    Vixen

I should start this by warning that "sexy" scents are totally not me. I am a candy and fruit girl all the way. I think the only sexy scent I like is Smut. That said, Vixen isn't too bad. It's very dark and musky and reminds me a bit of Snake Oil (which I am not a fan of). I don't get any orange blossom or ginger at all. I can detect that Smut-like sweet booze note that someone else mentioned upthread. So it's not for me, but if the idea of a sweet, dirty, sexy scent appeals to you, you should give it a shot. Especially if you like Snake Oil.

    Pumpkin V (2008)

The pumpkin patch is always a game of roulette to me. Sometimes a blend will sound like a perfect combination of notes, but the pumpkin note will dominate to the exclusion of all others. Others, I can't detect any pumpkin. Pumpkin V kind of bucks the trend - I definitely get both pumpkin AND several of the other notes. When I sniff my wrist, there's a bit of pumpkin at first, followed by musky cranberry. The pumpkin isn't super buttery like in some of the other pumpkin blends - perhaps the tart cranberry is containing the butter. It's a tiny bit sweet but not very. It also, oddly enough, doesn't feel very foody to me, I think because of the musk. Edit: An hour later, this has dried to a slightly musky cran-strawberry. I guess it doesn't buck the trend for me!

Lines Written Among the Euganean Hills

In the vial: Minty plastic...*goes back to look at notes again*....Wha? O_o On me: This is VERY faint on me. I can detect a hint of mint (again, where is THAT coming from?), and not much else. I don't get ANY other notes. Dang. Maybe it was a batch issue?

    The Gladdener of All Hearts

Wet, all I get is lavender lavender lavender. On me, lavender is still the dominant note, but it sweetens quite a bit. There are a lot of other notes floating in the background that I can't quite identify, but they're combining with the lavender in sort of an odd way. Yes, I think one of the deeper non-sweet notes - maybe the orris root or sage? - is really making things weird. Side note: My boyfriend came into the room while I was testing this and the scent drove him out of the room . I guess it should be renamed Gladdener of All Hearts But Sprocket's Boyfriend's. (He's one of those who says all of my BPAL smells like either candy or perfume ).

    Poisson d'Avril

I have to admit that while I'm great at picking out fruit and food notes, I'm terrible when it comes to florals. I am working on remedying that - I have recently discovered, for example, how awesome hyacinth smells - but pretty much the only floral I recognize scent-wise in Poisson D'Avril is the rose. That said, I can't really detect the rose in this scent - again, if I was a bit better at identifying the other florals I could give a better idea of what this smells like, but I mostly come up with sweet, nondescript floral. It's lovely and very evocative of spring, but definitely for floral lovin' gals only.

I Fell in Love with a Floating Brain

I was excited about this one, because I LOVE carnation and won't say no to cake and cream. The only worrying note for me was the grapefruit, as it tends to turn to BO on my skin. Ruined a couple of the Tiki scents for me >.<. Wet: This is VERY sweet, to the point that it makes my nose tingle! It's not a complicated scent - just piles of strawberry cake, no grapefruit or carnation at all. The strawberry note is a bit tart and has a tang to it that seems kind of off to me...perhaps the Strawberry Shortcake doll note that others have mentioned. It's not plastic, exactly, but it does make the strawberry a tiny bit fake. This blend seems perfect for enabling a young daughter or niece into BPAL. Well, name aside, of course . It's very light and sweet.

    Lady Lilith

Wet on me: Musky florals with a hint of lemon. The musk stands out the most - it reminds me a bit of Smut, as mentioned by someone else, but not as sweet. Definitely no rose at all, which surprises me. The bit of floral that I get is hard to identify - maybe the violet? My overall impression is that of a lighter, less sweet, more floral Smut. It's very pretty and smells 'expensive', if that makes sense. I would expect a lady wearing fashionable expensive clothing and jewelry to smell like this.

    MVJBA: Pancake Breakfast

In the imp: Nondescript astringent smell that I commonly get from baked goods scents. On me: Oh, this is not doing so well on my skin. It smells not unlike chlorine. I can't even bring my nose close to my skin or I start coughing. I think I'm going to go wash this off X_x.

    Sugar Cookie

In the imp: Vanilla caramel? On me: WHOA there butterscotch, calm down! This is sweeter and more candylike than I expected - almost like a Werther's Original candy. As it dries, it becomes a bit more cookie-like, but it still smells like a butterscotch cookie rather than a sugar cookie.

    Monster Bait: Closet

Closet fades pretty quickly on me, but while it lasts it's DELICIOUS. I don't pick out a lot of individual notes, just a sense of delectable berry cake. I tend to struggle a lot with foody scents - sometimes I amp a note to the point that it's sickeningly sweet, other times there's a certain note in there that's just not agreeing with me (I'm looking at you, Eat Me!). But Closet has neither of those problems. It's become a comfort scent more than anything - if you think about it, it's pretty hard to stay sad/depressed when all you can smell is a fantastic cake!

    Sticky Pillowcase

This is awesomely candy-sweet. It's strawberry candy with a hint of...maple? Is that what that note is? Maybe it's caramel, as someone upthread detected. Regardless, this is very delicious and innocent. It seems like the perfect scent to give to a little (but not TOO little) girl to enable her to BPAL. It's also quite similar to Candy Phoenix. CP's strawberry note blends with the other candy notes, but many have noted the similarity between SP and CP before. Since I already have a bottle of Candy Phoenix, I'll remain content with my decant of Sticky Pillowcase.

    Lilith Victoria

This smells really pretty in the imp - lots of vanilla and lavender. On me, it's...Oh, hi there, Snake Oil. I don't like Snake Oil and so of course I amp it in everything, including the Snake Pit blends. There is kind of a softening edge to the Snake Oil in this blend - must be the Dorian and the other notes softening it and sweetening it. I think this would have been perfect for me if it had been Dorian supported by Snake Oil and the other notes, but alas, it's the other way around.

    Butter Rum Cookie

This scent is very SPICY on me, and not very cookie-like. Wet, there was a big blast of the rum, and dry, there's a bit of sugar, but it's mostly drowning in cinnamon. I think my cookie fell into a vat of cinnamon . I will just have to console myself by baking some real butter rum cookies...>.>

    Graveyard Dirt

I can't believe how realistic this smells. It's dirt, dirt, dirt, and nothing else. Also, did I mention that I amp dirt? When I put on Zombi once at a meetup, I had to go wash it off because nobody else could smell anything but dirt. So GY Dirt is a very STRONG dirt with LOTS of throw on me. It's very unique and interesting, but I prefer my dirt with other notes, such as Nosferatu.

    Centzon Totochtin

This is the frimp that will not die! I figure that if I finally get off my lazy bum and review it, the CT frimps will stop coming. In the imp and wet on my skin, it's surprisingly bitter. It almost smells like scorched cocoa or something along those lines. It's not sweet, and I don't get any wine or blood at all. It's waaay too bitter for me, sadly; as it dries it almost smells like cigarettes! Eek!
  16. sprocket21

    Dark Chocolate and Cherry

This is all chocolate in the imp, and then on my skin, WOOOSH! THERE'S the cherry. It is not a pleasant cherry, more like cherry cough syrup that's gone a bit...off. I hated Vice (it made me feel nauseated when I tested it, and this is doing something similar), so I'm not sure what I was thinking when I picked up a decant of this.

    Tabella

Wow, when I went to sniff the imp, it's like the oil reached up and punched me in the nose! It's very sharp and not sweet at all. Tabella is very herbal and dry - I think I can pick out the tobacco, but otherwise the notes blend well enough that I can't pick them out. Definitely too sharp and herbal for me.

    Earth Ox

Earth Ox is a wonderfully realistic, very fresh juicy honeydew melon. I'm surprised it's not more popular, as this seems like the perfect warm weather scent. I want to take a bite out of my arm, and I usually don't react that way to fruity scents! I still have 1.5 bottles of Earth Rat to work through, and the similarity between the Rat and the Ox has already been pointed out by others. Given the choice though, I think I'd slightly prefer the Ox to the Rat in retrospect. Also like the Rat, it's very light and fades quickly.

    Prunella

Add me to the "does not get any plum from Prunella" crowd. On me it's just straight florals; they're pretty enough, but I'm exceedingly disappointed that there's no plum, as I ordered it solely because of the plum note. Instead it's just wildflowers with a touch of greenery. I can't really detect the cream, either .

    White Chocolate, Marshmallow, and Coconut

This starts out strongly as sweet coconut, with hardly any chocolate at all. The chocolate comes out as it dries, and finally ends up as a sweet chocolate note with a hint of coconut. The chocolate note is realistic enough that I found myself hunting down a real piece of chocolate to nom on. It's also not as cloying as some other chocolate scents such as Bliss.

    Gluhwein

This is mostly spices over a bed of sweetened, grape-y red wine. I was expecting a red wine scent, and didn't really expect it to feel 'seasonal.' Yet my first thought upon opening the imp was "This smells like CHRISTMAS!" There's just something about the blend of spices that seems very Christmas-y to me. I think the perfect use for this imp is in my oil burner during the holiday season.
  22. sprocket21

    Agapē

On me, this is all light creamy apple, which I see a lot of others are getting. It's very lovely, but I was hoping that the apple would be a background note. I have a lot of apple scents and was hoping for more of the carnation and other fruits to interact and make the scent very interesting and unique. I suppose I can try tucking it away to age and hope that the apple goes away.

    Plunder

In the imp: spices and tea! On me: The tea is upfront first, and then the cinnamon comes out. It's very spicy, almost like a strong chai tea. I'm going to be a pirate for Halloween, so I'll probably wear this to complement my outfit. Yarr!
  24. sprocket21

    Hunger

In the imp: Orange and chocolate. On me: It smells like I'm eating an orange...in a headshop. I'm generally not a fan of "sexy" notes like incense or patchouli, and Hunger is no exception. However, while it's not for me, the "evil orange" that I get from this is interesting and not unpleasant.

    John Barleycorn

Wow, this is a lot sweeter than I expected it to be. Wet, it's very beery and hopsy, dry it's a powdery sweet lemon. Emphasis on the powdery. O_o Not what I was expecting! I may swipe this on my unsuspecting boyfriend and see how it works out on him. I mostly got it for him, so I'm surprised I like it as much as I do. I expected to recoil from the imp!
