Switch Witch Questions (Halloween 2010 Round)

By the way, I just want to preface this that interesting info about me is available in my older Switch Witch blogs, and I have gone back and edited as needed to update them. I might be redundant among the three different rounds' answers, so bear with me!   Baked goods: I love baked goods, as does my husband, so they are most definitely welcome here! My favorites are peanut butter cookies (made with smooth peanut butter), sugar cookies (frosted or plain), and shortbread (oh, and someone mentioned lemon bars in the thread--delicious! Citrus (without chocolate though) is one of my favorites--lime and lemon. Husband loves chocolate chip cookies. Other baked goods, candy, etc.--homemade food items--are fantastic! I looooooove toffee and caramel and butterscotch.   Gifts for other household members: The kitties love it when someone thinks of them and gives them treats or toys, as does Miss Rattie, Templeton. And I'm sure my husband wouldn't turn down a cookie or candy! He's always begging me to make cookies or cupcakes.   Are you someone who'd rather have lots of small testers of different things on your wishlist, or would you rather have one or two "big" things?: I like variety. Small testers is probably the way to go.   social networking usernames, ie twitter, facebook, livejournal, ravelry, anything else: I'm Ondine or Ondiney almost everywhere I go. I'm on Twitter but don't tweet; facebook is locked down; Livejournal I don't post on; no ravelry; etsy I am Ondiney and you can see my favorites here.   would you like to receive Groupons or similar deals/gift certificates from your Witch? Sorry, but I live far enough away from any major metro area that those probably wouldn't be helpful.   Pajama sizes: I do love a good fuzzy pyjama. I tend to be an XXL in tops and an XXL/XXXL in bottoms. Clothes always tend to be really fussy on me ... I have to try them on to ensure a good fit ... so I will not be sad if you don't send clothing items (unless they're accessories--those fit everyone!) because you're worried whether they'll fit or not. I've had to tell my mom to not buy me clothes and send them via the mail but get me gift cards instead because so little of what she sent would fit well.   Am I into Austen books: No. Sorry. I haven't read any at all and it's not my style of reading--I much prefer modern science fiction, humor, and just all around interesting/quirky books. I tried reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and didn't like it at all.   Mix CDs: I LOVE MIX CDS! Love, love, love. And I have never received one in a Switch Witch round though I sent a lot to my witchees. Even if I don't end up falling for the music you send, I enjoy listening and being exposed to new things. I just ask that there's no country/western, as that is really the only kind of music I can't stand (and its correlates, bluegrass and folk). Themed CDs are awesome (like all cover songs or all 80s music) but just a little of "here's what I like" is great too! I used to be a college radio DJ so I am very interested in music.   Tarot: I have a deck and do readings sometimes but am not very comfortable with it yet. I have a book or two on Tarot. It's an interest but I wouldn't say it's a huge interest. I covet the Hello Kitty Tarot deck!   "Girly": I am unabashedly girly and I have no problem using that term. I love sparkles and glitter and skirts and pink, and I wear high heels often and love a cute pair of shoes. I'm actually a fifteen-year-old girl trapped in a 32-year-old's body! I paint my nails quite often and have a stack of different colors ranging from black to pink to blue to sparkles to mattes. I'm a Hello Kitty dork--I actually went to Sanrio Puroland in Japan--and my favorite characters are Hello Kitty, Chococat, and Deery Lou. I am not much of a tomboy although I do participate in many activities that people are sometimes "surprised" to hear that I do because they seem stereotypically male to them: I ride a motorcycle (Suzuki SV650), I brew beer, I play video games, including some shooter games.   Halloween plans: Usually my husband and I stay home and watch a movie, eat popcorn (maybe I should do caramel corn this year!), drink some beer, and have fun ourselves. We don't get trick-or-treaters way out here in the country and we're not really big party people. How about some good movie recommendations? They don't even have to be horror movies or Halloween themed--just fun, interesting movies you've seen lately. I have a long, long list of movies to watch on my Netflix queue and I like to add to it as I hear about different things I might like to watch.   Soft, fuzzy things: I love. Chenille's one of my favorite fabrics, as is velvet. If it's soft, fuzzy, pettable, squishy, I will enjoy it.   Nail polish: I am a nail polish fiend, if you didn't already get that from earlier responses! My favorite brands are China Glaze, Zoya, Sinful Colors, Lippmann Collection, and Orly. I've never tried Rescue Beauty Lounge but their colors intrigue me, especially "Scrangie." I like a lot of MAC's nail polishes, too. I tend to stay away from nudes and overly frosty colors, and I don't wear many whitish or pinkish colors, nor am I a big red fan. I usually wear bright colors: blues, greens, purples, oranges, yellows. No browns! I like matte colors and would actually like to add to my collection of mattes; I have Zoya Dovima and Veruschka. I'd love to get any of their other colors, particularly Posh (the reddish matte) and Loredana (silvery matte). I don't have any of the Zoya Wicked or Wonderful collections yet but the entire Wicked collection calls my name! Wonderful looks pretty for fall but Wicked has all that shimmer and glitter ... mmmm! I just saw pictures of the Black Phoenix polishes Bordello and Destroying Angel and both are beautiful.   E-books: No thank you; I don't have a reader. I like physical books.   Favorite snack foods: I love chips, especially salt & vinegar chips and sour cream & cheddar. I like to try unusual flavors of chips (dill pickle, pizza, ketchup, etc.). Wasabi peas and crunchy rice crackers are tasty, too. Anything sweet: cookies, candies. I dislike corn chips with a passion--there are no Doritos, Fritos, etc. in our house--and I am not big on pretzels, trail mix, nuts.   Harry Potter house: I'm a Slytherin! w00t!   Cosplay/costumes: I don't really cosplay but I generally go to our Ren Faire each year as a pixie (a dark pixie, dressed in black) so anything pixie-ish is welcome.   Scented tarts: I have some tart burners and tarts are welcome. I like fall scents along the lines of Samhain--cider, burning leaves, and the like. I'm not a big pumpkin fan but if it's well blended it's okay. Anything vanilla, patchouli, smoky, rich and sweet is great, and I do also like rose scents and light, sweet scents like Pink Sugar. Just nothing heavily floral.   Lip balms: Sure. I don't really like LUSH's lip balm formulation because it's in a little pot; I prefer a tube form or a squeeze tube. I absolutely LOVE Bath and Body Works' Liplicious glosses. I already have the following ones and would love any others: Coconut Fizz, Berry Vanilla, Coconut Vanilla, Lemon Vanilla, Cherry Gelato, Ruby Red Licorice, Sparkling Plum, Limeade. I think the only ones I wouldn't like are PS I Love You and Brown Sugar.   Body mods: Don't really need any jewelry--I don't change out my jewelry. Favorite artist/art style: Favorite artist is Vincent Van Gogh. I like Impressionism and post-Impressionism.   Booze: Make it, love it! I'd love a classic cocktail book to make drinks--I find myself running online to find out how to make a mint Julep or classic Manhattan too often. I love little foo-foo glasses for drinking out of, too.   Guilty TV pleasure: I really don't watch TV. The last thing I watched was Lost and that was highly unusual for me, and then I hated, absolutely hated, how it ended. So, no TV for me really. I have watched some shows via Netflix before: Arrested Development, Drawn Together, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Wonderfalls, and Dead Like Me. However, I am pretty unlikely to be interested in random TV shows, especially if they're not animated or quirky or both. I'm much more interested in your movie recommendations.   Celebrity crush: Kiefer Sutherland back in his Flatliners days; Alan Rickman, like so many others; Billy Bob Thornton because he has that crazy/sexy thing going on; Trey Parker, nom! Funny and cute; and Eric Wareheim--makes amazing videos, is goofy, and has the ability to laugh at himself. Oh, and Nathan Fillion.   DVDs: If you could make a mix DVD of videos you liked, that would be so cool. But that might be technologically difficult and time consuming so no worries. Really don't care in terms of widescreen or not.   Halloween decorations: I hate to be a bummer, but I don't really decorate. So Halloween decorations, cute as they may be, would not really be useful here. Sorry! I'm just too much of a minimalist. However, CourtCat posted: "Would you want hand made, molded, glazed (by yours truly!) ceramic decorations (napkin rings, potpourri/tart warmers, etc) to add to your stock?" and I think something made by hand like that would be absolutely wonderful because I could use it more than just during part of the year. A tart warmer would be great--napkin rings, I don't really use.   What hobby/craft would you like to learn how to do? I already do a lot of food-related crafting: making cheese, mead, wine, beer. I've tried knitting and I'm just not into it, nor am I much good at it. I have occasionally made stuff with fimo/sculpey clay and I used to paint. Next I'd like to make sake. I'd actually like to be able to make neat labels for my homebrew.   Mortars and pestles: I would actually use something like that for grinding spices. I cook a lot so it would be used.   Phobias: None really.   When you go to an etsy wishlist, it will tell you what things are sold. If you click on the sold item, sometimes it will give options that are similar to what was sold, but not identical, would you like the similar item or prefer not to get it at all unless it's the same item? How picky are you? Generally something similar will be fine. I have a lot of stuff on my etsy wishlist that's just there because it caught my eye. All of the wall art, for example, is still on there even though I've already put up wall art. However, any jewelry or accessories, also clothing, is stuff I'm interested in still. Ultimately, I'm not picky--the stuff on my etsy wishlist is a great indicator of the sort of things I like (colorful, rainbow items--soft knitted things--cool shoes--pretty silver jewelry--and unique clothing).   Disney movies, Yay or Nay, and favourites if you do like them? The only ones I really like are The Cat from Outer Space and Lilo and Stitch. We say "ohana" all the time in our house but we added on to it: "Ohana means family. And family means nobody gets left behind, or forgotten, or eaten." (This is because people keep asking when we're going to eat some of our ducks. OHANA! THEY are FAMBLY! I'm not much of a Disneyphile overall though.)   Do you have A VCR, DVD Player or Blue Ray or a combo of the three? No VCR though I have tapes I'd like to watch so I should get one from the thrift store. No DVD player or whatnot. We watch DVDs on our Xbox.   I adore icons for LJ/dreamwidth/forums/etc use, but suck at making them myself. Anyone else in the same boat, who would like custom icons as a gift? I can't really say I would have a use for that.   Socks? Um, yes. In a nutshell. I love stripey socks, fuzzy socks, all sorts of socks. My favorites are knee-length. I'm not too much a fan of ankle socks and I hate toe socks (where each toe fits into its own little toe-holder...they feel uber-weird on my feet!).   What is something you use to comfort yourself when feeling yucky, depressed, or in pain? A hot bubble bath, a cold Diet Coke, and a bit o' bitching to the cats, wall, or husband. Massages are also good too.   Scary movies/books: I love scary movies. I don't get scared easily. I also love horror books. Stephen King is my favorite author; I also like Anne Rice. I have read pretty much everything from Stephen King and I have most of Anne Rice's books. I absolutely love the Cube movie series (Cube; Cube II: Hypercube; and Cube Zero)--the little fish icon on my profile, the one in a coffee pot, is from Cube Zero. I like psychological horror and I absolutely love--and this will sound morbid--end of the world type novels. Things like Life As We Knew It, The Beach, The Stand, etc. So if it deals with strange viruses killing us all off, the moon knocking the earth out of orbit, nuclear destruction, etc. I am down! (Told you that was morbid!) As far as Halloween movies, I don't really go for the whole Freddy/Jason/Friday the 13th type of thing. I actually don't know of any particular Halloween movies that I enjoy. Like I said earlier with decorating, I don't really do a lot of holiday decorating, doing anything special, and so on. I really want to read John Dies at the End by David Wong.   Comic Books: Don't read them; not really an interest. I'd like to skim through the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels now that I saw the movie and loved it, but I imagine I'll probably end up liking the movie better.   Warm drinks: NO COFFEE. I don't drink it, not even the foofy Starbucks stuff that's not really coffee but a truckload of sugar and cream. I do like tea, quite a bit. I really like different varieties of tea bags (not loose) to take to work to drink during the day. I mostly drink black teas with fruit or other flavors (hazelnut, caramel, cinnamon) and Lady Grey/Earl Grey teas. I drink English breakfast at home oftentimes. I don't like chai tea mostly because it's usually too heavy on the clove and is a bit numbing. If you have a good chai to recommend I would love to hear! I don't like green tea very much. One of my favorites is Bigelow's Vanilla Caramel tea; I also like Tazo apple rooibos. (I like rooibos a lot, as well as herbal tisanes). I drink my loose leaf at home where I have all the contraptions and shizz to make it. At work, like I said, it's all tea bags. I am not a tea snob and love Celestial Seasonings, Bigelow, Tazo, etc. just as much as fancier teas online. I do also like cocoa (as does my husband) and like trying different flavors (mint, peanut butter, mocha even) but I tend to avoid stuff with high fructose corn syrup if I can. I love Abuelita (the Mexican hot chocolate discs) and similar solid chocolate disks that you melt into milk. And I love hot apple cider and have been known to make an exception on the corn syrup thing for a packet of cider. My tea drinking day (seriously!) usually goes like this: Peppermint or other mint tea in the a.m.; orange spice or Earl Grey tea in the early morning after first class is done; fruity teas in the early afternoon; something different for late afternoon--tea with spice, something vanilla, etc. By the way, I used to really love chamomile but something about it is just too grassy and herbal for me now, and I tend not to drink decaf tea (though obviously a rooibos or tisane is naturally caffeine-free and that's fine--I just mean like decaf black tea--it always seems like something's missing.)   Totem/symbol: I have a phoenix (oddly enough a black one, gotten long before I was ever into BPAL) on my lower back and an ankh on my shoulder. I like symbols that represent eternal life/rebirth in some way. I also love cats--domestic cats, big cats, all cats.   Do you need a box for your bpal bottles? Your imps? Your something else to put in a box stuff? Not really, no.   If you could be any person, being, or animal from Fantasy what or who would you be? I would love to be able to fly for a day. I have dreams of flying often and would love to really be able to do it. I would enjoy being a super-rich celebrity just for a while to see what it's like. Then I could come back to my normal life.   If you could go back to any point in time, where, when, why? I can't really think of any specific time, honestly. Maybe the 80s to be an adult at that time rather than a little kid. Favorite Halloween Candy/Treat? I love caramel apple pops, Snickers, Butterfingers, and Twix. I always traded my sister my Tootsie Rolls (which I don't like) for some of her candy! I also like super-sugary and sour stuff like Pixy Stix and Warheads. I don't like marshmallow pumpkins, mallowcreme pumpkins, or candy corn.   Would you be interested in an astrology birth chart? Yes, I would love something like that! I was born 6:15 pm Nov. 20 1977.   What movie scared the bejeezus out of you as a child? Nightmare on Elm Street. I watched it when I was probably too young to watch it.   Name a couple of sites you frequent other than this one. Makeupalley, Livejournal, Craigslist, LUSH forum.   Do you like the Muppets? Which is your favorite? No. I hate puppets, muppets, marionettes, etc. Yick. If you could have any creature (real or imaginary) as a pet, what would it be? For real animals, we'd like to get ferrets sometime. An imaginary pet? I'm not sure. Maybe a dragon, but only a friendly dragon.   Comfort Rereads?: Any of my Stephen King books, but mainly The Stand. V. C. Andrews' Flowers in the Attic and My Sweet Audrina. I re-read The Chronicles of Narnia every once in a while too. I named one of our ducks Lucy after Lucy Pevensie in the books.   Will you be going out of town during the round, or is there any other time during the round when it would not be ideal for you to receive a package from your witch? Not really, no.   If you are in school now, what classes are you taking? Does anything you are currently studying really interest you? (if you are not in school, is there anything you are trying to learn?) I am not in school but I teach school (college aged) and I mainly teach composition and technical writing. I personally would like to learn more about gardening, as I am not amazing at it, and I am always trying to learn more about cooking. I consider myself a good cook but there is always more to learn.   Favorite word? I like snarky. I also like wonky. I call my husband smoo-bear a lot, and I like the word smoo. Not really a real word but who cares?!   Steampunk? Not really. I enjoyed Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age but I'm not really into steampunk.   What animal would my daemon be? I took the test and got lots of independent birds or siberian tiger, which I like the sound of: "Independent soul: Peregrine Falcon, Snowy Owl, Snow Leopard, Siberian Tiger, Osprey."   What would your patronus be? A polar bear.   Would you like a bag of dried Honeycrisp apples? Sure, I like dried fruit to stash in my office (apples, apricots, and banana chips mostly). I also like those freeze-dried fruits that some stores carry called "Just Fruit" (or "Just Cherries," "Just Apples," etc.).   If you were to receive a knitted item (such as a scarf, hat, etc), what colors would you like? And do you have any sensitivies/allergies to any materials? No sensitivities, although the softer and fuzzier the better! I would love something in black, baby pink (not hot pink), or rainbow. Bonus points for fringe or glitter! Gift Certificate: physical or email? There are few big-box places around me: Wal-Mart, Applebee's, McDonald's, that sort of thing. So really, if I would be able to use it, it would have to be online!   What places to do you visit that you'd like a gift card to? Starbucks, Target, Wal-Mart, B&N, a favorite restaurant or clothing shop? Sephora. Bath and Body Works. Olive Garden (we drive 1/2 hour to get to one so it's a special sometimes treat). Outback (same thing). Target (same).   Favorite Yankee Candles? Or other brands scents? I don't really buy them enough to have specific favorites with one exception: Leaves by Slatkin. Other than that, I like lavender, vanilla, strawberry, pineapple, coconut, fall leaves, and cherry scented candles.   Would you like a zuni animal fetish? And if so, what animal? I honestly don't know what I would do with one; sorry.   Glow in the dark radishes? No.   Cake or Frosting? Neither--I like pie better! Gooseberry pie, butterscotch pie, or french silk pie ... yum! If I do have to eat cake, I like red velvet with buttercream frosting or carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. But cake is not my #1 dessert. Are you interested in mini bottles(under 100ml for hand luggage) of bath and body products? Sure--I enjoy keeping a bottle of lotion in my purse when my hands feel dry, and I like taking things with me to test out. Just no soaps. Vampire shows, literature, etc? Yay or nay? No on the TV shows but yes on vampire lit and movies. I'm not big on Twilight but anything else is fair game. Love the Anne Rice Vampire series and loved Bram Stoker's Dracula (film).   Cake truffles? If YES! Cake/icing/chocolate type? Those look cute! I would love red velvet/buttercream or vanilla frosting; carrot cake; cream cheese or vanilla frosting; or chocolate with vanilla frosting. If you play console video games, what game systems do you have and what games would you love to have? We pretty much have everything except super new consoles. What we have: PS1, PS2, XBox, XBox 360, Nintendo (gray old-school kind), Nintendo DS. I'd love to have a copy of Bubble Bobble for the Nintendo! I love playing that game.   How do you all feel about flowers and plants? Flower and plant seeds? Drawings of flowers or plants? Pressed flowers? Flowers and plants, great! Flower and plant seeds, fantastic! I'd love poppy seeds, wildflower mix, or veggie seeds (carrots, beets, lettuce, spinach, tomato, etc.)--preferably things that will grow in the mountainous area of Colorado (6,500 feet). No drawings or pressed flowers, though.   How do you feel about marzipan? Love it! I love anything with it inside, or even those little marzipan shapes. I love the scent and taste of almonds. Almond cookies, almond pastries ... I even add almond extract to my peach pies! Find your iPod (or other MP3 device), put it on shuffle/random. What are the first five songs to come up? 1. Pop Goes My Heart (from Music and Lyrics soundtrack) (That movie is classic) 2. Oman--Dead Can Dance (<3 Dead Can Dance) 3. Get Your Money--will.i.am 4. Friday Night Saturday Morning--Nouvelle Vague (I love this version) 5. Garden of the Arcane Delights--Dead Can Dance   this amuses me, so I'll do 5 more: 6. I'm Getting Sentimental Over You--They Might Be Giants (one of my favorite bands and where my username is from!) 7. When the Angels Fall--Sting 8. Channel Z--B-52's (love them!) 9. In the Morning--Junior Boys 10. Something About Us--Daft Punk (I like them a lot) If you could have 3 BPAL bottles fall (gently) out of the sky right this second that you've been looking for or pining for - which 3 would they be?: Spanked. Blue Pumpkin Floss prototype. Jingo Kogo prototype. I have rich wishes, eh?   Is there anything from the 'Ween BPTP update that you would like but haven't ordered for yourself? I'm waiting on decants but I have a feeling I'll want Licorice Bats. I'd really like Nut Crack Night but probably won't order it for myself.   Are there any international treats that you love and have a hard time finding? Torrone. I love nougat with an unholy passion. I also like Crunchie bars--chocolate with sugar honeycomb inside. Finally, Aero bars, especially the mint flavor.   Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go to last.fm immediately and create an account! Download the scrobbler! Link us to your account! I actually don't have speakers hooked up to my computer right now, so I'm not really listening to music on my comp. So.....   If you reject this assignment, maybe just tell us what your mp3 player says you listen to a lot? iTunes says that I have listened to these things the most: The Bloodhound Gang, Legend in my Spare Time; Orbital, Ska'd for Life; Daft Punk, Technologic; Nine Inch Nails, Discipline and Echoplex; B-52's, Mesopotamia; Mindless Self Indulgence, Revenge; Madness, The Prince; Martin Gore, In My Other World. So clearly, it's all over the place!   Is there any country you particularly like, or are interested in? Japan. Also England as my family is from there, far back.   Are you a foodie? Yes! I teach a course about food and we read Alice Waters, Anthony Bourdain, etc. I love eating and thinking about recipes, cooking techniques, etc. Today I have a short rib beef stew with ale bubbling away at home. This week we'll have hominy and zucchini stew with buttermilk honey cornbread and chicken stuffed with feta, spinach, and pine nuts, for example. I make a menu each week and it's a fun part of my weekend. I'd love any recipes you'd like to share.   Do you like journals/notebooks/sketchbooks? I do! I keep diaries--have done so since I was nine (and still have those)--and I love to have actual journals to write in. I prefer lined paper rather than blank paper, though--my weirdness about wanting to stay within the lines is evident.   If your witch made you something and it didn't come out just right, would you still want it? Of course! Often the imperfections are what make things unique and interesting.   Sports: Not interested in any sports at all.   Holiday decorations: I am a Grinch I don't decorate. No one to appreciate it here except the critters and husband. And it just makes me think clutter, and I hate clutter. (I know! Totally the Grinch.)   How do you feel about stationery, like nice pens or notepaper? And if you're in favor, do you prefer classic/contemporary or cutesy stuff? Yes, and the cuter the better. I love Japanese stationery with cute little animal characters on it. If it's just something with my name or initial on it, then contemporary is nice. I do actually write letters so I enjoy having stationery.   Would you like homemade preserves (e.g. marinated veggies, pickled onions, chilli jam?). That would be awesome as I love trying other people's foodstuffs. I like jams more than jellies and I love pickles and pickled vegetables. If you have a great chutney that would be cool for nights we eat curry. And I would love your tried and true recipes.   Soundtracks you'd like? I fell in love with the soundtrack to Scott Pilgrim versus the World and would love a copy, burned or real!   If you could see one concert right now, who would it be? I would die if XTC would play--or just Andy Partridge. However, for my more realistic wishes, I'd like to see Mindless Self Indulgence again. They put on a good show.   If you've got stuff on your BPAL wishlist, would partial bottles be okay? Of course! I love it all--imps, decants, partials.   Would you like something you have to make yourself? Only if it's food! I can't knit, crochet, etc.   Say you were my witchee, and I found things on your wishlist that I could totally make. Would you want me to make it? Or would you rather it be purchased for you? Either one! It kind of depends what it is. If it's perfume oil, I'd rather not have hand-made oils as I don't really know what is in there, etc. But if it's food, something crafted, etc., that would be neat.   Soap etailer: Please no soap! What kind of make-up do you wear? What colors? Is there anything you'd like to try but haven't yet? I feel like I probably covered this pretty well in my questionnaire, but if I didn't, let me know. I would like a few things from MAC's Venomous Villains collection (My Dark Magic, She Who Dares) and I am nowhere near a MAC store. And really, almost any of their Dazzleglasses, Dazzle lipsticks, Antique Green pigment, and new nail polishes (Concubine, Imperial Flower, Earthly Harmony, Ming Blue, Jade Dragon, Rain of Flowers) look beautiful.   What about vintage decoration items, teacups, etc.? Tea cups I could actually drink out of would be cute. Otherwise, I don't do a lot of vintage stuff in decorating--my home decorating style is very contemporary and modern.   With regards to your gifts, would you prefer your presents' awesomeness evenly spread out (several packages of pretty terrific things) over the round or a slow build-up of awesomeness (going up from pretty cool things to something super-duper cool at the end) to go out with a bang? Do you have a preference? Either one--I trust you! And I am actually really excited that my birthday (33) comes during the round (well, okay, right at the end of the round: Nov. 20). Do you crave many Ecards and contact or are you okay with little contact from your Witch? I do love a lot of contact and you've been fantastic so far *mwah*   Who would be on your top 5: Crispin Hellion Glover. Eric Wareheim. Alan Rickman. Uh, and um. I don't know. Ha!   Do you have a place where you list all the BPAL you have or have tried? I have a spreadsheet, actually, but it's a tiny bit out of date. I can tell you that I have tried almost all the GCs with a few that have come out recently as exceptions (Bread and Butter-fly, Roses Pearls and Diamonds, etc.), none of the Vamps except VILF (really interested in Tombeur), a lot of LEs, got sniffies of everything Halloweenie and Trading Post update. My list of "want to try" items on my wishlist (linked in sig) is pretty accurate for the most part.   If you are a tea-drinker do you need a tea-cozie for your pot? I actually don't have a tea pot--I either heat water in a small saucepan or an electric kettle. So no.   Do you like maple sugar candy? Yes--I love maple. And it makes me think of Little House on the Prairie!   What is your position on the chocolate & bacon flavor combination? NOOOOOOO.   Go to your spice cabinet. What are the three most used spices? Oregano, roasted Saigon cinnamon, and basil. Close runner up to garlic powder.   Microsoft or Apple? Both! I have a Mac at school, a PC at home, and a Mac laptop.   Where was your last vacation? What did you like most? Um. It's been a while since I took a vacation *blush*   Would you appreciate receiving handwritten letters and/or postcards (anonymous or not)? How about sending them? Yes! and Yes.   Do you hate any food things with a passion? Cilantro ... but you knew that   Would you be opposed to receiving a digital version (via email) of a magazine you like but don't subscribe to...you know, in the interest of saving a tree? I'm sorry trees! But I like physical copies of things.   If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Since making a scarf for someone who has 10 might be a smidge excessive? Also, how do people feel about shawls? Not really. My order of preference would be SOCKS! Then scarf, then shawl. Leg and arm warmers would be cool too. No hats--don't wear hats. Is there a TV, movie or literary character that you are a lot alike, or would like to be alike? I'm a cliche, but I often feel like Holden Caulfield. I'm cynical and going gray early, what can I say.   Is there anything you need for your kitchen: measuring cups, spoons, grater, etc.? Red tea towels/hand towels. A better beer bottle opener. Mine is just a cap-off thing on a magnet. It's pretty sucky. I'd love something that would be cute *and* open beers. (As I homebrew, we drink a lot of beer around here.)   Music: Do you prefer Live or Studio? Edited or explicit? Studio. I'm not a fan of live--I hate the audience sounds! Explicit, please. Edited just doesn't do it for me. I'm very hard to offend so profanity or strange lyrics won't bother me.   If you are an animal lover, is there a specific type/breed that you love most? Kitties! Especially black kitties and tabby cats. All my boys are tabbies. Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Shiba Inus, and Siberian Huskies. Squirrels, ferrets, and rats. I'm a big ol' animal softie. The only animals I don't like are monkeys/primates.   Also flowers and plants- If you like flowers/plants, do you have a favorite(s)? Gladiolas.   Do you have a favorite quotation? Song lyric? Book passage? Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life. Aim above morality. Be not simply good; be good for something. -- Henry David Thoreau   Is there anything you would like that can be delivered over the internet? Things like fanfic recs, cat macros, mp3s you are looking for, how-to or amusing videos, things like that. OMG Cat Macros, yes. Send me all your cat pictures. And videos. And amusing internet stuff. Yes. All of that would make me happy.   What is a bpal scent that you've been dying to try for awhile but just can't find? (A scent where even a tester would do) The Girl or Tombeur.   What would your last meal be if it could be anything in the world (sky is the limit, drinks too, the whole shebang)? I will be a glutton. Extra-krispy fried chicken breast from KFC. A piece of my mom's pecan pie. McDonald's french fries. I will wash it down with a bottle of Dom Perignon.   NaNoWriMo? NaNoTimeOh.   How do you feek about silly, funny knick-knack, dollar store stuff, stickers, magnets etc? Would you like receiving that kind of stuff or rather not? Clutter *twitch* although magnets and stickers are welcome. No knick-knacks though, please.   Is there a specific book you've been wanting to get but haven't found the time or the opportunity to? See my paperbackswap list! Do you read mangas/watch animes? Which ones? Do you have a particular favourite? Would you like to receive mangas or anything related to them? Um, I like Miyazaki's films. Also like Azumanga Daioh. No manga. I love Totoro from My Neighbor Totoro and the dust sprites, too.   Are you open to receiving things that are not on your wishlist, maybe something your Witch thinks you might like? Of course!   If you have something on a wishlist that we could craft INSTEAD of buying, though it might not end up identical to the wishlist thing, would it be okay to craft it instead? Obviously we don't want to copy anyone else's design, but if we can replicate the flavour or intent that you like without stepping on toes? Sure; if you can, go for it.   OK, I know that lots of folks love socks. Do you have a preference of length? Materials? Patterns? Knee length. Not ankle. No lace ruffles. Love argyle, stripes, and interesting patterns. Hate polka-dotted anything or animal print anything! Materials: Chenille, soft and fuzzy things, sparkly, shiny.   How do people feel about word magnets? Cluttery.   If I were to knit a scarf, would you prefer a skinny one, or a wide one? A short one, that when wrapped once around your neck will just tuck under your jacket, or a long one, at least to your waist? Don't like scarves? Would a rectangular shawl or triangular shawl be more to your taste? Skinny, long scarf! I actually do wear scarves when it gets cold here, which it will, so a scarf would be welcome. Bonus points if it has fringe or pompoms!   If you could have any costume, or if you aren't into costumes, necklace or other accessory, from any movie character, what would it be? Um, I don't really wear costumes all that much, but I'd put together an Alice costume--blue dress, blonde wig, etc. and little bunny purse like they have on Sockdreams!   What are you guys going to be aiming for in the Inquisition? Licorice Bats sounds fantastic, as do the bath oils and Candy Apple whateveryoucallit. I'm getting decants of everything so I can try them out.   Custom fangs? No.   How do you feel about recipes? I love them! Send them on.   What kind of a cook/baker are you? I tend to cook every day. Dinner revolves around what was in our CSA box for the week and what's interesting. I do lots of slow cooker/crock pot stuff in the school semesters. I am not afraid of long or complicated recipes though. I like recipes that call for real ingredients, not cream-of-something soup and meat. I mostly bake cookies, brownies, or pies. I don't tend to make cakes as they are not my first choice for dessert.   If I send you something homemade would you like the recipe for it? Yes, please, if you're willing to share.   How about home made mixes or kits? Kind of like the cookie in a jar thing, where you would need to add the perishable ingredients? For baking, sure. Not like soup mixes and stuff like that. If you can and have a good pickling spice, that would be neat. I'd almost prefer just the recipe and/or the real baked good, though, instead of getting the mix stuff--unless they are ingredients I don't have easy access to here.   Are there any particular movies, tv shows or cd’s that you’ve been meaning to buy for years but just never got round to getting? Would you mind a gently used dvd/cd if your witch had it or could get it?? Certainly. Used is great. Cube, Cube Zero, Arrested Development, Mono Puff's Unsupervised CD.   Is there anything from the Possets' Hallowe'en update you're lusting after? No Possets. They don't work on my skin.   Violette Market update? Nope.   Would you like a custom/altered toy either from a seller or from your witch (like My Little Pony, or a Barbie or any particular toy that can be changed?) No, thank you.   Do you like the candy apple, candy corn or pumpkin spice kisses? I haven't tried them. They sound interesting and I'd give them a whirl.   Witchee, do you like jewelry that looks back? NOOOOOO eyes bad. Sorry, but that jewelry was creepy. And uh, no vagina jewelry or accessories either, please.   Anne Taintor, anyone? Not really my style.   Which web comics do you enjoy? XKCD, Dinosaur Comics, CTRL-ALT-DEL, PVP, Penny Arcade, Hark a Vagrant, Married to the Sea, Natalie Dee.   Who likes hair toys, and if so what kind? Love them--anything dangly, sparkly, etc.   Does any art we may send need to be child safe, either in the actually safe sense or the non X rated sense? Nope. No children here to worry about.   In the knitted/crocheted things area, would you want wrist warmers, 1/2 gloves, a neck warmer (the kind that pretty much just goes around your neck and maybe fastens instead of being long and loose like a scarf), slippers, or hats? No hats or wrist warmers. 1/2 gloves could be interesting--are those like fingerless gloves? A neck warmer maybe. Honestly slippers would be the best *of these choices*   How do you feel about altered/recycled/upcycled items of clothing or accessories? Love them!   What is your favourite habitat and climate to live in? How about to visit? (ie. forest, canyons, mountains, by the beach; temperate, tropical...) Not at all humid. Dry, but not arid desert--some green. Someplace with seasons and leaves turning, but not too much snow. To visit would be someplace like Hawaii as it's so different from where I am now. I live in the mountains at 6,500 feet. How do people feel about edible arrangements? No thanks--I would rather have some cookies or something you made yourself.   Anyone need address/phone type books? Nope-I am set!   I wondered if my witch or any witch would enjoy things like nice pens to draw with or anything similar? Yessss. Anything but pencils. I would loooove a set of colored Sharpies. I always pass them and want, but don't buy for whatever reason. I heart Sharpies. As a teacher, Expo markers are a must. I love the colors and especially scented ones.   Do you read/like fantasy? What kind of books or authors do you love? Which one would you like to read? Would you like gifts related to it? No fantasy--I like sci fi, and harder at that. I did like His Dark Materials and Harry Potter but that's as close as I come. The more vowels in the characters' names (Piers Anthony, I am looking at you) the less likely I am to want to read.   Am I alone in this, or is there a Book Fair/Comic Con scent you're dying to get your paws on, too? I would love Sibyl but I'm pretending it doesn't exist (for my sanity).   Lipbalms: flavor preferences? tube/squeazything type or lip pots? Flavors: fruits (strawberry, cherry, lime, lemon); vanilla; chocolate; interesting or odd flavors (chai? licorice? cinnamon?) I raise chickens and am curious about the Chicken Poop "flavor." No pots--tubes preferred, then squeeze tubes. Oh, and I have of course already professed my love for Bath & Body Works' lip glosses. Does anyone do altered books? Would you be interested in old books to alter? Any type or title in particular? I'd love one that you've done, but I am afraid that I lack the craftiness to be able to really do it well enough to my standards.   Did someone ask about incense yet? Would you like some? Something to store or burn it in? What scents? What form? Sure--I love incense in all forms. Cone, stick, powder--I have the stuff to burn any of it. I like earthy/heady scents best--patchouli, vanilla nag champa, golden amber. Not so much on the super-fruity scents or florals. Any oddball free things you collect or would want saved for you? Coke Points. I save 'em and get stuff with them.   If you happened to be my Witchee, is there something you'd like from the Arcana Halloween update? No.   How many bottles of BPAL do you have? Oh god. Almost 200 I think. A lot.   Is there any exercise program that you're interesting in learning? Meditation, Yoga, Pilates, Belly Dancing, Zumba ect? Or if you do any of these (or anything else sport related) are there any things you need/want? Candles, music, mats, water bottles etc.? Nope.   Anyone else into Emily Autumn? Don't know who this is. You could enable me.   What's on your walls? Please show us up to three paintings/posters/whatever. If you love a painting so much that you would steal (to watch it with your greedy eyes) one, please share. I am minimalist--I have no art on the walls. I have the quote from Thoreau I posted earlier on one wall and black trees with red birds you can see in my blog on other walls.   do you like Girl Scout cookies? What kind? SAMOAS now and forever. Thin Mints are nice too, but Samoas .... the caramel.   What's your take on homemade apple butter? Want some? Sure, I love apple butter!   Do you like garlic? Do you REALLY like garlic? Would you want to try some really unusual garlic stuff, like garlic cheese or garlic fudge or garlic chocolate, etc., etc., etc.? I like garlic and am up for anything.   Can I talk to you about the living dead? How do you feel about Zombies? They're okay but not a favorite. I liked Shaun of the Dead. I hated World War Z.   Do you have a deviantart print wishlist or favourites list? No.   Is there anything from Blooddrop that you want to try? GC? Halloween update? No.   What kind of shoes do you need/want? What size shoes do you wear? Would you mind gently used shoes? I love shoes. I wear ballet flats mostly. Used or new is fine--I thrift shop shoes for myself. I really, really want shoes like these. OMG so cute!   Do you like paper dolls (new or vintage) or coloring in books? No.   Do you like weird scary things as traditionally girly fashion items like heels and handbags? It depends really. I wear a lot of black and like certain weird looking things, but not others. I'm so specific, sorry!   What song is on heavy rotation for you right now? Ska'd for Life by Orbital. Dave Gahan's Hourglass album. Old Depeche Mode.   Are you coveting any of the NYCC atmospheric sprays? Not really. Steeplechase Hut and The Blondes sound nice but unless you're already going, don't knock yourself out to get them.   If you could get any one thing hand-painted from your witch, what would it be and what would be on it? Actually--a sign for the chickens' house. With a cute chicken on it or something!   Would you (assumin' you're a yarnie) be interested in a naturally-dyed yarn that's designed to very gradually fade with washing? No yarn.   If you have played before, what are some of the most memorable things you've gotten? What really made you go WOW? If you haven't played, same thing, but not limited to SW. Things that made me wow: Handmade things. I love those. Also things that really said that my witch paid attention to my likes and dislikes. Lioness was my witch last time and she got me Zombie Kitty Shoes from etsy. Every time I wear them I think of her!   If you could make a scent that represents where you live (or have lived), what would be the ingredients? I live in a little ski resort kind of town that is a bit ... casual. And medical marijuana is legal. So it would smell like hippies who just smoked up and are eating vending machine cookies. (I wouldn't want to wear it but that's what it would smell like!)   If your witch worked for, say, Starbucks, would you like any coffee/instant coffee/tea? No coffee but Tazo tea, yes!   Are you in need of Roller bottles or anything of the like? No; I prefer to keep my perfumes in the original bottles.   Is there one scent that is your go to for comfort on a bad stressful day? Like the perfume equivalent of a security blankie? Yes--Underpants.   What are you going to be for Halloween? Probably nothing, but if I do, a black cat. (I could use some ears!)   Is there something just super random you like/enjoy/want/are ogling that has not been and will not be covered by any other questions, because it's just that WEIRD? Not really ...   Villainess has an update. Anyone wanting anything from it? I just tried one of their scrubs and liked it. I wouldn't mind trying more. how are all the witchees fixed for purses--lunchbags, etc? I'm good.   Now, I have a question for you. About notes. Which are your favourite ones? Do you have a kind of "note top ten?" Anything that works particularly well on you? Do you have a perfume category (foody, floral, aquatic, musky) that you favour? And are there any notes you have never tried, but think would work well on you? I think I have this pretty well covered in my wishlist. Would you like a sugar skull decorated by your witch? Or do you like sugar skull stuff in general? No, thank you--I'm not really sure what I would do with it, unless it was a cat sugar skull, but can you do that? So, who here loves pomegranates? Are they good as a fruit, a flavoring or just a scent? I like them but nothing amazing. I don't like the BPAL pomegranate note, though.   Haunt Update? Nope.

Switch Witch Questions (Halloween Round)

Yay for another round! Plus it's during fall and Halloween ... my favorite season and holiday.   Do you like pinup art/images? They're okay, but not really my style.   What are your plans for Halloween? Have you made any yet? Do you have any traditions? Sadly, I'm probably not going to be doing too much. I don't really know that many people in my town and most are undergrads, and I don't want to hang out with them because I'm a teacher at their school. Just a weird boundary for me.   Who are your BPAL forum buddies? You know, people I could conspire with to Witch you!   Sunshinedaisybliss comes to mind. I've swapped with her a couple of times and she's really sweet.   What is your favorite color? Pink, probably. Or red. Any other steampunk fans/lovers? I'm not really a big steampunk fan. Describe your ideal picnic lunch. Where would you go? Who (if anyone, and yes there can be multiple people) would accompany you? What sort of food would you take? And, of course, if a picnic lunch sounds like a horrible idea, feel free to say so!   I love picnics up at a lake nearby, especially in summer. We take our picnic basket with a big ol' deli sandwich, salt and vinegar chips, and something good for dessert from the little French bakery along with some Rolling Rock and just sit and watch the scenery. It's beautiful.   Any Gamers here? What kind? Board games? RPG? Miniature? MMORPG? I play console video games. I love the Silent Hill series, Parasite Eve series, and fun games (Animal Crossing, little puzzle games). Is anyone playing this round of SW into ABJ? (asian ball jointed dolls) No. What is your favorite Halloween icon? Black cats! I love black cats and they are such a perfect Halloween image. Imagine that you're given a shoebox-sized time capsule, and you are asked to put any number of items in the box that symbolize who you are. The items can be may be anything you can imagine, and money is no object, but they must fit within the box. Which items do you choose?   I would put a Heinlein book, to represent my love of reading and science fiction, and a Stephen King book for horror. I would put a classroom grading book since I teach. I would put a bottle of my homebrewed beer, though it would probably go bad. I would include a vial of glitter and a bottle of perfume, probably BPAL of course! I would have little icons of cats and other small fuzzy friends and some pictures of me and my family. Finally, a can of Diet Coke   Are you involved in any long-term, ambitious project? something like decorating your house or saving for a trip to the other end of the world, for example. Husband and I would like to buy a house within the next year, so we're saving up for that. We did buy a house in Dec. 2009! Favorite kind or take out kinda burger? Whats your burger preference? Veggie, meat or ???? I love In-N-Out burger and find it a travesty that there are none around me! I'll make do with a good medium-rare burger, blue cheese on top, maybe some sauteed mushrooms and onions, mayonnaise, some garlic powder too for seasoning, and lettuce/tomato/dill pickle.   Whats your favorite childhood toy? I had tons of My Little Ponies and Charmkins. I blame Charmkins for my early interest in things that smelled good!   If you have a pet, what kind of gifts would be good for them? The cats love catnip, toys, and soft treats of any kind. The rats love things to chew on, seed and nut snacks, and yogurt-cheese snacks specially made for rats.   Do you Tweet? What is your Twitter name? I don't tweet but I'm on Twitter as Ondiney.   Are you on Ravelry? What is your Ravelry name? No. What are everyone's favorite Halloween-y/Autumn-y/spooky movies? Are there any you don't own but would like to? I can't say there are any particular movies I like that are Halloween related. I used to love the Garfield Halloween special when I was a kid I love the Cube movies (Cube, Cube Two: Hypercube, and Cube Zero) and would love to own them. (I do own Cube Zero.)   Are roasted pumpkin seeds and home made chex mix the best fall snack foods, or what? Ehhh ... I will leave that to you "Puppy chow" is good though! I like sweet more than salty.   Whats your favorite pie, my dear SW's? Gooseberry. Hands down my favorite and hard to find. Also butterscotch and cherry.   What kinda socks are you wearing tonight? Fuzzy pink ones. It's cold out and I love warm socks for fall. Do you like socks? Blankets? Wrist warmers? Arm warmers? Headband? Shawl? Or what kind of knitted thing would you love the most?   I love socks with a passion. Stripey socks are awesome but I love socks of all kinds. Really anything knitted would be beautiful and treasured since I can't knit at all.   How do you feel about ghost stories? Do you like to tell the old tales around a campfire? Read true accounts on the web way past your bedtime? Do you like to pick up a good anthology of Poe stories on a blustery day? Or is all that too scary for you?   I love horror and dark science fiction. I am all about scary stories. I used to read them in the dark basement before bed and scare myself silly!   Who here is LOVING Warehouse 13? What is this? Oh, I Googled it ... I don't watch TV.   Nother question! Coffee or Tea? NO coffee, please. Tea. I love fruit teas, black teas, white teas. Not so much green teas. Love fruit flavors (strawberry, cherry, peach, raspberry), rose, vanilla, spice, chai, ginger, lemon, chocolate.   Interested in locally produced products? Food, skincare or both?Olive oil? Lavender oils or soaps? I would really love honey from your local area. I make mead and I'm into honey. I do also dig lavender and some lavender oil would be beautiful. I think local stuff is all part of the fun of this, so please send local nifty things if you'd like! I would treasure them. No soap though please. Does anyone in here wear a lot of dangly earrings or collect pendants of all kinds?? How about hair clips or pony tail band things? Yes, yes, yes. Shiny, sparkly, fun, all the better. I wear my hair back a lot so headbands, pony holders, clips are all great. And jewelry is awesome.   What is your favourite historical period? The 80s ... can I say that? I love the music, the clothing (don't laugh) except for the huge shoulder pads, and many of the movies. What other hot beverages everyone likes for fall? Hot cider! Hot cocoa too. Mint cocoa is great. I especially love spiced cider.   Did you order anything from the most recent update? Not yet. I'm waiting on decants of Halloweenies and a decant of Mircalla, which sounds up my alley.   Vampires or Werewolves? Or some other monster? I like vampires better than werewolves, but I like basilisks even better What sort of odd or regional foods do you crave? I miss White Castles, In-N-Out burger, Steak and Shake, Arby's Jamocha shakes, and concretes from Ted Drewes. I love candy and treats from other countries.   If you could decorate/redecorate any 1 room in your home, what would it be and how would you decorate it?   We rent, so it's not really an option, but someday, my plan is to have a midnight blue bedroom and put dangling paper star lights from the ceiling along with twinkle lights on the ceiling for a night sky look!   Any rabid sports fans out there? What teams do you root for? Not at all. I don't like sports.   You're in the kitchen at the end of a pay period and groceries are scarce. Do you take the five ingredients you find first and make something fabulous, or do you order take out? I'd cook. It'd be like a challenge. Unless of course my five ingredients are all condiments. Then it's pizza night!   Favourite animal: Always cats. I love cats (domestic especially and big cats too). I also love polar bears, especially baby polar bears like Flocke. So cute!   This is how the world ends... zombie apocalypse, robot uprising, alien invasion, return of the elder gods... which doomsday scenario do you prefer (or make your own!)? Benevolent aliens come to destroy our earth fairly peacefully. Think The Day the Earth Stood Still, only we die in the end!   In the year 2525... if man is still alive... what sort of future do you imagine? I really hope we've advanced some and can solve some of the pressing questions of today.   Do you believe in magic (or magick, if you prefer)? What does it mean to you? Yes. I believe that people can be psychic and I think sometimes I have a little bit of intuition that helps me make decisions. I believe Tarot can be used in harmony with a good reader to learn more about decision-making. I believe in candle rituals with the use of TALs to concentrate on good outcomes. I buy small candles and anoint them with TAL oils, then light them while thinking about my intended outcome. If you found the puzzle box from Hellraiser, what would you do with it? ( and would you be able to resist playing with it?   I've never seen Hellraiser but I imagine I'd bury it!   Any cooks? Could you use anything cooking related? Aprons? Cookbooks? Measuring Cups? Recipes? Herb/Spice containers? Fancy Spices? Dish Towels? Cocktail napkins? Amazing Beaded Pot Holders? (like from our very own Pottersville! ) Something else?   I cook every single day and would love cooking related stuff. Cookbooks are wonderful, especially dessert ones (ice cream! I have Perfect Scoop though) and regional ones. I love old church cookbooks with cream-of everything recipes. I have an apron but a handmade one could be sweet. Recipes you love and treasure are FANTASTIC! Herbs and spices you like and think I'd enjoy (I love curries, for instance). I can always use dish/tea towels especially embroidered or cute. Basically if it's handy, special to your area, or you love it, I'd love it too.   Are you an avid reader? What's your favorite book/series? Yes, though I don't have as much time as I wish. I like science fiction and horror and comedy. I love Stephen King but have almost all of his books. I like Gaiman and am missing quite a few.   What's your favorite candy to stock up on at Halloween?   I like Butterfingers, Snickers, caramel apple pops (!!!) What are your phobias?   I hate being in elevators, especially alone. I also don't like tight, enclosed spaces.   What is your favourite flower (or plant)?   I love gladiolas, mints of all kinds, crazy daisies (daisies dyed colors), and basil.   Duct tape purses and wallets and things are pretty darned cool. Who else thinks so? Nah.   An anonymous benefactor gives you $500 (or an equivalent amount of money in your currency of choice) with the following stipulations. You must spend all of it within a week: any money left unspent must be returned. You must spend at least half of the money on yourself. You may not use it to pay off debts or bills of any kind. What do you do with the money?   Blow it all on makeup, jewelry, shoes, and perfume!   What was your favouritest job ever, and why?   I think when I did medical transcription editing in a small office. I liked everyone and it was quiet and I could do what I wanted.   Which three albums would you take to your apocalypse bolt hole and how would you power the generator?   Depeche Mode, Music for the Masses; XTC, Skylarking; XTC, Black Sea. I'd hook it up to a gigantic battery. Who knows?   What GC scent have you been putting off getting since it'll "always be there"? Antique Lace, a bottle of Snake Oil for aging, Masquerade.   Are you interested in things like home remedies for ailments, cleaning solutions, etc.? No thanks.   Super power? I'd love to fly.   If I send you whole spices or coffee beans, would you be able to grind them or would you prefer them preground for your convenience? No coffee, please, but I have a spice grinder.   For the tea and coffee drinkers: Opinion on tea- and/or coffee-related accessories/etc? (Teaware, sugar crystals, infusers, tea chests, etc)How do you take your coffee (or tea)? Black or with cream and/or sugar? Tea accessories, yay! Sugar crystals are neat. I'd love a tea chest to hold all of mine. They're just jumbled in a drawer right now. I drink my tea cold and without sugar generally. Some teas I drink hot though and with some stevia.   Restaurants you'd like a gift certificate to on Restaurant.com? None--small town, no restaurants around here that are on r.com.   In your perfect world it is chocolate and...? Caramel, minus the chocolate? Chocolate and caramel is good, as is + coconut and + mint. Milk choc only!   How do you scent your home: tarts, reed diffusers, BPAL, candles? Usually nag champa or Fred Soll incense. Sometimes candles but less often--I like them before they're burned Reed diffuser in the bathroom, about halfway finished though.   What's your favorite dessert treat? Ice cream? Cake? Pie? Fudge brownie cake with pie flavored ice cream on top? Creme brulee or tiramisu. Yummmm.   Do you believe we control our destiny, or does our destiny control us? We control it and we have choices.   What one thing that is missing from your life would you like to have above all else? I wish I could find a job I'd be happy doing. I don't love what I do. Many days I don't even like it.   Do sounds make you happy? What ambient noises make you smile? WINDCHIMES. So much. I love windchimes. And cats purring.   When you receive your SW packages...do you like receiving things that are individually wrapped inside? or unwrapped? or both? Doesn't matter! It's fine either way.   Of course, we're all going to be grateful no matter what our witches give us, but for the record, what is your anti-present? Tell us something that you think your future witch might give you that you absolutely, unequivocally DO. NOT. WANT.   I hate soap. Sorry, soap! Nothing against you. I just don't personally use it.   If you do any kind of craft, could you use supplies? What kind? knitting needles, yarn, amazing fabric, pinking shears, cool thimbles or pincushions, jewelry making supplies, beads, etc.?   I'm not too talented of a crafter, but I do make bath and body items, so scented oils to make those items (whether natural, like essential oils, or artificial--either is fine). Something like Daystar's perfume oils--I use those in bath bombs. They have a whole line of LUSH-like scents that are great; I've tried Honey I Washed the Kids and Candy Fluff.   What's your favorite pain-relief remedy or ritual?   Last night I had a terrible back-ache that kept me from sleeping. I took two ibuprofen and put a hot pad on my back and slept on my side. If it hadn't been 1 am I would have taken a very hot bath with some salts to try to help and drink some wine.   What BPAL scent have you never tried but always wanted to? What scent have you tried and LOVED, and haven't been able to get more of and why?   I want to try Pirate Moon because it has red musk in it, but it's aquatic sounding from the reviews, so I'm not sure if it would be good on me or not. I would love a tester of Pirate Moon. I recently fell in love with Ecstasy of Passion, which was dumb since I'll probably never find it anywhere. My trifecta of BPAL is Mitzvah, Underpants, and Spanked: three that I absolutely fanatically love and that are hard to find.   I know we're all scent sensitive here. What are your favorite non-perfume smells? Day in the life stuff?   I don't drink coffee but I do love the smell of it. I like coffee scented perfumes, air fresheners, etc. I love the smell of honeysuckle flowers, bruised mint leaves, and newly mown grass. The smell of beer when it's brewing is fantastic and one of the reasons I love to brew beer! And the smell of my kitties' fur, which I can't liken to anything else.   Coffee drinkers, what types of beans to you like? Kona, Sumatra, Kenya..etc. How do you like them roasted? Do you like flavors, such as hazelnut, vanilla, etc. in your coffee? No coffee, thank you.   Who has a birthday falling in this round? Soooo close but no. My birthday is after the round ends--11/20. I will be 32 this year! For those of us who like chocolate, do you like anything /in/ your chocolate, like fruit, nuts, or for the more daring among us, chilies? Yes! Typically chocolate by itself is a little too heady for me, so I like stuff in it. Chilies are awesome, as are cherries, hazelnuts, marzipan, caramel, coconut, and mint. I don't like peanuts; not too keen on almonds, though they're okay; no citrus fruits like lime, orange, or lemon. Oh, and I do love the sugar foam like in Crunchie bars--sometimes called seafoam or honeycomb. That stuff is the bomb in chocolate.   Are there any childhood shows/movies/games/books/etc. that still hold a really special place in your heart? I loved reading VC Andrews books when I was young and still have all my dog-eared copies and read them (re-reading My Sweet Audrina right now). My two favorite Disney movies were The Secret of NIMH and The Fox and the Hound. I must have watched those over and over. When I was young I played The Legend of Zelda on my Nintendo constantly and I watched Red Dwarf on TV. I tend to go back to comforting things like that a lot--I don't seek the new out often, but instead re-read or re-watch things I loved from long ago.   There has been a lot of talk about chocolate, but none about Candy! What is your favorite Candy? What candy do you hate?   I like hard candies of all kinds, especially the ones that taste like ice cream flavors or fruits or things like that. I like licorice--black licorice--and it reminds me of my dad, who always had licorice around for a snack. I love anything with sour powder on it and the more sour, the better. Those "nuclear warheads" candies are great--they're super-sour. I like dime store candy like Bleeps, Fruit Bon Bons, Root Beer Barrels, and Runts.   I don't like gummy candies, jelly candies, jelly beans, swedish fish, gummy worms, etc. If it's gooey and sticky inside, unless it's caramel, I probably will be grossed out. I can't stand watermelon flavor, so no watermelon gum or hard candy. I don't really like saltwater taffy or Starlight Mints (although I do like mint--just not mint discs).   My husband LOVES Atomic Fireballs and Smarties .   Do you have a Blu-Ray player? No. Do you have any objections to receiving downloads? Is your internet connection fast enough for you to download large files like music easily? No objection to downloads or torrented files. My internet connection is fairly fast but a burned CD or DVD would be easier.   Are there any songs, albums, movies, or TV shows that you can't find/haven't been released that you want?   There's a Mono Puff CD called Unsupervised that is out of print and I can never seem to find that I want.   What's something you're really looking forward to in the semi-near future?   Our two-year wedding anniversary is November 24, which is four days after my birthday, November 20. Also, a little further out, I'm really looking forward to the day we buy our first house. We're not ready yet but hoping next year maybe.   Could you use a 'travel' imp case? How many should it hold? That would be great! It could hold from 3 to 13--I like to travel with a small set of options.   What fictional character do you most identify with and why? Holden Caulfield from The Catcher in the Rye. One of my favorite books and I just love his dry wit, his feeling of alienation and being misunderstood, and being annoyed by everyone else with few exceptions. That's me!   As a witchee, would you prefer to have many little packages sent to you throughout the round with a not-so-big final package or fewer things throughout the round with one HUGE final package to seal the sweetness?   Honestly, I like little packages and e-cards frequently to let me know you're around, but if that's prohibitive for you for whatever reason, one or two larger packages is fine. I just like contact in terms of e-cards, emails, whatever to know you're thinking about SW!   Are you on any social networks (MySpace, Twitter, LJ, Facebook, Bebo, etc)? If so, make with the links! Are you open to new friends?   I'm on MySpace and Facebook but both are private. I'm also on Twitter but don't tweet, just follow.   What kind of socks?   Any kind! I am especially partial to fuzzy socks (chenille, etc.), stripey socks (of all colors and styles), and knee socks. But I have a special place in my heart for all kinds of socks. Pretty much you could go to SockDreams, pick anything, and I would love it. I wear a size 8.5 shoe so I can wear pretty much all socks.   How often do you update your wishlist?   If I'm doing a lot of swapping lately, usually as soon as I get packages in. So sometimes weekly/daily. But then other times I go a while without updating. Plus, keep in mind that my wishlist right now is pretty huge because I'm a completionist and I'm trying (slowly) to smell everything in BPAL-dom. We'll see how long that lasts. My real WISHlist is the top part of the wishlist link I have ... the scents I really want.   May I help you fill out your costuming wardrobe (assuming you costume)? Are there articles you are seeking to enhance your a) Halloween costume, Renfest attire, c) Cosplay, d) Steampunk accouterment?   I go to the local Ren Faire and usually dress up as a pixie in black clothing. I know, really authentic! I love anything that a fairy or pixie might wear, especially in black, blue, or in woodsy tones/colors. There's nothing I'm specifically seeking at the moment, though.   So, who has a store or ETSY shop or knows of a shop of a fellow BPALer that everybody needs to check out? I don't have a store and I have never bought from etsy (although I think it's awesome! just haven't made that step yet)   Who are your favorite artists/illustrators/art periods?   My favorite artist is Van Gogh. I love Monet also and I like Lichtenstein.   What's your stance on cranberries? They're okay in sauces and things. I don't really like them dried or chocolate covered (yuck). I do love the smell of them, though. The Body Shop has cranberry scented things that I love and I can't get normally because we don't have a Body Shop around here.   Do you mind receiving used (in good condition, of course) CDs or DVDs? (I know this question was on the questionnaire about books, but I didn't see one for DVDs or CDs.)   No, not at all.   Do you have a crush on anyone famous? Do you have a crush on any literary characters? Would you like fanfiction or fan art based on this/these people?   Alan Rickman (along with many other Switch Witches!) and Crispin Glover. I'm not really into fanfic but if you're crafty and want to make something cute with pictures of these guys or something, by all means!   You're at home, or out, and you want a snack. Something that will get you through to the next meal, or through to the end of school or what ever. What do you grab?   If I'm feeling healthy, a banana, apple, peach, or other fruit. Perhaps a yogurt or a bagel. If I'm feeling unhealthy, then potato chips or Bugles or cookies.   Do you have a favorite bpal bottle art?   I love the Underpants label (along with it being a favorite scent!) I also think the original Bitter Moon is beautiful--I have a trunk show bottle but I'd love an empty original Bitter Moon bottle so that I'd have the artwork. And I have been trying, and trying, and trying to get a bottle of Bakeneko with the cat on it. I love the little demon kitty and I have three cats, so it's a special bottle to me.   Are there any decants from the Halloweenies, Literary Vampires, Gris Grimly, or Hellboy that you would be interested in receiving? I've gotten decants of the Poes (Grimly), Halloweenies, and smelled Hellboy ones. The only one I didn't jump on that I now see good reviews for is The Girl. I'd kind of like to try The Girl to see if it would work on me despite the jasmine.   What is your idea of the perfect evening at home?   Sitting in front of a crackling fire (in our nonexistent fireplace), drinking hot tea, cocoa, or cider, watching a movie snuggled up with my husband and the kitties are on the couch with us. Then going to bed early and falling asleep easily so that I wake up nice and refreshed!   Most looking forward to in the 'Weenie update: Both Bite Me and Suck It sound right up my alley.   Who likes coloring books? Eh. I love LEGOs ... I use them for teaching! For the crafty people out there: would you prefer something crafted or crafting supplies?   Prefer something crafted, especially fabric/knitted, since I fail at those.   Can you use pill boxes, a hard ID case, coin purse, etc? Not that I can think of.   Any songs you are desperately into at the moment? Nothing desperately. I've been listening to Aphex Twin a lot lately as I grade. Also a lot of Daft Punk.   What's autumn like in your neck of the woods? What do you love and/or hate about it?   It's pretty. It's cool and at night it's perfect for hot tea. I hate the snow, though. I drive a Miata and I refuse to give it up, so it sits lonely for about 4-6 months in the winter if it snows.   What's your favorite product(s) at Trader Joe's? None nearby, so I have no clue.   If you're caught in front of the tv, what are you watching? A movie, since I don't watch TV!   Any Amy Brown art fans? Is she the one who does fairies and whatnot? No thanks.   How do you feel about Halloween music? (mix CDs, what have you) Ummm ... I guess I would tend more toward the goth side of the music and not near novelty Halloween music. Like, Ministry's "Every Day is Halloween" = good! "The Monster Mash" = bad.   Who else is reeeeeally looking forward to Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland? Not really. Burton's okay but not a favorite, and those promo pictures of Johnny Depp are creeping me out!   Is there a store that you love which does not have a location near you (but that has a physical presence somewhere, not just online? Why do you love it so much? Sephora and LUSH because I love their products.   Lolcats....yeah or nay? Heeeeeeeeeck YEAH! I love lolcats and I read I Can Has Cheezburger every single day.   What is your favorite creepy folk story or legend? I don't have one.   If your witch were to either write something for you or put together a collection of ghost stories, would you rather have it in writing, recorded as an oral telling, or both? Written, I suppose.   If you had the funds to commission an original painting for yourself, what would it be of? What would it be like- colors, size, style? I'd love to have one of my three kitties. And they would be on velvet.   Super villain or vigilante? Super villain.   What mythical or fantastic race of creatures (dragons, unicorns, griffins, elves, dwarves, faeries, etc.) do you most identify with, and why? I love the phoenix and I have a tattoo of a black phoenix on my lower back, gotten long before I knew BPAL existed! I think unicorns are nice too and I like to believe that the ice bears from His Dark Materials/The Golden Compass exist. My stuffed bear I sleep with at night is an ice bear   How do you feel about Dia de los Muertos? Are you interested in sugar skulls? Catrina (or other) skeleton figurines? I know little about it, despite the fact that I used to live in Tucson, Arizona. However, I would likely find it interesting if you were to share what you know about it.   Do you have a favorite poem or poet? E. E. Cummings is my favorite poet and I like nearly everything of his. Also I enjoy Sylvia Plath.   Would you like to receive something of this nature (sweet diva boxes) from your witch? I love surprises, so that could be really cool, as long as it wasn't ALL soap or something.   Pirate or Ninja? I think ninjas. But I like both. Pinjas? Nirates?   Are there any Gods, Goddess, or other mythological figures of whom you're particularly fond? Bastet because of my love for cats.   Are there any musicals you love? I'm not really a musicals person. However, I did make exceptions for Moulin Rouge, Across the Universe, and Dancer in the Dark. I like musicals where they take contemporary music and work it in to the scenes. I don't like old-time musicals. So my dear Witch, if you have suggestions for me based on the three I listed, please let me know!   How broad are your musical tastes? Pretty broad! I love music. I love receiving mix CDs of new things I might like *hint* I love getting mp3s or even suggestions of new artists or songs. Videos, too. I love watching old 80s videos, like Erasure, New Order, Depeche Mode, Information Society, etc. I can say unequivocally that I Do. Not. Want. country music of any kind, though. Nothing twangy, no bluegrass, no country.   Which of the seven deadly sins is most likely to be your undoing? Gluttony. I love food. I am a foodie. I cook every day and seek out new recipes, new ingredients, new techniques. However, sloth is a close second. I try to spend as much of my day doing as little as possible and I love sleep!   Would a "gift" donation to one of the organizations/causes you support be a great gift, or a lame gift? It would be wonderful. I would prefer donations made to animal organizations, maybe local to me or to you so that I feel the monies will be better spent. Or make a donation of food, blankets, toys, etc. to your local humane society and let me know. I would love that.   You're given the opportunity to apprentice at any trade (or craft) of your choosing for the period of one year. Your mentor may be any currently living person. Which field of study would you choose, and who would be your mentor?   Gads, too many to choose. The first thing that springs to my mind is stained glass. I always found the stained glass in church beautiful. Today I long for a house with stained glass windows. It sounds complicated and just the type of thing for apprenticing. Otherwise, I would go with glassblowing, perfumerie, or jewelry making with silver. Foodwise, I'd love to apprentice under Anthony Bourdain and learn the real ins and outs of being a gastrophile.   Who is musically inclined? What instruments (voice counts) do you play? I sing informally but no instruments. I took piano a long time ago but I don't think I was ever very good.   I have seen a lot of Yankee Candles haters..... Personally I like Yankee Candle (some of them, anyway). Do you or don't you, and if not, what candles do you like? This assumes you like candles. Otherwise, what specific home fragrance do you use?   Sure--I am not a candle snob by any means. I like Yankee's Coconut Bay, Sweet Strawberry, and Christmas Cookies. I have a tart burner and enjoy tarts of all kinds. I tend toward foody scents and fruits, no "clean cotton" or ocean type scents. I tend to burn a lot of incense and really enjoy trying new ones out.   How do you feel about clothing/accessories made from animals? Anti-fur, leather, shells, etc.? Does even faux wig you out? They do not bother me.   I am on an origami crane kick recently, so I wonder if anyone will be interested in origami crane earrings, origami crane in a glass vial (~1.2cm wide) phone charm/pendant or just a container filled with cranes of different sizes.   That would be neat! I actually have a lime green origami crane perched on top of my Mac here!   Would you want candles from this site, and if so, which scents interest you? http://www.darkcandles.com   Those look nice. I would try Attention Whore, Clove, Black Rose, Dark Carnival and Ballsy Broad.   Anyone want a nickname and embroidered headband from PandaBite? No thanks.   Are you into 80s movies (like i am ) if so, which are your favorites and who are your favorite characters?   Not particularly, which is funny given how much I love 80s music!   Do you like Villainess soaps? What are your favorite scents? No soap. Would love to try their perfumes, though!   Do you mind artificial colors in your food? No. Who wants hair pretties?(headbands, barrettes, pony-o's, scrunchies, bobby pins, hair clips, etc)   Yes! My hair is shoulder-length right now and I'm wearing a lot of barettes, headbands, and ponytail holders lately. Would love pretty ones!   If Beth made a perfume called "switch witch" what notes would be in it? Leather, spices, and sugar.   What is your favorite cookie type? Um ... all? Off the top of my head: ginger snaps, molasses cookies, "windmills," iced oatmeal (no raisins!), peanut butter, sugar cookies, sugar cookies with icing, lemon tea cookies, coconut macaroons ...   I have to say, I don't really like chocolate chip cookies, nor do I like cookies with raisins or nuts usually. Peanut butter cookies are great with smooth pb. And I don't like white chocolate, so something like white chocolate macadamia would be gross.   What is one thing you constantly keep with you that you constantly lose?   Ugh, keys! I'm always losing keys and getting locked out of things.   Lusting over anything from the Trading Post lately?   Oceans of Love and Millions of Kisses bath oil! I love orange blossom and honey.   Are you a Miyazaki fan? Do you have all the films you like, or is your collection missing one? Is there any merchandise you want?   I am! I love Ponpoko. I do not own any on DVD, actually. I love Totoro and the little dust balls from Spirited Away.   Do you wear lip gloss/lip balm? if so, what flavors/scents?   I do--usually vanilla or fruit. I have right here a vanilla one and an orange one. I like to have many different flavors/scents to play with. I HATE Carmex, though. What are your favorite fruits?   I love cherries and strawberries most of all, followed by mango, coconut, banana, and pineapple. I hate avocados and watermelon. I'm not big on peaches and grapes; they're just okay.   Do you drink alcohol? Wine, beer or liquor? What is your favorite wine/beer/mixed drink?   Yes--I am a homebrewer of both mead/wine and beer. I love Hefeweizens, Irish red ales, cream ales, and Snakebites (cider + Guinness). For mixed drinks, I usually do a vodka and tonic with lime, extra lime. And for wine, I usually drink Gewurtztraminer and Pinot Gris/Grigio/Noir. And I love hard apple cider.   Do you like to find out there's a package on the way or to receive a tracking number to stalk, or do you prefer surprise packages? Either way! I love surprises but it's also nice to anticipate.   Beet parchment bowl by Margaret Dorfman? Those look AWESOME.   If I were your witch, and I wanted to make you a spell or mojo bag, would you be into that? or would you want it for a certain element? or would you want it for something more personal- and what might that be? I would love one for concentration/drive. I am so flighty in terms of sitting down and doing things.   Lollyphile? Oh my gosh, that place looks great. I like unusual flavored candies. I would pick lavender, bourbon, or White Russian! No bacon or wasabi ginger though. Or I'd go for the Boozy mixed pack!   Would you object to anonymous postcards (real ones) from your witch before the big reveal???   That would be really cool. I love getting actual, honest-to-goodness mail: letters and such.   Do you collect new/used stamps? Will you like to get stamps on your mails?   I'm not a stamp collector.   For you tea drinkers, are you partial to tea bags or loose tea? How about tea paraphernalia?   I drink both, but I actually prefer tea bags for iced tea and loose for hot tea. So, a fruit tea would be great in bags; a chai or a spicy tea would be good loose. I love the colored sugar at SBS teas and colored or fancy sugar in general.   Have you ever considered paper bead jewelry?   They look very cute, and I tend to like jewelry of all kinds.   I was wondering how you feel about burned DVDs. And do you have/want Repo?   I don't mind burned/downloaded anything. I don't know much at all about Repo ... enable me!   How do you feel about stationery? (pens, notepads, cards, pencils, etc.)   I love stationery--writing paper or cards. I have some small cards from the last round, but I just used up my last page of actual writing paper yesterday. I love designs that are cute or Japanese stationery. I write letters to friends so it's always handy to have writing paper, stickers, cute stuff like that. I don't use pencils; only pens.   WKAP scents?   Nah. I smelled the protos at Convergence and I was unimpressed. Nothing really calls to me and I'd probably rather get the Yules, whatever they will be.   Which shoes do you own that are your favorite? What are your "daily drivers"?   I wear ballet flats constantly. My favorite pair of shoes is a pair that has a design split across both shoes. They're by a company called Camper. One side says "I love you," and the other says "I love you not" and they have little flower petals falling! They're adorable. I enjoy wearing different shoes and they tend to be flats. Oh, and I live in flip flops during the summer.   And I must say, those Vibram shoes talked about in the thread squick me out.   If you could describe yourself in 5 words, what would they be?   All-purpose cultural cat girl! (niche anime reference...)   Who collects ACEOs/ATCs?   Nope.   Do you use henna at all (hair or skin)? No.   What about 2010 Wall calendars? Or 2010 journals or appointment diaries? What subject? I like large wall calendars and usually with images of cats on them. I'm particular about my day planner and buy one certain brand.   What are your thoughts on Halloween decorations?   I have some and they are nice, although I don't go all out and it's usually just some candles and whatnot. I can go either way with them-some years I put up decorations, other years I don't.   What tarot card do you most identify with?   I'm still learning tarot so I am not able to answer this question yet.   Are you a Formula 1 fan and will you like a F1 lanyard (& the pass)? No.   Are there any languages other than English that you love?   Japanese. I've tried several times to learn it. I find the kanji beautiful and the culture fascinating.   Who here is a fan of Adagio teas? Would you like some? Favorites? What sounds interesting to you?   I love tea of most kinds and I haven't specifically tried Adagio but would love to. I like black teas with flavoring and rooibos. A sampler to try many things would be fantastic. Otherwise, I tend to love almond, chocolate, mint and blends of the same. I also like strawberry but just by itself usually. And birthday tea fascinates me.   Would you like more contact from your witch? (I'm talking particularly about email)   I love contact--e-cards, email, whatever! Please, inundate me!   Do you like Celtic things? Not particularly.   Can you receive flowers at your address? Would you prefer food or a plant instead?   Yes, but I am weird in that flowers seem so disposable (they die too quickly). I'd love a plant that I could care for inside the house or plant outside (though it's getting cold). Food is always welcome!   Would you mind vintage clothes?   No clothes--I'm too hard to fit. Accessories are fine (hats, jewelry, scarves, socks, etc.)   Decorated journals?   That would be great for my handwritten stuff.   What are your thoughts on Incense? Love it, all kinds (I have charcoal to burn loose).   What about handbags/totes/clutches? I'm pretty set on bags.   Are there any particular movies you want on DVD? What DVD or CD are you embarrassed to admit that you want badly? Nothing I can think of. I want Mono Puff's Unsupervised CD but I'm not embarrassed.   What about stickers?? Stickers are cool, especially glittery or sparkly ones! I put them on my letters.   Do you need anything from the Possets update? Do you want anything from the Haunt update? No. I don't wear Possets/Haunt.   Do you have a celebrity look a like? Not that I know of.   Would you like some homemade food from your witch? Very much!   Comic books/graphic novels? I don't really read them.   What are your feelings towards the Batman Begins or Quantum of Solace movies? They're ok. My husband watches them more than me.   If you had a machine that could take you to an alternate dimension that you could control or would like, what would be in it, who would be there, and how long would you stay?   I would go back in time and go to vet school rather than doing an English PhD. I think I'd be much happier working with animals.   Suppose I have a bottle of something you (my witchee) really wants, and I want to share it with you. Would you like a rollerball bottle made from oil in my own bottle in it? Sure, I'm not picky.

Switch Witch Questions

I will update this as more questions are posted!   What kinds of crafts does everyone either enjoy making or enjoy getting?   I like to bead jewelry and make bath and body stuff. I love getting crafts of the sort that I am not able to make (i.e. knitted, cross-stitched, or embroidered stuff, but especially knitworks). And I'm in awe of some of the beautiful BPAL boxes some people make! I keep my imps in a small decorated box which is somewhat overflowing. I like to keep my bottles upright and so that I can see the labels, though, which keeps me from ever really desiring a box for bottles. I could use an imp box much more than a bottle box.   Oh, and I drink tonnes of tea, all out of some boring tea cups. I know some people are wonderful with pottery and I think that would be really neat, to be able to make some unique tea mugs.   if you're NOT a vegan how would you feel about soaps made with emu oil? Squicked out/concerned about animal cruelty, or willing to try them?   I don't really use soap, but if I did, I wouldn't care.   Do you have a certain type of handmade item that you love to collect? Socks, boxes, jewelry, dolls etc?   I luuuuurve socks of all kinds, especially those with stripeys. I like cute earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. One of my favorites I just got recently had a little tiny fishtank with a goldfish cutout in it. Cute cute cute.   I'm not much of a knick-knacky person otherwise. Now, if someone had the talent to make a little lucky cat, I would treasure it forever and it would likely fit right in with my collection!   Are there any of the BPTP bath oils you adore (particularly ones that you cannot get anymore). What about the room sprays?   I have never tried any Which is weird because I love baths like nobody's business, but I guess I've just missed out on all of the really interesting inquisition ones and then the one I reallllly want to try (Gula), I keep waffling on.   I just used up a goblin squirt of Okiya last night--it's pretty, but I don't know if I want a full size. No, the ones I really loved were Bah Humbug and Goblin of Yuletide Present. I'm interested in trying Snow White, Down the Rabbit Hole, Goblin of Yuletide Past, and Goblin of Yuletide Yet To Come. I really like the atmosphere sprays (from BPAL and other companies too) and give my pillows a few spritzes before bed most nights ... it's soothing. I'm interested in the Samhain spray (Knock A Dolly).   How would you feel about an ultra-girlie shawl or wrap in summer-weight (lace)?   Those are beauuuuutiful. And way up my alley.   what would you think of hand-dyed items?   No thanks--I really don't like tie-dye at all.   How do you feel about hand-knit socks?   Yes please! I love socks and wear them about the house constantly. The fuzzier the better.   For non-US witches: is there anything from the US you'd love that you can't get where you live now?   Well, I'm US, but wanted to mention I love trying exotic teas and spices and getting foreign stationery, cards, stickers, etc. Also foreign recipes are fun to try! I just had Tim Tams and they were gooooood.   How many potential witchees have an iPod, or download MP3s?   Both, and would love mp3s to load onto my iPod (whose name is Sashimi).   Would anyone like bath bombs or bath melts scented with one of their favorite Bpal scents?   Yes! That would be fantastic.   Would you like homemade cinnamon buns or sticky buns?   Another yes! Nom nom nom.   Is there anyone here that likes Hello Kitty or any other Sanrio Characters?   I love Hello Kitty. I visited Japan and went to Sanrio Puroland. I was the only non-Japanese person there and the only adult without children! I still loved it. I like Kitty best, then Chococat.   Ok, for all you shower people, would you like Bpal scented soap? I'm out of soap stuff right now, but if I can get any anytime soon, would that be something that you'd like? Or how about Bpal scented massage bars or solid scrub bars?   No soap, thank you, but massage bars are fantastic, as are scrub bars.   Do you play any online games, like World of Warcraft? If so, what server do you play on, what's your character's name, etc.?   Nope. That's my husband's area, not mine. I play console video games only.   Is there a program you might have missed or show you love which is gone from the airwaves which might be found (or burned) for you by a Witch?   Red Dwarf!!! Also Arrested Development. Either one would be fabulous burned and loved dearly. Also Dead Like Me--great show. I want to name my future corgi Daisy Daisy Adair.   Would you like any recycle/upcycle supplies for your crafting?   Only things to make bath products (i.e., fragrances, scented powders, colors, etc.)   If you were to make a seasonal mix CD for this summer, what would you name it?   I would name it "Where has the time gone?"   Do you collect dolls or miniatures? What kind? Do you like to get new clothes or items for them?   Not really, unless you count lucky cats (maneki neko) and I do have several stuffed dogs. I would love a little stuffed or felted corgi.   So what are people doing with their saturdays so far?   Sleeping in, not doing much at all! It's beautiful   My fiance sent me an early dvd rip of Coraline that he was given (pretty sure it's not been released yet, but I sometimes have a hard time keeping up) and I was wondering if anyone would like a copy of it?   That would be awesome! I enjoyed the book quite a bit.   Are there any single notes (likely non bpal) that anyone is dying to have/try?   Some of my favorite notes are cinnamon, clove, vanilla, strawberry, cherry, coconut, and almond. Single notes of any of those would be great.   And what would you witchees think of a net flick or the likes gift subscriptions? A month of Netflicks vs a DvD?   Unfortunately I already have Netflix (and love it!) so that wouldn't be needed.   Adorable Japanese characters?   I tend to love anything Japanese, so sure.   Any non NZ or Aus witchee that I get gets Tim Tams, OK?   I've never had a Tim Tam but heard they're good. NOM Tim Tams.   Based on Prior Carnivale act prototypes...which one are you truly excited about?   Fire Eater sounds interesting, as does Tilt a Whirl. I'm excited for the new act(s) to go up soon! Would it bother you if you are not the first person to receive the same gift? Imagine a Witch who always sends her favourite book, for example.   Not at all.   Pets: What do you have, and do they need/want anything?   See my questionnaire for more; we have three cats and two rats and they love snacks and treats.   Does anyone play video games? What platform(s)? Are there any new or vintage games you would like?   I play video games on PS1, PS2, Nintendo (gray, ollllld one), Wii, XBox360 and Nintendo DS. Games I'm seeking (and used are FINE!): Animal Crossing: City Folk (Wii), Darkstalkers 3 (Playstation), Intelligent Qube (Playstation), Silent Hill Origins (Playstation 2) and Tetris DS (Nintendo DS)   Twilight fans, would you be interested in any products from this Etsy seller? If so, add the items you like to your Etsy favorites and make sure your wishlist is posted somewhere for your witch.   I'm not a big Twilight fan.   Are you in need of decanting supplies, wand caps, or other scent-related paraphernalia?   Nope, thanks!   Anyone reading an amazing book right now?   No, sadly. I've been watching more movies lately. What socially responsible site would you recommend to ALL Witches?   I really like Northern Sun for buying stickers, pins, etc.   What is your favorite anime, or if you don't like that what is your favorite animated series?   I like Fruits Basket, Hare and Guu, Vampire Hunter D, Devil Hunter Yokho, and other vampire or cute anime.   Do you like villains that are funny because they are meant to be, or are you like me and love the villain that just can't seem to get his evil schemes to work?   I think the former, although I can't really think of any good examples.   Tea. How do you feel about it?   Love tea. Drink tea every day. I like black teas best, followed by herbal/tisanes and white teas. I am not much of a fan of mate/yerba mate or green tea.   would my future witchee like to receive steampunk style jewelry?   It's okay, but my style tends to be more like goth/Renaissance than steampunk, honestly. I'd rather have things like velvet chokers, silver necklaces with black or garnet beads, etc.   Does your feline like catnip?   Oh yes.   Salt soap bars (soap made with a large quantity of salt, like salt-scrub-in-a-bar)?   No thank you, just because I don't like soap in the first place.   How would you feel about homemade jelly/jam from home-grown berries?   Fantastic. I don't really like peach but anything else is fair game. My favorite fruits are cherries and strawberries, gooseberries!!, blackberries.   Homemade dill pickles? Made from cukes, beans, snap peas, baby zucchini?   That would be pretty awesome. I love anything pickled. I like bread and butter (sweet) better than dill but both are good.   What, if anything, are you earwormed with right now?   UGH. I get earwormed very, very easily. Most mornings I wake up with music playing in my mind. Over. and. Over. It drives me crazy quite honestly. Right now it's "I get by with a little help from my friends." And I have no clue why!   What scent are you wearing right now, if any?   Jingu. It's okay. Soft and sweet, but I think my imp is enough.   Posters, yes or no?   Errr, no .... I mean, I like posters and art enough, but I'm not sure that someone would have enough sense of "me" to buy something I'd like, as I'm particular about art, and yet feel obligated to hang up something I've been given. So I'd hang it but be unhappy with it, probably.   With that said, I know I want a print of this comic and this comic, in case you want to buy me art that I know I want and they're fairly cheap, too:   http://www.asofterworld.com/index.php?id=386 http://www.asofterworld.com/index.php?id=1   There's a link for "buy this print." What are your favorite animals? Or, what animals resonate strongly with you?   Cats. I have always had cats, love them, currently have three. I think they're beautiful and enigmatic (and cute and fuzzy too).   I love animals of all kinds. I like polar bears, mice and rats, zebras, giraffes, and lions. I always head straight for the big cats section of the zoo when I visit a zoo out of town (none here in TinyTown).   And if we're talking animals in terms of fantastical animals, then phoenices. I have a tattoo of a black phoenix on my lower back (guess it was meant to be that I ended up here at BPAL, huh?) and it is a symbol I really resonate with.   Are there any historical figures you are particularly interested in - say, that you'd enjoy reading about, or movies, etc.?   Not really; I don't care much for history. I really prefer modern things in books and movies most generally.   Beer?   Yes, although wouldn't that be hard to mail? Maybe give me recommendations of ones you really like? I don't know. I actually homebrew and would love recipes, ingredients, money to go shop at Northern Brewer (www.northernbrewer.com), ha!   Chips?   Sure. I've always been fascinated by odd flavored chips: ketchup, dill pickle, shrimp, etc. If you have weird flavored chips (or candy, or whatever) in your town and want to enable me with weirdness, go ahead!   For regular nomming-ness, I eat salt and vinegar chips mostly along with original flavor (just potato) and cheddar cheese. I confess I'm not much of a BBQ or sour cream and onion chip eater.   Books I collect:   Hardcover (with dust jacket) Stephen King and Anne Rice books. I need to write up a list, but I know off the top of my head that I do not have, and would like to have, The Gunslinger, The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three, and The Dark Tower III: The Waste Lands.   Is there anything you've been wanting to learn that your witch might be able to help you with?   If she reads Tarot, I've just gotten a deck from a pay it forward here and am dabbling in doing readings. Also astrology in general--reading birth charts, etc. P.S. I just bought a book on Tarot so I am good there.   Favorite kinds of wood   Don't really have one, although lighter wood is better.   Favorite materials/material things   Loooove velvet, especially black, garnet, emerald, or deep blue (not bright blue) velvet. Also silk, especially crushed silk or multicolored silk.   Are you obsessed with honey? If so, is there a particular kind you like best? Spun honey, flavored honeys, certain types of honey.... etc.   Not obsessed, but I do make mead and love to try different honeys.   Who knits? Do you also spin and dye? What supplies, that you wouldn't buy for yourself, would you just love to have for that activity?   I don't knit and currently have no interest in (re)learning, nor do I have interest in spinning and dyeing currently.   Do you like coffee? Whole bean or ground? Bold/Medium/Mild roast?   I always feel a bit un-American on this one, but I don't drink coffee at all I really and honestly prefer tea.   So you have enough socks and wraps... (shush, VCW!) Are there any other knitted goods you might like? Lap blanket? Fingerless gloves? Arm warmers? Little knitted animals? Silk scarf? Head band? Wrist cuff? Dish clothes?   Please, anything but potholders. You know, my kitties would rock a little kitty blanket ... and I think arigumi are adorable too. A little cat or bear... And arm warmers would be awesome!! Are you interested in Tarot or Tarot art?   I just recently received a Tarot deck and I'm learning how to use it. More than a different deck or art, I'd appreciate help learning how to read. However, I do like a Tarot deck I saw that has cats on it (see Amazon.com).   What would you think of soap samples/shampoo bar samples? (I believe the latter can be used as soap if you are not shampoo bar inclined). Or other sample sized bath/beauty products, for that matter?   Sample sized anything *except* soap and shampoo bars (unless they are LUSH) would be great! I apologize, but LUSH is the only company whose shampoo bars work with my hair, and I don't use soap.   What about burnables as in candles, tarts and/or incense?   Any of the above, although I tend to prefer incense above all else. I like Japanese ritual incense, Fred Soll incense, and even resins to burn on charcoal. And maybe I'm cliche, but I love nag champa and similar Indian incenses. What one item would you just love to have that is made by a Switch Witch?   Anything creative and crafty! I love to get things that are unique and that someone made by hand.   Is your abode a palace covered in fur, a disaster area ,or a neat freaks delight?   Pretty neat, although that's because it's summer and I'm home all day. During the semester when I teach, it becomes a little more disaster-ish in my mind. I'm a bit of a neatnik overall and like things in their places, lined up.   Are there any phobias you have that you absolutely, positively, do NOT want anything from your witch referencing?   Not really, no. Are you a good witch or a bad witch?   I'm not sure.   What kind of a car do you drive and would you want something you could use in your car? Rear view mirror charms, steering wheel covers (a new thing for the knitters ), car blessing medicine bags...   I drive a 1991 Mazda Miata (red) named Miho. She has a steering wheel cover but actually, I could use a new dangly air freshener! Currently it's a pair of cherries exactly like these: http://daviduzzardi.blogspot.com/2009/03/c...-freshener.html and I like them but they are two years old and no longer smell like anything. Plus, when the cats go to the vet's, they get fur in the air, so they're also kind of fuzzy cherries. A blessing for my car sounds cool. I like to put stuff in my car that's decorative, so go wild. Red is a plus, though.   Do you want to know when you have something coming in the mail, or would you rather it be a complete surprise? What is your mailbox situation?   I like surprises. I don't have any mailbox problems, so surprise away.   How are you doing for BPAL storage? Need any boxes?   I could use an ammo box or two for imp storage, or neat boxes for imp storage. I've been eyeing an herb chest for bottles, something like this: http://www.somaluna.com/prod/green_pentacl..._chest.asp?m=94   I, however, don't need boxes like tea chests or other boxes people have to store their BPAL bottles in--I like to see the label art and those would be obscured in those type of boxes.   Is there any place you've visited where you feel like you left your heart there?   New Orleans. For the longest time I wanted to live there (family from LA) but I don't know if I could do it now, plus I'm slowly settling into where I live. Is there something that would offend you if you received it in your mail/gift/email)? (as in profanity, a bad words in an email/card/music ... or a card or something with a scantily dressed man/woman pictured on it, crude/immature humor tshirts, etc ...)   Not really. I'm incredibly difficult to offend.   What do you like to snack on?   Hard candies are great. I love those old-fashioned ribbon type candies, the little hard strawberries wrapped up in paper that looks like a strawberry, licorice (red and black, but mostly black), etc.   I'll also eat chips sometimes. I hate hate hate corn chips like Doritos, Fritos, etc. with a passion. Potato chips of all kinds are good though.   I enjoy dried fruit, especially dried cherries, pineapple, apples, and apricots. Not so much dates. Hate raisins.   What is the color scheme you use most when you decorate?   I think I covered this pretty well in my questionnaire. If you have music or DVDs on your wishlist, do you mind getting a burned copy? How about if it is original packaging but previously used? Or do you only want it new?   I am absolutely fine with burned DVDs, burned music, burned mix tapes, etc. Yarr!   Who is your favorite artist? What are some of your favorite pieces of their work?   I think I covered this pretty well in my questionnaire. Are you a candles person, incense person, or just a BPTP spritzer for room scents?   Any of the above are nice, but I choose incense above all.   What is your favorite latin or faux latiny phrase?   Carpe noctem.   If you could make your perfect scent (or at least most desired at the moment!) what would be in it?   I think it would likely have cinnamon or cloves, or both, along with vanilla, maybe smoke or light woods, and possibly a faintly caramelized or buttery note. Kind of like Underpants plus Three Witches plus Mitzvah. Oh, that would be awesome.   List things you DO NOT need any more of:   I have a ton of lotion to go through, so I'm not really jonesing for more lotion, although I can always use handmade shea butter type thick lotions for my hands and feet (it gets dry out here!) Also, I don't really use wall-plug-in air fresheners, so I don't use things like Bath and Body Works Wallflowers. I prefer scented oils or room sprays.   Um, other than that, I can't think of anything. I tend to collect, so I have spaces to hold the things I do have more than one of.   What are your favorite websites (besides this one, and the online shops you listed in your questionnaire)?   I can has cheezburger; myspace; livejournal; the LUSH forums; makeupalley; alt.life; allrecipes; CTRL + ALT + DELETE; Penny Arcade; PvP   In trying to decide what to fix for dinner, I thought that I've received some great recipes from friends (particularly the culinary mastermind that is scotchgrrl). I also have a few great recipes of my own. So would anyone like to receive some original, or very much loved recipes from his/her witch?   YES! Absolutely. I love cooking, cook nearly all of our meals at home from scratch, and love trying new recipes. I just ask that they don't have cilantro as a central focus (i.e., I couldn't leave the cilantro out if I felt like it because it's a major portion of the dish).   Which flavors are you interested to try from the Chocolate Research Facility?   The design of this site drove me bonkers. I couldn't even figure out where the flavors were.   For me, milk chocolate only, and it can be with cherries, coconut, caramel, or other things sponsored by the letter "C." Ha! No nuts or raisins, please. Spicy (curry or pepper) are awesome!   Do you wear makeup or nail polish? Need brushes, containers, storage, mani/pedi supplies? What colors and brands do you like?   I am a magpie. I love shiny, sparkly, glittery things of all kinds and that includes makeup. I don't really need any storage or brushes, but anything sparkly, glittery, etc. in the makeup or nail polish world would be loved and embraced! I tend to wear lighter and pastel colors a lot, like baby pinks, lighter reds, etc. but I do also love bold color--bright teal, chartreuse green, red glitter, etc. I am not that big a fan of bright purple as a makeup color, though, and anything with orange or yellow tones looks sickly on me. My favorite brands are MAC, Urban Decay, Stila, NARS, Too Faced, and Sugar Cosmetics. Do you like shiny hanging porch decorations like windchimes or those things that spin and swirl in the wind?   See "magpie" above: yes! And the more colorful the better.   Hair adornments?   Again, sparkly, glittery, etc. are great. I tend to wear bobby pin, lobster claw, or clip in style of hair accessories, and smaller is better (my hair is pretty thick and I wear it down mostly). These are the sort of styles I wear:   http://www.tigerstars.com/Detail.bok?no=6837 http://www.tigerstars.com/Detail.bok?no=6834 http://www.tigerstars.com/Detail.bok?no=6706 http://www.tigerstars.com/Detail.bok?no=6683   However, I don't like this style of clip and don't wear these:   http://www.tigerstars.com/Detail.bok?no=6694 http://www.tigerstars.com/Detail.bok?no=6425   I wear my hair in a simple ponytail often, so interesting hair ties are nice too.   Is there any infomercial product you're dying to try even though you know it probably sucks?   I don't watch TV so I don't know what infomercials are even out. Do you like coconut?   Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! I love smelling like it and eating it. I use virgin coconut oil as "lotion" and I love to eat coconut pudding, coconut cream pie, etc. I like things that smell strongly of coconut and/or suntan lotion, too.   Puddin' posts ebay sales of older stuff every now and then - what of the current lot are you dying for?   Nothing that I would ever expect my witch to buy--my tastes run to the expensive side (Pinched...)   Do you tweet?   Nope; no interest.   What kind of mythology are you interested in?   Lovecraftian! Cthulu especially, but Shub-Niggurath and Yog-Sothoth too.   What of the summer update (Egyptian, Lawn Ornaments, etc.) appeals most to you?   I have decants of all of them coming--the Lawn Ornaments sound most appealing, but I guess I shall see! I ended up not really liking any of them, sadly.   Are you freaking out over any of the discontinued scents, dear fellow Witches?   Kind of, yeah. I bought a bottle of Tannin'iver and Marianne and Severin.   For those candy loving witchees. Are there any 3 that you love and would like more of? And, are there any 3 that you just cannot stand and would not like any of?   I've mentioned candy previously, but I love caramel, licorice, and hard candies, also sour candies, the more sour the better. I don't like Jordan almonds, burnt peanuts, circus peanuts, most marshmallow-heavy candies (think Peeps), gummy candies, and dark chocolate or white chocolate.   Would you like a bowl and tarts to use the residual heat (and for extra safety)?   No thank you; I already have an electric tart warmer and bowl.   What is your favorite classic fairy tale or children's story?   My absolute favorite children's story as a little kid was the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Apparently I read that book over, and over, and over, and over...   I always preferred Aesop's fables over fairy tales, although I did read both. My favorites were "Belling the Cat" and "The Fox and the Grapes."   Have you any desire to read Hannibal?   Not really. Husband would probably be interested since he watched all the movies, but it's not quite my style of reading.   If your witch goes to Convergence (or is bestest friends with someone, same thing), is there anything you'd love to have?   I'm planning to make the long drive down for Cobwebs and possibly Convergence, so no need to worry about trying to track down crazy stuff for me! Although if there is Mitzvah, Underpants, or Spanked and I can't get them, you're free to chase with me ... ha aha ...   Lip balm?   I like lip balm. I have a couple near my desk always. My absolute favorite is Labello Tropical Shake but of course it's European and a bit hard to get as a result. I like coconut, fruity (strawberry, cherry), or vanilla scented lip balms. And they can have flavor, too; that's fine. I like the plain Burt's Bees tube and I haven't tried any of the "flavored" ones they have (pomegranate, etc.)   What's that one thing you keep meaning to get but keep forgetting or passing over?   I can't think of much. Maybe an old copy of "Joy of Cooking"? I have a newer copy (this is the one I have, the 1997 edition) and it's not supposed to be as good as the older one. I'd really like the facsimile copy of the original--I think that would be awesome! I mean, look at the cover!   Also BPAL's Masquerade. I like it, but I keep passing it over in favor of more LEs. But with the new cuts in the catalog, maybe Masquerade should come home with me someday.   Non-melting candies....what are your favorites?   Any hard peppermints, licorice, hard fruity candies, Werther's originals, Creme Savers orange, Creme Savers strawberry, butterscotch disks, hard tea-flavored candies, mango flavored candies ... I like hard candy. Pretty much anything except coffee, cinnamon, chocolate, melon, or peach flavors. Oh, and how could I forget Lemonheads? Those are probably my favorite candy of all time. EDIT: Holy cow I just bought a bunch of Creme Savers because I couldn't resist the sale at our grocery store. I didn't know they made this many flavors!   What are you happiest about (besides SW)? What makes you feel good this summer? Any summer?   As a teacher, I LOVE summer. It is MY time. I like to relax, read the books I have to put aside during the semester, watch movies of all kinds, and catch up on my life. I love summer!   Do you like coffee and/or wine?   No coffee, thank you. Wine is nice. I prefer whites to reds. I like gewurztraminer, pinot grigio, pinot gris, and of course since I am a meadmaker, mead and other "country" (fruit or herb) wines. I also like Greek retsina.   What are your thought on World Market?   I miss it, along with Target. If you are a dog lover, or gigantic dog nerd like I am, would you like any breed-related items from this site? If so, which breed(s)?   Since I have no dog, it would have to be just cute things to keep around the house--stuffed dogs, postcards, stationery, etc. I love Shiba Inus, Siberian Huskies, and Corgis.   A witch wants to cheer you up. What are we cheering you up from? In other words, what are the most pressing problems you're facing right now?   Is it bad to say that I really don't have any problems right now? I am quite enjoying life. I guess that's a good thing, yeah?   Who out there is equally challenged and would appreciate icons/banners as witchy gifts?   That could be cute--or someone to help me figure out how to change my avatar! EDIT: Obviously, I figured out how to change my avatar! Ha!   Is anyone else having trouble getting motivated to do the things you're supposed to do?   Sure--I should be writing syllabi right about now. Later.   Are there any etailers you haven't tried yet but would like to be enabled (e.g., a company you haven't tried but would like recommendations from your witch, based on your likes and dislikes)?   I think it would be easier to list the e-tailers I have tried. You can go from there! I have tried, and really like, Bathed and Infused, Skindecent, and Isle of Eden. I have tried and don't really like Arcana, Possets, Blooddrop, Nocturne Alchemy, and Artiztic Oils. I tend to stick with BPAL fragrances only but I will try anybody's bath and body products. I am pretty picky with my oils and haven't found other companies' oils to be anywhere near as good as BPAL. However, I do like Bathed and Infused's EDPs and I love Isle of Eden's Red Satin Buttercream (discontinued) and would die for an EDP of it, or something that smells like it. My favorite scents from Bathed and Infused are Clove Cigarettes, Scorched, and Vodka & Redbull.   What styles of jewelry do you like? Bold and funky? Delicate and dainty? Short necklaces, long ones, chokers? Bracelets or anklets?   I like bold and fun necklaces, cute necklaces, dainty rings, bold earrings, and I'm good on bracelets and don't really wear anklets.   I like "y" necklaces, puzzle rings or rings that you can twirl the center part on, rings with inscriptions or sayings, and necklaces with interesting charms.   All silver or silver-tone, BTW ... no gold. Does my witchee like hats, a floppy summer sun hat or something more stylish? Would you like a hand knit cap or hat?   No thanks on hats--I don't really wear them.   What kind of shopper are you? Do you make a budget? Planner, or compulsive? Do you like to buy what's new, special offers, only the usual?   Um, all of the above? Ha! For some things, bigger purchases usually, I plan--read reviews, check prices, etc. For small stuff--food and drink, perfumes, etc.--I'm impulsive. I guess I figure the less money I spent, the less disappointed I'd be if I didn't like it, so I'm more apt to plot and plan for big ticket items.   Do you play any musical instruments? Which ones? If not, are there any you'd like to learn? What styles of music do you play, and are you interested in learning any different styles?   I do not play anything, and no, not really (want to learn).   Are you partial to any kind of comedy?   Sarcastic humor--Clerks, Mystery Science Theatre, Monty Python, that sort of thing. Dry, witty humor. Not sappy.   What did you do for the 4th and/or the holiday weekend?   Rode roller coasters!   Partials, samples, sniffies?   Sure thing!   Have you read anything by China Mieville, Neil Gaiman or Charles de Lint? If so, what?   No on Mieville, de Lint. Yes to Gaiman. Have read Anansi Boys, Neverwhere, Stardust, American Gods, and just bought Smoke and Mirrors.   Other than books/cds/dvds are there any "things" that you collect or symbols which you have an affinity for?   I think I've answered this pretty well earlier: Cats, phoenices.   Do you like musicals? What have you seen? What do you want to see? Any you'd like to own?   I do not like them as a rule. I did like Dancer in the Dark, but that didn't strike me as a musical so much. Same with Moulin Rouge.   What are your thoughts on J.R.R. Tolkein?   Don't like, sorry. Too fantasy oriented.   If you answered that you would like recipes, are there any national or ethnic cuisines you prefer or don't prefer?   Prefer Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Indian. Don't know any I don't prefer...open to anything.   What's your favorite summer activity?   Reading, sleeping, screwing around on the internet, baking. Would you like a recipe booklet (homemade) for homemade smoothies and shakes?   That would be really neat!   What's your favorite vacation spot?   New Orleans.   Would you like anything nostalgic? Things you loved from their childhood or maybe things you've always loved that were from a time before your own?   I like to collect old advertisements, especially for foods. The kitschier the better.   What new scents from the update are calling your name?   I'm getting decants of Berry Moon and Stinky. Everything else I will probably get imps of. The crocodile one sounds good because of the mint.   I'm super interested in the Amanda Palmer Blackberry Jam and Scones (or whatever it was) perfume. I looooove scones. If Beth can capture the "scone" note, I'm there! I didn't like it sadly. I have easy access to Asian candies, tropical fruits(mangosteen, mango, durian, jackfruit) flavored biscuits/chips/snacks, dried tropical fruits, Japanese/korean/taiwanese cosmetics brands and music/CDs. Is there anything you will like from Singapore or Asia in general?   Asian candies (hard candies, gummies, chewing gums) are great, as are things with odd flavors or consistencies we don't find much here. Stationery with cute characters and cosmetics are also fun.   I've recently been listening to Rasputina's 'O Perilous World' album and am particularly enamored by '1816: the Year Without a Summer'. So I'd like to know if my witchee likes Rasputina, and would like any music by them?   I do like them but have most of their albums. However, I am open to anything similar (cello music, etc.)   If you could make your perfect scent (or at least most desired at the moment!) what would be in it?   Hm. Maybe an incense type blend: Nag Champa, sandalwood, cloves, maybe a little cinnamon. Or a orange or orange blossom blend, with fruit (strawberry and orange blossom?).   Are there real life people also helping you with your witching?   Not really. Husband thinks it's cute but doesn't help.   So Nikola Tesla's Birthday is Friday, July 10th. Who amongst you witches are Tesla fans?   Do you mean Tesla like the band? No. Or like the guy? I don't really know much about him. What are your favorite types of baked goods? How would you feel about candied citrus peel, chocolate-covered or not? Would you be interested in the mix version of the baked goods or perhaps a spice mix, something along those lines?   I like cookies and cupcakes best, and I tend to like vanilla/sugar cookie versions (i.e., sugar cookies with or without frosting, vanilla cupcakes with either vanilla buttercream or interesting flavor frostings (the last ones I made were with Nutella frosting), etc.) I also like spice cakes. I tend not to like a lot of chocolate, and something like chocolate cake with chocolate frosting or chocolate chip cookies is really not my style.   I would love candied citrus peel; I tried making it once and failed spectacularly. Along with the "not a big fan of chocolate" above, I wouldn't like chocolate covered citrus anything.   Mix versions or spice mixes are a-ok! I love to bake.   Have you found any new loves since the beginning of the round that you wished you'd known to include on your questionnaire?   Not really. Anything similar to Blood Moon 2005, maybe, which I just discovered and love.   Question...do you fret or take it personally when your witch or witchee gets too quiet? Like they figured you out and don't like you?   No, because I myself am a quiet witch/witchee! Please don't take it personally (to my witch). I am a quiet person by nature. Do you try to figure out who your witch is? Do you want your witch to give you clues?   I try to figure it out a little, but not much ... and really, I'd be sad if I spoiled my surprise.   Who has a Kindle? If you do, would you like a Kindle gift card, Kindle accessories, etc. as a gift? Whadda you need?   I don't; I have to have a physical book in my hands.   What about other electronics (Blackberries, iPhone, etc.)? Do you need any accessories, etc. for those?   I'm not much into electronics except for my small iPod. I could use a cover for it--it's getting beaten up with all my use! It is a first generation black 2GB Nano.   Who knows about wizard rock and wants more? Who doesn't know but wants to?   Uh. Not really sure what this is. I've got a ton of music to get through on my computer already. Do I want something like "wizard rock"?   What's the wallpaper/screensaver on your computer?   A baby seal on its back, waiting for a tummy skritch! So cute.   Do you like Sugar Ray (the band not the boxer)?   S'okay. I like a few songs but that's the extent of it. Would you be interested in receiving some pasties from your witch?   No, thank you.   How did you get your forum name?   It's from a They Might Be Giants song!   Anything from the trunk show?   No thank you.   Anything from the newest ebay listing?   I love Blood Moon 2005 and wonder if the lab's listing would be "deeper" than the bottle I have (which is somewhat thin).   "If I could be I would be ____________ for a day." Fill in the blank.   Able to fly.
