2013 Summer SW Q&A

Hi witch, here are my questions so far, but whatever you send I will love     Is there a Quote that resonates with you, or that you particularly like a lot. Would this be something you would like artwork made of for your walls or a shirt/bag/scarf?   May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. If so, which ones do you prefer?   I use the blocks (Like scentsy) but it doesn’t have to be from them, I usually buy the ripoff ones from Walmart or Publix and they work just as well.       Do you enjoy drinking hot chocolate, and would you like stuff to make it with, or to add to it?   Not right now.       Have you ever tried Spoonfudge? (I'm not saying I'd definitely do this, unless someone is keen, and it wouldn't be the only gift). I guess for other witches this might include something like a knitting pattern - not my thing but would you like that? Or indeed would you like a picture created for you (if so what kind) or a story written? (sorry if this feels a bit Spanish Inquisition!)   I love recipes and cookbooks.       If you knew you were going to live comfortably for say 800 years, what profession, calling or project might you pursue with some of your extra years, which you imagine you may not do in the life that you have?   Travelling, photography and art.       What colors/style is your kitchen decor? And do you entertain in your home?   Browns, red, creams warm colors. I collect teddy bears, unicorns, Barbies, faries, My Little Pony sect.       Switch Witch is, of course, all about you.....but if your Witch was so inclined, are there wee little ones in your home that will get jealous and are just too young to understand why you won't share the love, who maybe need a touch of Witchee love all their own, to distract them while you hide all your lovelies?!?   Not really, they’ll be fine.       How do you feel about traditional picnics (namely the intimate table for two variety)? Old-fashioned basket or something more utilitarian (cooler/insulated bag)?   I love traditional picnics but I love modern ones too.       Haus of Gloi did a Reverie update! Do any of them interest you? (Or anything else up currently?)   Never heard of it, but I’m game.       Witchee, do you cook? Do you do all the cooking? Is it a chore or a pleasure?   I Love cooking although my dishes don’t always work out. I do majority of the cooking and most of the time it’s a pleasure.       Which reading level do you prefer to read in YA or Adult? Are you kinky?   Yes. I won't elaborate too much but I love toys and games and "movies" and clothes. So does DH.       Do you enjoy scented candles? Certain sizes that you like? What kind of scents or brands?   Yes, any size and brand. I have warmers so wax cubes (like Scentsy but Wal-mart sells them too) are always great too.       Thoughts about South Africa? Have you been here, would you like to go? Would you like to receive anything South African?   I'm originally from SA so I love it, my mom sends me tons of stuff so I don't necessarily need anything right now.       Do you like Sockdreams? If so, what styles would you prefer?   Love them, any and all.       Do you need hair accessories? If so, what kind or color?   Always. I love plain and pretty or bright and pretty. Anything really.       What is your favorite shade of blue?   I'm loving navy right now.       Do you have any kitchen gadgets (a SodaStream, a Kuerig/Tassimo) that you want mix things for?   I have a SodaStream.       If you were to start learning something new (intellectual or craft or hobby), what would it be?   If I had the time or money I would love to learn to play the drums.       What about candy? Are there designer clothes/purses/sunglasses that you desire/love? (Give some indication as to your "style" as well. For example, do you like bohemian-style frocks in lavender? Crossbody purses in black? Sunglasses that are round and bug-like?) I like all of the above, flowery skirts, gypsy style dresses, spaghetti dresses, blouses, cow boy boots, long chunky necklaces, anything really.   In the meantime, let me know what you like to do on the Internet to kill time. Flash games? What are your daily websites/blog visits, or favorite YouTube videos? Dragoncave, STFUP, teefury,   My Little Pony... Cute or meh? OMG LOVE SO MUCH!   Lip balm - tube or tin? Pomana   If you wear earrings, do you have pierced ears? Yes   You are meeting up with someone on a casual lunch/early afternoon thing. This person is someone you want to impress/look good for (for whatever reason, not necessarily romantic, and not necessarily for business either). What would you look like, given the contents of your wardrobe/etc? It depends if it was business or pleasure. If it was business I have a great black pencil dress that I would wear with a very fitted pinstripe jacket and a long necklace and top it with killer heels. If it was personal then either a pretty flowery sundress or jeans and heels.   You are to be let loose in a clothing store of your choice, to pick a full outfit, down to the shoes, the accessories, etc. and things would be altered to fit you if needed. What store would that be, and what would you look like? Anthrapologie. A pretty empire flowery flowing form fitting sundress, a long beaded necklace, a cute pair of sandals, wedge heels or boots. Examples:   Dress   Dress 2   Dress 3       You open a box from the post office to reveal the 3 things you want most right now. What are they? (caveats: size doesn't matter, but they have to be tangible/buyable). Cowboy boots, ceramic egg cups, a pretty cover for my Nook Color.   WHAT MAKES YOU LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF!!! movies, comedians, black humor, your partner, a comic strip? what? Crude comedy, anything dirty and gross (movies, books, my DH)   Candy Corn? Nope   I live in Japan. Anything you would be interested in from there? Anything.   If you have cats, do they like catnip toys? If you have doggies, would they like a super-reinforced canvas toy with a squeaker in it? I have 2 rats so anything for rodents.   If you have kids, what are they into? 2 boys so anything: Disney Cars, Star Wars, anything with flashing lights.   How do you feel about wearable knitted lace? Shawls, wraps, and the like? YES! I love shawls and wraps.   Looking at the warehouse, I notice that our lovely Greenwoodtree is able to do chart readings and/or forecasts at a very reasonable rate. Is this something you would want? Sure.   Do you have a forum buddy? Someone who knows you and/or your tastes well enough to answer questions on your behalf? Glambie knows me pretty well         Do you like cute, seasonal or fluffy PJ bottoms? Like they sell at Target, Old Navy (they have had cute Halloween ones!) If so, what size do you wear? Love them. Large would be perfect.   What kind of chocolate do you like? Nuts, no nuts, white,dark, etc? I like milk chocolate with nuts. But generally any chocolate is perfect.   I live near a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Penzeys! What does your little heart desire from any or all of these places? I’ve heard of all of these places but have none nearby so have never been.   Are home made foods acceptable or does the idea of eating strange mailed food disturb you? Don’t mind.   I just gave you $20 and sent you into a "has everything" store ala Walmart and told you that you have to come out having spent it all, and none of it on anything you need. What would you buy? Be as specific as possible! A few tank tops, candle wax/tarts (for warmers), some stationary and stickers   What kind of cuisines do you like? (I mentioned this in my ?aire but curious what my witch may like) And, what are your favorite restaurants? Love love Indian Restaurants and Chinese. Pub food too. Body Makover

Body Makeover – Day 1 Monday January 30, 2012   Preparing and making the food for my diet is a pain in the ass!! It took me an hour last night to make food for today (but I also prepared Rexford’s bag for school – and for the rest of the week, and made regular dinner for everyone.) The BIG test is going to be trying to figure out how to prepare my food for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights because of my second job. I know I’ll have to wake up earlier in the morning, probably around 6 which will be tough, but I know I can do this!!   I tried eating my breakfast at home at 7am this morning but no dice, it’s just too early for my body, considering I usually skip breakfast and eat lunch at 11am! So I waited till I got to work and I ate it at my desk, it was ok. The first few bites were tough but halfway through I was starting to enjoy it … kind of.   Breakfast:   3 oatmeal and egg white pancakes (with cinnamon and vanilla) 2 table spoons chopped strawberries 1 cup black coffee It wasn’t the most appetizing breakfast but I must admit I feel good, nice and full! The diet also requires me to drink 100 oz of water a day. I’ll admit I am not a big water drinker at all, I really don’t enjoy it so rather than make myself sick by doing the 100oz right away, I’m just going to play it by ear and aim for 60oz a day and take it from there, if I can manage more great, if not it’s better than nothing right?   Ugh drinking the water is hard because it’s so cold in the office today! Brrrrr! I’m down almost 33oz and it’s only mid-morning. I can do this! And I have to pee every 5 seconds now!!   Taking pictures, weighing and measuring myself was a real eye-opener for me last night. The measuring and weighing was no problem, seeing the pictures was very difficult! I told DH my fears last night. It boils down to this statement:   “What happens if I get to my goal weight and stick to the diet and exercise plan but I look in the mirror and I still don’t like what I see?”   This is my biggest fear.   Part of the problem is I have one leg longer than the other so when I stand my one hip is lower than the other and this makes a crease down my back/side/hip, it looks terrible. I’m hoping that when I loose some of the fat around my thigh/hip area and when I tone the muscles it’ll make it less noticeable.   Snack time! 11.30am couldn’t have come soon enough I was hungry! Here is what I had:   Mid-morning Snack:   2oz Grilled Chicken Breast Some Grilled Snow peas ½ cup strawberries   After I ate this I was still STARVING so I consulting my food plan and read that for my plan I can have unlimited salad/veggies so I went and got a salad from Publix.   Lettuce, tom, peppers, cucumber, carrots and spring onion. I topped it with Red Wine Vinaigrette, ground pepper and salt free spicy seasoning. It hit the spot. I am now full!   But I was a little too enthusiastic with the seasoning and it was very very spicy! When I got back to my desk I drank some water and had a piece of gum. I’m not sure if gum is allowed but it doesn’t have sugar so I think it’s okay.   The mid-morning snack is hard for me because I generally have my HUGE lunch meal at 11am so I have to train my body to have smaller portions earlier on and then a slightly larger lunch at around 2pm. The salad really helped and I don’t feel guilty because it’s “free food”. I am craving something sweet, will have to see what desserts I’m allowed.   EPIC FAIL at lunch time. I had made tuna, onion and oat cakes and I thought I was going to throw up. I managed 1 ½ of them with the carrots and tomato but I couldn’t eat anymore. Not a good start considering it’s my first day. I’m trying to remind myself that it’ll take a couple of days to get acclimated and I’ve already learnt that I can have endless amounts of vegetables (like lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms ect.) to fill me up as tuna is not a good idea for me   After you finish a small meal even though you’re body isn’t starving or deprived of food, it’s used to eating more so it sends a message to your brain reminding or rather telling you to eat more, the more you eat smaller meals the sooner your body will adjust!   I’m excited I did some research on the Diets forum pages and found a great dessert/evening snack recipe – Meringue Cookies (which I will be trying tonight) and a great breakfast or afternoon snack – Almond Rice Cupcakes (which I’ll make tonight for my snack tomorrow!)   I just had my afternoon snack which was really good!   Mid-afternoon Snack:   2oz Grilled Pork Steak ½ cup grilled snow peas and squash   I got home and making dinner was so-so, it was hard with the boys crawling/running around and Brice trying to do the taxes all at the same time.   Dinner: “Cottage Pie”   2oz Ground Beef with onions and mushrooms ½ cup “mashed” potato 1 cup peas and brussel sprouts   1 glass of ice water with lemon   It wasn’t a very nice meal unfortunately, very bland and when I added crushed garlic to the mash I used too much and it made it very sour/bitter. I found a recipe for home-made tomato sauce from the diet forum and will try and make that sometime to try and add some flavor and “wetness” I find a lot of the meals very dry.   After we bathed and put the boys to bed I cleaned the kitchen and got my food ready for tomorrow – took about 50min but I kept distracting myself trying to do too many things at once!   I made the meringue cookies too, they turned out okay. I used almond essence which I probably won’t again; it can also have a very odd taste. Next time I think some vanilla will be nicer. I want to try actual meringues this weekend maybe.     Body Makeover – Day 2 Tuesday January 31, 2012 Woke up at 6.30am this morning to pack lunches and make breakfast and coffee. I made Brice fried eggs on toast that he shared with Paxton. Made myself black coffee but only had 2 sips and forgot it on the counter.   Brought my breakfast to work, I still can’t stomach anything before 8:30am. Have a slight headache today but I’m sure it’s caused from all the withdrawals (sugar, salt, dairy, flour ect.) it’s not too bad, after my black coffee at work and water it’s eased considerably!   Breakfast:   2oz ground beef (from last night) 2oz scrambled egg whites ½ c mashed potato   I fried them all up with some pepper, parsley and garlic powder so it was like an egg skillet. It wasn’t bad. The first mouthful was very dry but I added some red wine vinaigrette and extra pepper and ate it with my coffee and it was better.   My snack time at 11am came quickly and it was delicious!   Mid-morning Snack:   2 ½oz (x3 slices) of low-sodium smoked Turkey 1 small tomato Half a grape fruit   Unlike yesterday, this filled me up nicely and when I had to eat lunch at 2pm I wasn’t starving. Lunch was okay, a bit bland, I still have to figure out how to make the food taste better. I really need to make some of the tomato sauce/ketcup or some kind of gravy. I also want to see about making a soup in the crockpot, think that would be really nice. Must peruse the diet forum cookbook sometime!   Lunch:   2-3oz grilled pork and chicken ½ cup rice 1 cup peas and brussel sprouts Small mixed salad (sprouts, lettuce, cucumber, peppers, carrots and spring onion)   Had a cup of tea mid-afternoon, because it’s still hard for me to stomach all the water I have to drink, it’s going well though, I’m almost done with my second bottle of water and if I can manage another one then that’ll almost be the full 100oz!   I’m a bit nervous about dinner tonight, fish ….
