    The Black Apple Of Saturn

Arkansas black apple looks quite interesting, it’s not a variety I’ve seen here in TX. This perfume definitely seems “black” or at least “dark purple” in its overall vibe. Lots of dark mysterious resinous notes. Like opoponax, myrrh, galbanum…so, this isn’t a foodie apple scent. Not at all. It’s much more of a sensual perfume that happens to have an apple note. As well as a quince note, because that’s present as well. And the black myrrh adds warmth, gives it presence, makes it full-bodied. I like how the resins and the fruit notes play together. Kind of veers between sweet and powdery, to more tart, and then back to sweet. Will use up the decant for sure.

    Palus Putridinis

Definitely has that sluggish, marshy feel! The oakmoss is earthy and wet. The patchouli is fairly soft and sweet, and the leather and vanilla are even more faint. I’m not really getting any clove, cumin, or vetiver. There’s no sharpness to this scent at all, it’s muffled and constrained by the overall murky dampness. I like it but don’t love it.

    Apple Macchiato

Dark earthy espresso, with swirls of apple syrup. A light dusting of cinnamon – the cinnamon is NOT overpowering in this blend - and background hints of caramel topping and brown sugar. So this treat is sweet, but not overly sweet, which is really how I prefer my coffee drinks. The strong coffee and apple flavoring are the stars. I would order this drink on a perfect fall day.

    Raspberry Apricot Sufganiyot

What's not to love about this jelly donut -esque baked treat, the jelly here being tart raspberry and apricot, both notes equally represented. A dusting of powdered sugar on a pastry fresh out of the fryer, crispy edges, with a hot and pillowy soft interior. Too foodie to actually wear frequently, but it’s so delicious.

    Peach Vulva 2024

This is a light, summery scent. There’s peach, but it’s not in your face juicy peach. It’s just nice and airy, and so is the lotus, which is a surprise since it can go REALLY strong Kool-Aid on me. I’m not getting a cream note or the orange blossom. Just a really light, pretty peach and lotus pairing on my skin. I don’t think I need a bottle but I’ll use up the decant this summer for sure.

    Fig Vulva

I often equate fig with earthy, cozy, blends, but here the guava makes it so fun and summery! And patchouli always pairs perfectly with fig. I wouldn’t say I’m getting any almond, sandalwood, or hay. Overall it’s a cute, fun blend and I’d love to see more guava-forward scents from the lab!

    Loaf

OMG BREAD. This is so accurate it’s making me hungry. I instantly get notes of rosemary, caraway, and rye, as well as the bread itself with a thin layer of butter and a sprinkle of sea salt. It’s amazing how real this is. It starts off very savory but later a sweetness comes out. That phase is also really nice! I don’t think I’d get a bottle because my students would try to eat me lol. But I do love it.

    Amicitia

I received a tester frimp in a swap and I love getting to try it, but I’m only getting very faint chaparral and cedar with maybe some fig. Now I’m curious, maybe it ages badly or maybe I need to get my hands on a larger amount. I want SAGE and HONEY in my FACE y’all!

    Black and Red Candy Canes

Anise, clove and definitely some mint as others have said. Evil candy canes, definitely! All backed by warm red musk, which can amp on me but isn’t this time. I’m not really noticing opium or patchouli. The spices and peppermint should be soothing but ultimately are kinda fighting with each other on my skin. Off to swaps where it’ll behave better for someone else.

    Delightful Gargantuan Vagina

I’m dead, this is everything. Not a juicy sweet mango, more like dried. The mimosa adds a tartness and the sugared orange blossom and sweet incense result in a tropical, fruity floral that is just so gorgeous. And I could swear there is a touch of hot red pepper flakes in this too! Is that my weird skin chemistry? Is it the pink musk? I don’t care, the spiciness reminds me of eating mango with Tajin, which is so funny and fun. This is going on my big bottle wishlist for summer immediately.

    Ae. Aegypti

Honey and dragon’s blood are the strongest notes right off the bat. However, I also notice something “off” and I think it’s the orchid having a weird interaction with the gingergrass or the turmeric. This note combination is taking my attention away from the honey and dragon’s blood and not working on my skin. Just bad luck for me. I’ll send this tester on to someone else.

    Ruddy Daggerwing

Coffee and tobacco, breakfast of champions, ha. But there’s also hints of unsweetened cacao, ebony, and orange that add smoky, woodsy, citrusy depth. The orange is like a dried orange, not juicy. And now that I’ve googled osage orange, I see it’s nothing like the traditional orange I’m picturing. I typically don’t wear blends with tobacco (or weed or alcohol) as I work with kids, but this is so well blended, smooth, and elegant. I don’t think the tobacco is super identifiable and I really love the overall vibe. Others are saying meat and bbq but I don’t get that, just a bit of smokiness with the tobacco and ebony, but that’s well balanced by the cacao and orange in my opinion.

    Pomegranate Vulva

A carefree, gorgeous collection of floral and fruity notes that make me think of vacation and fun! The plum and pomegranate are juicy and fresh, and the ylang ylang, honeyed amber, labdanum and tuberose give it a girly, flirty vibe. This will definitely be going on my big bottle wishlist.

    White Chocolate and Taro Cream

Rich white chocolate, maybe a little less sweet than I envisioned but very luxurious and creamy. And then I was expecting the taro to be a lot sweeter, because when I get taro bubble tea it has that “Fruity Pebbles cereal milk” flavor that is so fun and nostalgic of childhood. This taro is more earthy, starchy, similar to sweet potatoes. It also feels like there is coconut in this blend somewhere. So, overall it’s not what I expected, it’s more grounded and less sweet treat. But I dig it!

    In Omnibus Caritas

This is a lowkey, understated scent that’s really lovely. The honey, mallow, sugar and vanilla are all sweet besties vibing together, and the touches of sandalwood and orris keep it from being cloying or too foodie. Makes me think of babies and mothers, that gentle sweet kind of love between them. I guess it’s not available as a 5ml which is too bad.

The Obsequies of an Egyptian Cat

A lovely resinous incense blend, sweet, dark and smoky. The myrrh, labdanum, terebinth, and patchouli are most present on my skin. In the background you have soft powdery honey and cardamom notes. I’m not picking up any cacao or rose. But there’s still plenty going on. The Egyptian Cat’s dark, mysterious vibe is going to have me reaching for this decant often.

    The Lady of Shalott

An aquatic floral. I put off trying because I used to really dislike the “aquatic note” on my skin, like 10 years ago. But I received this as a frimp and it’s actually just fine with the gardenia and muguet being prominent. I am not really noticing the ginger at all. The aquatic note is definitely there but it just is what it is, no weird reaction. Yay for changing skin chemistry!

    Our Lady of Pain

I’ve seen a lot of hype about this one and I’d say it lives up to it. The patchouli, opium and lavender are beautiful together. Sweet, medicinal, and it has a Sen-Sen licorice candy vibe as well. The orchid and blood musk come out a bit later. It’s all so well blended, I think I didn’t notice them at first. I’d wear this every day but also wear it to sleep because it’s so pretty and soothing. Adding to my bottle list for sure.

    Melon Cream Cake

I think this is the first honeydew melon scent I’ve tried. It’s so pretty! Very realistic honeydew note, and the whipped cream and sponge cake are sweet, light, buttery. This is such a happy scent. I’d wear it all summer! Adding to bottle list.

    Personent Hodie

This blend is all smoky resins but also has a soapy-clean note. The olibanum, styrax and myrrh are just beautiful. I am not getting any cassia. Lots of smoke, maybe some wax, so much myrrh. I’m not really getting any pomegranate or currant either! This is just pure incense and candles on me and I am not complaining!

    Grasshopper Pie

I bought this bottle “unsniffed” and am happy with that choice! I just love mint and chocolate together. And this is like an Andes Mint in a bottle. RIch velvety chocolate and strong mint. A very genuine creme de menthe liqueur note. This is a super sweet, super foodie scent, and I love having it on my shelf!

    Beaver Moon 2023

The Beavers are never very strong on my skin. This one is a little more so than most, but still not super strong. There’s a true cheesecake note (very sweet, a little sour/tangy), plus I think I’m getting a slightly cinnamon-spiced graham cracker crust. The matcha is sweet like a Starbucks matcha, and has that distinctive powdery green tea scent. I was hoping for a winner by taking a chance on another Beav, and I’m glad I did!

    Gardenia & Labdanum

Oh that’s nice! The gardenia is a little bit overtaken by the sweet, woodsy resin that is labdanum. But I enjoy labdanum so that’s no issue, and the tropical flower is still quite lush. Makes me think of chilling on a wooden deck in Maui, enjoying a sunset, having some incense burning, maybe a cocktail. A very relaxing scent. Want a bottle.

    Eostre of the Dawn

Similar to New Orleans with the jasmine and honeysuckle, but less sharp/spicy, thanks to the sweet milk note and the subtle warm musk. I love cream florals and this is a lovely, feminine scent. I have a lot of jasmine blends so I don’t need a bottle, but I’ll enjoy the decant.

    Coffee Bean & Caramel

I agree with reviewer Soupy Twist who said this is like a Turkish ground coffee and very similar to Caffe Mille et une Nuits, which I love and am almost out of. So that works out nicely for me. The coffee, rich and bitter, with the addition of the burnt sugar, buttery swirl of caramel, works so nicely.
