    Marae

In the bottle: Sweet and floral Wet, on my skin: Honey (I'm not sure where that came from), and really heavy florals Dry: Gardenia ahoy! Oh, and the faint aroma of incense. edited to add: Dry, 2+ hours later: Only incense remains. I smell like generic incense at any generic New Age-y store.

    Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp

Beckons all giant creatures from gargantuan reptiles and humongous moths! These babies are sure to crush everything from dollhouses to shopping malls! Can even be used to summon colossal robots in a pinch! A sweet and crisp vanilla mint! I love this one because it's one of the few scents with vanilla that I actually can stand! I think its the potency of the mint...it balances the vanilla out on me, so I don't wind up with a stomach-churning heavy handed Vanilla At Grandma's House scent. It cheers me up to smell this, but it also makes me want chocolate. And I also discovered that while I got tons of compliments on how I smelled, it is probably unwise to ever wear this to a Weight Watchers meeting again. By the end, everyone was craving Thin Mints.

    To Helen

This is a sweet perfume-y scent in the imp, but once it dried on my skin, it turned into a heavily perfumed baby powder smell. Not my cup of tea at all.

    Earth Rat

Fantastic! In the imp, all I could smell was wonderful melons, which I adored. After about an hour on my skin, the scent has turned into a faint melon, with something deeper, not-spicy-but-not-sweet underneath. Yummy!

    Chuparosa

This is one of the few blends I've liked thus far that is floral... I know its because my skin is really highlighting the spicy undercurrents in it... on me it smells like a flower garden, with bundles of cinnamon jammed in between every few plants. I love it!

    Frederic

When I first smelled it in the bottle, I blurted out "Frederic smells like sex!" (Yes, I'd had a drink or two...moving on!) Upon further testing, I'm sticking with that original impression. It's not the nasty, stanky, sweat-filled scent of sex that's more gross than hot; Frederic is the scent of passionate amazing sex...Like when Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio got it on in the backseat of that car in the cargo hold of Titanic.
  7. My mom claims that the only perfume that has ever "worked" on her was Mary Kay's Acapella. However, it was discontinued about a year ago. She was in town the day my Yule decants came, and she seemed to like a lot of the rose scents, but none of them really grabbed her as being her new scent. I asked my Aunt, a Mary Kay consultant, what the major notes in Acapella were, so I can hopefully narrow down my search of a BPAL-substitute. She didn't know for sure; all she could remember was that it was a floral scent (but not a stereotypically floral scent), and that it was most popular with fiercely independent women. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I'm prepping my next order anyway, so I'm thinking if I get some GC reccommendations, I'll get mom a set of imp's ears or two so she can try some scents out. Thank you all so much!

    Dorian

The description of Dorian begins The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. True, but you know what happens when you yield to temptation? You end up dead and in whatever personal Hell you have chosen for yourself. I am one of those freaks that Dorian hates, and he is taking it way too personally. Dorian on me is not the lovely not-too-overpowering-sexy scent that everyone else seems to get. Dorian on me morphs into this awful funk of musky-sweet-baby powder, and it's really quite stomach churning. This isn't sexy seductive Dorian Gray, the champion of hedonism...on me, it's the nasty ancient rotting Crypt-Keeper Dorian Gray in the portrait. Bummer.

    Queen of Sheba

In my first ever BPAL order, I got an imp of Queen of Sheba. Tragedy soon followed. At first sniff, I was worried Queen of Sheba might be a little too sweet for me. But the hint of spice and heady extravagence of the scent drew me into her intoxicating arms...and it was all downhill from there. Initially, it was sweet, but thankfully the spices were there to help mute things out. Then, the spices fled, and I was left with an overpowering sweetness. But it wasn't the lovely clover honey other people got to experience. No, this was honeysuckles gone awry. Too flowery, too sugary; it began to smell like the flowers were fermenting. I had to accept the harsh truth; Queen of Sheba smells like rotting flowers on me. The overpowering smell of too much sweetness being this traumatic made me think of one possible analogy: This is what it must have smelled like when Bambi's mom died.
