I’ve tried several of these serpent/snake blends now, and they always make me seek out more! Here we have the syrupy vanilla spike of Snake Oil with soft rose. The snake is strong on me, the rose is not super present. It’s there, but very subtle. Can’t go wrong with these blends, but I don’t think I need a full bottle.

Nice almond milk tea with rose petals. It’s light, not crazy-sweet – definitely more almond milk than condensed milk. No tapioca that I can tell. Overall this is a pretty, calm, all-purpose wearable creamy rose blend.

Onnagata Making Love at a Tea House as Mane’emon Watches While Holding a Kite

The tobacco flower is strong, with a hint of citrus from the orange blossom. So on me, this has a masculine cologne vibe. Clean, crisp, sharp. I get autumn leaves, no patchouli. It’s OK, I’ll have to let my husband try it on.- 9 replies

Couple Engaged in Intimate Acts as the Man Pours Tea

Wow, this is different, and so addictive. Warm rice with jasmine tea. There’s a strong smokiness. I don’t get yuzu or vanilla – this is more savory on me. It’s like straight up unsweetened jasmine tea and a bowl of rice. I LOVE it. -
This is like a sweet, fruity kids’ cereal chock full of marshmallows. Think Fruity Pebbles and Lucky Charms in a huge bowl in front of Saturday morning cartoons. After a minute the pomegranate syrup comes out - red, fruity and sweet. This is cute and nostalgic but I’d prefer it to be a bit stronger.

Wow, I forgot how much I love the lab’s plum blends. So bold, lush and fruity. Here the plum is combined with the sweet and sour ume blossom and a touch of medicinal lavender that I mistook for basil because it’s so herbaceous. I’m not getting any clove or honey. Very a nice, a keeper!

The red berries bring out the fruity qualities of the ruby chocolate, while the passion flower accentuates its floral aspects. I’m not getting any leather, moss, or balsam. Just a fruity, creamy, lightly floral ruby chocolate. Realistic and nice!

A soft, subtle perfume that whispers of vanilla and sandalwood. More sandalwood than vanilla, so it’s not very sweet or anything. Maybe the suggestion of tobacco in the background? Pretty but too subtle for me.

I’m sick right now and I find this blend so soothing and calming. It’s mostly lemon myrtle and lavender on me. Cool, herbaceous, and a little sweet. Not too heavy. I’m not getting any ylang ylang, tangerine or sandalwood, but that’s fine!

Every time I think I have enough “Snakes in the…” I try a new one and don’t know how I lived without it. Here, the vanilla and incense of Snake Oil blend seamlessly with cooked berries and a realistic buttery baked crust. I don’t really notice ice cream or molasses, but this is just so good. You can have Serpent in the Berries, the Sufganiyots, and still need this - they’re all unique and lovely.

On first try I really did not care for this. There is a tart, juicy pomegranate mixed with a sickly floral and almost mildew note. And it’s bizarrely nostalgic because it smells like my late mother in law’s house, which had some flooding issues and sometimes just smelled damp. (I promise I loved going to her house regardless, ha! It was a good nostalgia!) I decided to give it another try before swapping, because I have allergies and my nose hates me sometimes. I do like it better this second try. I think the “mildew” is actually the ink note. It’s kinda damp and dark. It really keeps the pomegranate from being overly sweet. It’s tartness is highlighted. So maybe second time’s a charm – I’ll hang onto it awhile.

The strongest note on my skin is a gentle, clean lavender. After a few minutes I also get very soft patchouli, vanilla and sage. It’s so gentle, relaxing and comforting. I’d definitely snag a bottle if it became available!

A wintry holiday blend with fir needles being the strongest note on my skin. Green and peppery, as starbrow described. Next comes the tart sweetness of bayberry and mistletoe. The oak is a solid background note. I’m not getting any myrrh whatsoever. This doesn’t feel like an incense blend to me, but it’s nice as a Christmas mood fixer - sweet, cozy, cheerful.
-
Since I grew up in Michigan, I needed this for the nostalgia. It’s very apple cidery - both tart and sweet. I’m not getting much cinnamon (the donuts are sprinkled with cinnamon sugar) or much in the way of donuts (I was expecting like a fried dough note.) After a few minutes the cinnamon does start to come out more. It’s still straight apple cider on me, but I think that’s ok.

Spicy vanilla Snake Oil, plus buttery (at first SUPER buttery, but it fades) vanilla cake with sweet coconut frosting. The coconut and Snake Oil are perfectly balanced. Love it!

A true blend where no single note stands out. I get maple leaves, honey mead, and corn husk – bitter and green. I don’t really get the vetiver or pumpkin though. The honey mead gives the whole perfume a sweetness that makes it “honey tinged sunlight” as ghoulnextdoor said. It’s a warm fall day in the woods, maybe at a Renaissance faire. Very unique.

Warm chocolate and sweet dragon’s blood resin. I instantly need a bottle! I love dragon’s blood, it’s so spicy and sweet, and blends perfectly with the chocolate. Not a foodie blend – more!

Mainly lush, juicy peach, with warm red musk. Then there’s lovely supporting notes of fig, vanilla, amber and patchouli. It’s not as strong as I anticipated, actually “shockingly light” as violetchaos said. It’s fun, fruity and sexy. I wouldn’t call it “filthy” since it’s such a light scent.

This decant is so thick and blood red! The plum musk is STRONG. Warm, sweet and sour plum, overripe and almost rotten. I’m not picking up any roses, lily or anything else. This is a 9-year-old decant and I’m not sure if the overripe aspect is intentional or due to age. Will frimp.
-
I’m getting a spicy, sweet nightblooming jasmine, dry orris, and unsweetened coconut. Not getting any lemon peel or eucalyptus. So we have a white coconut-floral blend. It’s pretty, but not quite for me. Kind of old timey – I think orris is really hit-or-miss on me.
-
At first, a slightly soapy floral and frankincense blend. The lemongrass and bergamot might be giving it the soapy vibe. It’s citrusy but in a subdued way, not very bright or sparkly. I’m not getting ANY ginger. Now, this IS a 15-year-old decant, but it’s really too subdued, not popping enough. Will frimp.

It’s Snake Oil paired with a gentle synthetic strawberry (compared to the realistic, tart strawberry of Pink Moon ‘24.) Sweet and darkly syrupy. Where Pink Moon is cheerful and cute, this blend is alluring and sexy. I love them both!
-
This blend doesn’t immediately scream “strawberry.” There is the overripe, macerated strawberry note, but the incense, black tea, and cacao notes are equally strong. After it dries, the cacao and incense remain the strongest notes, with just slight hints of strawberry and tea. It reminds me of these cocoa bath bombs I used to get, kind of a warm, cozy, powdery cocoa incense. Nice but you probably want to look at Strawberry Moon if you want BIG STRAWBERRY.

Pink Moon 2024 - Strawberry milk is so trendy with my students right now haha. They will love this. It’s super sweet, but also has the realistic tartness of fresh berry. So pink and cheerful! Love it.

I just reviewed another scent, Second Sight, that was a lilac candle on my skin. This is also a lilac candle, but it’s sweeter, less sharp. I’m not sure what broomcorn smells like but maybe it’s got a sweetness to it? In Second Sight, the lilac is stronger. Here, the beeswax is stronger. So it’s really got that waxy, creamy overall vibe. Whatever is adding such lovely sweetness to the lilac and beeswax makes me favor Vigil over Second Sight just slightly.
