But even after first applying it, it's so intensely black leather and buttermilk on me that I can't get to the other notes. Gonna let that sit and re-examine in 5... (as I'm sitting here though, I absolutely smell molasses wafting up from my arm) Okay, going back in! I smell dead leaves! I smell the spicy cardamom and crisp bergamot. I smell moss. There is a hint of vanilla and molasses. The leather is still very strong, but the fact that it's relented even that much to let the other notes come through is really appreciated. And the leather has changed in that time from smelling brand freakin' new to softer, broken in. Like a beloved pair of Doc Martens that have survived every festive autumnal outing. leptonpyr Report post Posted August 22 I'm not totally sure what I was expecting here, but this one just does not work for me at all. A slap of sour buttermilk with a sickly-sweet vanilla, and something that smells like strongly lemon-flavored candy for children. There's a surprisingly warm spice on drydown, smells more like the cardamom in my spice cabinet than the coldness that's typical of cardamom in perfumery. Unlike @wilhelmscream, I got no leather I was able to discern. I lasted about 2 or 3 hours before I scrubbed it off. It just sort of sat in a stagnant pool of lemon-candy vanilla-buttermilk with a hint of warm spice, and after a few hours of that I decided I'd had enough. I will retest this in a month or so to see if it settles into something different before I put it up for sale. (Very low throw on me, which again, I was fine with.) galahad Report post Posted August 25 In the bottle: Definitely tart buttermilk, bergamot, vanilla and leather. On the skin: buttermilk, a smidge of cardamom, dead leaves and amping leather. Zaani Report post Posted Wednesday at 02:09 AM This one starts off sweet with the buttermilk, then the harsh leather kicks into gear, then after an hour or two, it becomes a really lovely comfortable earthy scent with a bit of sweetness. I like to think that Bad Humour Man starts falsely sweet to lure you in, shows his evil nature, then has a Grinch moment where his heart grows 3 sizes and then in the end, he's just a nice old guy who used to give out ice cream.
