    Dislikes - 2017

Known fragranceallergies: cinnamon / cassia olive pollen/fruit (Anaphylaxis bad) sage General dislikes: Incense COCONUT (I despise anything 'tropical coconut'/suntan lotion/Piña colada) Dark musks (white & skin musk OK) Crystal sugar notes Red fruits that turn into "fruit punch" Iris & Orris get powerfully amped on my skin & give me a headache Mind, I'll like anything I'm not allergic to if balanced well with the right things. That said, I will never like these: Brimstone Snake Oil (and all of its derivatives in the snake pit)

    Slippery Poppy Tincture

I'm using an aged imp. Not sure if I reviewed this already. I'm really liking this right now. There's a nice poppy and green undertone. And a sweet note that pops up now and then. It fades to only poppy on me

    The Red Queen

in the bottle: cherry cough syrup, specifically the "tussin" type. Not cherry dayquil (yes, I sniffed the ones in my medicine cabinet) wet: cough drop cherry, sweetness and...something a little warm. before it fully dries, the warmth turns into woods. maybe a little cedar-y. dry: cherries (real ones! the dark ones), that wood smell, and faint sweet something (like remembered cookies) aftermath: faintly cheery and almond. No more sweetness

    It's been a while

I've moved and lost my job and had a whole heck of crazy happen to me in 2010. I really haven't had time to review too much. I certainly haven't had any time or money to buy anything. That said, I have an hour today. And I have a stash of untouched imps and a few 5mls that I never got to sniff. So, I figure I'll review a couple today. Sounds reasonable, right?

    Anne Bonny

Note: My nose doesn't register Sandalwood. It's a genetic quirk. So, take my review with the appropriate grain of salt. In the bottle: A little bit of sweet, moist earth. incense (unlit) and faint wood smoke Wet: much the same as in the imp, but the earth is no longer sweet. Dry: faint incense (my roomie says it's strong incense, thus meaning it's very sandalwoody) & something "green" Aftermath: Ok, this scent confuses the heck out of me. My allergies aren't set of by the incense. The sandalwood "blank spot" leaves all the secondary notes to play. I know I'm missing a lot of the scent. That said, it isn't bad.

    Rose Cross

Honestly, this is rose all the way through on me. I was hoping for a little something else in it. But, my skin apparently is not amenable to that. Rose, rose, rose.

    Beaver Moon 2007

'versary In the bottle: liquid baked goods Wet: buttercream frosting, strawberry baked goods. I wouldn't say cheese cake, but it's close Dry: vanilla-y pound cake & strawberry butter cream frosting Aftermath: white cupcakes with strawberry frosting & an occasional cherry note. still on 3 hours later I want to eat my arm. This is so delish!

    Absinthe

In the bottle: Tussin cough syrup- original flavor. With a slight woody lingering note. Wet: still tussin, but the wood note is stronger, and the sharp note of anise is coming out. Nose tickling in its sharpness. Dry: Oh thank goodness, no more tussin. Wood, sharp anise (not licorice in the candy sense at all), something almost lemony with mint, but really - AHA Lemon balm & mint! Aftermath: There's not much staying power for this on me. a faint green drift of mint. My roomie swears it smells of Sandalwood. Which it must, as I can't smell sandalwood too well. LOL I was really not expecting to like this, but I do

    Jailbait

imp: pink bubble gum. very strong bubble gum Wet: more bubblegum! It smells like the classic flavor of that sugarless gum. What's it called? Dry: spicy gum. The spice is definitely from cinnamon oil because I'm having an allergic reaction on the site. Which is a damned shame, because I love how spot on the bubble gum note is in this.

    Sulking

I'm so sad Tweedledee doesn't work for me. I didn't think there was such a thing as too sweet for me. I love sugar. But, it failed on me. I'm slowly working my way through my box of Imps & reviewing them, one or two at a time. I've reviewed all of my bottles. I'm flat out broke, & behind on rent. So, there's no hope in the near future of buying anything. Luckily, my box of imps is large. So, I'll have entertainment for a long time with it. I'm disappointed that so many of my "high hopes" are turning out to not work on me. But, I guess in the long run, that's easier on my pocket. It's starting to look like my tropical fruits are limited to pineapple & kiwi, & my citrus to oranges, lime, & lemon. Lemongrass over lemon as well. Most non berry fruits turn bad on on me as well. Some melons work though. I guess this is why I never wore little girl perfumes when I was a kid. They're all jumbles of fruits. My first perfume was Charlie white. watermelon, violets, sandalwood the only thing that didn't work so well for me in that was the jasmine. I'm told it reeks of sandalwood, but, I can barely smell sandalwood. So, it's no wonder I liked it. Anyway, back to the search.

    Slippery Poppy Tincture

imp: It's a tincture! a green, herby tincture with honey for sweetness. I remember making medicine like this smell when I was in my hippie phase. Good times. wet: mmm, the poppy note is coming out & melding with the honey, sweet poppy, almost candied for a second, the the honey mellows. the herbs remain constant. dry: poppy, herbs, no more honey. It's tending more towards a spring day in the poppy fields than medicine now. I definitely like this one.

    Tweedledee

imp: sweet fruit, slight citrus, floral, and something that reminds me of wax lips (weird, but the more I think about it, the more spot on it is) Wet: the kumquat note comes out, but there isn't a lot of rind/zest to it, which is really what sticks out in a natural kumquat for me. The floral note turns sickly sweet on me really fast. Dry: Oh hell, this turned on me. It's lightly citrusy, then has that sweet edge that you get in garbage & vomit.ugh. I have to wash it off. It does not work with my body chemistry. Edit to add: an hour after washing it off, there's a lingering sugar, citrus & pepper. This, I like. But, it's not worth the rest.

    Kabuki

The oil in the imp is very dark. I think it is also aged at least a year imp: Cherry cough syrup. It's spot on for Robitussin DM. wet: Dear god, the throw on this is far. People in other cubicles are asking who spilled cough syrup. The astringent note is burning my nose. dry: the cherries smell more candied now & black jelly beans are in there aftermath: It's faded to faint, non sweet licorice & something a little spicy.
  19. quigza

    Belladonna

It's grean in the imp. I mean, the oil is actually green. I'm afearded. imp: whew! I'd say nail polish remover, but I just mopped yesterday. So I know this scent. Name brand pinesol. Not simple green, but pinesol. wet: Herbal essence shampoo. Not the new line, but the old one with the hippie lady in the water on it. There's a strong woody scent here too. less pine, more cedar dry: cedar & some green aftermath: cedar Not that cedar isn't a pleasant scent... It's just not my thing. This is what I'd like my winter sweaters to smell like. Not so much my skin.

    Sugar Skull

I have a sweet tooth. To a rather extreme degree. In my childhood I would eat sweets until the room was quivering along the edges, then run so I could see thinks blur into trails as a I ran. This was especially fun at Disneyland, where all the colors blurred rather madly & I was high on rock candy (large, pure sugar crystals- for those who weren't thinking sugar). This perfume is that experience. Extreme sugar & flashes of color. Part of my mind says OMNOMNOMNOMNOM Another simply says wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! And the last part is chittering like the hyper squirrel in "Over the Hedge" about the yummy colors. It's almost like a psychotic break in a bottle. A very sweet psychotic break.

    Whip

imp/wet: rose, with a very faint whiff of new leather (sniff the grainy/raw side of a new belt for what I mean) dry: rose, a little green, and the leather develops into the smell of a leather store- it's fleeting though later: The rose beats the leather down & it becomes all rose. Then I start getting an itchy nose. I love this scent, but it's not something I can wear normally. *pouts*

    Bliss

Throughout the whole experience with Bliss, it's a battle between milk chocolate & cocoa powder. It's truly sweet chocolate with no hint of anything else.

    Gunpowder

Gunpowder Bottle: Before I shook it, it smells like sweetness & hay. After being shaken, the hay dies down to the background. Sweet oats & a whiff of either carrot or apple peel comes out. Wet: Sweet oats, apple peel/carrot, sharp hay Dry: The sharp hay note warms to dry hay. The sweet oats are still very prominent. They remind me of the grains in Horn of Amalthea, but those were creamy. These are not. The apple peel now smells of cider. Not spicy cider, but cider. I still can't get it out of my head that there's a little carrot to this. But, that's fading Aftermath: The oats are faint, but there. The sweetness is gone, & the hay is just grassy now. It's all faint, but pleasant.

    Agrat-Bat-Mahlaht

I first bought this because, when I sniffed the bottle at willcall, I smelled head-clubbing sweetness & no nausea. This has aged some months since then & I'm trying it as if for the first time. In the bottle: mmm, apple blossom & a bit of caramel. Aging definitely get rid of the "head clubbing" potency Wet: see above, then add amber to the lot. and a whiff of honey? and skin?! and what is that?? Dry: The skin & cream are coming out now. The apple blossom is still there, and the amber fades in & out, just playing at my nose. The caramel seems to have died out. The mystery note has swollen to be the atmosphere here (is this what teak should smell like?) Aftermath: About 1/2 hour in, I was alternating between wanting to chew my tasty smelling wrist and sniffing delicately while giggling like a little girl (feeling very "eyelet white dress"). There's a giddiness that comes with this fragrance that makes me smile.

    Velvet

Note: I tend not not be able to smell sandalwood unless it's very strong. So, We'll see what I end up sniffing here In the bottle: I'm not sure what I'm smelling. Chocolate & vanilla definitely, but something that's there but isn't. It's sharp & a little sweet. Wet: OMG, now I smell the sandalwood. Kinda punches you in the face, right? The myrrh is now recognizable. The two are battling & the chocolate & vanilla are hiding in fear. Dry: incense, but not the stuff that sets off my allergies. This has to be the myrrh & sandalwood blending with the cocoa. The vanilla still is absent. 1/2 hour later: see dry, but the vanilla comes out occasionally as vanilla incense- which makes me want to hurl. And, curiously, sometimes the sandalwood beats everything down, and I can't smell anything at all then. aftermath: I was going to wash this off. Then got caught up in work. It's been a few hours now. It smells almost spicy-floral & vanilla on me now. Very strange morphing there. I do like the end result.
