined). Or other sample sized bath/beauty products, for that matter? Honestly, I have a HUGE box of samples, and they don't get pulled out nearly enough. Mostly, they get put in with swaps and whatnot for others to enjoy. What about burnables as in candles, tarts and/or incense? Oh, yes, please! I adore candles, and mine are all getting to a pretty sad state. And I love the idea of tarts, but I don't know what to do with them. I'm guessing you need a tart burner, but beyond that, I'm sort of clueless on that front. And incense, probably not so much. I used to collect them, but they never burned, and there is something that seems to go almost 'stale' in the air afterwards. Oh, and if you know where to find dark, resiny sorts of scents for candles - sandalwood or the like, I'd be thrilled. 'Natural' scents over 'perfumey' ones, and probably no fruit stuffs or citrus, please. Who knits? Do you also spin and dye? What supplies, that you wouldn't buy for yourself, would you just love to have for that activity? I don't. I mean, I know how to, but it always turns out ridiculously ugly, and I always feel full of fail whenever I try. Which is sad, since I simply adore hand-knit and crocheted things. Do you like coffee? Whole bean or ground? Bold/Medium/Mild roast? Oh my, yes! I subsist on coffee, sometimes. Right now, I'm addicted to Pete's aged Sumatra. Dark, rich, slightly woodsy, with a slightly warm, nutty undertone. And ground, since I use a presser, and somehow managed to lose my grinder in the move. So you have enough socks and wraps... (shush, VCW!) Are there any other knitted goods you might like? Lap blanket? Fingerless gloves? Arm warmers? Little knitted animals? Silk scarf? Head band? Wrist cuff? Dish clothes? Now, just to clarify, I am in desperate need of socks. Especially thick, knee high or otk boot socks. I live in big stompy boots when not in heels (I know, no middle ground, right?), and I managed to lose my bag with all my Sock Dreams otk socks on previously mentioned move (this actually made me cry...) and my cowboy boot socks (thick on the bottom, with elastic around the middle of the foot, to keep the socks from bunching). Those really were the holy grail of boot sock. Alas.... Although, onto other knitted things. I have a serious thing for arm warmers, with or without thumb holes. I wear them year round. And socks, too. Are you obsessed with honey? If so, is there a particular kind you like best? Spun honey, flavored honeys, certain types of honey....etc. I adore honey. Manuka, anyone? I always use honey in yoghurt, oatmeal, tea. I''m using a big thing of plain ol' clover honey from Trader Joe's right now, and its nothing special, but it does the trick. I'd love to explore fun honeys again. What are your favorite materials? Or material things? Some people like jewelry, some like woods, some plants... I love leather, metal, handmade and repurposed things. Things from either a time-passed, or a post-apocalyptic future. Think steampunk mixed with Mad Max. Mid-century modern tossed up with Parisian brothels. I like kitch and oddities, with a sense of history. Is there anything you've been wanting to learn that your witch might be able to help you with? I'm constantly on a mission to learn more about essential oils and their properties. I can read about them for days. I've also mentioned that I'd really like to develop a functional understanding of tarot, as well. beer? Ooh, yes please. Although, perhaps not right now. Ooph, I've got a wicked hangover. I should have done beer instead of whiskey last night. Ugh. But I like my beers on both ends of the spectrum. Either Beligian Whites or so dark you don't have a hope of seeing through it. Think Guinness. Mmmm, tasty! I like my beer to be food. Posters, yes or no? Ooh, some of those were extremely pretty. I do have a lot of posters and arts prints in my house, although I am sort of running out of room. I especially like vintage pin-up girl or classic imagery, more monochromatic than not, reds, black, whites, greys, purples. What are your favorite animals? Or, what animals resonate strongly with you? My totem creature is the Raven. I have them tattooed on my chest, so I keep them close. Wicked intelligent, magical, misunderstood, playful. I've always had some sort of relationship with them. In fact, on the way out to the playa last year, we stopped for gas, and the largest one I had ever seen flew down from a tree across the parking lot, then slowly hopped its way across the lot, resting about 15 feet out from me. We just sat there chattering at each other for about 30 minutes. It was amazing. The bird was easily over two feet from beak to tail. Old, loud, really beautiful. So, yes, I tend to keep them here and there throughout my house. Are there any historical figures you are particularly interested in - say, that you'd enjoy reading about, or movies, etc.? Not by name, specifically, but I do have a fascination with oldtyme burlesque characters, vaudeville, midways, the histories of alternative perfermers. What, if anything, are you earwormed with right now? I'm not, thankfully, and I'm not reading other's response to this either. Lalalalalallalala. I can't hear you... What scent are you wearing right now, if any? I have remnants of Underpants on from last night. But nothing new on today yet. Would anyone like bath bombs or bath melts scented with one of their favorite Bpal scents? Ohmy, yes please! Bombs and melts are my favorite two bath things, and the chance to try them in some of my fave BPAL scents...ohmygosh. Would you like homemade cinnamon buns or sticky buns? I am a baked goods junkie. So, yes please! I'm especially a fan of savory pastries. Is there anyone here that likes Hello Kitty or any other Sanrio Characters? Not for me, thank-you Do you play any online games, like World of Warcraft? If so, what server do you play on, what's your character's name, etc.? Used to. Just don't have the time anymore. Is there a program you might have missed or show you love which is gone from the airwaves which might be found (or burned) for you by a Witch? Yes, I just had to give up my HBO, and therefore missed True Blood. If anyone has access to season 1, I'd love the chance to see it. Also, I'm a big Weeds fan (I think I stopped watching around season 4?) Would you like any recycle/upcycle supplies for your crafting? I'm mostly working with leather and stone these days (although some paper, too), so if anyone has access to old tooling supplies or punches, that would rock my world. Or, flat back stones (that I can sew into things) or stones that have been drilled through for sewing, etc. So what are people doing with their saturdays so far? Working. Always working. But if you mean weekends, I spend my days out of the shop in my other shop (doing metal work - large scale fire sculpture). I'm a pyro. It's true. Ok, for all you shower people, would you like BPAL scented soap? Or how about BPAL scented massage bars or solid scrub bars? Ohmygosh. Yes, please! I am a BIG fan of moisture in scrubs. Dolls or miniatures? Not usually. But I have to confess a major crush on Bleaknimue's crowthings. I certainly don't expect anyone to acquire one of these li'l guys, but they have certainly captured my affections in ways I wasn't expecting. Hello Kitty and such? Not for me, please. Anyone reading an amazing book right now? I'm looking for a new book to dive into at the moment, but I just finished 'Water for Elephants' and it was delightful. Old circus novel. What socially responsible site would you recommend to ALL Witches? http://www.o2collective.org/ This is my crew of friends, and my family. And they've done amazing work around the world over the years. What is your favorite anime, or if you don't like that what is your favorite animated series? Do you like villians that are funny because they are meant to be, or are you like me and love the villian that just can't seem to get his evil schemes to work? Can't say I'm really into a lot of anime these days, but I would love to track down a copy of 'My little totoro" Tea. How do you feel about it? I adore tea. I've especially wanted to try some of Adagio's teas, but never have. I'm not really a green or white tea drinker. I like black teas, vanilla chai teas, and chocolate or nutty teas. would my future witchee like to receive steampunk style jewelry? Yes, please. I have links to styles that I like, even though they've already been sold, in my etsy WL. Does your feline like catnip? Yes, she's a little catnip fiend. Especially in pillows or flat things. Salt soap bars (soap made with a large quantity of salt, like salt-scrub-in-a-bar)? I like my scrubs really moisturizing, and sugar scrubs don't quite do it for me moisture-wise, so I'm not sure about the salt. I've never tried these, though. How would you feel about homemade jelly/jam from home-grown berries? Ohmygosh. Yes, please. Especially black or raspberry. Homemade dill pickles? Made from cukes, beans, snap peas, baby zucchini? Mmm, yes, please. Based on Prior Carnivale act prototypes...which one are you truly excited about? Y'know, I haven't really had a chance to try or see any of the prototypes, so I'm not really sure. My fave from the entire serious, however, has been Boomslang (although I'm not needing anymore atm) and candy Butcher, and well, y'know. The value on that one went all sorts of crazy... Good thing I have a 1/2 bottle left. Yikes! Would it bother you if you are not the first person to receive the same gift? Imagine a Witch who always sends her favourite book, for example. Oh, not at all. If someone is passionate enough about something to share it with lots of people, I'd be honored. Pets: What do you have, and do they need/want anything? I have one long-haired, black kitty named Opel. Mostly she goes by Opie, and when she's really pouty, she goes by Mopey Opie. She adores cat treats and catnip, and toys with strings. Does anyone play video games? What platform(s)? Are there any new or vintage games you would like? No, thank-you. Twilight fans, would you be interested in any products from this Etsy seller? If so, add the items you like to your Etsy favorites and make sure your wishlist is posted somewhere for your witch. I am a twilight fan (books, not movies), and I did add a couple of those solid perfume sticks to my etsy wl. Mostly, because I just really enjoy the scent combos. And I'm a sucker for a solid perfume. Are you in need of decanting supplies, wand caps, or other scent-related paraphernalia? I'm all set. I don't do much. So, I have enough to last me for a while. Are there any single notes (likely non bpal) that anyone is dying to have/try? Ooh, I would love to try a variety of sandalwoods and vetiver, definitely vetiver. net flick or the likes gift subscriptions? A month of Netflicks vs a DvD? I might be able to use a month of netflicks, if there were no dates for it. I won't have the time until after September. But I do like used and burned dvds, too. My fiance sent me an early dvd rip of Coraline that he was given (pretty sure it's not been released yet, but I sometimes have a hard time keeping up) and I was wondering if anyone would like a copy of it? Ohmygosh! Yes, please. I haven't even had the opportunity to watch this yet, and it kills me! If you were to make a seasonal mix CD for this summer, what would you name it? I've made a couple, and sadly, they're called "Lush", which lets me know they're ok for work. Otherwise, if I made one, well, let's say two, one would be for walking everywhere called "Go, Kitten, Go!", and the other one would be for bathtime called "Sleep, Kitten, Sleep..."
  2. Help for my witch (take #2) This is a combination of stuff I'd love to try and things so cute they make me giddy. And by no means, do I want you to feel like you have to get anything off this list at all. It's a fun way for me to keep track of stuff I like, as well. Lump of Coal

The years definitely do not detract from the dark, gooey, sticky, fudge-brownie loveliness that is Lump of Coal. I usually have to slather myself to be able to smell things after dry down. This is the first scent of any I've tried that I could smell all day. Wafts of brownie kept coming up past my nose whenever the fan rotated towards me, and it was delicious! And it's still there after 14 hours! Although I do admit it is quite faded. But it got me through an entire work shift. Plus, I only used a small swipe on each wrist (with one on the girls for good measure), since I don't want to go through the imp too quickly. It didn't morph on me at all with time, which was just perfect. Amazing throw for me as well. This is definitely top 2 favorites material. It might even have usurped Underpants as #1. Only time will tell.

    Herr Drosselmeyer

I got an unexpected opportunity to try this out at work the other day. Turns out the first person I've enabled with BPAL happened to come across a bottle and brought it in for me to try. Not knowing anything about the scent, I got a very deep, rich, almost heady scent out of the bottle. It instantly had the feel of a dark, smoky lounge - in a good way. On, I immediately got the tobacco. And something woody. But not like the wood in Ventriloquist's Dummy. It feels almost spicy. And I get what must be leather. I've been wanting to try something with leather in it for a while, and I definitely get that here. When my boss walked out, I found myself trying to describe this scent, and BPAL in general, to him, and described this scent as "a man smoking his pipe after dinner in an elaborately done parlour with floor to ceiling mahogany bookshelves with beautiful leather sitting chairs and velvet curtains" He sniffed my wrist and replied "I can see that" I bet it would be absolutely fantastic on a man, and it's pretty darn nice on this gal, too. The drydown was nice, as I got a lovely spice and leather scent, and the smokiness cooled down a little for me. I didn't get the cherry or dried fruit that others mentioned, but I'm not sure which year I got to try. I would definitely wear this again, and might have to get more adventurous with the leather/smoke scents after all.

    TKO

I just got my bottle of TKO last night, and thought "well, it's almost bedtime, I'll put some on, write a review, and hit the sack. I brought my laptop out to the sofa, put on a bad movie, and woke up when the alarm went off in the other room. I don't remember smelling it. I don't remember falling asleep. I don't remember much of anything! I know. Not so useful as a scent review, really. But I think that speaks wonders for the powers of this blend. I am a certified insomniac. I've had trouble falling asleep for almost a decade. Tried prescriptions, sleep-time bath stuff, teas, OTC meds, everything, and nothing has knocked me out that fast and left me feeling refreshed and ready to go in the morning. I think I need to get about 10 back-up bottles of this stuff. Ohmygosh!

    Beaver Moon 2007

In the bottle: Cheesecake (maybe graham cracker?) and cheap cherry candy. 5: I'm not too sure about this. It's a really cloying, sweet, sticky scent. It reminds me of thick, gooey, cherry-pie filling. Actually, those same cherries are frequently put on top of cheesecake... Hmmm. 10: Yay, morphing! I'm finally starting to get that strawberry ice-cream scent others mentioned. Dry: It's getting really pretty now. A super-soft, sweet, creamy, almost breezey berry. Did any of you have that strawberry shortcake™ doll that released a cloud of strawberry-scented air when you squeezed her belly? It feels like that. And I think I love it! This lasted a really long time, and just got prettier with time. A definite keeper!

    Sugar Moon 2008

I'm unfamiliar with most of the notes in this. But I'll give it my best shot. in the bottle: Is that booze? Wait. Celery. Definitely celery. Wierd. wet: It's still freshly-cut celery. 5: okay. now I'm getting the sweetness and the booze. Its almost like a really soft, boozey caramel. 10: This has turned into a really soft and complex scent. This is where my unfamiliarity with the notes gets me though. I can pick up different hints of things with each sniff, but I'm not sure yet. Dry: It's all really subtle. Almost like catching wafts of picnic goodies in the breeze. An hour or so later: omg This is gorgeous! It has turned all sweet, and sexy, and playful on me. I just wished the throw was a little longer. Its gorgeous now, but awfully subtle.

    Midwinter's Eve

2007 edition in the bottle: pink gum! It's that scent that wafts up when you unwrap a big piece of bubbleyum. Ripe, and sugary, and pink! wet: This immediately calmed down. I still get that sugar pink scent, but its creeping into sweet, ripened red fruit. If you could see a color wheel, its crossed the path from neon pink, to pastel pink, to a glittery dark red. 5: The bubblegum sweetness from earlier is gone now. I'm getting the ripe plum, and something that I can't pinpoint that feels herbal or light floral. 10: This is moving toward a dried fruit and floral. Hrmph. dry: Not too sure about this one. I thought I was going to fall in love. But it went from being sweet, sugary ripe fruity goodness, to a perfumey sweet floral on me. I will have to keep trying it to see if maybe my chemistry is just off now (I hope, I hope)

    Love's Philosophy

Vanilla, saffron, and cream. I figure I love the taste of saffron, so why wouldn't I love the scent, too? In the bottle: It took me a second to figure it out, but it definitely reminds me of a spicy cream soda. Wet: omg!! this is definitely a warm, spicy vanilla. 5: Yay, it's the saffron finally coming out. It's official. I'm definitely a fan. It blends with the vanilla to make a nice warm, snuzzly scent. This is one of those scents that make me smile. 10 and on: This isn't changing much on my skin, which is perfect! Every time I sniff my wrist, I have an instant craving for a soft, comfy, fresh-out-of-the-dryer warm blankie. I definitely love this, and imagine I'll be reaching for this quite a bit. But I found this new love one day after they came down --Oops! So, if anyone didn't love it as much as they thought they would... End result: love, Love, LOVE!

    Monster Bait: Closet

Wee! My first review from the Monster Bait series... In the bottle: Smells like booze and creme. Not getting cake or berry yet, but we shall see. Wet: Definitely booze. Now I'm getting sweet cream cheese? 5: Ooh, it's getting springy. There's something tart coming up. Could that be the red berries? I hope, I hope. 30: Ah, things are finally balancing out, and I can detect different notes with each whiff. Alas, still not getting much of those red berries I love so much, but I am getting a really yummy blend of baked goody sweetness, with the passing boozey whiff. Not a lot of throw, but it seems like an intimate, self-indulgent sort of scent. It's the first time I've ever wanted to gnaw on my own wrist... (why does that feel like such an exciting moment?!) I'll keep trying it out to see if I get more berry at some point.

    Mr. Nancy

In the bottle: crinkled nose and smooshed face-inducing bitterness. Can't even detect specific notes at this point, but it just smells bad. Wet: I'm getting musty citrus. Not loving it, but the scent is starting to mellow, and the soft cookie scent is starting to come out. Dry (about 45-60 mins): Ah finally! soft gentle cooke scent, with a little bit of lime and booze. And then... gone! completely sucked up by my skin. No wafting goodness, hardly any scent on my wrist once it morphs into something so yummy. Alas, I'm pretty sure this one is headed for the swap pile.

    Freak Show

I'm still learning how to break down individual notes, but when I put this on, I instantly got chocolate and lemon. They felt like they were fighting on my skin, and I was getting this bitter undertone while it was still wet. Once it started to dry, it got a little spicy and flirty. The citrus had mellowed (thankfully!), and I was left with what must have been a combination of the musk, fig, with a little bit of tonka. After a while, it had turned deliciously warm and foodie on me. I couldn't stop sniffing my wrists at this point, and was glad I decided to pick up a bottle unsniffed. Pretty long-lasting. I definitely think I will get a lot of wear out of this one.

    Schrodinger's Cat

Wee! My first review! I received this as a frimp from another forum member. When I read the description, I didn't know what to think of it. Lavender is usually a nite-time scent for me, and I don't usually love citrus scents as much as I want to. But somehow, I think this will get a lot of wear. In the bottle: Sharp sugar-ey citrus. Almost like country-time lemonade mix, with sugar added. And definitely some grapefruit in there. Wet: Pretty straight-up citrus. I'm still not great at picking out individual notes yet, but this smells like citrus fruits, cut in half, and dipped in sugar sitting on a plate. Dry: I love this! Definitely a springtime or summer scent, but its calmed down quite a bit, and I can definitely smell the lavender now, with wasps of citrus. Didn't get the mint at all, and I get what 'might' be chocolate, but only on occasion. For me, this is a walking in the park, having a picnic, lounging around in nature on a summer day sort of scent.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

Thanks, I've only managed to mix up all the columns twice. I can't seem to get my sorts to apply to the entire sheet, as opposed to just one column, leaving all the others in thier previous orders. More experimenting in order...
