    Dia de los Muertos

A joyous celebration of La Catarina, La Flaca, La Muerte... Glorious, Beautiful Death. In Mexico, death is not something to be feared or hated; She is embraced, loved, and adored. La Muerte is fêted, as the celebrant "...chases after it, mocks it, courts it, hugs it, sleeps with it; it is his favorite plaything and his most lasting love." This is a Mexican paean to La Huesuda: dry, crackling leaves, the incense smoke of altars honoring Death and the Dead, funeral bouquets, the candies, chocolates, foods and tobacco of the ofrenda, amaranth, sweet cactus blossom and desert cereus. Okay, I've been wearing Dia de Los Muertos in my hair as it seems to be one of the best places for me to use many scents without smelling this overpowering scent on one part of my body. I put in one drop in my leave in conditioner (mind you it was a largish drop). When I first put it on, I definately smelled a smokiness that I can only assume is the tabacco. After about an hour or so I noticed that the scent had mellowed and that I was picking up smells that were a cross between Pan de Huevo (mexican pastry- it an egg bread type product with vanilla and other stuff) and Dulche de Leche candies. Later yesterday I noticed another scent as I was bowling, probably because I was sweating a little, That I believe was the cereus (I haven't been back to Tucson in blooming season for those in over two years). I washed my hair this morning and I can still smell the scent. Given that I normally go girlie girl with scents, this one is a bit out there for me (as it I wouldn't normally seen it smelling really good on me) but I think it smells amazing, and I spent most of yesterday catching whiffs and thinking man I want to go back to desert. Edited to add the lab's description--andrabell

    Leanan Sidhe

Most of the Gaelic poets, down to quite recent times, have had a Leanhaun Shee, for she gives inspiration to her slaves and is indeed the Gaelic muse -- this malignant fairy. Her lovers, the Gaelic poets, died young. She grew restless and carried them away to other worlds, for death does not destroy her power.[/i] – W.B. Yeats The name translates to “fairy, love of my soul”. A vampiric spirit and a dark muse, the love of the Leanan Sidhe is both a gift and a curse. These eerily beautiful Irish spirits drain the sanity and lifeforce of the men they inspire to artistic greatness. Her kiss infuses a man with depth of vision and feeling, otherworldly passion, and a sudden and ineffable understanding of the unending sadness that plagues mankind. Her perfume is a crush of Irish herbs and flowers, Gaelic mists, and nighttime dew. In the bottle: quite green and herb-y with just a touch of sweet blooms Wet: Oh my god. This brings me back to twilight back home in Colorado while growing up. It's a sweet smell of flowers that will just hang on until late in the evening thanks to a little humidity in the air. Dry: Now the herby scents are starting to warm up more an co-mingle with flowers giving this scent a great balance between flower and green. Unlike some other BPAL oils I found, application on one wrist is all I've needed to swamp the room with scent. Of course my officemate just wandered over and grabbed my wrist and said mmmmmm. [edit] further dryness- the herbs have popped out even more starting to overpower the flowers in this mis. And the bf could smell it from the office door (I'm about 10 ft from the door and that was a single swipe)

    Fruitcake

With my Sea of Tranquility/Anniversary/Yule order I found a loud little imp of Fruitcake in my order. Nowhere do I see mention of it, so this is my review! First a label picture (one of 3 I put in the gallery):linkie since i can't insert photos from the gallery With this label with a fruit studded fruitcake you can understand why the imp caught my eye! In the bottle/imp: very almond-y. Not Almond like Eclipse, much more of the scent of Almond and sugar like you'd get with almond paste. A second sniff reveals the hint of red cherries. Yum. On application: oh dear, lovely almond, plus the scent of spices that smells like a blend of cinnamon, nutmeg and just a wee wee bit of cloves. There is also a slight buttery hint like there should be with any form of fattening baked good! On drying: A slight additional hint of apple. Wrist (uncovered) vs elbow (in wool sweater and thus warmer comparision): elbow keeps the scent of cherries much better than my wrist after drying. I . Perhaps the next spot I think I'll try is between the chestal area.

    Ho Ho Ho

Ho Ho Ho is the lovely scent from the December will call which also corresponds to the perigee of the Moon's orbit making tonights full moon 30% brighter than most. That said. . . In the bottle: 1st sniff: sweet 2nd sniff: mmm buttery 3rd sniff: spicey Ah-ha: spiced apple cider! And a quick edit to say: on me the buttery note starts to come out and gives me a bit more of our family recipes for spiced nuts. Nom! (2nd edit to change it from West Will Call to just will call as I see the east coast got it too!)

    Bravery, Courage, Confidence, Intimidation, Power

See I'm not like the other gals in this thread. The one scent that will whip my ass around and has me strutting with the "Look at me wrong and I'll pound your ass into the ground" attitude is Ultraviolet. It's something about me and the scent of violets and I turn into don't even f* with me girl.

    Snow White

In 2004 I bought one bottle of Snow White only to find that I loved it to death. The smell went wonderfully with a Los Angeles summer with the faint hint of coconut (which I later learned is likely the lily musk). Again in 2005 I ordered Snow White, yet went for two bottles. Rather than wait awhile I put it on immediately this morning. unlike previous versions of Snow White, I find the coconut smell fainter in the 2005 edition- instead the vanilla scent stands strong. However. . .my experience with last year's version of Snow White has shown that the coconut tonality matures with age, so I definately will be aging the second bottle such that I can test the effect. (ps- even though the 2005 versions tends more toward the vanilla it still smells fab between the boobies!)

    Snow Moon

Starts off in the bottle very cold- ie Cold Moon or Frost Moon. Must be some eucalyptus or mint. Drydown- ooh piney- but good pine-y. Not like Lysol and crap but more like when you hug a tree and find that you've got pine sap on you that has warmed up a bit. Dry- combination of pine and cedar. Just what you want to snuggle up with on a cold winter day.

Chaos Theory II : The Butterfly Effect

Well I have both of mine on my wrists now: CT 125- first impression when popping open the bottle- OMG this is food-y sweet. What the hell am I going to do to not knaw off my arm? Dry after 5 minutes- Oh my god. It's summer flowers. Perfect summer flowers. I think I need to just attach my wrist to my nose. I'm catching some Lily of the Valley, and something else. This was my hope for Flower Moon (which is beautiful in it's own right, but this one smells more like our flower garden in Colorado where I grew up than the California like scents in Flower Moon) Okay now on thinking about it- there is sweet- maybe some apple? Which would jive well with my memory as we had crab apple trees all over the place at the house I grew up in. CT 66- Smells woody in the bottle. At first I thought it might be the fantastic patchouli that Beth has. On and dry- oh it's not woody anymore. It's this wonderful combination of spices. A little Mexican, a little Indian all tied up in one. Seems like cinnamon, clove and maybe some cumin or corriander. Oh my goodness me this is going to be a comfort scent for me *swoon*

    Rose Cross

Beautiful scent with complete rose in the bottle. On me it smells of rose and instead of frankicense. . . I think I get hints of sandalwood. As it dries it has the potent smell of when you first open a bar of Chinese Bee and Flower Rose Soaps.

    Cold Moon

Okay I waffled on buying this for a few thinking that the description was close to Snow White. In the end the part of my head that said "ohhh white flowers" won and I bought a bottle. In the bottle- *snif sniff* Hm definately floral but not like Snow White (lacks that nutty punch) Wet- wow. That was interesting. I get the white flowers but I also get this almost equal and very complementary sweet scent. Think Glitter in the bottle be divided by 5 to 10. Dry- Very light scent of flowers. Makes me think of soft lillies and waxflowers. Takes some sniffing though as it really tones down on my skin like Pele. Unlike Frost Moon which smelled exactly what I thought a lunar should smell like (I think it was that aquatic note), Cold Moon seems to be missing the aquatic note for me. No matter though as the delicate white flowers are quite nice on me.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

Thank you for posting that dear, I was starting to work about mine as well (dumb bank is suspending my credit card at the end of the week with approximately 6 days warning because they are giving me a new one with a new number as one of the companies that processes Visa card managed to process things "improperly"). I was about the email Nella, but now it looks like I don't have to. Yay for orders being harvested!

    Scent for Halloween?

All Saints. I've been wearing it the last few days and I totally love it. Given that I'm being a fairy this year for Halloween (please no comments about it being unoriginal, I grew up being a cowgirl almost every year because it was easiest on my mother), I think All Saints will go perfectly
