Jarek Report post Posted January 25, 2025 (edited) A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers. 2024 version I have been very curious about the lab's snow and ice and cold notes. It was only partly through making an order I checked the reviews and discovered mint is a possible inclusion. I'm not the biggest fan of mint, but I do like some blends with it, and I was still so very curious so I decided to give it a go. In the decant vial it's a little sweet but not in a sugary way, quite a light scent, a touch of florals. Wet on my skin and I'm smelling the mint, but there's other things layered with it, it's not like smelling Mad Hatter with the "paroxysm of pennyroyal", but it is more noticeable than the mints in Vicomte de Valmont. At least to me. The florals are there but very light, and there's a light breezy/airy sort of scent which is also kind of sweet (I did just try Machu Picchu yesterday so I'm primed to pick out that sort of more I think). As it dries and evaporates over the day the mint and sweet stay, the florals gradually go away, the air/wind scent fades a bit too but hands around longer than the florals. There's more to the "snow" than mint, but I always find mint very overpowering to my nose (and tongue), a little goes a very long way for me. So while I can tell there's more than the mint, I can't make out what. It lasted a really long time, I could still smell it on my wrists six+ hours later and I didn't need to put my wrist up to my nose either. It's a pretty nice scent! It was a bit of a gamble for me with the mint, and I don't think I'll be getting a bottle of it, but I think it was definitely worth trying a decant. I mean, Vicomte de Valmont is one of my absolute favourites. Snow White for me is very pretty, long lasting, I like a lot of it. Not sure if I'll keep the decant or not. I'll definitely try it again though. Edit: Omay I've re-applied and the coconut, vanilla, maybe a bit of almond, I see what others are talking about now. The mint is much more subtle in the decant and freshly applied on my skin. It just becomes more noticeable with time as the other stuff fades, but the rest of the... I think vanilla, possibly coconut, may fade a bit but also sticks around with the mint. I do like this more freshly applied, and I may like it more after some reapplications. I'm glad I'm giving it further opportunities. :3 Efit 2: So I like it even more with further applications, even though the mint is still pretty noticeable to me it's very nicely blended with everything. I don't forsee getting a bottle but I'm definitely wearing out the decant, and I might order decants again in the future. Assimbya Report post Posted March 24, 2025 (edited) 2024 version. To me this perfume is very much like a fantasy of snow - white and fluffy and soft and sparkling. As far as notes, I can pick out a light musk with vanilla, almond, nebulous white florals, and something that if I squint I can call coconut, but they're all very fully blended together into a single picture. I do get a slight plasticky edge on my skin, but somehow this doesn't bother me; it feels like part of the fantasy snow image, like it's inside of a snow globe. I came to this one sort of backwards, seeing people compare other blend to it, primarily My Soul Acquiesced in It from the Carmillas, which is my absolutely favorite BPAL to date. I can see the resemblance to My Soul Acquiesced, but the snow in Snow White is opaque in contrast with My Soul Acquiesced's crystalline clarity. Snow White also feels more youthful - a sweet fantasy, in contrast to My Soul Acquiesced's adult elegance. I enjoy Snow White a lot; it's fun to wear, and I would be pleased to try other blends with this snow note. But the playfulness of it means that I find myself wanting to wear it in more limited settings and moods, and it doesn't feel quite as much 'me' as some other perfumes (that experience of having a perfume feel distinctly 'me' is such an interesting one! I'm so curious to think more about how it works), so I don't think it will become an absolute favorite for me, or fully become part of my regular rotation. carrioncupid Report post Posted July 28, 2025 (2024 ver, i think) (goblin sniff ie. 1 day fresh from the mail) it smells like frosty apple peels. and very crisp apple flesh. like biting into an apple straight from the fridge. i'm very very happy it doesn't smell like autumnal apples, i quite like this. ooh.. on skin it's kinda stank. it's very... powdery? dusty? like actually antique? the apple fades away so quickly. so so quickly it makes me sad. it's some sort of nondescript floral and cold accord on my skin. does it just need more rest? oh wait wait! it's [the apple peels] coming back, it's coming back just a bit. i can't breathe it in too much or else it becomes that sort of stanky dusty cold accord. it teeters on the edge of greatness for me. if the apple peel smell can remain then this is FS worthy to me. it's very unique in my little "cold" perfumes collection which also include alkemia's for love of winter, and star dust, and bpal's lady amalthea (which i wouldn't really count as cold to be honest but just for the sake of comparison) and nui cobalt's icicle tiara and maybe astrophilia? it's a standout compared to other creamy and minty scents, without any sort of big and bold florals or coniferous woody notes. the apple peel provides a very fresh and quite unique version of wintry scents, and i quite enjoy this specific cold accord! the other three in my collection use mint as a base which is very understandable but this lacks that mint, which i find quite nice as well. as of right now it doesn't have a lot of projection on the back of my hand, but maybe performance will be better with where i usually apply my perfume instead. color me very impressed with snow white! tigermilking Report post Posted January 3 Snow White 2025 Not a photorealistic snow or winter scent, and not particularly chilly either. I first tried on Snow White back in the early aughts so I wasn’t expecting it to be, although some versions have had a little more of a hint of mint than others. This iteration is musky vanilla and almond, which reads as play dough to my nose. No night-blooming flowers to be found. Honestly, I missed this — it’s a nostalgic scent to me. But I wanted to flag it for anyone looking for a “I smell snow” moment.
leptonpyr Report post Posted 19 hours ago 2025 version. Well, I'm pretty bummed to say I seem to be someone for whom Snow White goes "Play-Doh." It was *very* faint, hardly any throw at all, and mainly smelled weirdly plasticky, with a bit of sweet vanilla and the faintest suggestion of indoles. Sadly it never improved. Whatever indoles there were faded very quickly, and the vanilla eventually went powdery (not in a nice way, more scented baby powder). The plastic note got...slightly less offensive, but I still sort of smelled like a vanilla-scented plastic doll. I did see a review of an older version of this mention that allowing it to rest brought out something a bit greener and made it wearable for them, so I'll keep this around and retest it in a month or two. If it doesn't improve, I'll move it straight to the sales/swap pile, where hopefully it can find a more appreciative home.
